My Forwards Cause another User's Mail Program to Quit

Hello. A friend has a similar computer to mine, an eMac, I believe 10.3 version. Lately he has indicated that when I send him a Forward message it sometimes causes his Mail program to quit. It seems to happen fairly frequently but not on all my Forwards.
Ordinary e-mail messages to him apparently do not cause the problem. He indicates other Forwards from other computers dont do it. Any ideas? Thanks.

My man, BDAqua, has the best way . . .
Have him download the 10.3.9 COMBO update here:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2464
Then he will be up to 10.3.9 and he will have the latest mail for that version.
If he wants to go to Tiger, then he'll need to pay for that upgrade.
Have him check out what size the mails are that are crashing for him,
and let us know how you guys are coming along, OK???

Deleting AD users vs Disabling.  What is the difference?  If an account is disabled, can it still be setup for mail forwarding to another user? If an account is deleted, what files get deleted?  Thanks.

    Hi,
Disable Users: Nobody can log in to the mailbox, but the data is safe and it can receive email. Once it is enabled, it is back to normal.
Delete Users: when the user is deleted all the services are removed and all data is erased. The user is deleted from our Active Directory. If you create a user with the same Name and Emial address again, no data or services are recovered.
If you disable a user, the Active Directory object remains untouched together with the mailbox data and properties, but you will not be able to access any mailbox data.
If you delete a user, the Active Directory object is removed together with all data and properties of the user.
    Hope it helps.

  • Call forward to another users voicemail

Here is the scenario, i cannot find a way to accomplish this.
i am using CUCM 8.5 and Unity Connection 8.5
    here is the requirement
    1. User1 call forwards her phone to User2
    2. A call comes in to User1, the call is forwarded to User2
    3. If User2 is unavailable, the call is redirected to User2 voicemail.
The default behaviour is that if User2 does not answer, the call is redirected to the original called number (User1)
I have created forwarded routing rules in Unity connection and i can get the call to end up at User2 voicemailbox however, the user requires that this happens only when the call is forwarded manually. For example, if i call User1 and let it go to Voicemail, it will still go to User2
They want that it goes only to the User2 voicemail only in the specific circumstance that the phone is in call forward mode, not by letting it go to voicemail
    Does it make sense?
I think my users are asking too much

    Hi Steven,
I'll just add a note to the great tips from Hailey & Roger (+5 each!)
I thought this was an interesting question, so I tried a number of ways
to see if this could be done
The problem, as you've discovered, is that the original Forwarded CLID
is so "sticky" as to render most of the standard routing methods moot.
In my tests I was trying to route calls that come into 7001 and are CFWDALL
to 5126 to route to the 5126 mailbox without changing the Originally dialed
to last redirecting setting (as nicely noted by Hailey).
I had to put in a mid-point number that was set to CFWDALL (via PSTN)
    back to the second number.
So I setup a CTI-RP on a phantom (non-DID) DN of 4241 and set the CFWDALL
to 5126. I could then CFWD from 7001 to 4241 which then routed to 5126 with
the CLID stripped off and would then give us the desired results. No other method
that I could come up with would work.
    Cheers!

  • Another User with Mail Not Working After Upgrade to Leopard

I started my own thread because the other person with the same issue was able to resolve his by moving the two files in the Mail library. Well, they don't exist in mine. So I can't move them.
When I try to open mail, I get nothing. I have to manually open a message viewer window. When I do, there are no messages, I can't send or receive. The Connection Doctor shows that I am connected to the internet.
When I try to quit mail, I can't - I have to force quit.
I've tried the suggestions that were here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2537
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2486
    but so far no luck.
    Ideas?

