After updateing Firefox all my tabs open object moved so I have to diable plugins and run in safe mode which is a real hassel. What can I do to fix this?

I don't know what else to say other than I have had Firefox for a while and an update came up and so I updated and Firefox has not worked right since then. I open a tab and it comes back Object Move (here) or Object moved temporary or some such crap. I then have to to the Firefox control go to help and and restart with add -on's Disabled I have tried ever other setting listed and nothing changes this problem from happening.

Hmmm, Norton extensions are broken again in Firefox 4.0.1. It seems that Norton didn't allow for Firefox 4.0 security updates when they updated their Firefox extension for Firefox 4.0. Norton says they'll have a fix in two weeks. A Norton user posted a fix in this forum thread.

Firefox shortcut on desktop is displaying a padlock. What does this mean and how do I get rid of it?

The Firefox shortcut on my desktop is displaying a padlock. It did not have this earlier today and I have no idea where it came from or what it means. When opening Firefox with this shortcut the page is then outlined in red. Does anybody know what has caused this and how to get rid of it?

First, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive might be failing.
There are a few other possible causes of generalized slow performance that you can rule out easily.
If you have many image or video files on the Desktop with preview icons, move them to another folder.
If applicable, uncheck all boxes in the iCloud preference pane.
Disconnect all non-essential wired peripherals and remove aftermarket expansion cards, if any.
Otherwise, take the steps below when you notice the slowdown.
Step 1
Launch the Activity Monitor application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Activity Monitor in the icon grid.
Select the CPU tab of the Activity Monitor window.
Select All Processes from the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected.
Click the heading of the % CPU column in the process table to sort the entries by CPU usage. You may have to click it twice to get the highest value at the top. What is it, and what is the process? Also post the values for % User, % System, and % Idle at the bottom of the window.
Select the System Memory tab. What values are shown in the bottom part of the window for Page outs and Swap used?
Next, select the Disk Activity tab. Post the approximate values shown for Reads in/sec and Writes out/sec (not Reads in and Writes out.)
Step 2
If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
Launch the Console application in the same way you launched Activity Monitor. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
Select the 50 or so most recent entries in the log. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V). You're looking for entries at the end of the log, not at the beginning.

Why does firefox change fonts when I am trying to download or get help, click and enter keys are disabled why?

I recently did a clean install of windows7 after returning from Europe and installed Mozilla firefox being fed up with microsoft and google .
Fire fox seemed to be working ok but 7 out of 10 downloads were failing, and it seemed that every ebsite entered in the address bar turned into a question.
There was no save shortcut, or paste buttons just a set of to me useless buttons first html, last html, then when I tried to contact help all of a sudden I got a "install fonts" notice and the enter key stopped working,
and any action key was also disabled without advising me.
It appears that either Mozilla or someone doesn't want me using firefox.
I also noticed that the clean disk and other utilities didn't work and that the temp and temp internet folders were empty when I tried to open them but they actually had some 25 megabytes in them when queried as administrator. I also noticed a quick flash reference to Jscript=void,
and my 32 bit computer suddenly started up as a 64 bit Turion.
scan and system clean said machine was clean.
Whats going on here?

Can you undo the system restore?
Note that using System Restore can cause your Firefox installation to get corrupted because not all files are restored (only files in a white-list), so be cautious with using System Restore.
*You may lose data in the Firefox profile folder like .js and .ini files pr profiles.ini can be affected.
*You may need to (re)install software that was affected.
In case you need to reinstall Firefox then you need to delete the Firefox program folder before reinstalling to make sure that all files get replaced.

Everytime I use firefox to connect to the internet I get an alert saying that firefox could not initialize the applications security component. What does this mean and how do I fix it?

When I use firefox to get on to the web I get the following message everytime: "Alert: Could not initialize the applications security component. Any search toolbar and changes to search engines can take place by downloading and installing software; usually "free" software from the internet. Babylon can be downloaded and installed by itself or as a "ride-along" when installing/updating some software from the internet. Always look for an opportunity during the installation to un-check boxes that will install "ride-along" items that you do not want. Firefox installation does not include such "ride-along" items.

