My fingerprint reader on my pavillion dv3 4050ea doesn't work

I formated my pavillion dv3 4050ea windows 7 64 bit starter notebook and somehow forgot to back up the swsetup files i installed windows 7 professional 64 bit and my finger print reader doesn't work again, i've installed and unistalled almost every validity sensor software i've seen but it still doesn't work. I even downloaded from therecommended one from the action centre to no avail. Can someone please help me locate the right driver so i can activate my finger print driver. Thanks

If you had done a factory image recovery it would have been simpler for you. All drivers were available in the Recovery Manager.
Power button -->tap the Esc key and in the Startup menu select F10  for BIOS Setup. In the BIOS, go to the System Configuration tab and look for the validity sensor enable/disable to see how it is set. You will need to have it enabled for it to work.
You will also need to download, install and enroll your fingerprints in the SimplePass Indentity Protection software. available at the web support portal for your notebook.

  • Pavillion dv3 HP restore not working

I have a pavillion dv3-4050ea and have been having problems. Previous postings on here have identified a failed HDD, which I have now replaced.
If i press f2 at start-up and run the tests, the HDD is now fine.
I have purchased the recovery disks from HP. The disks seem to 'format the windows partition' and 'copy files to HDD' ok, but the third stage of 'restoring files to HDD' hangs at 12% complete.
    Any ideas?
Thank you in advance for your time.

    Hi,
Here's an alternative option you could try.
Before trying the following, make sure you can still read the 25 Character Product Activation key on your Windows COA label ( 5 blocks of 5 alpha/numeric sets ).
An example of a COA Label can be seen Here.
You can create an installation disc yourself using another PC - just download the correct Disc Image ( this must be the same version that originally came with your notebook ) from the link below and use an application such as ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly to a blank DVD - a guide on using ImgBurn to write an ISO to a disc is Here.  These Images are clean and from a well-respected source, however there are only limited versions available.
    Windows-7 sp1-iso-official-32-bit-and-64-bit
Use the disc to perform the installation, enter the Windows activation key found on the COA Label when requested and when the installation has completed, use the 'Phone Method' detailed in the link below to activate the OS - this method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who just want a clean installation of Windows 7 without the additional software load normally bundled with OEM installations.

Any additional drivers and software you may need can be found Here.

  • The fingerprint reader on my HP Pailion dv7 will not work in Firefox 4, but worked fine in earlier versions.

The fingerprint reader uses DigitalPersona 5.0.0.4490 extension. Firefox 4.0 says this is loaded and active. However, fingerprints cannot be used to log in from Firefox 4.0.
I reloaded Firefox 3.6.16 and everything automatically began working properly.

I see you started another question thread - https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/888892 - so I guess your problem isn't resolved.
If it is trying to print to an XPS file, your printer isn't selected as the destination for print. You need to select you printer in the Printer - Name box. See the screenshot.

  • T440p, WIndows 7: Fingerprint Reader Fails on First Attempt to Log In, Works on Second After Delay

I have a T440p with Windows 7 Pro.  Except on rare occasions, I am unable to log into Windows with my first swipe across the fingerprint reader.   The green light is on when I do the first swipe and it immediately goes off and stays off for around 15 sesconds, during which time another swipe does nothing.  Then the green light will return and a second finger swipe will log me on.
Any suggestions on fixing this would be appreciated.  It's made using the fingerprint reader for login impractical, because it's faster to just go to the password screen and log in that way.  Thanks.

    Thinkpad T61p
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I do see a several second delay before the fingerprint reader green light comes on after the login screen appears, but it's no where near as long as the delay I was previously seeing between the first failed swipe and waiting for the light to come on again.  The new driver is a great improvement and make the fingerprint reader work as I recall when I first purchased the T440p--though possibly a bit slower to light up after the login screen appears.  It would be great to see the fingerprint reader light come on more quickly after the login screen appears, but that's a minor thing compared to the failure on the first swipe.
Thanks again for giving us the opportunity to try this driver out.  So far, after a day of use and several times coming out of sleep, I haven't had any failed swipes.

