My firefox is more than messed up

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H0IKH7uYXA8&feature=youtu.be
So this problem is almost not to be explained. Please watch the video.
I used youtube because it has a lot of thumbnails. I guess you could say... images mess up, icons like the arrow in my scrollbar get switched by random images in the webpage, my tab bar gets messy as you see in the video...
Since it's happening all over the browser, in the tab bar, the scroll bar, etc.. I thought maybe it's malware but I completely scanned my computer.
It also isn't an add-on because I added add-ons after this problem occuring in my browser.
I guess it must be some very very weird bug that somehow got into my browser. Question is: how do I fix it.

You had me at the site icon fracturing all over the active tab... most likely an incompatibility with your graphics card/chipset driver software. Other users with that issue have worked around it temporarily by disabling Firefox from using hardware acceleration:
"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the "General" mini-tab, uncheck the box for "Use hardware acceleration when available"
This takes effect the next time you exit Firefox and start it up again. Any difference?
Since hardware acceleration improves the appearance of fonts and animations, you may want to check your computer manufacturer's website to see whether any graphics card/chipset driver updates are available for your system.

  • Firefox uses more than 2GB RAM

    Hi,
I'm using HP laptop with OS Windows 7 Professional edition.
I observed in the task bar that firefox consumes more than 2GB of ram just with 3 or 4 tabs.
Could you please let me know what are the memory tweaks or steps to reduce the memory consumption???
Thanks in advance for any help.
    Regards,
    Kathir

Memory usage is influenced by the type of site you use and the additional software Firefox may be using
    * see [[high memory usage]]
Do your tabs include for instance massive webmail databases, or High Definition video.
If you key into the location bar ''about:memory'' you will open an interactive page about memory usage, that should be more informative than the Windows task Manager.

  • Have to click on firefox icon more than once to start the programme

Sometimes I have to click on Firefox icon more than once to start the programme. Multi-clicking on the icon does not always start multiple windows ie the programme just isn't starting sometimes on 1st click.
Firefox always opens when using a hyperlink in an email, document etc.
Have tried creating a new quick launch & also re-installing.
Happens on two PCs - 1x Vista & 1x XP
    All help is appreciated :)

First let me disclose that I am not an expert nor even much less. However I used to have this slow as a turtle opening of FF until I got rid of my antivirus software which at the time was Avast. I switched to Microsoft Security Essentials and have had no problems since. FF loads in 3 to 4 seconds!

  • Cannot open firefox in more than one window

I cannot open Firefox in more than one window. I deleted and reinstalled the latest version but this did not help. I was able to open Firefox in multiple windows prior to installing an update of Avast. Don't think it should have an effect on Firefox.
Downloaded Seamonkey and have no problem with multiple windows.

    Anyone?

  • Open firefox with more than one tab?

Can I open firefox with more than one tab?

Several ways. Look at the tab line. do you see the '''+''' at the end? Also,
'''''Firefox > New Tab > New Tab'''''
or if you have the tool bar, '''''File > New Tab'''''.

  • I click the firefox icon more than one times during several seconds(in order to start firefox),and then my tabs and tab groups will lost!

    HI hirenloong,
I am sorry to hear that Firefox is slow on starting up. It sounds like you "Restore tabs from last time" and that there are 50 or more? [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-takes-long-time-start-up]

  • How do i setup personal settings in firefox for more than one user? each one seperate from the other.

I am accustomed to "accounts" for each family member which can be customized and organized (for example: favorite places) any way the person desires. Is such a feature available on Firefox?
If so, how do I set it up?

Firefox has a profile manager that allows you to create separate Firefox profiles for different users. Each has its own bookmarks, settings, and add-ons. You can check a box to have Firefox always display the profile manager when starting up, so you can choose which one to use. Sound useful? Check out this article: [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Managing-profiles Managing profiles | How to | Firefox Help].
Note: If you have Firefox start up to the profile manager, then when you click a link in another program it may not work unless you opened Firefox first.
An alternate approach is to create individual desktop shortcuts pointed at each profile. This article shows the command line structure: [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Opening_a_new_instance_of_your_Mozilla_application_with_another_profile Opening a new instance of your Mozilla application with another profile - MozillaZine Knowledge Base].

I have continually waited and it says Firefox is not responding and I may be able to see the multiple tabs opened in my browser but cannot navigate or access them.
I have read on various sites that users have had as many as 1500 bookmarks load at once in tabs in the Firefox browser version that are outdated.
I have not been successful with just loading 50 bookmarks my goal is to be able to have 500 tabs loaded in firefox with webpage loading stopped on all of them. I will choose reload for about 10 tabs at a time to view webpage content and then close and move on to the rest.
My ultimate goal is to clear up the Thousands of bookmarks I have piling on for the past 6 years and some are duplicates or similar page sites.
Their is no Firefox 3rd party addons that I could locate that would allow this. Only to restrict the number of tabs loaded by giving warning messages when limit is reached.
Please assist me as it will greatly help me with finally deleting and re-organizing my Favorite and frequent websites in my Browser of choice Firefox.

