My Firefox Update fails to install everytime it tries. Why is this happening? I don'have any other version of Firefox installed.

It asks me to check if I have another version installed. I had the Beta thing but not anymore. I don't have another one. But the update simply fails to install.

Monday I ended up on the phone with Apple Support just to be sure I was doing the right thing and to check my back up info so I could be sure I didn't loose important data. They were very nice and helped me finish the process. When I told the tech that I couldn't download the new update and install from my iphone that is when I went to the computer and that's when I got this recovery mode thing on my phone. He told me there must have been a problem and that is why he thinks I couldn't down load it from the phone. I had to go to ITunes on my computer. Once we did the recovery we were able to check that I had a back up from the day before, so I didn't loose anything. He stayed with me til the process finished. I also found out I can prevent the auto sync for the future by setting the directions on that.
I am good now and my phone is operating fine, with the new update. Thank you all who commented back to me.

Just bought a MacBook Pro 13" Retina for my wife (yesterday). Having the same issue, iPhoto wont install, says i need 8.2. But I cant update to that version. Tried the App Store, but it says this computer is not compatible with that OS (really). Tried the link above, and it wont install becauase it says there is not enough room on the harddrive. If I update firefox to the new version 18 and then try to use any websites that don't have anything to do with firefox it says "Problem loading screen" and it does the same with any version past 3.5.14 exept if I update to version 3.6.24 then all the screens are just white and at the bottom it says "Updating Add: Codec-V".

Firefox keeps deleting parts of my yahoo toolbar--why is this happening?

Some of the icons on my Yahoo toolbar keep getting deleted. Everytime I reinstall them, the next time I restart the computer, they are again deleted. I assume this problem happened the last time I updated Firefox. How do I correct this problem?

Why am I not able to type in new URLs in the location bar either in my current tab or any new tab in the middle of my session? I've never had this problem with any other version of Firefox.

For example, I had several tabs open in Firefox 4 just now. For no apparent reason, when I opened a fifth tab, I couldn't click on the location bar or type anything into it even with repeated attempts. I either have to start Firefox again or try going back to a tab that is already open with a page loaded and type into the location bar there. That worked for me to be able to get to this website. This is very frustrating and seriously hampering my ability to use Firefox--which I have previously always been impressed with. I have a 2 year old Dell Optiplex 755 running Windows Vista.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Sometimes when I close FF and want to start it again message apears "Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system.". Why is this happening ?

That can happen if Firefox doesn't close properly and there is still a hanging Firefox process running.

Desktop 4.7 (or any other version) will not install

I'm a newbie, but not illiterate. Love my new Storm, but the Desktop software just WON'T install, either off the CD or from the download (same for versions 4.5 and 4.6, which i tried). Running Vista Ultimate.
On execting 470_b050_english_nomediamanager, the deocmpression is fine. It goes thru the script fine until it tries to actually install the program.. it freezes, just sits there (until it times out). I've scoured the Internet trying to find what might casue this problem. But most people are reporting "sync" problems AFTER they've installed.
I don't think it's another process running. I don't think it's contention with a Vista Service (tho i can't prove that). Other InstallShield apps install fine. And i don't think it's Norton Internet Security. But it's something. Will somebody more knowledgable please ask me questions? This is driving me nuts!

Are you saving the file to a separate directory like c:\temp then executing the file?
or are you executing the file from the download screen. I recommend the second.

This only happens every so often, and I'm wondering if it's a certain website I'm on. It's just annoying and only recently started.

If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.

Beta 4 ver 6 installed on Mac Snow Leopard 10.6.4 will not run, will not delete, cannot reinstall any other version of mozilla, also mozilla help is useless and too confusing, is there not just a simple email address to ask for help?

Firefox tries to run, mac says name too long. It will run only when mounted but will not run from Applications. It refuses to delete and stays in trash, must use combinations of DropNuke2 and Trash to get it to delete I think! Then when trying to put any other version of Firefox in Applications, Finder states name already exists then refuses to move the Firefox application to APplications! Never had problems with Firefox until installed the stupid beta 4 ver 6!

It turns out that there's something wrong about permissions.
Here's the fix:
(1) log in as the +root user+
(2) type +chown -R Michael:staff ~Michael+
(3) log out the +root user+
(4) log in your account
(5) done!