sog, some feedback on that driver:
The installer runs but doesn't give any prompt that it has finished.  I was waiting for something to show, after the progress bars, but it just quits.  Before I restarted, I checked the driver version and saw the new one, so I figured that was all that was going to happen.  Driver is v.285, dated 1/29/15.
Restarted the PC and then put it to sleep (deep sleep mode/Intel Rapid Start).  First swipe does indeed work to login thereafter.
But:  It takes longer for the FP reader light to come on now.  I think it's that same 15 seconds mentioned above.  With the previous driver, the scanner light would come on almost right away with the login screen, but the first swipe wouldn't do anything.  Once the light came on again--that period of seconds, the swipe would work.
With this new driver version, I think that what's changed is that the light simply doesn't come on until whatever is going on in the background has completed.  So, in effect, getting a desktop takes the same amount of time, but with only a single swipe.  --Which isn't a complaint that a login should be able to be effected more quickly with the FP scanner.  Perhaps it can't.  Just reporting how it works now.

  • Adobe Reader XI.0 correctly installed, but doesn't work

I receveid the usually request to update Adobe Reader, form X up to XI last Tuesday.
I accepted. The program worked to update.
When I try to read a .pdf file, the program run, the window appear I think 0,1 sec and everything get close.
I try many times to unistall, reboot the pc, install again Adobe Reader, without success; I also tryed to install Reader X... without success.
    What about?
    Thanks
    Have a nice day

    Some things you could try...
    Update Reader to 11.0.6
Using Windows Explorer navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader, then double-click on Eula.exe and accept the license agreement
Can you open Adobe Reader by itself?  If so, try disabling Protected Mode [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].
If you cannot open Reader by itself, try to disable Protected Mode in the registry; download, unzip, then run the attached registry script
It could even be a malware issue; see http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/reader-core-dll-error.html

  • Fingerprint reader functionality in Arch; possible?

Thus far I am loving my first (actual) install of Arch, but am begginning to miss the use of my fingerprint reader. If theres no way it will work, I suppose thats ok, but I feel like its a waste of some nifty hardware.
I have a Thinkpad X60s. Let me know if any other information is needed, and what I'd need to install/configure to get the fingerprint scanner working (if its even possible).

    Sorry, long day yesterday...
I installed it through pacman, added "uinput" to "modules" in rc.conf, then used "tf-tool --verify" to scan my fingers. It worked perfectly to that point, but what exactly do I have to do to make it so that it asks for a scan on login? Theres so many distros listed on the thinkwiki page, I'm not sure what I need to do.
Read up on the pam_fprint module for pam.
Edit: btw, fingerprint is horribly insecure, a good password is way better.

  • How to disable FingerPrint Reader in Bios for X61?

I am trying to disable the FingerPrint reader on a X61 do it doesn't show up in the Device Manager in Windows 7.  I have currently disabled the FingerPrint reader in the Bios, however the Biometric Device still appears in Device Manager.  Is there something in the Bios I need to disable along with the FingerPrint reader?

    Welcome to the forum!
You'd actually need to uninstall the Fingerprint Reader software for it not to show in the Device Manager anymore.

  • Fingerprint reader iphone 5s

I'm sure you the end result of this is going back to ATT with my phone but I was wondering if anyone else is having trouble with the fingerprint reader on their phone? My daughter's works first time every time.  I'm putting the passcode in 95% of the time.  I've re done my "fingerprint" about 5 times and have added most of my fingers and thumbs that I'd ever use and they almost never work.
It's such a pain in the butt trying 3x and getting the notice "unrecognized fingerprint" on 5 different fingers.  I delete them all, add them in again and they work for about a day.  Then I'm back to being unrecognized again.  I've read they are failing 20% of the time.  If mine worked 20% of the time I'd be thrilled.
Will Apple replace my phone or am I stuck with it?
    Susan

Ok my best advise is you already set up you main finger print on your iPhone (which is yours) try someone else's and see if there's work. If not then don't worry about your iPhone AT&T will have to replace it because the iPhone is then faulty but just double check with someone else's finger print.(Someone you trust) and then you can remove there fingerprint later.

  • FIngerprint reader and Ubuntu

    Hi,
I'm new to both Lenovos and linuxes, but I'm planning on switching (from Mac). I have read that Ubuntu supports a lot of hardware, and thus is convenient, but I haven't seen anything about the fingerprint reader. I really like how that feature works (at least from what I've seen with Windows), but does it work with Ubuntu? Has anyone tried that? If it doesn't work, it sort of is not that much of a point in getting it (the fingerprint thing, not the computer).
    Thanks!

