My first Apple Product

This is my first ever apple product, I have ignored apple products due to the fact i HATE ITunes, I finally got an Ipod Classic as i need the space, every time i connect my ipod to my laptop it crash's my laptop and the ipod then i have to restart the laptop and now it has no songs, no photos & no movies but it only has 800mb left, what is going on and how can i fit...all i can say is if this is how apple products work, i'll never be getting another again.
any help is more than appreciated, thank you.

You could keep trying to get this devise to work but I would just take it back to the Apple store. Besides simply replacing the iPod, they can reset it back to the factory conditions. You could reset it yourself via iTunes, assuming that your PC is not gonna crash in the process.
One of the biggest benefits of Apple is its solid customer support. Don't be shy to use it. Just go and get a new device.

  • Can't decide between the iphone or ipad as my first apple product. Is there a difference other than phone and size?

Can't decide between the iphone or ipad as my first apple product. Is there a difference other than phone and size?

    A couple of differences:
    iPad native apps
Interactive e-books with multi-touch and 3D support (in iBooks 2)
Layouts (kind of merges with iPad apps, Music/Settings, etc. all look different)
    Wi-Fi only models, no contracts
iPads are unlocked by default (3G models)
As paul said, I would really wait for the next iteration of iPad. That's what I'm doing

  • Help, my first Apple product.  Is this normal or did I make a mistake?

Hi I just bought my first ever Apple product ever.  New to me is an old 17 inch iMac (late 2006 build) that according to the serial number was actually assembled in May 2007.  Anyways I hear how Macs never crash....  I bought this on EBAY with only a guarantee not to be dead on arrival.  Appearance wise this thing looks new.  It came with 10.7.0 installed.  I ran this for a few hours no problem.  It asked me to update so I did.  During the update to 10.7.5 the process was going slow so I walked away.  When I came back the screen was dark and the light on the front was on solid.  The system would not respond to the mouse or any keys.  I held the power button and it shut off eventually.  I started it back up again with no problems and spent a few more hours on it.  Then I decided to look at the serial number to find out what I actually got.  I had it turned on when I gently laid it back to see the number on the stand.  When I tilted it forward back onto the stand the screen was frozen.  It is possible my big belly hit some keys when I did this.  The brightness logo was on the screen along with the web page I had up.  However the mouse or keyboard did not do anything.  I see these had a high rate of logic board failures and I am worried about that.  I repowered again with no issues yet. (about two more hours)
So what I want to know is if this is normal or not.  A windows machine freezing during an update I would not think twice about it.  I also have no idea if it has a safety that would be triggered by laying it back?  Would the system ignore the mouse or keyboard if my big belly rested on it thinking it had stuck keys or something?  Your ideas and thoughts please.  I only need this computer for in the kitchen use and also to retrieve old videos from a even older camcorder.  However I do not want to waste money on something that is broke.    Thank You.

Thanks everybody.  It looks to me that the seller gets these in bulk from either schools, libraries that are updating equipment or something.  That would explain the no discs.  He sells a lot of them.  It is very clean, taking the access cover off no dust or anything.  Appearance wise not a mark on it except for some residue from tape that I was able to clean off.  It looks showroom condition, not faded or anything.   I paid only $130.00 for it.  For another $47 I can get a two year warranty for it.  I guess that is what I will do since they are dumb enough to offer such a warranty on a old computer.
I will take the advice and buy retail of Snow Leopard.  I was thinking it may be a better choice for me anyways for what I want it to do.  Look up and store recipes, play music over bluetooth, perhaps watch a video.  I also bought it for the old firewire port that I need for my 15 year old camcorder before that stops working or the tapes go bad.  I see the new ones have Thunderbolt ports that I would need to adapt to Firewire 800 then to 400 and again down to the small 4 pin port for the cam.... and hope it works on an old cam.
Anyways curiosity got the best of me so that is why I dipped my foot into an Apple.  I did not want to blow a grand to find out if I like it or not.  With some other upgrades, larger hard drive, one more GB of memory, wireless mouse, keyboard, Snow Leopard, and the extended warranty I will have about $250 invested in it total.  I would be happy if that gets me through two years of mundane use.  Perhaps I will be hooked along the way....

  • My First Apple Product Ever.

I'm not new to forums, so i'll try to make this as brief as possible. Tomorrow (July 4th) I will be picking up my new iPhone 3GS. My question is to you fellow Apple Product users: What was the first thing you did when you got your mitts on your first iPhone or iPod Touch? I'm really excited becuase i've seen so many posts about how people are really enjoying the use out of their iPhone. I've also heard alot about hardware defects (yellow tinted screen, white screen of death, hissing sound when trying to place a phone call, app issues) but I have full confidence in Apple and thier products. I have lots of friends and family who swear by their iPods/iPhones. I'm sure this may have been asked before but i'd appreciate any input on the subject.

