If two of you shared the same contacts you were logged in with the same Apple ID. In order to avoid this you need to use different Apple IDs, and be using separate Macs or separate user accounts on the same Mac.
One or other of you should create a new Apple ID at http://appleid.apple.com for which you will need a non-Apple email address which hasn't been associated with another Apple ID.

Hello Donna, sorry you are having troubles. I wanted to check that you have Firefox set as your default browser on Windows? We have an article here which walks through how to do this:

If you do have Firefox set as the default, it might be a registry issue which would need to be configured.

Go into the settings and the app store. there you'll see the options to automatially update purchases. You can turn it off for music or other content. That should keep things from automatically downloading to both your devices.

I talked to my friend today and he said that he was able to make his iPod Touch make a noise without the FindMyiPhone app installed. He used his dad's device and logged onto his iCloud account and made a noise.

The phone can only be tracked when it is connected to the internet, either by wifi or your cellular data network, and only if you have set up iCloud and Find My iPhone on the phone before losing it. I don't believe erasing the phone will delete your photo stream, which should remain in iCloud along with your other iCloud data. If your carrier blacklists the phone from their network, a theif could probably still jailbreak it to unlock it so it would work on another carrier's network. If you erase the phone, it will erase all your data and settings so it could no longer be tracked. This is something you do if you're pretty sure you aren't going to get it back and/or you are more concerned about someone gaining access to your data than you are getting it back. Of course, the remote erase command can also only be executed when the phone is connected to the internet; if it is never online again, the phone won't be erased. Cellular
Turn all off
Then go to:
Settings
Wifi
Choose one network
Then back to settings
turn on Cellular Data
Turn on Enable 3G

Lost my iphone4S few days ago , even I have filed a police report with the IMEI code , Later on i signed into icloud ,Find my iPhone shows that it is offline, and all the requested action,lost mode was pending , after some time the phone was switched on for few minutes the phone location got located & even the lost mode got activated but after that i never got any updates from that phone, still my iphone shows it is offline ..so is that possible if somone has restored & a new SIM is installed and activated in my iphone even if the lost mode is activated , if so how could i trace it

If the phone is restored, it's like a brand new phone software/data-wise. You cannot track it.

Lost iPhone 5, Battery Dead, Last Used 10hrs Ago, Not Showing Last Known Location?

I lost my iphone 5 and now the battery is dead. I last used it 10 hours ago, but iCloud is not showing it's "last known location" - it just says it's offline. iCloud is supposed to show it's last known location for 24 hours. How can I find it's last known location if I know it was used just 10 hours ago?

So, the conclusion of my story is: I immediately logged into iCloud from my computer as soon as I noticed it was missing. I put my phone into 'Lock Mode' which allowed me to apply a passcode and message on the screen instructing the finder to call my friend's #. 4 days later, my friend got a phone call - a guy who tried to restore and activate it for his own use discovered it was impossible without my newly applied passcode, and he decided to heed the message I had displayed. He claims he bought it for cheap off craigslist, but I think he found it, tried to activate it, couldn't, and felt guilty. The happy ending is he agreed to meet me and hand back over my phone. Unbelievable!
BUT - there is no reason why it should have not displayed the last known location when I initially checked online. My Find My iPhone was turned on, and it should have worked, but it didn't. It simply said it was offline even though it was well within the 24 hour time period of when I last had it in my possession. So fortunately, the LOCK MODE was enough to deter the would be new owner from going through with trying to sell, hack, or activate it.
