My firefox (Windows 7) doesn't let print preview work.

Today, Firefox won't let me use Print Preview. I get a pop-up notice that says Print Preview is preparing ... . Then, it times-out. This is the first time this has happened. It has always worked right away. The message also says something about Firefox being the problem.
I then checked it in IE and print preview worked perfectly. If this is a Firefox problem, shall I expect the error to be corrected by Firefox?

This might be a strange question, but do you have a antivirus on your PC? Is there a program permission that might be blocking Firefox to use your default reader?

Also, does the same thing happen when you File > Print but click the pdf preview?

  • Windows Store doesn't let me upgrade to 8.1, says I am not administrator

    Hello, I am trying to upgrade my Windows 8 to Windows 8.1 with Windows Store. But Store refuses to let me download, saying I do not have administrator rights. I am with an administrator account and a ms account login. But it still doesn't let me. I
    put UACs at minimum. I tried creating a new admin account, same problem. With the integrated account Administrator, which was desactivated, I can't access Store at all. I did all the updates, I ran a MS FixIt utility to checkproblems with Windows update,
    it fixed nothing.....
    How can I upgrade to Windows8.1? Actually my question should be, how do I give myself the rights to do it?
    I am really not happy of not having rights on my own machine.
    Thank you for your help. I am really lost here :)

    Try this it worked for me
    First, find where all the updates for windows are listed.  Go to Control Panel ---> Programs.  Then under Programs and Features, you'll see a link called "View Installed Updates".  Under Microsoft Windows, scroll until you find KB2871389.
     Uninstall it, and then accept the prompt to reboot your computer.
    Now, login under your account (that has admin privileges) and then go to the corner until the floating menu comes up and choose settings.  From settings choose change PC settings at the bottom.  Then, click on "windows
    update" at the bottom of the right hand side of your screen.  Check for updates now and it will take a few minutes, but they will find one (KB2871389).  There
    is a message telling you that it will download automatically in a few days, but ignore that, click on the link for one important update, and choose install now (or some such thing).
    Log in on an admin account, go to the store, choose the 8.1 update, and now, no admin problems.
    I had exactly the same problem and this worked a charm!
    I was unable to install 8.1 despite using my Admin account, but this fixed it.
    But I worry for anyone who doesn't have tech knowledge, because this is the last thing in the world anyone would consider trying.

  • Instructions immediately talk about Firefox Window, but doesn't say how to get this window.

    It's taken me almost an hour to get to this point. I am technologically challenged. I have an old version of Firefox. The instructions immediately launch into the "Firefox Window" but says nothing about how to get to this window. Where is this window? Maybe I should just download Opera?

    What instructions are you talking about and what do you want to accomplish?
    Note that it is not safe to use such an outdated Firefox version that has known disclosed security vulnerabilities, so please update to the current Firefox 33 release.

  • Smart form PRINT PREVIEW working on one box but not on other box

    Hi Guys,
    I have one program which works on DV1 box but is not working on DV2 box. It is NOT giving short dump. In this program there is PRINT PREVIEW button. This print preview button is work in DV1 but not in DV2. DV1 & DV2 are ECC 6 and we installed SAP service pack.
    I will really appreciate if somebody can give me some direction.
    Thanks,
    mini

    Program is save in both the boxes. DV2 has SAP service pack, but DV1 not. I think this problem is related to FONTS not being supported by service pack.
    How can I fix this?
    Thanks,
    mini

  • I used to use a bookmark for maximizing the firefox window, but in FF9 it no longer works.

    Before upgrading, I used the following snippet of code in the "Location" field of a Bookmark:
    javascript:self.resizeTo(screen.availwidth,screen.availheight);self.moveto(0,0);
    However, with FF9 that no longer works. I attempted to change the front portion (before the open parenthesis) to:
    browser.window.resize_to
    but after I remove focus from the text box, it adds the "http://" to the front of the code and a "/" to the end of it. I have two questions:
    #1. Is there a way to stop Firefox from adding the "http://" and "/" to the location box?
    #2. Is there a better way to set up the bookmark (or another quick-access method) to automatically resize the window?