With my first generation iPhone, with activation with AT&T done with iTunes on my Mac at home after the purchase, after my iPhone was activated I made my sync preferences with iTunes and selected sync. Done.
When I purchased my 3G, which was activated at the store when the iPhone was purchased, when I returned home and connected the 3G to my Mac the first time, I was prompted to transfer the backup for my first generation iPhone followed by a sync. Done.
Be sure you have downloaded and installed the current iTunes version if you haven't already done so.

  • HT2534 I've just downloaded free apps after purchasing my first apple product (ipod touch). But none of the apps will open

I've just downloaded 13 free apps to my ipod touch.  (I'm new to apple products, and never done this before).  When I tap on the app icon, nothing happens - none of them open.  Can anyone help me to figure this out?  I must have done something wrong when setting the device up?

  • HT4060 My ipad mini wont charge I bought a new charger since the old one didn't charge my ipad and the same problem is happening i charged it over night and when I woke up it said 50% soo can someone help me this is my first apple product a

Well my ipad mini isn't charging.. I with the original charger it didn't show the charging sign when plugged in.. And I bought a new one a 12:00 one from bath bed and beyond. Now it ain't charging again even thought it did a few days ago.. Now I don't know what to do.. I don't wanna keep buying chargers..

Could be the charger, cable or iPad. Plug the USB cable into your computer. It may say "Not Charging", however, it is charging slowly and will verify that the cable is good.
Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.htmlhttp://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • This is my first Apple product and probably the last - IOS 8.0.2 issues

I got a very bad taste of poor Apple software releases (IOS 8.0.2) in my Ipad, I expected the release to make things better but looks like I am in living **** with this update. Here is a short list of litany of issues
    1) Safari crashes "a problem occurred with the webpage so it was reloaded" and crashes. I tried Google Chrome, it just crashes as well. Tried restart, clearing cache etc without any success
    2) Multitasking gestures doesn't work, pinch to home screen works sporadically (very unreliable, I need to turn off and turn on this feature to make it work again)
I found so many issues in few minutes of use that I almost want to throw the ipad to the thrash. I didn't expect such a poor quality product and service from Apple.

If you use the Mail App and configure a Yahoo account you can then select up to 5 pictures from the Photo App and mail them as a single e-mail.

  • How do you attach multiple pictures to an email? I use yahoo, presently I copy and paste each pic separately , having to go back and forth from my pics and email. I know there's an easier way. I currently use an iPad 2 and this is my first apple product.

I currently use an iPad 2,how does one go about attaching multiple pictures to a yahoo email? Presently I am having to copy then paste each picture
Separately , going back and forth from my picture roll to my email. I tried to copy and paste multiple pictures but it would only paste the last picture
I copied. I am new to apple, so any help would be appreciated .

  • HT201272 Cannot download previously deleted app iphoto. Other deleted apps re install exactly as manual says. Also, how can I delete unwanted photos from "photos" app, which were brought in via Dropbox? Ipad Air wi fi running ios 7 (my first apple product

New to Apple, having fun with ipad Air, but geting frustrated with its weird ways.
Deleted the iphoto app to clear out photos (yes, really). Now cannot download it again. Other deleted apps download exactly as the manual says but not iphoto. Can anyone suggest how to fix please? Also, cannot delete test photos from"photos" app, brought in from Dropbox. Can anyone tell me how to do this please?
    All help gratefully received.

You should be able to redownload it via the Purchased tab in the App Store app on your iPad - if it's not showing there (you haven't changed countries since buying the app ?) then check to see if it's hidden : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4919
For the photos, if they are in the Camera Roll album in the Photos app then you can either delete them via the trashcan icon in the bottom right corner if viewing the photo in full screen, or via the Select button top right in thumbnail view.

  • I have a question, I've always used my moms old email for my Apple ID because I got my first apple product when I was a little kid and I didn't have an email so if I change it will people have to make new contacts of me on their devices?

I have a question I've always used my moms old email for my Apple ID but when I text on iMessage it says my moms email is the one who sent the message and it's embarrassing so if I change my Apple ID email will my friends have to make new contacts of me on their devices? please answer this as soon as possible I beg you.

If you get your own Apple ID, then you will need a new email address unless you have an email address that is different from your mom's. In that case you use your own email address as your Apple ID.
You will have to reconfigure everything to associate them with your new Apple ID. This also means any apps or music you  purchased using your mom's Apple ID will have to be repurchased using your Apple ID.

  • I just bought my first and only apple product yesterday, an iPad mini with retina. How can I print to a non AirPrint enabled printer?

I have heard that unless I have a Mac or newer AirPrint printer, I will not be able to print from my iPad.  This is my first apple product, so I really hope that is not the case, or it may have to go back. I do not want to have to go out and buy a new printer when mine works fine and is only a couple of years old. Please let me know if there is a solution to my problem.

Check the app store for a third party printer application.  Depending on who made your printer, the manufacturer may have an app.  Otherwise, look for a third party app.
Whatever you find won't have the flexibility you would obtain if you had an AirPrint printer.  For example, Epson has an app, but it cannot print from all functions (e.g., mail).