Create a new user account. Log out of your account and log into the new account. Open Mail and configure it for you mail server. If all is working properly, then you have some serious corruption of something in your normal user account. This may be caused by any number of things such as upgrading a dysfunctional OS X. You might then consider backing up your personal files and data, then erasing the hard drive and installing Leopard from scratch. Or you could try the following:
How to Perform an Archive and Install
An Archive and Install will NOT erase your hard drive, but you must have sufficient free space for a second OS X installation which could be from 3-9 GBs depending upon the version of OS X and selected installation options. The free space requirement is over and above normal free space requirements which should be at least 6-10 GBs. Read all the linked references carefully before proceeding.
    1. Be sure to use Disk Utility first to repair the disk before performing the Archive and Install.
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported, then quit DU and return to the installer.
    2. Do not proceed with an Archive and Install if DU reports errors it cannot fix. In that case use Disk Warrior and/or TechTool Pro to repair the hard drive. If neither can repair the drive, then you will have to erase the drive and reinstall from scratch.
    3. Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When you reach the screen to select a destination drive click once on the destination drive then click on the Option button. Select the Archive and Install option. You have an option to preserve users and network preferences. Only select this option if you are sure you have no corrupted files in your user accounts. Otherwise leave this option unchecked. Click on the OK button and continue with the OS X Installation.
    4. Upon completion of the Archive and Install you will have a Previous System Folder in the root directory. You should retain the PSF until you are sure you do not need to manually transfer any items from the PSF to your newly installed system.
    5. After moving any items you want to keep from the PSF you should delete it. You can back it up if you prefer, but you must delete it from the hard drive.
    6. You can now download a Combo Updater directly from Apple's download site to update your new system to the desired version as well as install any security or other updates. You can also do this using Software Update.

  • How do I move another users e-mail from my account to theirs?

The Apple Store set up our new iMac with one user.  My contacts and other items were automatically transferred from my iPhone at the store.  Once home, my wife set up her e-mail account in my user account before I could set up a separate user account for her. I have since set up a new user account for her.  How do I transfer her mail account out of my user account and into hers?
    Thanks,
    Edge2014

If it's an IMAP or Exchange account, the messages are stored on the server, and you don't have to move them. If it's a POP account and you removed the messages from the server, ask for instructions.

  • Is there a way to completely reinstall my mail program?

I'm having serious problems with my Mail program and am thinking that maybe if I just completely reinstall Mail on my MacBook Pro, that might help. How would I go about this? (And is there a way to do it without using those discs you get when you buy your computer? Because I lost those when our basement flooded during Hurricane Irene!)

Your problem is more likely because of something in your User, the Mail program is a global item, meaning many users can use the same program.
You can try a simple fix first.
Use the Finder > Go to open:
    ~/Library/Preferences
    and drop the
    com.apple.mail.plist
file into the Trash, reboot the machine and launch Mail, reset your preferences. See if that fixs your issue. (the plist file is automatically recreated)
To find out if it's really something in your user or the mail program itself, create/log into a another user and use the Mall program there, if issues still occur, it's the Mail program.
(If it's not in the Mail program, reinstalling it will make no difference.)
The Mail program is reinstalled from the 10.6 disks as bundled programs, or part of a "OS X overwrite" that replaces your current OS X and bundled programs with the older version on the 10.6 disk, you need to immediately Software update afterwards to get OS X and bundled programs current again.
To perform the OS X overwrite, hold c boot off the 10.6 installer disk and simply install OS X, then reboot normally and apply Software update to get current. The Mail program itself will be replaced.
Some third party programs that have kext files and other "hooks" into OS X may not function again after performing the OS X overwrite, you just need to reinstall these programs again from fresh sources and it will replace those hooks/kext files back into OS X.
Please backup your files to a external storage drive and mainatin two seperate hardware copies of your data off the machine at ALL times.

  • Replicating the workitem to another user

    Hi All,
I need to make a copy of the existing workitem and forward to another user. In my workflow, a user decision is displayed which consists of 5 different tabs. On Clicking one of the tab, workflow initiater needs to select user from displayed pop up. On Clicking the Username, it should forward the workitem and as well keep the workitem in inbox.
I used FM: SWW_WI_FORWARD in my business object.
    with following parameters:
    1. WI_ID = Current Workitem id imported from Task
    2. NEW_AGENTS:
    OTYPE | OBJID
    US | User selected
    US | SY-UNAME
    Then following message is occured:
Status change from READY to COMMITTED is not allowed/possible
But If i execute through se37 it is perfectly working.
or if i set breakpoint in the funtional module and click on forward in business workplace also it is working.
Do I need to change the method attributes?
    Please help me with this..
    Thanks in advance

you can use a LOOP step to send your WI.
include your WI step inside the LOOP step. Make sure to exit from the LOOP based on some condition depending on your requirement.
store your agent name as a record in an internal table. so initially the internal table will have only one record.
then your WI must be having 5 different outcomes based on the 5 buttons in it.
when the user clicks on the button to forward the WI, he will enter the user id of the new user. store this id in a WF container.
then in the appropriate outcome of your WI, add a container operation which will append the new user id to your agents list internal table.
the control will loop back and a new WI will be sent to both the users.
P.S. - the solution might not be ideal for your case. you will need to first understand the business requirement in more detail. also, you need to find out the process that needs to be followed for each outcome.

