My Firefox.exe process remain open after I close the browser. If I open it it's says to open a new window.I need to close the process manualy(Ctrl+Alt+del). What can I do?Thanks .

Need to close the process.

It does take Firefox a while to shut down; it has to update some databases. But it should take less than a minute.
In the support article, this problem is called a "hang at exit" because Firefox hangs when shutting down. Maybe something here will help: https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Firefox+hangs#Hang_at_exit
Also, sometimes open Firefox windows disappear from the Task Bar. You can use Alt+Tab to switch to them if they remain open.

A new tab opens by default as a blank tab (about:blank).
If that isn't the case then an extension has changed that behavior.

You can middle-click or hold down Ctrl and left-click the Home button on the Navigation toolbar to open the Home page in a new tab.
You can look at this extension to set which page to open in a new tab:

I am having a problem with getting a smaller version of firefox every time I open a new window but it is blank, it looks like your web page, I have to close it out to view my page I was opening. I ran a virus scan and there is nothing. I have windows and firefox is my home page, btw when I go to IE I do not have this problem, Seems like when firefox installs a new version something happens,.

  • Under Windows 7, 64-bit, Firefox intermittently will not open a new window - all I get is a grey screen, with a tiny part of my homepage displayed in the top left corner of the screen.

The problem began after a recent Firefox update. Occasionally, when I try to open a new Firefox window, all I get is a grey screen with a tiny section of my homepage visible in the top left corner of the screen. NOTE: Firefox stores all of these aborted attempts, as, whenever I close it and then re-open it, the first time I open a new window it automatically opens all of the windows that had originally failed to open.

Got the exact same problem aswell, finally fed up with it now as i just started up firefox and 14 new windows opened because of this bug, luckily my computer can handle them but someone with a slower processor it would have been a nightmare, needs fixing ASAP.

  • Firefox browser will not close, even when using ctrl/alt/del

I downloaded the 4.0 beta firefox today, and have been using it most of the day with good success. Then I noticed when I closed the browser, the icon stayed active on my task bar. I clicked the icon and the browser reappeared on my screen. I tried several times to close it, the last time using ctrl/alt/del and task manager to cancel it. Nothing worked. I have a Dell Studio 1749 with Windows 7 , 64 bit, which may be the sorriest OS since Windows Millennium. Any help I can get would be greatly appreciated.

Isn't it {Shift+Ctrl+ESC} to open the Task Manager in Win7?? I know it was changed to that key combination in Vista.

  • There is an error when I want to reinstall the applications that came with my mac (after having reinstalled the Mac OS X DVD). What can I do?

I erased my hard disk and then installed the Mac OS X DVD. After having done this I wanted to install the applications too, for which I introduced the Applications DVD. The DVD is recognized and I follow the instructions given. On the last step, the installation, the Installer shows me a Message. It says that there is an error, and that I should contact the Software developer. It is very weird, because there is no error number or any other explanation. If somebody could help, I would be enormously thankful.

If you have a backup (and I hope you did one as before any potentially dangerous task), you can restore it.
If you don't, but have a recent system, you may try to boot in recovery mode.
If you can't, you have to get another computer (or simply your Windows Mac) to "burn" your system image either on a DVD or a flashdisk (.dmg are just .iso so you can change suffix).
Anyway, each and every data you had on you HDD, including 3rd party apps, would be lost.

    What is the solution?

'''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode|Firefox Safe Mode]] is a troubleshooting mode that turns off some settings and disables most add-ons (extensions and themes).
''(If you're using an added theme, switch to the Default theme.)''
If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu by clicking on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item:<br>

If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:
    * On Windows: Hold the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * On Mac: Hold the '''option''' key while starting Firefox.
    * On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run ''firefox -safe-mode'' <br>(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)

  • Can I use xbootmgr to measure what causes a failure to present credentials screen after ctrl-alt-del?

