.avi animations made with Flash won't work on my mac laptop (version 10.6.8) but they used to. What is the problem?

let me be more specific, the .avi animations will not play in Quicktime on this laptop, but they used to. When I import them into final cut express they won't show up there either. What should I do to fix this?

I just loaded Yosemite on my Mac and now adobe flash won't work in Safari 8.0.4 . Does anyone have a solution ?

If you can't install or update Flash, follow these instructions.
If you have installed the latest version of Flash, please take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. After each step, relaunch Safari and test.
For a "blocked plug-in" error, see Step 4.
For a "missing plug-in" error, start with Step 8.
Back up all data before making any changes.
    Step 1
You might have to log out or restart the computer before a Flash update takes effect.
    Step 2
From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data...
and confirm. Close the window. Then select
               ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced ▹ Delete All...
In the sheet that opens, check the box marked
Delete All Site Data and Settings
then click Delete Data. Close the preference pane.
    Step 3
If you're only having trouble with YouTube videos, log in to YouTube and load this page. You may see a link with the text "Leave the HTML5 Trial." If so, click that link.
    Step 4
    a. If you get a warning of a "blocked" or "outdated" plug-in, then select the Security tab in the Safari preferences window. In the list of plugins on the left, there should be one—and only one—entry for "Adobe Flash Player," showing the same version number that you installed. Select that entry. On the right there will be a list of websites for which you have specifically allowed Flash, if any. It's normal for the list to be empty. Below that is a menu labeled
              When visiting other websites
From that menu, select either Allow or Ask.
    b. If you still get the alerts, then go back to the Flash Player preference pane and select the Advanced tab. Click Check Now. Quit and relaunch the browser.
    c. If the alerts still persist, triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /System/Library/CoreServices/CoreTypes.bundle/Contents/Resources
Right-click or control-click the highlighted text and select
              Services ▹ Open
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open. Inside it, there should be a file named "XProtect.meta.plist". If that file is missing and you know why it's missing, restore it from a backup or copy it from another Mac running the same version of OS X. Otherwise, reinstall OS X.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
    Step 5
In the Safari preferences window, select the Advanced tab and uncheck the box marked
              Stop plug-ins to save power
    Step 6
Open this folder as in Step 4:
    /Library/Internet Plug-Ins
Delete the following item, or anything with a similar name, if present:
              Flash Player (failing).plugin
You may be prompted for your login password.
    Step 7
Re-download and reinstall Flash. Download it from the domain "get.adobe.com". Don't click a link from any other website, including this one, because you can't trust links. They may be an attempt to trick you into installing malware masquerading as Flash. Type the address into the browser window. Never download a Flash update from anywhere else.
    Step 8
If you get a "missing plug-in" error, select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
from the Safari menu bar and check the box marked
              Allow (or Enable) plug-ins
    Then click the button marked
              Manage Website Settings...
if present and make sure that the website is not blocked for Flash.
    Step 9
    Select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
from the Safari menu bar. If any extensions are installed, disable them.

  • Macromedia Flash won't work

Hello, Folks, I am having problems with any webpage that uses
"flash" animation. (Please be kind- I know mechanics and hands-on
things, but have a hard time with computers!) I have read some of
the threads here that deal with a similar topic, but don't
understand a lot of what I read. You guys are WAY above my head.
I am running Windows XP and IE 6. I recently ran the
Microsoft Windows updates (on April 02, I think, so I don't know if
it included the troublesome Active-X change or not). Now it seems
that some of the video/ picture features just aren't working right.
If I hold the cursor arrow over the place where the animation
should be, I get a message that says "click to activate or use this
control", but clicking does nothing. Right-clicking, then selecting
"settings" brings up a control panel for Macromedia Flash Player 8.
I selected "Allow" and "remember", but no change. I tried updating
the Macromedia, but it didn't help; completely wiping out the
program and reinstalling, as suggested by Macromedia, didn't work
    either.
I have turned off pop-up blockers, emptied temporary and
cookie files, etc. to no avail. The animated pages WORK when logged
in under my wife's name. (!?) The Macromedia page works and runs
under her name, and shows that the program is installed, which it
will not do under my user name. I have disabled the Microsoft IE
pop-up blocker, and a "Popup Manager" program on my username, and
it still won't work. All of these are running on hers, too (and are
not disabled). Any ideas where to start? What would be different
from one username to another that would cause this?
Okay, some more information. The yellow pop-up bar ("Pop-up
blocked") under the toolbar never appears, so I never have a chance
to click on it to allow the information.
I tried loading Mozilla Firefox, and loaded the appropriate
Mcromedia version for it, and Mozilla does the exact same thing-
just blank boxes where the animation should be. The animated pages
still work, on IE and Firefox, on my wife's sign-in pages.
I am running AVG antivirus, Ad-Aware SE Personal, CCleaner,
Spysweeper, Spybot Search and Destroy, PopupManager, and
Spywareblaster. I have disabled these as much as I know how, but
    nothing changes.
Thinking more on this, a month or so back Trend Micro online
virus scan found an infection by a virus named Anyman or something
to that effect. It recommended removing a file, which I believe was
a .dll file, but I am not sure of specifics. Normally I keep good
documentation of such things, but the paper I wrote this down on
has disappeared. Is there a file linked to animation that would be
found in each individual user's section of XP, that possibly could
have been deleted only from mine? Any good way to find it?
I truly appreciate your consideration. Thanks again,
    Woodtroll

