My laptop is taking a lot of time to start up.It just shows the Lenovo screen and stops there. What could be the problem?
    Thanksin advance.

    hi mamuninayak,
The system might be experiencing a boot or a POST issue.
    - Remove all USB devices.
    - Remove the AC adapter and battery then held down the power button for 15 sec.
Reconnect just the AC and try.
-See if BIOS can be reset.
Start hiting F2 when while powering the system on.
If succesfull in booting into BIOS. Hit F9 the F10
Try Removing the Harddrive and turn the system on, See if there will be any changes.
    Hope this helps

You'll only be abe to repair permissions on the partition where your operating system is installed. For instance the disk on which I have Lion installed is name MacJoseph so that is the only disk I can repair permission on unless I boot from an install DVD. To do a clean install see these instructions. It's not difficult at all. This article may explain more about a clean install. To re-download the Lion installer open your App store application, at the top of the App store where it say's 'Purchased' hold down the option key while clicking on 'purchased.' This will open your purchases and allow you to download Lion. When the installer finishes downloading quit the installer and it will be in your applications folder. Hope this helps.

wht it takes lot of time while starting mavbook pro???

    abhishek138,
not knowing anything about your MacBook Pro, no one can say. Please provide additional information about it — which model it is, which version of OS X is installed on it, how much RAM it has, what capacity internal disk it has, and how much free space it currently has.

I should have explained further. The game opens in a new window over to the upper left of my screen, leaving the original page underneath. I tried minimizing it so that I could get to my toolbar and did the View > Zoom > Reset. This has no effect. The lower portion of the game is still not showing. Using other browsers the window or frame of the game is much larger, therefore everything shows.

  • [SOLVED] Firefox takes a lot of time to load ...

Since a couple of months I have this little annoying problem with firefox:
It takes 6/7 sec to start.
I use strace to see if I can find what the problem is, but sincerely I am not an expert.
Anyway, I find something interesting ...

Timeout happens only if you start firefox and only if no other instances of firefox

    On reopen same problem.
    On closing no problem.
Same thing if I cancel the profile and start it with a new one.
I tried the -v option with strace but I get

I use an HDD on this machine.
A curious thing is that thunderbird have the same problem.

  • My macbook pro 15" is taking lots of time to start and it shows some blueish purple screen and some graphics error please help

I have bought macbook pro 15" i7, 4gb ram, 500 gb hdd in the month of  March year 2011. I have used it just for watching movies, surfing net and writing script on final draft software. Just two week back I started using final cut pro to edit my short film but suddenly the screen of my macbook turns black and it shuts down. After few minutes I pressed the start button but it took lots of time and open with blue-purple screen. It also get heat very soon. I don't know what the problem is. Please help.

Boot from the install DVD and repair the startup drive
    Then run hardware test
    Using Apple Hardware Test
    Reinstall the OS

Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • It takes a lot of time to start up the imac. Sometimes more than 5 minutes.

Hi people, sometimes my imac 21" (late 2011), takes a lot of time to startup the whole operation system, sometimes it takes more than 5 minutes. I really don´t know if it´s linked to the fact that since I got this imac, I´ve never updated it.
    What can It be? Thanks.

this won't answer the slowness of your mac but i would like to suggest something for you if i may. i was also frustrated at how slow my late 2012 21.5" imac was from the box, this is what i did.
didnt want to tear my mac apart to swap the int. hdd so i purchased a lacie rugged ssd and connected via thunderbolt, the difference was amazing, from powering up to surfing the net.......8 seconds!
from the "gong" to desktop 4 seconds!  there is no cog while it loads!
my advice, get an external thunderbolt enclosure, it doesnt have to be lacie, there are loads out there, and bang a ssd in it.

  • Since the last update (version 12), Firefox takes a lot of time to open new tabs, usually it open them, but i can't see the tabs and browse through them

it also ignore my mouse clicks on tabs.
i can browse them only by ctrl+Tab (but i see only the first tab on the tab bar...)

hello, in order to further diagnose the issue please [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode|run firefox in safemode once]] & see if the problem is occuring there too. if not it may be related to one of your addons or hardware acceleration. in this case try disabling all extensions in tools > addons > extension, restart firefox and reenable the extensions one-by-one (restarts of the browser might be necessary after each time) until you find the one that's causing it. you can disable hardware acceleration in tools > options > advanced > general.
if the two suggestions from above don't help, please also have a look at your security-software & make sure it's not blocking/sandboxing the updated version of firefox or the plugin-container...

  • Firefox is auto loading every time I start Windows 7. How can I stop this from happening?

    Windows 7 - 64 bit. Firefox 7.0.1

I set the default browser to chrome, no change. I then set it to IE, still no change. Every time I boot the computer it starts FF with google as the home page and no bookmarks or toolbars. I must then close it and wait until it is completely dead and then double click on my FF icon on the desktop. When the version of FF that I actually use starts, my home page is Yahoo, just as I set it to be. This version of FF also has my tool bars and bookmarks.

  • Lenovo G500 takes a lot of time to start.

Hello there, guys. I had purchased my Lenovo G500 just last year, and I haven't used it much. Usually I write some letters, watch my university lectures and sometimes a movie and I always scan my laptop for virusesses as well and try to keep as less as data as possible. I have 386gb free out of 424gb in C drive and 21gb free out of 27gb in the other drive, these are the only two drives I have. I don't have any additional software installed in my laptop apart from VLC Media Player, and I've deleted a few default applications such as Skype, Viber, PowerDVD, Zinio Reader and so on as I didn't need them. Now the issue is very simple - When I press the start button, the "Lenovo: screen appears and it stays there for even hours sometimes, it just won't start no matter how long do I wait. I keep restartting and restarting until it finally starts, but even that process takes at least 4 minutes to come to the :Welcome: screen. Howevr when I had newly purchased the laptop, it used to start within few seconds and even for months. This issue is occuring for few months, 2 or 1 specifically that I'm not sure about but no more than 2 months. I want you guys to tell me what appropriate and necessary steps I should take in order to get it back to its same old and new starting speed, my laptop is very clean and rarely used.

I really thought someone would at least bother replying here and say hi if they can't even help me.
Such a useless community forum where I got no assistance for days, I wasted my time registering and checking up on the thread every two or three hours.
Instead I could dedicate the same time on Microsoft or Google and search for volunteer guides rather than sitting with a hope that the ''lenovo support community'' would assist me.

  • Firefox suddenly began opening every time I start my computer. The tab is always there and it never closes. I don't want it to. How can I change it back?

I tried unpinning it but it is still always open.

Hi 1865, if you no longer want email notifications from this thread, come back to your question and look for the QUESTION TOOLS section in the right column where you'll find STOP EMAIL UPDATES.
Hi xSum1x, I suggest using some of the scanning tools in this article as the first step in the clean-up: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware]]. After that, you can use Microsoft's Autoruns utility to see what is running at startup and turn it off (using this tool can be a little overwhelming, but if you focus on the startup tab, it isn't too bad): [http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902.aspx Autoruns for Windows]. Does that clear it up?
