Okay so this is what can be done for you....
First go to itunes then Edit --> Preference --> Advanced --> and check off copy music to itunes music folder when adding songs to library.
Now connect the ipod to the computer (if this a new computer and the ipod has never been connected to it, you'll get a box asking you to link the libraries, Say NO)
In itunes select file then 'add folder to library' and highlight the ipod in My Computer. Then select ok. The music should start updating into itunes.
When the update is complete, remember to go back into the preference window and uncheck 'copy music to itunes music folder when adding songs to library'

My friend gave me her old ipod nano.  How do I keep her music and sync it to my itunes account?

Don't try to change the songs. Connect the iPod, click on the name of it, go to the Summary page and Restore it as a new device.

Alright, so my ipod touch stopped working, but I can still connect it to itunes, but my friend gave me his old nano. I was wondering how I could get my more updated songs from my ipod touch onto th nano. My laptop crashed whitch had all my new music, and im afraid if I sync my Ipod touch to the desktop with all my old songs, ill lose all my newer ones which I dont want to happen because I want them on my nano. Im sorry for the confusing topic im just so lost.

All you have to do is connect your new iPod to the computer that has the library for your old iPod.
When iTunes comes up, click on your new iPod under Devices.
At the top of the Summary Page click Music.
    Click Synch Music.
Do the same thing for Photos, Apps, Movies and so on...
    Now just synch the iPod.

You will need to Restore it as a New Device...
    Restore...
1: Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
2: If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane.
3: If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try using the steps in this article to force the device into recovery mode.

Then get the previous owner to remove the iPod from their account
Apple's new iCloud tool can show if a used iPhone is stolen
If you can't get that done then all yo have is a poor flashlight. You are running into
    Find My iPhone Activation Lock
Which is an anti-theft feature. Apple will not help since you are not the original purchaser of the iPod

  • My daughter gave me her old ipod nano is there a way where i can transfer thie to my name

My daughter gave me her old ipod is there a way i coild change the name to me?

Do you mean change the name of the iPod?
Renaming an iPod, iPhone, iPad or Mac
Or do you mean registering the device to you?
Get the serial number off the back. Log in to http://supportprofile.apple.com, click Add product and enter the serial number. If it says it is registered to another ID have your daughter sign in at the above webpage and remove it.

  • My daughter gave me her old ipod.

My daughter gave me her old ipod. I have downloaded itunes to my window 7 computer. When I try to sync the ipod by connecting it to my computer the ipod does not show up in the itunes drop down menu. Is thid because the ipod was named by my daughter? Does she need to deauthorize it from her Mac computer?

I'm not sure what you mean by "drop-down window", but your daughter doesn't need to do anything for you to claim and use her iPod. If you have iTunes 11, the iPod should appear as a button in the upper-right of the iTunes window, e.g.:
If you have an earlier version of iTunes, you may need to update, but normally the iPod would appear in the sidebar under the "Devices" header.  If it does not appear in either place, this support article may help:

  • My friend gave me his old ipod touch and it won't charge

My friend bought a new ipod and gave me his old one. I believe it is a 2nd gen. It does not want to charge. I have tried everyone I know's data cable and charging dock and have not had any luck. Is there any way I could solve this issue without having to send it in or taking it to a service center. I'm just looking for quick fixes that don't require me to spend much money.

Have you tried restoring, and completely turning off your ipod? You may also want to check your settings.
    Hope this helps

  • A friend gave me her old 6th generation Nano?

It still has all of her old songs on it.  I need to delete all of them and replace them with my own songs on Itunes, but my computer wont recognize the Ipod.  What should I do?

    Hello nmlucy35,
Congratulations on your new iPod nano!  I recommend reviewing this article for steps to take when your iPod is not recognized in iTunes:

It looks like the article below has the information you are looking for.
    iCloud: Change iCloud feature settings
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2613
    Turn off iCloud completely
Depending on whether you want to stop using iCloud on all or only some devices, do one or more of the following:
On your iOS device’s Home screen, go to Settings > iCloud, then at the bottom of the screen, tap Delete Account.
Note:   If you delete your iCloud account, iCloud will no longer back up your iOS data. You can still back up your device in iTunes (for more information, open iTunes and choose iTunes > Help).
On your Mac, open iCloud preferences, then click Sign Out.
If your Mac has OS X v10.7.5 and you turn off iCloud, your calendar information and reminders aren’t stored locally in iCal. If you want to retain your calendar and reminder information, you need to back it up before turning off iCloud. For more information, see the Apple Support article iCloud: Calendar & reminder data removed from Calendar and Reminders or iCal when disabling iCloud Calendar.
On your Windows computer, open the iCloud Control Panel, then click Sign Out.
Note:   If you turned on automatic download of music, app, or book purchases (in iTunes preferences or in Settings on your iOS device), your iTunes purchases are still downloaded to your devices.
Set up iCloud on your devices

  • My friend gave me her old Iphone 4s..

I need to delete the Icloud account but it prompts that all data will be removed, does that also mean photos?

I have saved all the pictures on my computer and I was trying to save it to my itunes, can I do that through my laptop? I'm kinda new at all this, I've always had android. :/

  • My friend gave me her old iPhone w/o the SIM card so I'm using it as an iTouch. I've backed up with iCloud under my Apple ID. If I restore, will I be able to re-download the apps she had or will I lose them all?

    Will I lose the apps?

yes apps are tied to appleID not phone or computer or anything
    one can't sell apps
or transfer them or sell an ios device with apps
    because of that
    no way around it

  • Lost old ipod bought a used one, how do i update my songs

I recently lost my nano 2g a few months back and i just bought my friends nano 4g. How do i change it so that all of his songs are gone and all of the songs on my itunes update onto the ipod?

Plug the new iPod into your computer, and change the computer the iPod is associated with to yours when prompted. This will delete the music and photos currently on it, but not notes or data files. To remove these, enable disk use for the iPod, open the iPod in the My Computer window, and move the unwanted items to the Recycle Bin.