Fingerprint reader- above links do not resolve the problem. fprintd and frprint-demo do not recognize the Validity fingerprint sensor. My issues are the same as described in this post.

  • Fingerprint reader not working on T500

I have a T500 (2081-CTO) on which I have recently installed windows 7 64-bit. I moved from Vista home premium 32 to bit. I was able to install all of the Lenovo thinkvantage programs and also Fingerprint software Beta for Windows 7 64-bit and authen tec driver for windows 7 64-bit. Fingerprint reader is recognized by the system and program works fine.
However, when I go to enroll my fingerprints the bar, that shows up when scanning the finger for the first time, somehow never goes to full 100%. I keep swiping my figer over and over agin but the program, I guess, can not get enough good swipes. Did anyone else have the same problem?

I have the same issue with the same laptop
I've noticed that whichever driver you try and install, the version always seems stuck at 2.1.0.2

  • My fingerprint reader is not recognized by DigitalPersona when I upgraded to Windows 7

My fingerprint reader worked with Vista but when I upgraded to Windows 7 it is not recognized by DigitalPersona.
I have a dv3-1075us with the AMD Turion X2 dual core mobile RM-72 2.10 Ghz processor.  I have updated the BIOS to F.15, there is not a biometrics option in the BIOS for me to turn on, Authentec Driver 20.0.18 dated 11-24-2009 (Device Manger does nto show an error), and running Digital Persona Personal version 4.11.3826.
I have updated this from the troubleshooting section of the HP Support website.
At the windows login I get a "Reader not detected" message and in DigitalPersona "The fingerprint reader is not connected.  Connect the reader."
What further steps can I do to get my fingerprint reader working?
    Thank you for your help.

I've got an HDX9350 that I originally ran on Vista, and later upgraded to 32-bit Windows 7 Ultimate. I managed to make most functionality run on that installation, albeit buggy and slow, running assorted drivers in compatibility mode.
Earlier this week I installed the 64-bit version od Windows 7 Ultimate, because the upgraded installation did run into problems sometimes, requiring a long time to get an ip address etc. I was surprised to see a lot of drivers being automatically installed, includingdrivers for the AuthenTec 2501A fingerprint sensor.
I stumbled upon AuthenTecs own basic software, allowing You to log onto the computer and that worked. Or was it Window' own? Never mind.
Installing Digital persona resulted in no reader detected all of the time, despite following instructions on this forum.
Installing HP's SimplePass, things worked straight away! Maybe Digital Persona isn't compatible with Windows 7, or with my HDX9350?

  • HP Pavillion dv3 4103tx Blue screen atikmpag.sys

i have to error when after i reformat my windows 7 64bit and install my ATI catalyts Driver .everytime i re install it goes like this. how can i resolved this issue?
im using HP Pavillion Dv3 4103-tx

    Hey oliver08,
I'm sorry you're running into this blue screen. Thanks for providing the picture and all of that information. What version of the driver are you trying to install? Are you using the same downloaded install file or are you downloading each time? It could be if you're using the same downloaded installation file that it is not complete or was corrupted somehow.
    1. First, Uninstall the current graphics driver through Device Manager > Radeon HD Graphics > Properties > Driver tab > Uninstall. DO NOT RESTART at this point because Windows will automatically detect the missing driver and reinstall it. I would like you to try the drivers below, rather than Windows reinstalling the same driver that's already on the computer.
    2. Your model's Driver Page shows two versions available, so I suggest trying both.
AMD HD Graphics Driver version 8.771.1.4000 -- try this one first because it is the most recent.
AMD HD Graphics Driver version 8.741.1.1
    3. Download and install 8.771.1.4000. Use the Express installation if it asks you. Restart only if it prompts you to. Then test to see if you're still getting a blue screen. If you are still getting the blue screen, uninstall the same way you did at first and download 8.741.1.1. Install it, test and let me know if you're still getting the blue screen.

  • No hdmi sound option on pavilion dv3 4050ea

My pavilion dv3 4050ea does not have any option to output sound via HDMI (no SPDIF or HDMI options anywhere you would expect to find them on the system), but according to the specification it should be capable. I have checked for new drivers for video and audion cards and Windows reports the installed drivers are correct. Can anyone advise how I can fix this as I would like both sound and vision to output to my TV via HDMI?

Go to Control Panel-->Hardware and Sound-->Sound and on the Playback tab, go to the blank space under the last device, right click and tick show disabled devices. Hope this helps.
