My firewall or the ISP's IP

So, I've got this situation.
One of my ISP's IP isn't working at all. It might the ISP's issue with the IP, but I'm not sure. I'll be rebooting the modem tomorrow to see if it is them or us.
My questions is..
Whats the easiest and simplest way to for me to verify whether that IP is working properly after rebooting the modem and its actually knocking on my firewall? I want to be able to configure my ASA to say I'm letting you in and waiting for you knock.

No.
What To Do If Your iDevice Is Lost Or Stolen
If you activated Find My Phone before it was lost or stolen, you can track it only if Wi-Fi is enabled on the device. What you cannot do is track your device using a serial number or other identifying number. You cannot expect Apple or anyone else to find your device for you. You cannot recover your loss unless you insure your device for such loss. It is not covered by your warranty.
If your iPhone, iPod, iPod Touch, or iPad is lost or stolen what do you do? There are things you should have done in advance - before you lost it or it was stolen - and some things to do after the fact. Here are some suggestions:

Replacing BM on NW with the ISP firewall and NAT
    Hi!
LAN is a tree with 3 servers:
    1. NW 6.5 sp8 + BorderManager 3.9 sp 2
    2. NOWS SBE 2.5 (Suse) - DNS\DHCP
    3. NOWS SBE 2.0 (Suse)
Since I'm connected to the internet through my ISP router (XBOX- Checkpoint), I am considering to remove the first server (firewall) and ask my ISP ro configure the router as a firewall and NAT too.
What are the steps needed to do it without any demages?

i need the IP values and Subnet Mask which is given by the ISP for my jetpack so i can configure my smart tv

Your public IP Address is provided by the ISP.  Your smart TV does not need to know this information unless you plan to host some kind of an application or service for folks on the internet through your TV.  It wouldn't work anyways since all Jetpacks sit behind a VZW NAT firewall and blocks hosting capabilities by default.
What you more than likely are referring to is the Default Gateway and Subnet mask of the Local Area Network being hosted by your Jetpack.  By default these values should be something like 192.168.1.1 and 255.255.255.0.  You can confirm the DG and SM by connecting a computer to the Jetpack.  Every computer has a way to look up the networking information.  On a Windows OS you would open up a CMD window and type in "IPCONFIG".
If you shoot us the model number of your Smart TV we may be able to look up a User Guide to confirm what kind of info is needed to connect to a wireless network.  Most of the time exchanging the IP information is done automatically during the connection process.  It would also be nice to know which Jetpack model you have so we can compare the User Guide for that device with your TV.

  • Configure SA520 firewall for 2 ISP (cable & ADSL)

    hi
Is it possible and howto configure Cisco SA520 firewall for 2 ISP (cable & ADSL) to get load balancing between these ISP?
    THX

    Hello,
Load-balancing is not suported as the ASA does not supports PBR. You can  try to do some work-arounds to send some traffic from one link but this is not cisco supported. I have seen scenarios about this working so if you really need it you can give it a try.

  • So I was trying to enhance my firewall to the point of inoperability and...

    Situation:
Like what all really cool people do on a Saturday night, I was perusing the bowels of my unix stuff on my Mac last night, and did a sudo ipfw list. I noticed that ports 67, 68, 69, 137, 138, and 139 were open from any to any. I know that 13x ports are used for Windoze sharing, and that /etc/services shows those ports are for something to do with netbios and tftp. Windows Sharing did not show up as being enabled in SysPrefs Sharing Services, and no other services using any of these six ports showed up as being enabled in SysPrefs Sharing Firewall.
I have no idea how or why those ports would be enabled. At work, I have Macs. My sons and daughter have Macs. Nobody would be connecting to my home network, either internally or from the internet at large and doing anything windoze-like. And I never recall having ever seen this ports opened before when doing a ipfw list.
So, I got scared. I figured that I would do a sudo ipfw flush, which I did, and then just use SysPrefs Sharing Firewall to click checkboxes to reenable the services that I want. Well, that was the start of my enhancing my firewall to the point of inoperability. When I go into the SysPrefs Sharing Firewall panel, I get a splash screen that says something to the tune of "another firewall is active on this computer, so if you want to do anything here on this Firewall panel, turn off the other firewall software."
Fortunately, I had done a sudo ipfw list > portList.txt so I could at least manually sudo ipfw add back the ports that I thought I wanted (and the ports I thought I wanted denied). So that's where I'm at now. But now it's a real annoyance that I don't have "checkbox control" of services and ports through the SysPrefs Sharing Firewall panel anymore, and instead have to do the "sudo ipfw add/subtract/multiply/divide {rule#} {whatever}" thing now. I don't know how to regain control of my Apple firewall and the SysPrefs Sharing Firewall panel.
Of course this doesn't address the issue of what opened those ports, and if it happens again, an "archive and reinstall" of the OS, along with an install of fink/macports tripwire, may be in order. But that's an inconvenience to have to do, and hopefully I can avoid having to do that. In the meantime, regaining control of my Apple firewall and the SysPrefs Sharing Firewall panel, would realy be nice, and that is my question. What do I do, and how do I do it?
    Thanks in advance.

