My full list of Bookmark folders no longer shows when I select "Choose"

With the most recent upgrade, my full list of Bookmark folders no longer shows when I select "choose"--I only get a list of five of my folders. The whole list used to show.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
*https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes
Another possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

  • When bookmarking a page, I can't get the complete list of bookmark folders to dropdown in order to select any folder in which to bookmark page. What do you set to get whole list of folders in Bookmarks to drop down?

When bookmarking a page, I can't get the complete list of bookmark folders to drop down in order to select any folder in which to bookmark page. The 'Folder:' bar has 'Bookmarks Menu' showing. The arrow on the bar drops down 5 recent folders to which pages have been saved, but the pop down arrow to the right of the bar just opens to show the three categories and 'New Folder' button. What do you set to get whole list of folders in Bookmarks to drop down?

To all, embarrassingly enough, I have discovered that I didn't know how to expand the three categories including 'Bookmarks Menu' in the 'Bookmark This Page' pop up interface. It was expanded by default on the initial Firefox opening and first page bookmark attempt. Next use it only showed categories. I clicked and double clicked the 'Bookmarks Menu' line, but failed to see the small, shaded triangle used to expand/collapse list. If it appears collapsed, just tap triangle at left of line to see all folders. It seems to open the same way after I do it for first time. Sorry for the inconvenience, and thanks for all the attempts to help.

  • I have just updated to Lion and now my folders no longer show number of items on the bottom. Is there a fix for this?

I have just updated to Lion and now my folders no longer show number of items on the bottom. Is there a fix for this? I allways found that handy. Now I have to click on an icon on the top, This is a backward step if that is now the only way to see the number of items. Am I missing something obvious?

In the good old days of Snow Leopard, an open Finder folder had a border along the bottom of the window which could show the number of items in that window and the total available space on the hard disk or partition that folder resides on. That bottom border is gone in Lion and those two bits of information are gone with it. Is that what you're talking about? If so, I'd like to learn how to get it back too and "Show Item Info" is not the way.

  • Just switched from IE, imported my favorites okay, but Firefox won't let me put new bookmarks in the folders. When I select "choose", it shoes no folders. Why?

Firefox doesn't seem to recognize the favorites folders I imported from IE. I can't save a bookmark in any folder I already had when I changed to FF. When I select "choose", my only choices are Bookmark Toolbar, Bookmark Menu or Unsorted Bookmarks. I badly need to put bookmarks in my imported folders.

    [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Bookmarks] <br />
'''All''' bookmarks are in one of those 3 main folders. The bookmarks and folders that were imported from IE should be in the '''Bookmarks Menu''' folder.
There should be two different "down arrow" buttons to the right of the folder name ''(the appearance differs by operating system - IMO it's the best on WinXP)'', the left one allows you to select one of those 3 main folders, and the one on the right allows you to see the folders in the main folder that is selected. <br />''A silly interface, IMO, but it's been that way through 3 major version releases, so it has been consistent in it's lack intuitiveness.''
You might want to look at the Add Bookmark Here ² extension - that type of "Add Bookmark" window should have been the default in Firefox 3.o and newer versions: <br />

  • How do I add a bookmark folder at a specific location in a list of bookmark folders?

I have a folder that contains a long list of folders. I wish to insert a new folder in the middle of the existing list. How do I do this? When I insert the folder by selecting the enclosing folder the new folder is placed at the bottom. When I select within the list of folders, the new folder is inserted into one of the existing folders. For example, if I have a folder "Alphabet" containing folders A to L and N to Z, I want to insert "M" between "L" and "N", but it either ends up after "Z" or inside "L".

Yes. I am creating in the Bookmarks Manager. The problem is that it seems like you can only create a new folder ( or paste for that matter) at the bottom of the containing folder. The only way then to place the folder in a different position is to create or paste and then drag. Cut and paste won't work (I don't think) because it will paste at the bottom of the containing folder. Dragging is a, uh, drag, if you have a really long list of folders.

  • In Firefox4, can I lose the folder icons from the Bookmarks Bar while keeping icons everywhere else (because the folder icons are superfluous and extend the horizontal list of bookmark folders beyond the width of the window)?

I've just installed Firefox4 for Mac (OS 10.6.7) and can no longer see all my bookmark folders at once across the top -- because the folder icons make the Bookmarks Bar too wide. Yet, I like the icons on the other bars, so I don't want to turn them off globally. Is there a way to just lose the folder icons -- which don't appear to serve a purpose anyway?

Small correction to original post. Machine is an iMac 2.4ghz Intel Core 2 Duo. (I was at home when I made the first post.) But the bookmarks menu behavior still exists today and FF 5 is essentially unusable.
System details next to the post are not for machine with the bug in question.
Found a copy of FF4 to use until a solution is found. Turned off automatic updates to preserve this version.

  • Why do the title bar on Firefox and taskbar on Windows 7 leave distorted image when a list of bookmark folders crosses either one ?

I use lots of folders in my bookmarks list. I have noticed that with both AMD and Nvidia based video cards, that if I am using a folder in my bookmarks list that has lots and lots of bookmarks, the list of bookmarks will cross both the title bar area of Firefox and the taskbar on Windows 7 at the bottom. When this happens, both the title bar on Firefox versions 8-10 and the taskbar at the bottom will leave images from the bookmark list that don't go away (unless I use F11 view fullscreen to clear away the image and restore to normal ). If I am using a Matrox video card, this doesn't happen. Why is this?

