My friend just made a home video movie on his newest apple TV, however, I can´t watch it on my old version of apple tv, when I try to sync it says not possible to run on this format. Would both apple´s TV formats be compatibles?

How do you make a video on the Apple TV 2?

• What video formats are compatible in DVDSP??

I have DVD Studio Pro 4 and I need to know what video formats are compatible in the program? I made an .m2v file but its too large to fit even on a DL DVD so I need to drop the .m2v file into Mpegstreamclip and convert it to something else and decrease the size so then I can drop it back into DVDSP and burn it. Any help with this? What are formats supported in DVDSP? Or, is there another way around my problem (too big of a file)?? Thanks!

Can you make the audio AC3? That may put you under.
Also keep in mind that if the 2 hour 2 minute movie is that large in file size, it means it probably was encoded at a high rate which can cause issues (you can try to re-encode the m2v in a couple of ways if needed)
As to the story issues it sounds like you made a story accidently. Take a look here

• What video formats are compatible with iMove '11

I want to be able to know what video formats are compatible with iMovie '11. Not how to convert them, just a simple list of video formats I can use.

Everything you wanted to know about iMovie but were afraid to ask:

Hello mckenna34,
Thank you for the question. If you have fully download the movie to your device, you can watch the movie offline as described in this discussion:

• Which Audio formats are compatible with FCE?

I just bought the cutest recorder, the Zoom H1 arrived today and it's going to be so handy for capturing audio files. As I'm playing with it, the WAV format it records imports and places just fine in FCE. But for some things I want a lower quality sample which will yield a longer recording time (like leaving it on for hour or more for lecture) and tried mp3 sample rate but the mp3 sample recording does not produce sound in FCE, but just a silence with blip, blip, blip...
Shouldn't mp3 work in FCE?
Also, I use Audacity and it opens none of the WAV or the MP3 and gives an error. I will be in audio 'he-double toothpicks' for a while until I learn how to capture, regulate, handle recorded files. Isn't there something like StreamClip for audio that will make your audio files compatible?
I don't know what I am doing here folks and need some advice please.
TIA,
Ken

For use in FCE, your audio should be AIF at the same sample rate as your Sequence. There are a number of ways to convert from other formats. http://fcpbook.com/Audio1.html
Okay, I read that link and ordered Quicktime 7 Pro which charged me $29.99 and there is nothing to download. It turns out that it is just the key to unlock Quicktime pro from Quicktime 7. The problem is, I have Snow Leopard and am using Quicktime 10 so version 7 is an old version. I think I paid money for something I cannot use. Quicktime would have been the way to convert my files to AIFF. This is frustrating. Now I need to go find a way to get a refund from Apple.

• I rented movies from the store and want to watch them on my HD tv. I have a media player, not apple tv. How can I watch them on my HD tv

I rented movies from I tunes and want to watch them on my HDtv. I have a media player, not appleTV. How can I watch the movies?

No, to connect iPad to your TV, use one of the following cables:
Apple Digital AV Adapter and an HDMI cable
Apple Component AV Cable
Apple Composite AV Cable
Apple VGA Adapter and a VGA cable
Apple cables are available for purchase in many countries. Go to www.apple.com/store or check with your local Apple retailer.

• HT1657 If I rent move and download it to my iPad 3 can I watch it later in a tunnel were there is no connection to the Internet?

Can I watch a rented movie without an Internet connection?

As long as the film has been fully downloaded then you shouldn't need to be online in order to then watch it

• Takes 2hrs to share Home Video movie with iTunes

Ever since I upgraded to iMovie 11 it takes hrs to share with iTunes & theater. When done the music added to video's is scratchy. Pics are ok. I've been told I need more RAM. Also been told I need a bigger processor. I'm thinking a new IMac. Help!!!

