My Firefox just automatically reverted back to version 3.6 - it was @ version 6

I thought this may have happened a couple of times before, but it definitely happend this morning. I was fully updated and running on version 6 yesterday. Then when I first logged on to Firefox this morning, it gave me the notice that it was updating. When it finished I found that it was now running version 3.6. What's up with this?

I too, want to restore to my older version of Firefox after upgrading to version 4. Thank you for posting this with a link to the older version. Just for your information, the reason I want to restore the older version is because the new version is not usable with my version of Zoom text (9.11). It is so incompatible that I had to use IE in order to see the screen well enough to search for a way to revert to my older version. I also was unable to read web pages, enter data in the URL or Search windows or select menu options. . Often, when using version 4 big black blocks will appear where ever the cursor is, the menus will appear in different sizes and when I move the mouse to select a menu item the menu will jump to a new location. In short it doesn’t work at all with Zoomtext!
Really I wish you would have warned us of how different this version is and it might have been a good idea to review potential problems before upgrading. That really would have been the nice and polite thing to do! I'm visually impaired and having to search for a solution and then having to go about the un-install and re-install process is time consuming and difficult for me. And again, it was so bad that I had to use IE to even be able to read this webpage, enter this reply, or to get to this solution.

In Firefox preferences/advanced/update uncheck download and automatically install updates. Instead check ask me what to do.

Profile picture automatically reverting back

Did anyone notice that or is it something that has to be set up separetely? If profile picture for the contact is updated using social app after an hour or so it automatically reverts back to the old one.
Spent good half an hour yesterday to updated all of my contacts just to find out they all are back to the previous low resolution images that used to be applied in the old version of the social app.
on the good side, social app now applies high res images making it look so much better. If only it would stay there....

1. If you log in automatically, a bug in some versions of OS X will cause the desktop picture to revert to the default image at every startup. The only known workaround is to disable automatic login in the Users & Groups preference pane.
2. If the selected Desktop picture is stored in an iPhoto library on an external drive, export it from iPhoto and move it to a folder on the startup volume. (Credit for this solution to ASC member janay.)
3. If the desktop picture always reverts to a plain blue background, one of your login items may be causing the problem. The "TeamViewer" application can have this effect; see this thread. If it's not that in your case, rule out all other third-party login items as possible causes.
4. If you have a MacBook Pro with automatic graphics switching, disable it temporarily in the Energy Saver preference pane, set the Desktop picture, then restart the computer and re-enable graphics switching.
5. If none of the above applies to you, proceed as follows.
Back up all data.
In the Finder, hold down the option key and select
          Go ▹ Library
from the menu bar. From the Library folder, delete the following item, if it exists:
          Caches/com.apple.systempreferences
and move the following items to the Desktop, if they exist:
          Application Support/Dock/desktoppicture.db
          Preferences/com.apple.desktop.plist
Launch System Preferences and test. If you still have the issue, put the items you moved to the Desktop back where they came from and post again. Otherwise, delete the items.

How do I configure Firefox to automatically open the latest version of a web site instead of a cache version

I can not work out how to set Firefox to automatically load the latest version of a web site. I have web sites in my bookmarks and it does not look on the internet for the latest version and furthermore using F5 does not work . I need to be able to find a way to have it auto set to look for the latest version live on the internet.

Can you please expand on your issue? As far as I can see all the previous functions of 11 are in 12 albeit shown differently. Using get info to edit date is still possible, again it looks and feels different.

If you follow the instructions I gave it does not delete the profile folder where the user data such as bookmarks are stored. When you install the earlier version it will use the same profile data so you do not lose your user data.

I am running 10.8.2 and my Safari bookmarks keep changing to some very old bookmarks i had. I replace the bookamrks plist from my time machine backup but they automatically revert back. Please help!

Looks that your current profile isn't working properly.
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)

Both Mail and Safari have Activity Options that open a screen that shows you just how the site or mail is loading.
In Safari if you are having trouble with a site in activity you will see the count of items being downloaded - and if an error occurs it shows red.
On the top is the number of items it is loading or trying to load and the count should be increasing. If the count stops, and you don't have errors it may be that too many people are going after the same site and your request just timed out. Have had the time out on a news site when trying to load a most popular article.

How can I revert back to version 5.1 from 6.1. Bluetooth support told me that version 6.1 is not supported. I highly doubt it. My voice recognition reconizes " Call my wife command".

I just bought a new car. Hyundia Hybrid. My bluetooth is not Reconizing my command to call a contact. I've been back to the dealer and no luck. When speaking to Bluetooth support directly he doesn't see Version 6.1. and suggested going back to Version 5.1 which is documented to be compatable with my Iphone 4s.

I'm sorry, but Apple does not provide a downgrade path for iOS. Because downgrading is unsupported by Apple we cannot discuss it on these forums, but you can use Google to find information on how to install an older version of iOS on any iDevice.

For those that really need an earlier version of Firefox, find your system and the Firefox version you want in releases, download and start the install.

When reinstalling Firefox from a download, Firefox must be down once the installation starts. When the installation finishes, don't let the install start firefox for you. Instead end the install and start Firefox in your normal manner, thus preventing creating a new profile which does not have your bookmarks cookies, etc (but your old profile would still be around and would).
Maybe you were looking for this (I think I would stick to 3.6.* on such a machine) No idea if they have anything for later than version 4.

Currently the commonest specific cause of Crashes (and again this is known to affect Firefox 3.6 also) is due to a component of ''idvault''. Note the software developer involveed is WhiteSky, and they are aware of the issue and working on a fix. (a bug has been filed).
