  • TS4036 my ipad wifi cellular 16 GB 4G switched off inbetween and is not switching on at all. I have tried to restart by using sleep/wake button, but red slider does not appear. I have recharged battery, still no response. what should i do?

My iPad Wi-Fi cellular 16 GB 4G switched off suddenly, even when the battery was 40% available. It is not switching on again, i have tried restarting by using sleep/wake button, but red slider does not appear. I kept it off like it was overnight, in the morning agin recharged it, but still it is not switching on. it is not responding, except when i connect the charger, it gives a blink noise that recharge has started. I removed the SIM and tried restart it but no response, What should i do to restart it please?

Seems to be working again, I haven't done anything though. And the "wifi" led on my laptop is off, which should mean that the interface is down.
This is driving me crazy I don't understand how the all thing works, if anyone has any tips that would be very nice.
    Thanks!

  • In Mail, is there any keystroke to empty the search box?

I do searches from time to time in Mail and then have to click the little X to empty the search box = is there any keystroke to delete the search and return to All or whatever folder/mailbox I'm in??

Once again I suspect the answer is "No Jim. Just not as we
    know it".
I'm going to shoot from the hip here and suggest you
may be able to use the Shortcut HTML Help Control to execute a
third part search EXE. Maybe this would do what you want.

  • Firefox crashes when I sue the search box in the middle of the screen but is OK if I use the top search box ?

If there is a problem with searching via the default about:home page then try to reset the search engine used on the about:home page.
Reset the <b>browser.startup.homepage_override.mstone</b> pref via the right-click context menu to the default on the <b>about:config</b> page and close and restart Firefox to restore the about:home page to its default.
#Open the <b>about:config</b> page via the location bar
#Type in the Filter bar: mstone
#Right-click the browser.startup.homepage_override.mstone line and select: Reset
    #Close and restart Firefox
If this didn't help then delete the delete the chromeappsstore.sqlite file in the Firefox Profile Folder and repeat the above.

  • I recently upgraded to FireFox 4 on Mac OS 10.6. Prior to that, when I used Google as homepage, it would immediadelty place the cursor in the search box for Google, whether it was starting a new session or a new tab or window.

    {cont. from question}
Now, the cursor always sits at the addressbar after www.google.ca/[cursor], no matter whethor it is a new instance or a new tab (but not new page, that's okay). It's most frustrating to see that I've typed out my search only to have to go and retype in the search box again.
This issue does not exist in Safari or Camino browsers, which I have also used in the past.
Basically, I just want the cursor to appear in the search box as soon as google starts up and instead its going to the address bar.

It sounds like you are having trouble with your internal Hard Drive.
Whilst this is quite serious, sometimes you can fully recover from the situation, depending on what happened.
One of the most useful and reliable rescue utilities is DiskWarrior:
    http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/11707/diskwarrior
If you are lucky it may be something as simple as a damaged HFS+ wrapper, which can be repaired and have you back up on your feet again in relatively short order.
It pays to periodically check the *S.M.A.R.T. Status* of your drive, at the bottom of *Disk Utility.*
This is a self diagnosis function that may indicate impending problems. However if the disk has sustained physical damage, such as caused by a hard knock, nothing will redeem it.

  • Everytime I try to enter something into the search box a further box appears to tell me this is a json file and what program should I use to open it. How can I

I am using Linux mint 12 with firefox.
Everytime I try to type something in the search box a further box appears to tell me this is a JSON file and what program should I use to open it.
This has only happened since reinstalling my system a couple of weeks ago.
I am not really interested in what a json file is I simply want to get rid of this pop up box.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

    '''browser.search.openintab''' userset boolean True
Also in Google search, upper-right-corner settings
You can always force opening a link into a tab with Ctrl+click or Ctrl+Shift+click
If you want the same from a bookmark make sure to set
: '''browser.tabs.loadBookmarksInBackground''' to same value as you have for
    : '''browser.tabs.loadInBackground'''
The last setting is controlled by Tools > Options > Tabs >
:: When I click on a link, switch to it immediately,
which control the difference between Ctrl+click and Ctrl+Shift+click
Items in boldface''' can be set in about:config
    * '''More information on configuration variables''' available in [http://kb.mozillazine.org/About:config_entries about:config entries] and for users not familiar with the process there is [http://kb.mozillazine.org/About:config about:config] (How to change).

  • I have google as my homepage. Is there a way to automatically have the insertion point go to the search box on the page in Firefox 4?

I have windows and have been using safari. It automatically goes to the search box when opening a new tab with google as the homepage. This is the actual search box on the page, not on the menu bar.

Do you really have Google as your home page or the default Firefox home page about:home ?
It should work with the www.google.com page.

  • When using Google Toolbar, and I begin entering a search term, several complete choices appear, but when I click on one of them, autocomplete does not fill in the search box.

Why does the complete suggested search term not appear in the search box when I click on it?

Probably caused by search redirect Malware.

The external DVD/CD Writer will Not appear on your desktop when you attach it to your iMac.  It will appear in "Finder", which is in your Dock.
    Hope this helps

  • I did this -- Windows 7 and Vista 1. Select the Start Menu in the Windows Taskbar. 2. In the Search box, enter the following: %APPDATA% 3. Press Enter. 4. From the Application Data folder, navigate to Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox. 5. D

When I sign out of FF and want to go back in, I have to go through Task Mgr each time by deleting FF and then signing back in. I followed these directions -- Select the Start Menu in the Windows Taskbar. 2. In the Search box, enter the following: %APPDATA% 3. Press Enter. 4. From the Application Data folder, navigate to Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox. 5. Delete the file xpicleanup.dat. 6. Restart Firefox. --- but I could not find Mozilla Firefox under 'Program Files'.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == about a week ago

Where did you find those instructions to delete the '''xpicleanup.dat''' file?

  • I just downloaded 18.0.1; but now I can't use the search box feature on Start Page.

Encouraged recently by Mozilla to update older software. Prior to this had no problem inputting information into the search box of Start Page, clicking "search" and then receiving information.
Now, clicking "Search" does not respond.

hello dkcurt, first please see if installing the search reset addon can resolve the issue: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/searchreset/ (a restart of the browser is necessary afterwards).
otherwise try the following steps in order to manually restore the search function on the default homepage:
#go to firefox > help > troubleshooting information and click on profile folder/show folder. a windows explorer window should open up - in there delete the file named '''chromeappsstore.sqlite'''.
#then enter '''about:config''' into the firefox location bar (confirm the info message in case it shows up) & search for the preference named '''browser.startup.homepage_override.mstone''' - right-click and reset that entry to the default value.
    #restart firefox