    First, take a deep breath...
For one, the System Preferences knows nothing about the command line ipfw changes that you made. It expects to be the interface for setting and changing firewall rules, so when you've changed them manually (ipfw flush) it sees that the current rules doesn't match what it expects and hence the error message.
Secondly, the presence, or otherwise, of those ports does not mean they are active. Just that ipfw isn't blocking them. There still has to be some process on the machine listing to the port in order for anything to actually happen. It's akin to leaving a door open - it's fine when all that's behind that door is a brick wall.
A better test is to see what's actually being used on your machine, and ipfw cannot tell you that (at least, not easily). Better tools include netstat and lsof.
netstat -a will give you a list of every network connection in use. Just don't be shocked if there are more there that you expect - the OS uses a lot of them internally. What you're most interested in is the ports in LISTEN state (piping the output through 'grep LISTEN' is a simple solution).
Now you can focus on which ports your machine will actually respond to (assuming the firewall also allows traffic through).
If you have a port number that you don't recognize then you can invoke lsof which has the ability to list all open files, network ports, etc. To track a port number, use the form:
    <pre class=command>sudo lsof -i :port</pre>
This will tell you any process that is using the specified port number. From there you should be able to determine whether or not there's an issue.

  • HT3728 my broadband speed has all of a sudden been reduced dramatically over the weekend. the isp asked me to eliminate my apple airport express base station to make sure that my 20mb band is being delivered which i did and confirmed so.

MY BROADBAND HAS BEEN REDUCED DRAMATICALLY IN MY HOME NETWORK USING MY AIRPORT EXTREME BASE STATION.
THIS HAPPENED  SO UNEXPECTEDLY OVER THE WEEKEND. I CALL MY ISP AND THEY SIMPLY TOLD ME TO ELIMINATE THE AIRPORT
EXTREME BASE  STATION  TO CONFIRM THAT  WHAT I  HAVE PURCHASED  IS BEING DELIVERED WHICH I  DID AND CONFIRMED.
MEANWHILE USING MY  NETWORK UNTIL LAST  FRIDAY EVERYTHING LOOKED  JUST  GREAT.
I  WONDER WHETHER  I WOULD HAVE TO   RESET MY  AIRPORT EXTREME TO FACTORY  SETTINGS TO RECONFIGURE  IT.

Hmm. Your ISP is incorrect in telling you that removing any of your routers on the local area network will have anything to do with the bandwidth performance that they provide you at the Internet modem. On the other hand, changing/removing networking equipment on your local network DOES affect bandwidth performance on that local network.
Most likely what the ISP is asking you to do is verify that you are getting their promised download/upload bandwidth at the modem. It appears that you did that and verified that you are getting the stated bandwidth.
So, we should take a look at why, when adding the AirPort Extreme, you are getting less.
First off, which AirPort Extreme model do you have? What is the make & model of the broadband modem that your ISP is providing you?
It is always a good idea to perform a complete power recycle of your networking equipment when introducing new hardware. Please check out the following AirPort User Tip for details.
(p.s. Please don't use all capital letters when you post. It appears to readers that you are shouting. Thx!)

  • How do I set up my email account on my iMac OS Yosemite 10.10.2 so that the emails are downloaded to my computer and removed from the ISP server?

how do I set up my email account on my iMac OS Yosemite 10.10.2 so that the emails are downloaded to my computer and removed from the ISP server?

When setting up the email using Apple 'Mail' (version 8.2 (2070.6)) I do not get an option to set up my email as using POP.  I can go to Outlook from Microsoft and I get a chance to set my mail up using POP, however I would prefer to use the Apple supplied 'Mail' email programme as I'm using Office 365 and may not want to continue the subscription sometime in the future.
Any advice on setting Mail to POP would be appreciated.  A not so Happy Wombat.

  • What is the firewall in the macbook pro OS X and which anti-virus does it have?