Firebug is notorious for causing problems like you described.
Disable it when you don't need it or install it in a 2nd Profile. Then you can launch the 2nd Profile separately to use Firebug and not affect what you are doing in the 1st Profile,

  • How do I set or get firefox to print more than one all pages the print using verizon emails is there a setting to change I have been told by verizon techs it is not my printer

when opening an email using verizon emails I can only print one page. I have checked an I do not have a printer or computer problem because the printer prints more than one page with others such as gmail. We feel there is a print setting in firefox that needs to be changed. How do I change this??

That is usually caused by a few different Bugs in Firefox, which seem to be fixed in the Firefox 4.0 betas.

  • I started working for ChaCha, and now firefox will not work unless I manually close it in the process tree every time I want to use it. I also cannot open more than 1 page at a time.

I started working for ChaCha 11/26/2010, I had to download a program to take incoming questions.
Ever since then, Firefox will not work correctly, even if I am totally logged out of ChaCha, and the page is closed, if I try to open my browser using Firefox, it will not open, I have to go into the processor tree and manually end Firefox, then it will work, but it will only let me open 1 page at a time. For example I have Firefox open now, but if I go and click on the icon to open it in a new browser, it will not open, I either have to close this, or use IE-I HATE IE lol.
I cannot use the ChaCha add on you have because it is not for the new version of Firefox, please help, I love Firefox, but not being able to open more than one window/page at a time does not cut it, nor does having to manually stop it from processing. I have tried re-installing it too.
    Thank you, Melinda

I should add that I face the same problem with Safari and Google Chrome.

  • Firefox won't let me open more than one window at a time. how do i fix the problem

Firefox won't let me open more than one window at a time. It use to allow me to open multiple windows before but for no apparent reason it stopped. I uninstalled it and re-installed but I'm having the same problem. How do I fix the problem
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == several days ago

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (on Mac: "Firefox > Quit")

  • Cannot open more than one window with Firefox

I've been having this problem for a couple of weeks, now, and I've run out of ways to try and fix this.
One day, after starting my computer up, I opened Firefox. No big deal, everything looks fine, tabs are working, etc. Then, when I went to open a second window, nothing. The first window still works fine, I can open tab upon tab, but it just won't open any more windows.
As much as I'm a fan of the browser tabs, I still prefer to have them spread out over more than one window.
I've read through a ton of different troubleshooting walkthroughs and whatnot, reinstalled three or four times, restored settings, but nothing works.
Well, not entirely, I guess. Here's the part that I can't quite figure out. When I disable every single addon, Firefox works just fine. I've done the checking down the list, trying to single one out, but it's *any* addon. Even something as simple as a dictionary search ([https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/68/]) causes this to happen.
I've checked with an older computer with an older version of Firefox, and it still seems to work fine with addons enabled, so I'm wondering if this is an update issue?
Would reverting back to a previous version of Firefox solve this, and if so, where would I be able to find downloads for a previous version?
So, like I said, I'm at a bit of a loss here. Sort of at a crossroads for trying to figure out what to try next, so I'm hoping someone a bit more knowledgeable can help steer me in a direction.
Edit: I just noticed that the posting includes system information with my question. I should clarify that I'm posting this from an older computer with an older version of Firefox. On the computer that I'm having this issue with, I'm using the newest version of Firefox (3.6.8).

Some old posts indicate the following add-ons have caused the problem of not being able to open a new window in Firefox in the past. If you have any of them you might want to disable or uninstall them to see if that is causing your problem.<br />

You are using an out-of-date version of Firefox. Unless you have a reason for using that old version, you might want to consider upgrading.
*The Firefox version series 3.0.x is no longer being supported or updated, even for security issues.
*The last version in the 3.0.x series was 3.0.19 which was released 03/15/2010.
*You are using version 3.0.13 which was released 07/31/2009.
Consider upgrading to the current version, Firefox 3.6.8. Firefox 3.6.9 is scheduled to be released in a few days and the new Firefox 4 will be released later this year or early next year.

  • How do I enable Firefox 4 to do a search on more than one word (e.g. "yahoo mail") without receiving the error message "the URL is not valid and cannot be loaded"?

After loading Firefox 4.0, I changed the address bar search engine to Google Search by Name, so I'd be taken straight to the most relevant webpage when I type in a word.
It works fine when I type in one word, but if I use a search with more than one word (e.g. "yahoo mail" or "google maps") I get an alert saying "The URL is not valid and cannot be loaded". Is there any way I can fix the address bar to accept multiple word searches?
I've tried disabling all my add-ons, but it didn't make any difference.

Hi, this should sort out your problem:
    1. Type in "about:config" into the address bar, this will open the settings menu. Click on "I'll be careful, I promise!"
    2. Search for "keyword.URL" in the filter bar.
    3. Enter "http://www.google.com/search?btnI=I%27m+Feeling+Lucky&q=" into the value field.
I'm no expert, but I had the same problem which got on my nerves after being so used to being able to type anything in, and following these steps fixed it.
