My first podcast episode disappeared

Here is my podcast feed:
http://jeffreybuettner.com/feed/podcast/
I published my second episode today and the first episode is now missing.
For some reason, the feed looks fine: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/running-with-real-estate/id805017790?mt=2
Any suggestions?

Everything seems normal - there are two episodes in the feed, January 21 and today, February 6, and both show in the web page for the Store, the Store page in iTunes, and when subscribing. Note however that when you subscribe for the first time or afresh iTunes shows ony the most recent episode. In 'My Podcasts' view click the 'Old episodes' button, in 'List' view control- or right-click the podcast name and choose 'Show old episodes.

  • When i try to submit my first podcast episode, i get an error message "we had difficulty downloading episodes from your feed

Hello! i am trying to submit my podcast feed into itunes but get "we had difficulty downloading episodes from your feed". I'm using the soundcloud podcasting beta, and i've tried almost every thing. Also when i try to test my feed by subscribing to it first, everything works except the episode wont play. any help?
    RSS Feed:http://feeds.soundcloud.com/users/soundcloud:users:141115987/sounds.rss

This is because you have the URL for the media files incorrect. The top episode's file is given as
    http://feeds.soundcloud.com/users/soundcloud:users:141115987/sounds.rss/http://f eeds.soundcloud.com/stream/196914893-behindthereels-ep2-everything-bethesdawav.m p3
If you look at it you will see that it is plainly wrong - you have http in twice. The correct URL is
    http://feeds.soundcloud.com/stream/196914893-behindthereels-ep2-everything-bethe sdawav.mp3
and the same process applies with the other episode.

  • First podcast episode missing from search

    Newbie here...
iTunes is missing my first episode 'Beginning'.  When I first submitted the show it showed up fine.  If you subscribe to the show you get the first episode but if you just search for the show (The QuoteSpoke Podcast) it is missing the first episode.  Any advice is appreciated.  My show and RSS info is available below.

Under neath the list of episodes, the Store says '4 items'. I'm afraid you've fallen over a long-standing intermittent bug in the Store which does this sort of thing. It's not a problem with your feed, and there isn't anything you can do about it. It will probably sort itself out in a few days.

  • Itunes only showing my first Podcast episode

I added my podcast feed and after approval only one episode showed up. I have now done two more episodes over the last two weeks and they don't appear in Itunes. Anyone know why?
    Thanks in advance!

As you upload new episodes, you have to make sure that the XML file for your RSS feed is being updated (you have to do this manually unless you have software that automates it.) and add a new '<item>' section for each new episode. Episodes are listed in date order (based on your pubDate tags).
ALSO... iTunes only scans your URL once per day. Your new episodes may not appear in the iTunes store page for as much as a day -- although I think they'll show up for users who have subscribed to your podcast almost immediately (because once someone subscribes they don't actually need the iTunes store anymore to find your podcast or new episodes.)
In the tech help for podcasters, Apple does describe how to craft a 'PING' URL which you can use to force iTunes to attempt to see if your feed has updated (without waiting for the daily update that they normally do).

  • Problem with first Podcast Episode (pulling in streaming info) powerpress.

    Hi All,
I am new here, sorry for the dumb question. I am using wordpress and a plugin called Powerpress. This has generated a feed for my podcast. I have a video player on the page see: http://www.internetbusinessgeneration.com/tools-and-resources/podcast/ibg-podcas t-001-mad-introduction-and-mindmeister-tutorial/
The problem is that it's picking up the flash as the actual podcast file, take a look here:
    http://itunes.apple.com/podcast/ibg-podcast/id389341230
In the description, you see the confusion.
*My question is this. Am I going to have to:*
    1. Do nothing as once the feed is corrected, the file will update.
    2. Ask iTunes to take the feed down.
    3. Re-submit the feed to iTunes.
    I am a little slow, I know!

Both episodes are there and the podcast can be subscribed to: everything is working correctly.

  • My first podcast has disappeared.

...leaving only my second one. I have done nothing different, nor messed with feedburner. Any idea why this is happening?
    Thank you!

    This is your feed:
    http://feeds.feedburner.com/typepad/kKxS
It has twelve entries dating back to 8 July, but only one - that of 12 July - has playable media. iTunes does not display entries which do not have playable media.
It's possible that you had an earlier entry with playable media. Many podcast creation programs/services limit the number of episodes which appear in the feed, after which as new episodes are added earlier ones are removed and archived. As you have eleven non-playable episodes this is why a playable episode may have been removed after apparently only one new one.
Usually there is a setting somewhere where you can increase this limit. Mixing up a blog and a podcast in this way is likely to cause problems: really it's better to have a podcast feed which is all playable episodes.

