My Firefox Start Page has no Location Bar

When I open my Firefox Starter Page (after I installed the update) all it has on it, at the very top, are 4 tabs:"Latest Headlines; Most Visited;Getting Started;Google Search". The whole rest of the Starter Page is blank. The "Getting Started" tab is useless because it shows a "Starter Page" that looked like the one I used to have. I repeat I have no location bar or anything at all to use to try and get the starter page looking like the one I had.

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in full screen mode (press F11 or Fn + F11 to toggle; Mac: Command+Shift+F).

If you are in full screen mode then hover the mouse to the top of the screen to make the Navigation Toolbar and Tab bar appear.
Click the Maximize button (top right corner of the Navigation Toolbar) to leave full screen mode or right-click empty space on a toolbar and choose "Exit Full Screen Mode" or press the F11 key.
Press the F10 key or tap the Alt key to bring up the hidden "Menu Bar" temporarily.

*View > Toolbars (press F10 to display the menu bar)

  • My Mozilla Firefox Start Page has changed

My Mozilla Firefox Start Page changed without me doing anything to change it. I had the old style that said "you are not on the latest version of firefox" and I liked it. Now, I cannot get it back. What do I have to do to get it back?

Install this extension to reset your homepage to the default.
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/searchreset/
It will do the "reset" and then disappear from the Add-ons Manager.
BTW, "you are not on the latest version of firefox" message sounds like the Firefox Home Page from Firefox 3.6 and earlier versions. So if the "default" isn't what you want - See - [[How to set the home page]]

  • The Google logo image has dissappeared on my Firefox start page about 4-5 days ago

Mozilla Firefox Start Page has no Google image as it did until about 4 days ago. Restarting did not get it back.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Home Page - the search engine on my Firefox start page used to be google and has now changes to Ask . How to I get google back

I suspect some toolbar has changed the search engine on my home page which is the standard Mozilla Firefox start Page. It used to be google but now is Ask. I want to change it back to Google.

You can open the <b>about:config</b> page via the location bar and do a search for <i>ask.com</i> via the Filter at the top of the about:config page.<br />
You can reset all <i>ask.com</i> related prefs that appear bold (user set) via the right-click context menu to their default values.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

  • Can I change the Google search bar on the Mozilla Firefox Start Page to direct searches to google.co.uk, as it currently directs me to google.fr and I do not speak French (even though I live here!).

I like the Mozilla Firefox Start Page and I do find Google fairly useful (albeit that I have dumped Chrome for Firefox due to Google's constant badgering to sign-up to their social network "circles" etc) - but my gripe is that I am redirected to google.fr NOT google.co.uk (my 1st preference) or google.com (2nd preference). Yes, I am located in France. No, I am not French and most of the information I am looking for is contained on UK or US web pages. I found the same problem with the provided Google search engine in the top right bar, so removed it in favour of Yahoo (which I am not a fan of either!). Any advice would be gratefully received. Thx.

Many thanks for the prompt reply, ideato.
One of the reasons I abandoned Chrome in favour of Firefox was due to the "black band of doom" that appears on the top of the Google page - so setting up my homepage to google.co.uk just puts that back in the ugly spotlight.
I was, though, pleasantly surprised to see a Google search bar on the Mozilla Firefox Start Page (without the black band and Google options that I am just not interested in) but bitterly disappointed that it is Google.fr (due to my ISP being French).
I shall learn to live with Yahoo (or worse case scenario, Bing!)

<u>''Windows'' Method 1.</u> '''''Hold down''''' the key and press the following letters in this exact order: V T M then release the key
<u>''Windows'' Method 2.</u> Tap once on the F10 key, while the Menu bar is visible, choose "View > Toolbars", click "Menu Bar" so that a check mark is placed next to Menu Bar

  • I reinstalled Firefox and somehow I lost the tool bars all I see is the "Firefox" and a "Firefox Start Page" tab, but nowhere to type in the web addreess

I reinstalled Firefox and somehow I lost the tool bars all I see is the "Firefox" tab and a "Firefox Start Page" tab, butdon't get the next line to enter the webaddress.
I had gotten some other extraneous tool bars up there an deleted them.
I have uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled it but the problem still exists.

Press "Alt" then View > Toolbars, and checkmark any missing toolbar.
You can make '''Firefox 6.0.2''' look like Firefox 3.6.*, see numbered '''items 1-10''' in the following topic [http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/firefox-problems.htm#fx4interface Fix Firefox 4.0 toolbar user interface, problems (Make Firefox 4.0 thru 8.0, look like 3.6)]. There is a lot more beyond those first 10 steps listed, if you want to make Firefox more functional.

