My fonts are all slanted - what to do?

Something has caused all of my fonts to be slanted - almost as if they were all italic, but not quite.
This is only in PS, not any other app. I'm using PS cc (2014) photographer edition - all up to date automatically.
Any idea how to fix this - I'm assuming it's some preference file but how do I tell which one?

Postscript Fonts are all displaying in italics.

Why is my very expensive postscript font collection displaying only in italic? When I choose italic, the font becomes even more slanted. Truetype system fonts are displaying normally. Is this a known/new problem? My fonts worked fine back in 10.4.3.

I am having a similar problem with Apple's Myriad Set font. Final Cut Pro (v.5)only displays the font in italic, regardless of the size or style - choosing italic only makes it more italicly. All my other fonts show just fine. It used to work. I've restarted, repaired file permissions, reinstalled the font and trashed Final Cut's preferences. I think I may be forced to farm all the type out to Motion (which happens to work just fine!), which in this case, would mean a frustrating slow down in my workflow.
At this point, I'm wondering if it has something to do with 10.4.6....?
I believe Myriad Set is True Type, but it's intriguing to see your problem look so similar to mine.

PSE 12- Fonts are all cap and caps lock is not on

The caps lock isn't on, but all fonts are in cap. I've tried resetting the tool as suggested in the forums, but even that didn't help. What else can I do?

Which operating system are you running on?
Does it happen if you change fonts?
The normal thing is to reset the type tool but I see you have tried that. The next thing to try is to reset all your preferences.
Go to the Edit menu, select Preferences -> General.
Click on the button to Reset Preferences on Next launch
Then close the editor and reopen it.

My default fonts are all in Bold in most software now. How do I fix this?

So I installed in a large batch about 1,000 some fonts. I found my old font collection and got WAY to excited. Now however, most applications (Safair, TextEdit, Mail) chose to use a bold verison of Arial instead of regular Arial and when I change the default to specifically detail regular Arial it instead chooses a random font, I don't even remember the name of.
I've tried messing around in FontBook, turning things off and on..... but then I don't have Arial and every single webpage anywhere uses Arial as a default and so the usability is all off.
Any suggestions?

At least one of the fonts you installed is causing a font conflict. Very common with free fonts. A handful (by percentage) of free fonts are well made. The vast majority are less than useless.

Firefox updated this morning and my fonts are all out of sync .want it back to what it was.

ok firefox updated this morning without me agreeing to it. once updated i notice the page i was on the font is huge. I then check in to facebook to find that page is totally different with regard to font size and form size . the games i play on there are now un playable due to the size of screen that i am used to .
i have tried changing settings on firefox to a reasonable size font and yes on some of the pages i visit regulary they are fine but still not the way i want it .and facebook well just looks horrible. i would like my fonts and pages i view to look the same as they did the night before the update. i am now running 22.0 i believe .

Recently some of pages I view in Firefox have the text scattered all over the place and makes them impossible to understand. How do I get them back to normal? You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

when i view web site like www.loksatta.com i can see only squares in stead of fonts.but when i use my opera mini it works fine. hopefully problem with some fonts. please guide.

The Android OS does not provide fonts for Devanagari. http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=1618
There are plans to have a way to work around this but we have not been able to implement this feature yet.

HELP, my fonts are all RED

So after I lost a major part of my script and am now prepared to rewrite, now Every Font is in Red with underline. When I try to backspace, it turns my original font to red as well. This script seems like it's gonna be huge, judging the many impedents it's facing. I hope there's an easy solution to this one.

I've tried to change it from the text color, but those settings look ok, black dot on white background. There's something going on that I can't figure no matter what I'm trying.

I found all of my photos on my hard drive but when I attempt to import them to iPhoto it says unreadable files.

What do you mean your computer died? Did the hard drive fail? Did you just run out of battery? What? Your best solution for either scenario would be to restore you backup copy of the library made just before the problem happened.
Otherwise if it was just a battery that ran out of juice try the following:
make a temporary, backup copy (select the library and type Command+D) and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #1, followed by #3 and then #4.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
If the hard drive failed then you will definitely need to have a backup copy to recover your photos.

The fonts are not displaying correctly

When I open a text box and type all of the fonts are all basically the same. They donot display correctly. I uninstalled and re-installed photoshop elements 11 and they still do not work.

Click on the icon ...
...... select Reset Tool from the drop down list.
If that doesn't work, please let know which operating system you are running on.

Same way it works with any computer...when you delete something, the data isn't actually deleted, just the pointers to the data. As you use your device, the data gets overwritten, since the iOS views it as "free" space..
If you want the data truly gone, you need to erase your phone. Same way it works on any computer.

Elements 11 - Lenovo T420 - Panasonic Camcorder SDR-H100 - Clips in .MOD - clips are all squashed.- tried changing to .MOV . Please Help

Lenovo T420 computer - Using Panasonic Camcorder SDR-H100 which produces it's clips in .MOD format(tried changing to MOV - no change) using Elements 11 frames are all squashed - what am I missing? Please help -I can load the clips into windows movie maker and they work fine.

The answer to your question depends on which model JVC camcorder you have.
Here are a few basics:
1. If you have a JVC HD Everio that records in the AVCHD high definition file format (.mts file extension), and you have an Mac with an Intel processor, (sound like you do) running iMovie '08 or '09, then it should be no problem. Simply connect the camcorder via USB and launch iMovie.
2. If you have a slightly older JVC HD Everio that records MPEG2 high definition (.tod file format), then it is easiest if you record in the special 1440CBR mode, and transfer your video to your Mac using an i.Link (Firewire Connection) using the "Playlist Dubbing" process which is explained in your owner's manual.

I'm not good with computers or software. I'm trying to save a RAW Ai file I created. When I currently save it, the color or characters/size fonts are not coming up in the saved version. How can I save, and have all of my information

When you say "Colors/Fonts" are not saved, I'm not sure what you mean. How have you determined they were not saved?
Also, not sure what a "RAW" AI file is. I assume you mean simply a native format .ai file.
.ai will save all font and color information. It does not "embed" fonts, but it saves what fonts were used and will call the correct fonts when reopened (assuming fonts are available on the system).
CC 2014 also has a "Package" feature that will collect assets (fonts and images) into a central folder for easy distribution.

What are all those files?

I have two Macs:
iMac G4 at home with less than 300000 files.
iBook G4 at home with over 700000 files.
Now, what are the 400000 extra files on my iBook, compared to the iMac? How do I find them?
If they were large, I could have used WhatSize from http://www.versiontracker.com/
But they are not large, since the hard drive is far from full.
On a similar note: How can I find duplicates of files? I know Font Book finds duplicate fonts, but what about other kinds of documents?

What size would be my next move here. At least it will show you something? Won't it?
You are quite right. By clicking on a folder, WhatSize tells me the size as well as the number of files and folders it contains. (I didn't realize that before.) So even if the folders are always sorted by size (not number of files), I can manually find my way around.
So I found out that
/Users/myname/Library/Caches/Metadata/Microsoft/Entourage
contains 181,000 files. So I found roughly half of the files. They are all called something like 138725.vRgeMessage.
What are these messages/files?
Can I just delete the contents of /Users/myname/Library/Caches/ without any adverse effects?
EDIT: I also found 40,000 more printer driver files on the iBook. I know I can delete a lot of those.
I also didn't remember the number of files correctly. The difference is 755789-386940=368849 files. Almost 400000 anyway. ;-)