Firefox changes the "order" of my multiple display from 4-3-1-2 to 2-1-3-4

When my PC starts, the "order" of my monitors in Control Panel | Display | Screen Resolution is: 4-3-1-2
After I start Firefox, it changes the "order" to 2-1-3-4
I have to go into the Control panel and Change the appearance of your displays back to 4-3-1-2
I'm using Windows 8.1 with Firefox as my default browser. Everything is up-to-date.
I've had this problem for a long, long time, I've just never gotten around to seeking help for it. Always having to go into the Control Panel to "rearrange" by monitors is a nuisance.
Any assistance to resolve this problem would be greatly appreciated!

I've never heard of something like this. But I suppose it's possible that it has something to do with hardware acceleration. Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
Then perform these steps:
#Open Firefox ''Options'' window (''Preferences'' on Mac or Linux) as follows:
#* In Firefox 29.0 and above, click the menu button [[Image:New Fx Menu]] and select ''Options'' for Windows or ''Preferences'' on Mac or Linux.
#* In Firefox 28.0 and previous versions, click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
#In the Firefox Options (or Preferences) window, click the ''Advanced'' tab, then select ''General''.
#In the settings list, you should find the ''Use hardware acceleration when available'' checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.

My organization blocks IE. We can't access anything externally with IE except for approved exceptional situations. They don't block Chrome and FireFox. Visual Studio 2015 (and maybe also earlier versions) appear to use IE internally to
sign in to VSO, display help, download packages, etc. Third party plugins do the same (probably by default). Is there any way to change VS' internal browser from IE to another browser? I'm sure that its using IE because I have used Wireshark
to monitor the traffic, pick out the "forbidden" URL, and have my IT add an exception for the URL. While this process works, it is slow. Plus there is the risk of discovering a new URL too near a deadline, IT unexpectedly removing
the exceptions, etc.
NOTE: Changing to an "external editor" in Tools | Options | Environment | Web Browser does not work. It still uses IE.
NOTE: Its not a proxy issue. I have the proxy setup in IE (Tools | Internet Options | Connections | LAN Settings). I have also tried adding the proxy to the devenv.exe.config. I then realized it is just IE getting blocked. If

I don't know what you mean by using Wireshark to pick out a forbidden URL. What would that have to do with Internet Explorer? If a URL is forbidden then nothing should be able to connect to it.
Perhaps the internal WebBrowser in Visual Studio, which Visual Studio 2012 apparently uses as well as Internet Explorer I suppose, gets its settings from Internet Explorer. At least that's what the image below appears to advise. As any settings altered in
Internet Explorer are used by the internal webbrowser except for homepage I guess.
Therefore this may work or not. Use Firefox from the machine your Visual Studio is on and navigate to
http://whatsmyuseragent.com/ so you can see the user agent that Firefox uses. Copy and paste the user agent into notepad or something. Then go to this link
How-To Geek How to change your browsers user agent without installing any extensions and perhaps you can alter Internet Explorer to use a Firefox user agent. That may fool the firewall so it thinks Firefox is being used as I don't know how it could know
otherwise which browser is being used. Although if it works it may tick off your IT guys.

Firefox crashed and quit working and since then crashes when I try to open it; I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, creating a new profile, and starting in safe mode - what else can I try?

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

Since upgrading to the latest version of Firefox (15.0.1) any keystrokes I enter into the Google search box do not register.

Hope someone can help with this! Since upgrading to Firefox 15.0.1 most, but not quite all, keystokes I enter do not register. I've checked that my keyboard is working and it's absolutely fine with any other applications, including Internet Explorer which I've had to resort to using in order to post this question, as I can't fill in the fields using Firefox.

First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [[Backing up your information]]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
Next, restart Firefox in Firefox's Safe Mode ([[Safe Mode]]) using
Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
In the dialog, click "Start in Safe Mode."
If input boxes work correctly, this points to one of your extensions or custom settings as the problem.
Note that Safe Mode also disables hardware graphics acceleration. Before sorting through all your extensions, if you have noticed performance problems or display artifacts, try disabling hardware acceleration in Firefox (in normal mode).
You usually need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