    Greetings Heather,
After reading your post, it sounds like you are experiencing an error with the Podcasts app. You may want to consider restarting the device first, and then resetting if that does not work. This article provides detailed instructions for Restarting, and Reseting:
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset
    How to restart
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button on the top of your device until the red slider appears. Then drag the slider to turn your device completely off.
After the device turns off, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button again until you see the Apple logo.
    How to reset
You should reset your device as a last resort and only if you can't restart it.
To reset, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.
Thank you for contributing to Apple Support Communities,

  • All podcast episodes have disappeared and I'm no longer ranking

I've successfully uploaded 6 podcast episodes over the past couple of weeks and had been ranking pretty well as of last night. Today I check and my podcast has disappeared from the ranks. When I search on my podcast, it is listed with artwork and description and ratings, but the episodes are all gone. I appreciate any suggestions or ideas on what happened and what I can do about it. Here is my link: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/win-the-weight-game/id677470205

I would highly highly recommend if you are hosting with libsyn - use the libsyn feed - and not the one via powerpress.  Publish the episodes to your libsyn account - and then connect your libsyn account to your wordpress site via the libsyn Wordpress feature.
    http://support.libsyn.com/faqs/onpublish-wordpress/
There are so many tickets on here about issues with wordpress.
If you want your show to be in iTunes and be solid in iTunes - stick with the feed from libsyn and not from your wordpress / powerpress configuration.  In the long run you will have much much fewer issues - and libsyn support is there to help you for any issues you might have.
Email me if you want to know how to switch to the libsyn feed.
    rob (at) libsyn dot com
One of the best features of Libsyn  - is offering you a feed that works all the time with iTunes.

  • Disappearing podcast episode

    Hi,
I've created a podcast ( http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/cynthia-clawson/id384356180 ) and the first 2 episodes were picked up without any problem. Two days ago I posted a third episode. While that episode can be played when I subscribe to my podcast, only the first two episodes show up in the iTunes store.
Any assistance would be much appreciated!
    Thanks!
    Robert

All three episodes now appear in the Store. It usually takes 1-2 days for a new episode to appear in the Store (though they appear immediately when subscribing because your iTunes application reads the feed directly, whereas the Store caches the feed and checks it periodically). Sometimes it can take a bit longer.

  • HT1819 My first Podcast that I submitted has disappeared from iTunes.  Where did it go?

My first Podcast that I submitted has disappeared from iTunes.  It is still in my RSS feed.  How can I get it back?  I would like them all availbale for download.
    Thanks,
    Dan Z

Downloaded films (and those synced from your computer) should be in the Videos app (iTunes on the iPad is just the iTunes store) :

  • Why do my podcasts keep disappearing after I download them to my computer.

Since updating iTunes to the newest version, I have been having problems with my podcasts.  Specifically, my episodes keep disappearing.  The first time I figured it was a fluke, but it happened again and again.  Every time I close iTunes and open it again, the podcasts have disappeared even though I have all my podcasts set up to keep all episodes.  The episodes are all still listed, but there is a little cloud with an arrow inside pointing down next to each one.  There are a handful of random episodes that are still there (without the cloud and arrow icon).  I searched for the files in my computer's music folder and even the files are suddenly missing and I know they used to be there.  I don't know why this keeps happening.  Is anyone else having this problem and how can I stop it from happening?

Same problem. I am a daily Podcasts listener, and podcasts that worked the day before will literally not work the next day.  All the podcasts on my iphone will suddenly be broken. This keeps happening to me, and it's most glaring when I try to resume listening to an episode I listened to half of on the previous day. I suddenly get the error message:
Episode Unavailable: "This episode is temporarily unavailable from [Podcast name]
This started when I got the new Iphone 5s (iOS7) and was forced to switch to using the Podcasts app outside of the Music app.  And now it's happening constantly to my regular podcasts. The listened to status is also sometimes wrong. Podcasts I've already listened to, and in some cases deleted, will show up again as fresh downloads.
I have to remove the corrupted podcasts one by one and download them again manually.
RIDICULOUS and UNUSABLE. This Podcasts app does not work.

  • How do you re-download a podcast episode that you previously deleted?

In the Podcasts app for a particular podcast, it will list episodes with newest first, indicate whether they have been played or not, and give you the option to download any episode that is not already on your iPhone.  I have one podcast that I listen to regularly, and it's set to only keep the last 3 episodes.  Usually it works fine.  When I download the latest, the oldest one then gets removed from my phone, leaving always 3 episodes on the phone.  That last episode that was removed will then show up again with the arrow button to let me download if it I wish.
But what about episodes that I delete manually by swiping left?  If I want to delete an episode manually, I swipe left and the Delete button appears, but then that episode disappears completely from the episode listing.  What do I do if later on I want to download it again?  I don't see how to access it at all.  Anyone know?