    You can only do that in the Scratchpad if an XUL window like about:addons or about:config is open.
    *Firefox/Tools > Web Developer > Scratchpad (Shift+F4)
    You can no longer run JavaScript code via the location bar in Firefox 6 and later.<br />
    You can see an error message in the Tools > Error Console.<br />
    That code now gets a null principal for security reasons and doesn't have any effect (Bug 656433).<br />
    You need to create a (keyword) bookmarklet and run the code by invoking that bookmark.<br />
    Use the Scratch pad (Firefox > Web Developer > Scratchpad; Shift+F4) to run JavaScript code.<br />
    Open a tab with an XUL page like about:addons (Tools > Addons) to be able to resize or move a window via JavaScript code in the Scratchpad in Firefox 9+.<br />

  • New Window 7 download-2 side printer not working.

    My computer has been upgraded with Window 7 software. I was able select  2 side printing under the Micosoft XP software. Now when I select print and go to Printer Properties, I am only allow select Print on Both Side (Manually). This will be time consuming when I have to print presentations.
    How can I get back to the original Print Properties that has 2 side print selection?

    In the future please read this post then provide some details in your post such as  - what printer?
    Most likely the issue is that the duplexer has not been enabled, you can address this as described in the Vista/Windows 7 Duplex Printing Troubleshooting Guide.

  • Status bar in CS4 doesn't show print preview

    Hi,
    From what I've seen, not too many people used that... but I just noticed that Photoshop CS4 lacks a feature present in previous versions...
    In CS3, for example, we could click on the Status bar to get a preview of the printed dimension of our image... but it gone now.
    Screen shot of CS3:
    When we clicked on the status bar, it gave us an overview of the printed file size. When we Alt+Click on it, it gave us the informations that we can now see when we click the status bar. When we Ctrl+click, it gave us the same info as when we Ctrl+Click now... That means that the Ctrl+Click was kept and that the left click was replaced by the content of the old Alt+Click...but the regular left click isn't present anymore...
    Anybody have any idea where is that feature now or why they removed it? For those who knew about it, it was a very pleasing feature...
    Nelson

    All part of the new "improved" user interface that came with CS4.
    Like a lot of handy features it's gone.

  • Firefox will not perform correctly when I open new Firefox windows

    The only Firefox windows that work correctly are the first window I open (which has tabs saved) and the window that opens when I go into tools> options> help, any other new Firefox window I open wont let me open a new tab or window from the page I am on (I can still open new tabs with the bookmarks or new tab button), I can't use the back page/forward page/refresh page/stop loading page buttons and the page I am on doesn't show in the address bar.

    go to Help Menu -> select "Restart with Add-ons Disabled"
    Firefox will close then it will open up with just basic Firefox. Now do this:

  • Problem with window.close() and print preview in IE

    Hi all,
    In IE, when window.close() or self.close() is executed, the window is closing perfectly. But when after opening a print preview window from file menu in IE and after closing the print preview with [X] button, then the window.close() is not working. Is there any solution to close the window even after closing the print preview window? here is the sample code.
    1) Close.htm
    <HTML>
    <TITLE>TEST</TITLE>
    <BODY>
    <SCRIPT LANGUAGE="javascript">
    function CloseMe()
    window.close();
    //self.close();
    </SCRIPT>
    <INPUT TYPE="button" ONCLICK="CloseMe()" VALUE="Close Me">
    </BODY>
    </HTML>
    Thanks,

    Why'd you start a new thread once you got an answer on the thread linked above ( and even acknowledged it ) about the fact a that it was not a Java query?Because last time it was a JSP forum, which is not JavaScript obviously, but this is a Java forum, and the designers, obviously, simply neglected to include Script in the name, of course. ;-):D Why, oh, why did they have to call it JavaScript! (And before someone starts, that was a rhetorical question!)

  • With newest Mac OS, Lion, a print preview is no longer available when printing a page directly from the website.

    When I used the operating system, Snow Leopard, there was no Firefox. Lion is the latest operating system and Snow Leopard was the latest system before Lion was introduced. Also, there is no problem when I use the native browser, Safari.