  • My Bars are all stacked one on top of the other ie ASK A QUESTIONS, under that: File, Edit, History etc, under that Mozilla Firefox start page, tab tab etc. This uses 1/3 of my screen, can I make it all one bar

I don't know how to insert a screen shot of my problem but as described above, right now I have 5 bars on top of my window.
    1. Ask a question under that
    2. File Edit View History Bookmarks Tools Help under that
3; Mozilla Firefox start page (tab Ask a Question)
    under that
    4. Address line (www.you ask me.com) under that
    5. Latest headlines, most visited, City of Balch Springs etc.
I don't want all these bars and I don't want all that window space used.
What ever you can do to help will be GREATLY appreciated
    Thanks
    Al

Thanks for the reply however, I don't want to "not show" these toolbars I just don't want them stacked one on top of the other. See what I mean with the snapshot attached. (Hopefully attached)

  • How can I make Mozilla Firefox Start Page use Google search instead of SearchCompletion search?

I have just upgraded Firefox 9 to 10. I noticed when I fire up Firefox at the Start Page and enter a query at the search bar, the resulting pages are from SearchCompletion engine.
How do I make Google search engine as the default engine at the Firefox Start Page ... like it has always been?
Seems like one of those irritating changes that happens when upgrading versions...

Do a malware check with some malware scan programs. You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of the database before doing a scan.

  • How do I get to the firefox start page (that says Google)?

When I click on the Firefox icon on my XP desktop, I just get a blank page. Sometimes it just goes to Yahoo.
I just want the Firefox start page that has Google (blank). Because that is where my bookmarks are.

Look at the top of the Firefox where it says '''File Edit View History Bookmarks Tools Help''' and click on the Tools ->Options ->General
If you have the Menu bar hidden and have a orange Firefox button then click on the an look to righe side of that menu where it says "Options"
If you want the Firefox start page as home page then set it as
    http://www.google.com/firefox/

  • Why can't I return to Firefox Start Page

When I log on to Firefox I get the Firefox Start Page. If I then go to A, and then to B, and then to C (for example), GO BACK ONE PAGE will take me back to B, and then to A, but no further. It will not take me back beyond A to the Start Page. This has only started happening since I installed Firefox 4.0. This is very annoying.

I should add that the History menu may still list those pages, as it lists 12-15 of the most recently loaded pages regardless of what tab loaded them. You can access that using either:
    * "3-bar" menu button > History (look below the recently closed tabs and windows)
    * (menu bar) History menu -- you can tap the Alt key to display the menu bar temporarily if you don't usually show it
    * History Sidebar (Ctrl+h) -- this can be sorted in various different orders

  • How do I stop the "Mozilla Firefox Start Page" from loading everytime I start Firefox? My home page is opening AND the (totally useless) 'start page'.

Just installed Firefox on my second Windows machine (running XP Home). Unlike my other installation, every time I start Firefox I get TWO tabs - my home page AND a "Mozilla Firefox Start Page" that contains only a Google search input. I don't need the useless start page, but haven't found anything that tells me how to stop it from loading.

Try This works good for those who aren't computer tech savvy like me
Type about:config in the address bar
Click I'll be careful, I promise if prompted
In the Filter input field type startup
    Double click on startup.homepage_override_url
Delete the text string and click OK
Close Firefox and reopen the window to verify that it has worked.
    Hopefully this helps!
I just tried this myself and it totally worked for me Good Luck

  • How do I stop Firefox Start Page using AVG Safe Search?

When I use the search bar on the Firefox Start Page it uses AVG Safe Search. How can I change this so it uses Google instead?

See the [[Firefox has just updated tab shows each time you start Firefox]] article for details of how to solve this.

  • I want Google as my primary browser when I open the firefox start page

When I open the firefox start page and type a question, the answer is provided by Ask.com. I don't want ask.com to be my primary browser on this home page. I want Google. How do I make Google my primary browser on the firefox start page?

I did manage to paste that code in the location bar and for that brief episode I had a google search engine for the fire start page. However, when I closed id down and re-booted the page, it reverted to ask.com as the primary search engine so that really did not solve my problem. By the way, the start page that I have does not show google to the left of the large central bar of the start page. I wonder if I should uninstall google 7 and reinstall it? I probably would lose my favorites and I don't want to lose them by doing this. Somewhere in this computer ask.com is flourishing just like a virus. I removed it's toolbar permanently both in extensions and in the programs section to no avail.