If you didn't move the app to the Trash, you may have "hid" the purchase.
Click Account right side of the App Store window under Quick Links and login.
In the Account Information window click View Hidden Purchases
    Then click Unhide > Done
Now click Purchases at the top of the App Store window, select the app in the list then Option + Click where you see Installed then click Install.
You must use the same Apple ID you used to originally purchase the app.

  • Front Row still displays deleted old podcast episode

I have subscribes to ScreenCastsOnline podcast, and one of the episodes was an audio update. It is only since I checked in iTunes today that I have found I don't actually have that episode in iTunes anymore, and it is definately not in the Podcasts folder within the iTunes folder. Yet Front Row is saying I still have it, and it has a blue ball next to it to say it hasn't been played. If I try to play it, Front Row tells me it can't be played (obviously because the file is no longer there).
I have tried unsubscribing to ScreenCastsOnline and making sure there is no trace of it in the iTunes folder, and yet the one episode is STILL listed on Front Row!!
    How can I remove it?

    Update:
Firstly, there are actually TWO old podcast episodes total that are not on my Mac anymore but are listed on Front Row. I removed any trace of all Podcasts in iTunes and the podcast folder disappeared in the iTunes Music library folder, yet two podcasts remained in FR.
Secondly, I opened the iTunes Music Library.xml file with Text Edit, and found entries for both of these podcasts within using a search. I have removed the keys associated with both and did a search again to confirm they had been removed. I rebooted and tried FR again, and the podcasts are STILL there!!! What else can I do, PLEASE????

  • Podcast episodes not updating correctly in iTunes

    Hello,
I am having a problem with my podcast episodes not updating correctly in iTunes.  The last 5 episodes I published appeared in iTunes at the bottom of the episode list, as if they were old episodes--i.e., they appear as if they were the first 5 episodes published.  They also do not have a date assigned to them as the rest of the episodes do.  They were not distributed to podcast subscribers, possibly because iTunes is not recognizing them as new episodes.
Here is my podcast feed: http://ic.instantcustomer.com/instantcasts/feed/podcast/5047174b90f14efe542431c2 674b1bd9
And here is the link to my podcast in iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/small-business-marketing-minute/id896451432
The problem began with last Wednesday's episode, which was Episode 30, and has continued ever since.  I did not do anything differently when I published that episode than I did when I published the previous 29 episodes, and those updated just fine, or at least seemed to as far as I could tell (i.e., they appeared correctly on iTunes, and appeared as a new episode for me as a podcast subscriber).  Also, after examining the rss feed, I could not see any difference between episodes 1-29 and episodes 30--34, at least as far as the way the feed was formatted.  So, I have no idea what triggered the problem, and no idea how to fix it.  If I can't resolve the issue then I think I'll have to abandon the podcast, since there's no point in publishing a podcast that doesn't distribute new episodes to subscribers.
If anyone can shed light on this problem for me, it would be most appreciated.     Thanks!
    -Kevin

As you say, in the Store the latest episodes don't show a publishing date. When subscribing in iTunes, none of the episodes show a publishing date, and they are listed in the order they appear in the feed.
In the feed, none of your episodes has a 'pubDate' tag, which is where iTunes gets the date from. Since most of the episodes in the Store have a date, it looks as if originally your episodes had this tag, but that five episodes back you did something in whatever method you are using to create your feed which removed these tags: the Store is presumably getting the dates from its cache since the episodes haven't changed, but obviously doesn't have the dates for the last 5 episodes.

  • New Podcast Episode Not Updating in iTunes

    Hello Apple Community,
My name is Sara Simms, I have recently started a new DJ podcast series called Flight. My new episode has not updated yet in the iTunes store (its been over three days since I uploaded it)
My podcast episodes are hosted here:
    http://sarasimms.blogspot.ca
    My Feedburner URL is:
    feed://feeds.feedburner.com/sarasimmsflightofficialpodcast
I also uploaded new artwork via Feedburner, in the 'Podcast' section of iTunes I see the artwork has updated.
However, in the iTunes store itself, the new artwork is not displayed. Here is the link to my iTunes podcast:
    http://bit.ly/VM8tcF
I just pinged Feedburner, hopefully this helps to update everything.
Could anyone else please let me know if there's anything else I should check/change to make sure my podcast episodes are updating?
    Thank you in advance!
    Best wishes,
    Sara Simms

Your second episode has a media file referenced at http://sarasimms.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/flight_episode_two
This works when the URL is entered in a browser, but at the URL has no extension (.mp3) iTunes does not see it as being a media file and thus does not display the episode. You need to give a full URL including the extension, as you have done for your first episode.
You are mixing episodes with and without media files - there are a lot of earlier episodes which don't have media files - these won't show in iTunes. If blogger limits the number of episodes shown in the feed, these will count towards that limit which could result in episodes not showing in iTunes once you have added enough episodes to trigger the limit.