I think the solution is a matter of directory permissions.
Make sure your login/user has the same permissions as your
wife's login/user. It might just be a matter of changing your
account type to administrator in the User Accounts control panel.
You should especially check that you have permissions to:
    Windows C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application
    Data\Macromedia\Flash Player
This is where flash stores it's cookies and Flash could be
having trouble changing them due to lack of permissions under your
login so it can't make any changes to your Flash Player settings.
I had the same problem when logging in to the network at
    work.
If I logged in to the PC via the network server Flash would
display the symptoms you're describing. Different user logins to
the server would not work either but if I logged in to the PC
locally, Flash worked fine. I think this is because when logging in
via the network server, Flash tries to store the cookies on the
server and it can't. I'm going to try to get the network manager to
allow Flash access to this directory and hopefully that will fix
    the problem.
Good luck to you, I spent a lot of hours finally figuring
    this out.

  • Adobe Flash Won't Work With Safari

Just today i found that something is wrong with either youtube, safari or flash player. Whenever I click a video on youtube it gives me this huge wall of text. I don't know if this has occured with anyone else before but please help! its really frustrating and I can't really find any answers online. I even tried restarting and reinstalling flash player and it still won't work. Thanks!
^^^ it looks like that :\

    I vote Flash Player.
First uninstall Flash Player according to the instructions here:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-mac-os.html
Read and follow all the instructions with care.
If you must have Flash Player, install it from this site:

  • Flash won't work, neither will anything else

I'm on a Windows 7, 32bit system. My browser is IE8. My flash player version is 10,1,102,64. I recently got the Antivirus Actions virus, and I was able to get rid of it using malwarebytes, but now things like youtube, twitter, and parts of google won't work. On youtube only a black box shows where the video should be. On some websites it says that I need to upgrade my Flash plugin. On twitter it says that I need to enable javascript (I checked and it is already enabled), and on google it says that my cookies are disabled. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling both flash and java, but nothing has changed. Because of these issues I wasn't even able to use this forum on my laptop, I had to switch to another computer. If someone can tell me how to resolve these issues I would greatly appreciate it.

I'm afraid that the system restore didn't work.
As for what you suggested for flash. I don't know what this means but when I select "flash player" from my start menu Adobe Flash CS5 pops up. Isn't that program more for making flash applications? I know that I've uploaded regular flash from adobe.

  • Flash won't work (sort of).

I've been having troubles with my flash player recetnly, as for some reason many YouTube vidoes won't work for me, but some still do. When it says to update my flash player, I download the program (install_flashplayer12x32_mssd_aaa_aih) and run it, but nothing happens. No changes are made and I can't figure it out.
Does anyone have any idea what the problem it is, and what I can do to fix it?

Download the Adobe Flash Player uninstaller and installer directly by right clicking the following links and selecting "Save Link as".
    Flash Player Uninstaller
Flash Player Plug-in (All other browsers)
Save the files to your Downloads folder - DO NOT run anything yet.
    Reboot your system.
BEFORE opening anything, go to the Downloads folder and run the UNINSTALLER to remove Flash Player.
Next, run the Flash Player (other browsers) Installer.

(including adobe) pages......i have edited IE security...i just
    cannot get this to work
i may just use firefox...but i prefer IE
    anyone got any suggestions
    thanks

What version of Flash Player do you have installed?

Also, what OS and browser are you using?

  • Installation with GPO completed, Flash won't work!

