I'm trying to call my friend on FaceTime. She has an iPhone 4, and whenever I try to call her phone number, it says, "Name is not available for FaceTime" but it works on my iPad. I want to FaceTime her from my Macbook Pro. I know I have to call her iPhone phone number, but it never works. Can anyone help me?
Right click the printer in System Prefences - Print & Scan and use Reset Printing System... and then reinstall the printer, should take less than 5 minutes. Here is a photo showing how to Reset Printing System....

Create a completely separate user account for her on your computer and have her log in with that. That way your stuff won't get contaminated by hers and your data will not end up on her phone.
That said, she is almost certainly going to lose data in the process. She will need to create at least one contact in the address book on your computer before she does anything, so that when she turns on contact sync, it will not overwrite her contacts with a blank address book. Then she will need to authorize iTunes with her Apple ID and do File>Transfer Purchases to move any purchased media and apps to the iTunes on the computer. If she has any media that was not purchased on the iTunes store, it's going to be lost if she doesn't invest in 3rd party software to extract it from the phone first. Media sync is 1 way. Computer --> Phone. She will also need to extract any photos/videos from the camera roll BEFORE updating. Photos in other albums will be lost as they had to be synced to the phone from a computer to begin with. Again, 3rd party software can extract them.
There's more to it than that, but you can find complete instructions here if you search. Even with those instructions, there is a very good chance that something will be lost.
Make sure she understands that. Better yet, make it her responsibility or just tell her no, she can't do it on your computer.
Losing all of someone's data is a good way to end a friendship. -
MY wife has an Iphone 4 and I have a 5. To date we have used one apple account to manage music purchases/library. I updated ny phone to the new OS version and all her texting is showing up on my phone. I understand if i create an apple account for her I will not see her texts. Recently we bought a Mac and created a new apple account for her. How do I synched her phone with new apple account and get access to the music library under my account on the new MAC laptop before I update her phone to the new OS?
Going forward if I purchase music under my apple id and want her to have it on her device, how can I acheive that?You can continue to share an Apple ID for purchases.
Sign her in to her new account here:
Settings > iCloud > Delete Account (Keep on Phone if you want to transfer contacts, calendars, etc...) then sign in with her new ID
Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > Apple ID > Sign out then in with new
Settings > FaceTime > Apple ID > Sign out then in with new
Use the same Apple ID here:
Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Apple ID -

You can turn it off:
Turn off iPhone cellular calls

There are a lot of posts in the forums today with people having problems with iMessage. There was also a published outage yesterday, so it's possible there are still some issues that may be impacting you both.

the mute button is a switch you need to flip, not touch. if you look at it and see color, its on.

You may have to try deleting all the music from your phone (by going to Settings>General>Usage>Music, swipping All Music and tapping Delete), then sync it all back on with iTunes in order to fix this.

Voicemail is left at your carrier's server. That will continue to work unless you report your iPhone as lost or stolen with your carrier.
You may never find it again and you can't if the iPhone remains offline or out of service which means the iPhone is powered off or doesn't have cellular reception. -

I went into it and searched for imovie but couldn't find the basic imovie, which I presume is what I'd need for editing?, rather than imovie 11 for £10.49, which is for making trailers, it seems. 1. first u can backup her phone on her itunes account
2. then backup ur phone on ur itunes account
3.connect ur iphone to her account and restore backup
4. connect her phone to ur itune account and restore backup

I have lost some podcasts. I have a new (my first) iPhone and I want to sync it and my classic iPod with iTunes on my PC. Can this be done and if not, how can I recover my lost podcasts? They are no longer available for free as I first got them through subscriptions.

Second question: why are podcasts only available for so short a time now on iTunes Store and on sites like NPR?I lost maybe a dozen podcasts from multiple podcast collections on iTunes. They now have little i's on them indicating they cannot be found. I have only 1 Apple ID. I use it on iTunes and on my iPhone. Since I sync'd my iPhone with iTunes for podcasts, a bunch of them have the little i's. And some seem to be missing from my iPod too, but I can't vouch for them being thre before the sync between iTunes and the iPhone.
These podcasts were not purchased, they were subscribed to and they were free. Now that they are missing, it will cost me .99 each to replace them and that isn't going to happen, but I'd like to get them back. -
I downloaded the newest version of itunes and ever since I've been having problems. When I connect my iphone to itunes, it will say its synced up, however when i'm trying to add music its just not allowing it to happen.
Also when I try to restore the Iphone or check for updates, It says connect via USB to check for updates or restore. The same with attemting to sync apps
I've reinstalled itunes several times and removed and reinstalled my portable devices. And still nothing. When I first plug the iphone in, it will to that auto play Windows 7 does and allows pictures to be saved onto the PC.
It seems like the syncing is working with some things and now others. Any idea's would be delightful??I feel its more of my sync drivers for itunes/iphone not working if that makes sense. Its not my itunes that stops responding, its more of that if the phone syncs up it fails to anything further.
I've tried sync another iphone to the same itunes and windows autoplayer will allow the photos sorted on the iphone to be saved to the laptop but itunes won't even recongise the device is plugged in.