    Hey cor-el,
Wow. That did it. You are a genius! Thank you, thank you. It's very important that I be able to use the folders with saved bookmarks feature for my business which I rely on daily.
I unchecked the "use hardware acceleration feature" where you said it was in Firefox 9 browser and it resolved the problem immediately. I am using an Nvidia GS8400 video card. I was having the same problem on the new ATI/AMD video cards too (haven't tested though on ATI computer yet). My Matrox M9120 doesn't do that at all though. Do you have any idea why that is ? Is it a software conflict between Nvidia or AMD drivers and Firefox?
One more question on your response solution, why do you recommend upgrading to current video card drivers since un-checking the "hardware acceleration" feature in Firefox works? The video card drivers on the disc that came with the card I am using were supplied by the manufacturer and released last year. Shouldn't that be good enough?

  • IPhone 4s updated with IOS 8. Not the calendar will not show a full list of dates. Instead it shows the whole month with the list of the day selected. I want to have my full list back. So much easier to scroll thru when making appointments.

iPhone 4s just updated with IOS 8. Now my calendar does not offer the full list of items by day on the screen. Instead I see the month and below the month are the appointments in a list for the selected day only. I would like the option to have the full list available as it is much easier to scroll thru the list when making appointments.

    Hello memormor,
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
To see the full scrollable list of events, start from the day view (tap on a day), not the month view, then click .

  • IPhoto folders no longer showing in iTunes & System Pref???

has anyone had this problem recently?
when i'm syncing iPod it no longer shows individual folders that you could select from. it seems to me that it wants to wipe out the folders that are existing on my iPod to replace it with entire iPhoto library without separate folders.
also, in system preferences it no longer shows folders from iPhoto. ?
i don't understand. could it have anything to do with iWeb? that is about the only thing i've "played" around with recently...

okay, so i just restarted my computer & the desktop changed.
i usually only sleep the computer & so the desktop doesn't change. even when i did shutdown/restart computer in the past, the desktop did not change. i think somehow this is all connected. it seems if i don't have whatever photo my desktop is saved on the desktop, it will change it back into some generic photo...should i just make an appointment at an apple store? i don't have iPhoto 08 & there have been no updates...

  • My bookmarks toolbar no longer shows up. View ⟶ Toolbars ⟶ Bookmarks Toolbar doesn't work. Also View ⟶ Toolbars ⟶ Customize doesn't bring up a dialogue box.

I can only see the contents of my bookmarks toolbar via History ⟶ Show All History. And I can't customize the toolbars because I can't bring up the dialogue box.
I'm also having trouble with the sidebar:
Two things I can't get to show in the sidebar are Bookmarks and History (View ⟶ Sidebar ⟶ Bookmarks and View ⟶ Sidebar ⟶ History). The shortcuts don't work either.
Two things I can get to show in the sidebar ScrapBook and Pocket, however, I can't close the sidebar via the top right cross, but have to go via the menu: View ⟶ Sidebar ⟶ Pocket / ScrapBook.

  • STMS logon screen no longer shows when doing an import

For transporting objects from QA1 (Quality Assurance) to PRD
(Production), the logon screen no longer shows up. For audit purposes
we want this screen to show up. For transporting objects from DV1
(Development) to QA1 (Quality Assurance), the logon screen is there.
I've checked and no one has enabled "Trusted Services" in the domain
and there is no user id in the RFC connection and logon screen is
    checked.
What else might I check to turn back on this logon screen?

check TMS TRFC connections in SM59, check login information and delete userID and password.
    try again.
    good luck.

  • How do I import a bookmarks folder from another computer and add it to my existing list of bookmarks folders?

I have two computers. One contains a folder of bookmarks that I want to transfer to the other computer and add it in. I don't want to replace all my bookmarks on the second computer with those from the first computer. How do I do this?

Which kind of backup did you do? A backup from the Bookmarks Organizer or a backup using the program MozBackup?
If you used MozBackup, you need to install it on the new computer to decode the backup. http://mozbackup.jasnapaka.com/
If you used the Bookmarks Organizer, you might just need to add .json to the end of the file name.

  • Bookmarks Toolbar no longer shows all items

I have just installed 7.0.1 (I can't call it an upgrade).
I can no longer see all entries in my Bookmarks Toolbar for 2 reasons:-
    1. It includes unnecessary icons which just take up space.
    2. There is a "Bookmarks" Tab which I do not want, but cannot delete. It just takes up space. I rarely, if ever, use Bookmarks because I have everything I use in folders in the Bookmarks Toolbar.
How do I remove these unwanted items?

    Try:

  • Why can't I view my bookmark folders in alphabetical order when I click on the bookmark button on the browser? Is there a way to see the folders in alphabetical order all the time?

I click on the bookmarks button on the Firefox browser and the folders that hold the bookmarks are not in any particular order. I would like the folders to be in alphabetical order when I see them...when I click on the bookmarks button at the top of the browser. When I go to organize bookmarks I can sort them so they are in alphabetical order, but they do not show up that way when you just click on the bookmark button to get to your bookmarks. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!!