    Dear all,
I want to distribute Adobe Flash 10 and made a request for a MSI file.
    This went ok. Afterwards:
    - Created an open shared folder (allow everyone for testing), copied the MSI in it
    - made an OU on active directory
    - moved my pc and user name in this folder
    - created a group policy: assigned flash player to user
Reboot my pc. Starts installing, I can see it in Add/remove programs.
Tested Flash on serveral sites, it won't appear.
The funny thing is, the logo in add/remove is different from a normal flash installation (red box).
It shows a default windows logo: computer screen with cdrom.
The name is normal. See image below!
If I install flash with a double click on the MSI and run the installer, it works.
Does anyone knows what this could be???
I tried to do it while following the procedure from Adobe.
    Thanks a lot,
    Bart

    Anwered by myself.
For whatever reason my test computer is not able to receive a quick answer from the Domain Controller at the startup.
I guess it has something to do with crappy software or added nic's from Vmware.
Placed my second test computer in the same test OU. gpupdate /force
    Reboot and bingo!
Stupid to fully trust my damn computer system.
    Thanks for your effort.

  • As the Administrator Flash won't work, as another user Flash works

I have an HP with XP home edition SP2. I'm set up as the
administrator and my son is set up as an user. I'm running Flash
9.0.115 and generally have no problems. My son goes to the Webkinz
website and logs on and plays the games and has no problems. When
my wife goes to the same web site and logged on as the
administrator all she gets is a white screen. When she logs on
using my sons account she has no problems. I;ve noticed a few other
sites where I get the black screen but if I log in under my son's
account I have no problems. I've tried all the fixes and trouble
shooting tips I can find but nothing works. I had no problems at
all until we up graded to version 9.

The problem is that Flash Player 9 creates registry keys that
grant permissions only to the administrative user who installed it,
and no others. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling from anothe
administative user account, and then the 2nd account can use it and
the first cannot. I've gone in and looked at permissions on the
registry keys with both installations, and it's clear Adobe's
install sets up registry key permissions for just one user. I've
verified this on one of our home PCs and one work PC, both running
Windows XP SP2. I've reported it to Adobe support and have been
waiting since Jan. 3, 2007 for a response.

    Hi...
When I log on under my username on XP... flash works fine.
When my wife logs on under her username... no flash... no

  • Flash won't work on child family safety account

    Hi
I have installed Family Safety on Windows 7 32 bit Ultimate but flash media will not work on the child accounts where it will on the parent admin account.  I have tried both interbet explorer 11 and Google Chrome.  I have checked plugins are enabled in both.  When looking through allowed applications in family safety, neither flash or shockwave show up.
    Any ideas?

  • Adobe Flash Won't Work!

Hi all!  I am running Windows XP (32 bit), Internet Explorer 7, Service Pack 3.  My flash was working fine til I had to reinstall my operating system yesterday.  When I downloaded Adobe Flash 11 it didn't work, so I checked system requirements.  My processor speed isn't fast enough because my processor speed is  1.8 Ghz and Adobe Flash needs 2.33 Ghz, so I uninstalled Flash 11 and installed Flash 10.3 then 10.1.  Now when I go to youtube it says I need a newer version which I can't get.
I know that Flash is installed correctly because youtube can recognize that I had a version of Adobe Flash.  However, when I go to Adobe's website to test for flash it doesn't recognize it, and I went to another website to test and it didn't recognize it either.  I find it wierd that it worked until I reinstalled my operating system. The only problem I have with my computer is that I need a driver for my pci simple communications controller.  I am working on that right now.
I really hope someone can help me because I can't get on facebook either and my crops are dying on Frontierville.  LOL.  But seriously, they are dying!
    Thanks for any help.

I'm glad you mentioned that your crops are dying because that's a big clue, funny as that may sound. What you need here is the Adobe Shockwave Player which you can download from here: http://get.adobe.com/shockwave/
It differs from the Flash player in that it's an enhanced version used for games and the like where you have some interaction with the animation.
But I'm also wondering if you might not have disabled your antivirus program before installing Flash. Most of these security apps incorporate all kind of extra scanners which interfere with program installations. What I suggest you do here is to uninstall Flash again using the procedure described in this post which resolved a similar issue for another user yesterday: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4081633#4081633
Disable the AV shields again before you install Shockwave needless to say.

  • Flash won't work no matter what i do

I have been having an issue with flash, whether it's video's or games, nothing will load. i have uninstalled and reinstalled it twice, i have cleared the caches and followed every bit of advice to make it work and still nothing. i noticed that i have a 64 bit system but it's showing that my flash player is a 32 bit, would this be the problem?

What is your operating system & version?
    What is your web browser?
What makes you say "my flash player is a 32 bit"?