    Doc: I've had a similar experience, and here are the details, investigation, and a workaround. My printer is a Brother MFC-645CN, and I'm using Snow Leopard (10.6.8) on a 2010 iMac quad i5 connected to the printer over my ethernet LAN. Are you using a Brother printer?
    Firefox has shown this kind of nasty issue for the past six months or so. It seems to be related to the imaging algorithms in Preview when dealing with Firefox (now at v.12) and the Brother printer -- the screwy second page (and beyond) show up skewed and up-sized when doing a print preview also. No such problem seen in Safari or anything else. I am not currently using any other Mozilla apps on this Mac besides Firefox.
    A few months ago I tested printing from my administrator account and  a different user account. Firefox printing was completely normal and as expected. When I went back to my main user account, back came the funky second page.I went through extensive troubleshooting to try to chase it down, systematically removing and replacing apps and preferences and many other Library files related to printing, Brother drivers, Firefox, and Preview. Nothing helped. Solution was to migrate my user files to an account where the printing problem wasn't happening. I deleted the problem user account.
    Everything was fine for about three weeks, and then with no warning, printing was back to the bad second page, just as before. I am stumped, and I'll let smarter people try to figure it out. I use Firefox a lot, and it's possible that some add-on setting is interfering, or a web page I visited turned the printing funky again. I just don't know.
    Also checked on a Mac G4 running Leopard (10.5.8) and Firefox 3.6.28. No printing/preview problems there.
    Now, for the work-around I am currently using -- print each page separately, one at a time. Page 1, then page 2, etc. Preview and printing looks completely normal. Hope this works for you until the bug is located and squashed for good.
    Glenn

  • This noon I could print preview with no problems, now when I print preview, I get the menu bar but bleow that is black

    I always do a print preview to find out how many "real" pages there are so that I can determine what need to be printed 2-sided. Print preview worked fine between 11 AM and 1 PM. Later this afternoon I did a property search by neighborhood on the cook county (Illinois) assessor's website and tried to print the results. In print preview, I accessed the Setup and changed all margins to 0.5 and portrait orientation. The screen below the print preview menu went black. After a re-start of my XP laptop, starting FireFox and doing a print preview yields the same results. Clicking on "setup" gives me another black window that is wider than my laptop screen.
    What's going on and how do I fix this?

    Try to reset the related print prefs on the <b>about:config</b> page.

  • Why does Print Preview of a .eml file recursively open the same .eml file? I can't print it.

    Hello. I saved an email from my IMAP account locally to file as offlineemail.eml. When I try to open the .eml file later in Thunderbird, it opens up ok, no problem. When I do Print Preview just before sending it to my printer, two windows pop up. In the background is the first window, the Preview itself. However, it only shows "about:blank" in the Preview body. In the foreground, a window with Title: Opening offlineemail.eml. Body: You have chosen to open: offlineemail.eml which is: eml document (27.9 KB) from: /tmp. What should Thunderbird do with this file? [Radio button] Open with [dropdown] Thunderbird (default); [Radio button] Save file; [Checkbox unchecked] Do this automatically for files like this from now on. [Push buttons] Cancel Ok. The Ok button remains greyed out until I click one of the radio buttons. I click Open with Thunderbird, the Ok button is now active, and I click Ok. Here, the same email opens up just fine again in a separate Thunderbird window. I do a Print Preview, and this whole paragraph of steps is repeated. I never see the preview. Any ideas why this would be? My Thunderbird version: 31.3.0. My OS: linux openSUSE 13.1"Bottle". File manager: Thunar 1.6.3 for the XFCE desktop.

    Here's the Audit Space Usage for the original 5 MB file. It shows the images taking up the majority of the space, as expected:

  • Clicking on File and the Print Preview no longer gives a print preview.

    I used to be able to click on File and then Print Preview. Now all of a sudden it no longer works. There is no Print Preview.

    How did you get the '''HP Smart Web Printing4.51 true [email protected]''' extension enabled?
    AFAIK that extension hasn't worked in Firefox since Firefox version 3.5.
    Try disabling that extension and see if Print Preview works.

  • Illustrator CC 18.1.1 print preview is not displaying preview properly. Any work around?!

    I only started having this problem recently. It might be a Yosemite bug or graphics driver bug. When I go to print in the latest version of Illustrator CC 18.1.1 I get a shrunken window of what print preview should be (see below).
    Circumstances are that I have my MBP 15" Retina connected to a Apple Thunderbolt Display. When I'm working in Illustrator on the Thunderbolt display and have the laptop screen open beside it, print preview will not display correctly. If I drag the print dialog box over to the laptop screen, it then shows print preview correctly. Also, I found that if I close the laptop screen and just work off the Thunderbolt display print preview works correctly again. ITS DRIVING ME CRAZY! Please Help!
    I'm currently running:
    OS X 10.10.2
    MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Early 2013)
    2.8 GHz Intel Core i7
    Memory 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
    Graphics NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024 MB
    Screenshot from Thunderbolt Display. Print Preview is shrunk to upper-left hand corner:
    Screenshot from laptop screen when I brought the print dialog window over to it. The print preview corrected itself:

    Thanks pipinngpete.  You helped me understand what was going on.  Here is my post:
    Illustrator print preview is not displaying the preview properly. Any clue as to why?