I suspect that you are using the Forwarding option within Workgroup Manager, and this works outside of the postfix alias scheme. I think you should just set those users you are forwarding to, to normal mail users, and put their forwarding rules ALSO in the alias file, so you would have:
    MAILER-DAEMON: postmaster
    postmaster: alex,yong
    alex: [email protected]
That should do it. You really have to commit to either using Workgroup Manager or Postfix in their entirety. They don't really work too nicely in conjunction with each other.

Hello,  I have iMac Itel i3, from Oct, 2010 and have OS 10.6.7 and multiple users.
About 3-4 days ago the Mail icon in dock had question mark and was accidently removed, along with program on my user.  Oops.
    1. Mail 4.4 is on other users and works fine, but for me it does not work and tells me V4.3 does not work with latest OS X.
    2. I reloaded software from my user with original disks  (Oct, 2010) and got Mail 4.3 again. Mail 4.3 did not work with latest OS.  I am unable to load Mail.  Gives Yellow error message.
"  You have Mail version 4.3 (1081/1084). It can’t be used on Mac OS X Version 10.6.7 (Build 10J869). For more information, click the Help button."
    3. Tried to update software and look for update for mail 4.3 on Apple site to no success.
Hate to go to MS-Entorage ( I may need to learn something new and alien) mail program since contracts are in Mail/Address Book.
    Ideas?

    Matt,
I would download and run the 10.6.7 combo update.

  • Another user's calendar appears when a date is selected in Mail message

Just upgraded to Lion on our family Mac. My wife and I each have an account on the Mac and share an Apple ID for purchases.
We each have an iPhone and have separate iCloud accounts. The shared Apple ID is used only for the App Store on the phones.
iCloud is working great, and syncing correctly with our individual accounts on the Mac.
But if I select a date that appears in a Mail message in my account on my Mac, the preview window for making an iCal event appears with my wife's calendar events, not mine!
If I go ahead and create the event anyway, it correctly appears in my calendar, not in my wife's.
Any way to prevent the display of another user's calendar when making an event from a date in a Mail message from your own account on a Mac running Lion?

    Hello James!
I do not have any ABAP Instance, only the JAVA one.
Therefore the ABAP transactions are quite useless.
The problem tables are created by people working on the CAF layer.
They have developed and deployed some homemade applications and this is leftovers from their development in some kind of way.
    Anyone with any ideas?
Could it be that (yet) some special Portal Dictionary Role needs to be asigned to the Administrator?

  • Mail not be delived to one user, unless sent as a CC or if another user is also in the TO: Field

    Hello All,
I have a strange issue that I hope someone has seen before. (Exchange 2003)
I have one user that does not receive mail to her outlook or OWA box if her address is in the To: field.
If her address is in the CC or BCC field she receives the message.
Additionally, She will receive the e-mail if her address is in the To: field along with another user.
    Trouble shooting thus far:
1.) Confirmed that Exchange message tracker is reporting successful delivery.  Yes
2.) Confirmed that the message is not going to deleted items.  Yes
3.) Confirmed this is also occurring in OWA. Yes
4.) Confirmed no white or blacklists.  Yes
5.) Confirmed Cache mode is enabled. Yes
6.) Setup the account on new workstation and have the same issue.  Yes
This is a very strange issue which I have not seen before.  If her name is the ONLY name in the To: field, the message reports successful, but does not show up in Outlook or OWA.  If her name is the ONLY name in the CC ot BCC field the message
    is delivered successfully.
If you add a second user to the To: field, the message is successful.
So to sum this up; If someone addresses a message just to her, it will report successful but will not be delivered.
If you add a second user to the To field; The message is delivered successfully.
Any help would be greatly appreciated on this one.
    Thanks in advance!
    Greg

    Hi,
Did you get any NDR message when her name is the only name in the To field?
Additionally, I recommend you check if any transport rules are applied to her mailbox.
If not, you can try to move the mailbox to other database and check if the issue persist.
    Hope this helps!
    Thanks.