    Mory89 wrote:

The System Preferences >Security >Firewall is a incoming one and very user simple.
There is the full outgoing and incoming firewall via the Terminal
NoobProof and WaterRoof that can manage it with a GUI.
Mac's have a System Preferences > Security > General > Safe Downloads list which basically checks your downloads to make sure it's not a trojan.
That's about it for the malware checks built in, most all malware is for Windows and doesn't affect OS X, but if your passing or using Windows files, you may want to use the free ClamXav to scan them.
ClamXav is non-intrusive, other anti-malware for Mac's can be harmful as they run as root level and Apple changes things which breaks the anti-malware software and really causes more hassle than the 0 viruses Mac's get.
So most Mac users don't need to mess with the Firewall or anti-malware, best for them to leave it alone.
Though if one installs software from pirate or questionable sources then all bets are off.

  • Can't make outgoing calls but receives fine (I believe it's the ISP)

Hi.A small company were maintaining that uses a uc500 on a dedicated voip line suddenly can't make outgoing calls. This has occured on another two occasions when they were using a different ISP and It was due to them not paying their bill on time. This time we've called the ISP and they Insist everything Is fine on their end and that the company hasn't been disconnected.I can't find anything wrong with the UC.I can ping the ISP gateway.I can ping their SIP server and everything looks fine.I've added two debug files and would appreciate any assistance as my debugging knowledge Is not that great !

Turns out the ISP was receiving calls In G729 and they use G711 Alaw.We didn't change any configuration on our side so I'm not sure what happened.I've set the sip trunk to use g711 alaw via CCA but calls are still going through as g729.I'm not sure what to configure via the cli.I assume It has something to do with transcoding but my telephony cli knowledge Is limited.
Should I change the configuration for Individual dial-peers or Is there some global config. I can enter ?
I added g711alaw to a dial peer and now I can't make any inbound calls either.I removed the g711alaw from the dial peer but It hasn't changed anything.
Running debug ccsip message I receive "error 304 media type(s) unavailable. q.850 cause=65"
I didn't expect such a small change to cause so much havoc.

  • How do you install a firewall on the Galaxy S3?

The phone will connect to the Internet via WiFi in open environments (Starbucks, Panera's, nearly every store). This requires a firewall for security.
How do you install a firewall within the constraints of the warranty?

        Hi there DavidNJ!
Security is absolutely important and I'm happy you're thinking about it! Your phone is setup to only connect to Wi-Fi hotspots you've connected to in the past while Wi-Fi is turned on.
You can disable the "Auto connect" if you would like by following these steps.
    Settings > Wi-Fi > Advanced > Uncheck Auto Connect
Keep in mind, these are hotspots that you've connected to before. If you don't want them on your list any longer you can long press "press & hold" on any Wi-Fi listed on your phone and delete the connection from your saved history!
    Safe & secure!

  • How to unblock UDP ports from the firewall of the Time Capsule

Hello i just bought a time capsule and i am trying am using it as a router. I am trying to use Shakespeer
that is like a server where you share files within the University,it runs with Dtella. However, when y try to get online a message tells me that the firewall of the router is blocking the UDP ports needed....how do i unblock those UDP ports so i can get online?
    Here is the message:
In order for Dtella to communicate properly, it needs to receive UDP traffic
[19:14] <*Dtella> from the Internet. Dtella is currently listening on UDP port 4000, but the
[19:14] <*Dtella> packets appear to be getting blocked, most likely by a firewall or a router. If
[19:14] <*Dtella> this is the case, then you will have to configure your firewall or router to
[19:14] <*Dtella> allow UDP traffic through on this port. You may tell Dtella to use a different
[19:14] <*Dtella> port from now on by typing !UDP followed by a number.

Hello albertoPeralta. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
To open ports on the Time Capsule, you would use the AirPort Utility to configure Port Mapping.
    AEBSn - Port Mapping Setup
To setup port mapping on an 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn), either connect to the AEBSn's wireless network or temporarily connect directly, using an Ethernet cable, to one of the LAN port of the AEBSn, and then use the AirPort Utility, in Manual Setup, to make these settings:
    1. Reserve a DHCP-provided IP address for the Shakespeer host device.
    Internet > DHCP tab
o On the DHCP tab, click the "+" (Add) button to enter DHCP Reservations.
o Description: <enter the desired description of the host device>
o Reserve address by: MAC Address
    o Click Continue.
o MAC Address: <enter the MAC (what Apple calls Ethernet ID if you are using wired or AirPort ID if wireless) hardware address of the host computer>
    o IPv4 Address: <enter the desired IP address>
    o Click Done.
    2. Setup Port Mapping on the AEBSn.
    Advanced > Port Mapping tab
o Click the "+" (Add) button
    o Public UDP Port(s): 4000
o Private IP Address: <enter the IP address of the host server>
    o Private UDP Port(s): 4000
    o Click "Continue"
