My Firefox 5.o does not recognize my McAfee AntiVirus Plus 2011. I want it back!

I received an alert message for a safety and security upgrade to Firefox 5.0. I previously had Skype software and McAfee AntiVirus Plus 2011 installed. Now Firefox 5.0 does not recognize any add-ons for these packages. I am now operating with NO antivirus software and am unable to reload my McAfee software.
This is unacceptable performance from Mozilla.

  • ITunes 12 does not recognize my iPhone 6 plus; it knows it's there but can't identify it

    My iPhone 6 plus connects via USB to my 64-bit Windows 7 Professional PC, but iTunes (version 12) does not recognize it. How do I cure this so I can sync my audio library?

    Hi Louis,
    The article linked below details steps that can help get iTunes to recognize your iPhone.

  • Firefox 4 download does not recognize previous version has been removed and tells me to restart to complete removal of said version. This has been going on though several attempts to load version 4

    The question is self explanatory

    Choose one or both options:
    * Manually delete the previous install folder before installing new version
    * Choose a different directory on install (e.g. c:\Program Files\2nd Mozilla Firefox)

  • I have an iMac in which I installed a virtual machine to run some MS applications including MS Money. in virtual machine mode the computer does not recognize the USB pen which contains my MS money back up and therefore I can't import the data to the iMac.

    What should I do?

    What virtualization app do you use ?
    Parallels, VMWare Fusion or VirtualBox ?
    For Parallels: choose Preferences form the Parallels Desktop menu -> then USB and set it to your liking.
    For the other two it should be a similar procedure (don't use them myself).

  • Server does not recognize my recipients when sent as group.

    I tried to send a group email and got the following message: "the gmail server does not recognize the following addresses..." followed by a list of names properly separated by commas.  The list of addresses is so long, i can't see the bottom of it and i can't delete the offending addresses or delete the message i was trying to send. The message is frozen on my email screen (i.e. even if i force quit mail, when i reopen mail the message reappears).  i have tried to trash it to no avail.  i have also tried to delete the addresses from the bcc line and from the "does not recognize" message. i can highlight all i want, but nothing happens when i try to delete either by delete button or by "moving it to trash"  This same request for support was posted in 2008 by marygh, but no answer was posted.  I hope I have better luck.  Thanks.

    There's no commonality that I can see in the recipients' addresses...
    The same thing happened with my previous ISP's SMTP (with my current setup), and since it didn't happen with my previous iBook / Panther setup (using the same previous ISP's SMTP and Mail groups), I figured it was a Leopard thing, but as I mentioned at the top, I found a thread in the Tiger-related forum with the same problem (but no resolution apart from making the groups smaller)...

  • Firefox 3.6.8 does not recognize subsequent mouseclicks - window loses focus

    After updating to firefox 3.6.8 on my macbook pro (OS X 10.4.11) Firefox fails to recognize subsequent mouse clicks. You can access the page initially, but then it seems to lose focus and become unresponsive to mouse clicks until you do something to break the cycle (clicking on desktop, minimizing and resizing window, etc). I reinstalled Adobe Flash update using full installer, since others have suggested that as a possible cause, but no joy. The browser window still does not recognize mouseclicks after an initially successful page load. You can tab to the next window (for example, if you want to enter something in search) but you cannot CLICK to enter the search window, nor can you click on links on the page, etc. It is totally unresponsive.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == I updated Firefox to the version just before 3.6.8 -- then I updated to 3.6.8 to see if that fixed it -- it's still broken

    This started happening to me yesterday. All plugins are disabled, didn't help. All plugins uninstalled, didn't help. Downgraded to SP3, didn't help. I've also noticed this happen in Thunderbird, though it seems OK now.
    Sadly I've had to start using IE8 :(

  • When I try to click on a download link for a .pdf file Firefox does not recognize the MIME type and tries to download the file as "index.php"

    When visiting a site I frequent I tried to download a linked .pdf file. Previously I've used Firefox 7.0.1 to download the link with no problem. Using Firefox 8 however I the browser does not recognize the .pdf link's mime type. Instead of recognizing the download link as a .pdf file Firefox 8 tries to download it as "index.php". Firefox 8 does this with .doc files and .txt files as well. When I downgrade to 7.0.1 again the problem disappears.

    Hi hakmacpace,
    I'd try starting Firefox in [[Safe Mode]]. If you don't have the issue while all of your add-ons, extensions, and themes are disabled, you can try adding them back in one by one until you find the culprit. You should look at the [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting-extensions-themes Extensions and Themes troubleshooting guide ] and the [[Troubleshooting plugins]] article as well.
    You could also try [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Managing-profiles?s=create+a+new+profile&r=2&e=es&as=s#w_creating-a-profile Creating a new profile].
    Hopefully this helps!