Your post said "free" and there isn't any free software that will convert MPEG-2 files to other formats. Well, Handbrake does "rip" DVD's and convert but I wouldn't use it.
After you realize that you'll need to spend money for the needed software then you'll start the conversion on your older machine. It will take a very long time (I did similar years ago on my G3 400 and it took 44 hours).
The converted .mov file was about 450MB's at half of the dimensions of the DVD version. Quality was good and the file played just fine in QuickTime Player.
You then have to find a way to share the file over the Internet. That will involve you uploading it and your friend download it. More time that you said you didn't have.
Mail seems like the best method and will actually save you time.

• HT4638 What audio formats are compatible in IOS Keynote?

When I play my Keynote presentation (created on my Mac) on the iPad, it removes my soundtrack. I am using an audio file I created in Garage Band and not recorded through Keynote.

• I just upgraded to OS X Mavericks on my Macbook Air. However, I can't connect to ANY of the printers (Epson L210 and HP Laserjet 1020) I have at work and at home. What should I do?? Help please!

HELPPP

Try deleting them from the Print & Scan System Pref, and the re-add them.
If that doesn't help, reset the Printing System by ctrl-clicking in the printer list and select Reset Printing System.
You'll then have to re-add the printers.
There's a 1022 listed here, but no 1020: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US

Can I do this? I realise I might need to hack the ATV a bit, this doesn't bother me unduly.
no. appletv can only access content that is in itunes
Failing that being possible, can I simple remove the external from the Mini and plug it into the ATV and get access to it's contents that way?
no. the USB port has no end user function.
Worth noting..... I don't want to convert all the movies to the iTunes friendly format. Yes, I know AVI is old, and rubbish and so on, but I'm happy with them that way. This is my personal choice, so please, no need to take this thread OT on that one!
appletv cannot play AVI files
Also, I'm aware that Apple might not have intended me to use the ATV in this way, but it's mine now, so I'll use it the way I want, not the way Apple dictate. So please don't bother going OT on that one either.
note that my answers refer to a standard "as is" appletv. discussions regarding hacking or modifications (which i suspect is what you want to do) are not permitted here as per Ts&Cs.
if you want to do anything other than what it is designed to do then you will need to seek assistance elsewhere.

• I bought a SD movie bundle, but I want the HD bundle, can I replace it with the HD version

I bought a SD movie bundle and now I want them in HD. I was wondering if there was any way to purchase them for less instead of having to but the whole bundle again in HD. Like maybe if the HD bundle costed $50 and the SD costed $30 then I could play $20 instead of $50 for the whole bundle again? Something sort of similar to complete my album in iTunes, or something along those lines?

No, if you want the HD bundle then you will have to pay the full price, there isn't a discount for having bought it in SD.
If you've only just bought the SD version then you can try contacting iTunes Support and see if they will refund you so that you can buy the HD version instead : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption

• I have downloaded the garage band update version 1 to my macbook with osx but the old version of garage band is what boots up, New features are not present.

I have downloaded the new version of Garageband in an update to my new 2014 macbook with osx but it does not open with new features. It si still the original window for the app. Help. I reviewed the updates menu and it says it was installed.

I have the older 6.0.5. Looks like I'm way behind the newer version, and will need to download the 10.0.2. Will I still be able to access all of my own recordings after downloading the new version?
Yes, the newest GarageBand can open the projects from GarageBand 6.0.5.
GarageBand 10.0.2 is very different from GarageBand 6.0.5, it is more like a light version of Logic. It brings new features like drummers and arpeggiators, but dropped other importaant features like podcasts or the sound effect instrument. So you will want to keep both versions installed.
When you upgrade to 10.0.2, the installer will move your current 6.0.5 to a subfolder of Applications. On no account delete it, until you are perfectly happy with the new version. I am still starting my projects in GarageBand 6.0.5, set everything up with the easy to use GB '11 interface, and then add the finishing touches, drummers etc., in GarageBand 10.0.
Note: GarageBand 10.0 is free, but it is not a full version; you will have to make an in-app purchase to get lessons, instruments, loops. With GB '11 still installed, this should be free. See this document: Expanding GarageBand for Mac (v10.0) content with an in-app purchase