    Hello,
I have several machines that are producing the same issue that when a user reboots, they are greeted as usual with the "please press ctrl-alt-del to logon" screen.  When that key combination is hit, the info screen is gone, but the "User
logon box" never appears.  By never, I mean it doesn't appear within 2-5 minutes, and the users tend to hard reboot their computers (generally leading to more problems).
I've read that this can be caused by a variety of issues, such as DNS, cable, speed negotiation with the switch port, etc.  However, I am interested in learning if I can use xperfmgr to determine the issue.
From my testing, the ETL is only written once a user logs on to the system.
The invocation I used is as follows:
    "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Windows Performance Toolkit\xbootmgr.exe" -trace boot -traceflags base+latency+dispatcher -stackwalk profile+cswitch+readythread -notraceflagsinfilename -postbootdelay 10 -nopopups -resultPath C:\Boot_Trace
Is it possible to use xbootmgr to measure this situation?
    Thanks,
    Matt

    Hi,
Yes, this tool could to be used to record the boot information.
    Let's make clear something below.
    1. Could you see this screen after pressing "Ctrl+Alt+Delete":
    2. Did you mean that the password inbox disappear?
    3. Could you see above login screen when you start the computer normally?
If all is Ok when you start computer, the xbootmgr.exe - trace boot is not applied.
    Meanwhile, go to  Clean Boot
to see if there is some third-party software to troubleshoot.

  • How do I change firefox to open a new window when I start it several times instead of opening a new tab when I want to go to a different location?

I want to go to several different websites at the same time. I want to compare the information on each site. I do not want to open a tab, I want a whole new window. How do I change firefox so it will open a new window instead of opening a new tab and then requesting the site I want to go to?

In Windows XP I am able to right click a link and get an option to open it as a new Firefox window
    *'''tear off tabs'''
You will probably note tabs can be dragged along the tab toolbar, they also tear off. You can click a tab and drag it off the browser onto the Windows Desktop where it will open as a new window, or drag it on to another open browser window.
An alternative is to click the tab and drag it down, again it will then open in a new Window.

  • Opening a new window in VC

    Hello All,
I am using eventing between two iviews.
Is it possible to open a new window, when I select a certain row from a table using Visual Composer?  If so how do I do it?
    Thanks,
    Nick

    Hi,
Can you explain What is your requirement, if you want to open a new window you need to do as per the reply from  Ari Kumar.
if your query is regarding eventing between two iviews, you can trigger an event in the containing iview with a event defined in the nested iview only when the name of the event is same as that of the signal out defined in the nested iview.
let us know if you need more info.
    Regards,
    Rk.

  • When i double-click the mozilla icon, it doesn't start. In the task manager i noted that the process "firefox.exe" appears and desappear after 5 seconds. The problem remains in mozilla safe-mode, but not in windows safe-mode. Thks!

Yesterday i installed the firefox 6.0 on my windows 7 computer. When i double-click the mozilla icon, it doesn't start. I opened the task manager and noted that the process "firefox.exe" appears and desappear after 5 seconds. I tried to start mozilla in safe mode but the problem remains. The only way to use mozilla in my computer is restarting the windows in safe-mode. Last thing: i already tried to reinstall the program. Please help me!

  • Firefox.exe process remains after closing Firefox

I closed Firefox 5 over 45 minutes ago. At the time it closed, I had around 60 tabs open. The Firefox window closed, but now, over 30 minutes later, firefox.exe is still consuming 624 MB of memory. For the record, currently Windows Task Manager shows firefox.exe consuming 00 CPU, 639,772 K Mem Usage and a Peak Mem Usage of 771,296 K.
I'm seen this behavior at other times and, on those occasions, the firefox.exe process did eventually terminiate and release that memory. Why does firefox.exe take so long to terminate? Is this a bug or just a result of the way I use Firefox? I do tend to have a lot of tabs, 60 to 75, open at any given time. I'm guessing that's more tabs than the typical user.

I should go on to add that I have already seen the Firefox Hangs |Hang at exit document and none of these look like the obvious issue. I'm running Java Version 1.6.0_26, so current there. I'm not running any of the listed Internet security software. The only extensions I'm running are Java Console 6.0.26, ReloadEvery 5.0.0 and Xmarks 4.0.1, so not a lot of extensions.