  • EBay does not recognize new security feature requiring security number in Firefox but works with IE

    eBay has a new security feature when attempting to e-mail a seller; it requires that you enter a numerical code in a box. When on Firefox eBay does not recognize that I've entered the number and keeps telling me to enter the number but when on IE it recognizes the number. What add-on, etc do I need to make Firefox compatible with eBay? Thanks
    == URL of affected sites ==
    http://ebay.com

    The problem seems to be caused by the Java Console add-ons. Disabling mine (6.0.20 and 6.0.21) fixed the problem.

  • When trying to download & install Firefox 5.0.1 into a Mac, I get a message saying that Firefox cannot be installed because libnsscksi.dylib is in use. Any idea how to locate and close that file? Finder does not recognize it. Thanks!

    Tried to install both Firefox 5.0 and 5.0.1, and received the same error message that a file ending in .dylib was in use. I cannot locate that file, and Finder does not recognize it.

    I have a Power PC Mac with OS 10.5.8 and Firefox 3.6.28, the latest versions supported on my machine, and all of my plug-ins are the latest versions available for that browser version. I too get the warning message all the time and it is very annoying. I have never had any "security" problems, and I don't go along with this imperative to always be upgrading equipment. Don't these corporate geeks understand that we're in a global economic contraction and a lot of us are unemployed/underemployed? They want us to be good consumers and "switch to a newer computer" but I can't afford that. Like, if I can't fix my old car, I won't be able to drive. What I want to know is: '''how to disable the warning message?''' Thank you in advance.

  • Firefox does not recognize SSL Certificate issuer Entrust Certification Authority – L1K, but Entrust Certification Authority – L1C is ok?

    We have a new Entrust SSL Certificate with issuer Entrust Certification Authority – L1K which Firefox does not recognize. Internet Explorer and Chrome are ok.
    On a different system we have an Entrust SSL Certificate with issuer Entrust Certification Authority – L1C which is ok with Firefox.

    Did you verify that all intermediate certificates are installed on the server?
    You can inspect the certificate chain via a site like this:

  • Had my XP o/s replaced and now unable to sync with Firefox Favorites on the web - does not recognize my account name and password.

    I am after having my XP operating system refreshed trying to regain access to numerous favorite bookmarks held on the internet server(s). I have tried sync'ing via the Firefox mechanism but it does not recognize my account name or password. It is possible I used another software other than Mozilla's to back up my Favorites in bookmarks. However, baring that, I cannot access all the data in order to reconnect to it.

    '''''"... But I have my laptop next to me, signed in to sync ..."'''''
    Which version of Firefox?
    Firefox 29 brought a new version of Sync ''[a year ago]'', so if you are using an older version of Firefox on that laptop, see this KB article - [[How to update to the new Firefox Sync]]
    You'll need to update Firefox on that Laptop to continue using Sync on it after updating your Sync account.

    I realise this doesn't help you but I have reported this exact same issue (well, the part about being unable to login to webmail from abroad anyway) for MONTHS and all I get told is 'well you SHOULD be able to login'. I am no further forward and have come to the conclusion the only way to resolve this is to change ISP/phone provider.
    I had to create (and pay for) a domain with 1and1 in order to be able to send and receive e-mail while abroad, I didn't want to use Gmail or the like.
    As you say, it is INCREDIBLY FRUSTRATING, especially when I work for at least 6 months of the year overseas and BT just seem to ignore these posts.

  • Website does not recognize my email or password when signing in via firefox

    When I try to sign onto a specific website, it does not recognize my email address or password. This only happens when I sign in through Firefox. How do I correct this?

    Some sites use JavaScript to copy the name and password to another (hidden) field or use separate hint input fields for the name and password that can make Firefox store the wrong data (the password field and the input field with the Password hint text). In such a case there probably is nothing that you can do as Firefox may overwrite the name and password stored by the password editor extension immediately on the next visit.

  • Java 1.6.0_05 does not recognize first and last property in jnlp file

    Hi
    Has anybody else seen this?
    The jnlp file contains five properties, but the JRE does not recognize the first nor the last property.
    It has been working great since 1.4.2, through 1.5 and 1.6 until 1.6.0_05.
    <property name='bog' value='%2fdata%2fkirkeboeger1892%2f'/>
    <property name='opslag' value='aa001/AB/007/0000a-A.Jpg,aa001/AB/007/0002a-F.Jpg,... </property>

    <property name='service' value='http://ao.sa.dk/LAView/ImageServer/Service1.asmx'/>
    <property name='titel' value='1908+-+1924%2c+Agerskov%2c+N%c3%b8rre+Rangstrup%2c+Haderslev'/>The 'opslag' property is much longer, so I cut it off to make it more readable.

    We also have this problem, but it's not first and last property.
    We have 6 properties, and the 3. property is gone.
    If I download the jnlp file, the property is there, if I choose show jnlp file in "javaws -viewer" it's not there. Only difference between this property and the working properties is length.
    The length is char 255, and the data is base64 encoded.
    I worked fine before upgrading to Java 6 update 5.
    Anyone any ideas?
