My G4 won't recognize a new (unburned) blank dvd

It reads 16x dvds that have been burned already, but doesn't burn blank 16x dvds. I thought it could have something to do with the speed of the new dvd. I had some old unburned dvds from years ago, I tried them and they burned fine. Do I need a new dvd drive?

What is the DVD-R burn rating of your drive?
If it is 8x, then you need to find closer to 8x compatible media.
16x media will often give old drives a hard time, as the old drives do not have the firmware needed to handle the newer media (reading is different than burning).
Some drives may be able to have the firmware updated (not through Apple, but third party). OEM drives are more difficult, but many Pioneer drives may be updated. This could help with burning the latest media.
Since 16x can also be burned at slower speeds, often times the brand of media can be the problem. A change in brand may help.
BUT, typical advice is to use media that has a max speed rating that is close to that of your drive.
If your drive is 2x or 4x rated, you would be better off spending $30 and replacing the old drive with a new one.

FCP won't recognize my new Sony FX7 camera

I don't believe v. 6 of FCP recognizes it either and my guess is that capture will be by the Apple Intermediate Codec AIC in iMovie

Why won't my Mac recognize Verbatim Dual Layer blank DVDs?
I've just completed a 140 minute project in FCP. I've encoded an MPEG2 file that is 5.75GB in size. Brought into DVDSP and am trying to burn the DVD.
I have Final Cut Studio 1, latest updates and everything.
Because of the 5.75GB size I need to burn to Dual Layer DVD. I have Verbatim 4x 8.56GB dual layer DVDs.
When I click buld/burn and pop in a dual layer DVD I get an error saying "please insert compatible disc".
Even with every app closed. If I put one of these DVDs in my Mac it simply spits it out after about 20 seconds.
For some reason the Mac won't handle or understand these Dual Layer DVDs.
I bought this Mac Pro about 4 months ago and it is the 2 x 2.66Ghz Dual Core Intel Xeon machine and the DVD drive (according to system profiler) is a Pioneer DVD-RW DVD-111D. In system profiler it says "Pioneer DVD-RW DVD-111D"
Can anyone tell me if this DVD player is actually capable of dual layer, or do I need to buy one.
In System Profiler under Revision it says: AB09 and under Protocol it says: ATAPI

If you have access to a pc into which you can install the 112, or if you have bootcamp, you can replace the Apple supplied firmware with Pioneer firmware. This should restore full functionality to the drive. I know have a mobile me account and so my apple id is switched from my email address. i am trying to update my apps but it won't let me as it won't recognize my new 'ID'. how can i fix this on my iphone?

Everytime I try to sign in it won't recognize the switch. I have updated all the proper information on my iphone, however, when updating apps it still shows my apple id as my email address and not the mobile me account address. I am not sure what else to do??? I have even sync'd my iphone and tried to do it through my pc, however, it says that it can't update (nothing to update). I have ten updates sitting on my iphone apps...What to do...what to do? Very confused.

Where are you trying to log in? You should be able to change your ID at http://appleid.apple.com - can you log in there?
Before you change your ID you should log out of the iTunes Store and on any devices which are logged into iCloud. Then once you've changed it you can log back in with the new ID. (Your iCloud synced data will disappear from the device when you do this but will reappear when you sign back in - give it time).
If you are unable to sign into http://appleid.apple.com you will need to contact Support. Go to http://iforgot.apple.com and sign in with your iCloud login. A new password will be sent to your associated email address. If this doesn't work you will have to contact Support. Go to https://getsupport.apple.com . My itunes won't recognize my new iphone 5.

I have a MacBook with Mac OS X 10.4.11 and an itunes 9.2. I tried to plug in my new iphone 5 into my itunes, but it only charges it and doesn't sync it or recognize it.

I bought a new iPhone and already have an Apple ID & Password & iTune account. When I plugged my new iPhone I kept getting a "AppleMobileDeviceHelper" error messages. They keep popping out. Plus iTune won't recognize my Apple ID (I don't want a new one, since it has the payment info and all). Anyone can help?

I recently set up this router at my house and so far it's been working great with the only issue being me having to push the router reset button everytime I turn on my computer after having stopped using the router for awhile.
Problem is that even if I am connected to the internet, itunes doesn't recognize my new connection and because of this it won't connect to the store/internet. I have found no setting to choose an internet.

Here's the test results...I took out my IP address because I can't help but feel that's not something I should pos ton the internet. Something I noticed before but forgot about was that if I click on the itunes store it actually loads the store...even though itunes says it can't connect.

iTunes store recognizes my new iMac as MacBook pro (2). I got rid of the MacBook. Also won't do auto sync with my ipad2. I have updated all store info on all devices. What can I do?

Link won't recognize my new Classic

Just picked up my new Classic today. As usual, ATT store had no idea it was even in today. Anyway, I can get Link to recognize the Classic. I was able to move my data over from my old 9900 but software won't recognize the Classic. Suggestions?

Check Windows Device Manager for yellow caution signs for any BB or Rim Drivers and try to update.
If the above does not help you should uninstall all drivers for BB or RIM listed in Device Manager, click View on the Menu in Device Manager then click Show hidden devices.
The drivers are usually found in these places, BlackBerry, Disk drives, DVD/CD, Modems (Standard modem only), Network Adapters, Ports.
Once all are uninstalled unplug your phone if it was plugged in and power OFF your computer (not restart), power ON your computer and wait 5 to 10 minutes before plugging in your phone.
Once you plugin your device wait another 10 min. before doing anything, BB software is slow and Windows is slow to recognize it so time is needed for drivers to install properly.
Even if Windows says drivers were installed still wait 10 min.

ITunes 9.2.1 won't recognize my new LG external burner

The Pioneer optical drive on my iMac 1.25 FP is dead. I bought a new LG HL-DT-DVDRAM GH24NS95 optical drive and it burns DVDs no problem but I cannot get iTunes 9.2.1 to recognize the new burner. What do I need to do to make it work? I tried Patchburn and that didn't do it--iTunes simply quits when I try to burn an audio or mp3 cd. I have also tried using BurnXfree and Dragon Burn. Suggestions? Solution? Help!!!!

Hey R.O., thanks for tolerating me. 15+ years of using Apple/Mac products exclusively and this is maybe the 3rd or 4th problem I've encountered. All were easily resolved. But, this iTunes issue....oy vey!
1. No LG firmware that I could find related to this problem.
2. I am able to burn an audio and/or mp3 cd using "Burn" and my new LG, and get this: it plays through iTunes when inserted into the LG--so, iTunes is recognizing it to a certain extent; could that be right?
3. No matter what (Pioneer internal drive or LG external drive), when I try to burn music from iTunes (9.2.1), it quits.
4. Is it possible that I'm incurring this issue because I have my iTunes app installed on my internal HD and the iTunes Library/Media on an external OWC Mercury 160GB drive (I have over 120GB of music stored there)? If so, that doesn't make sense becuase I've had the OWC external for years and have used a different external CD-RW (Toshiba?) to burn from iTunes previously with no issues at all.
5. No, I don't see any option/drop down menu in my iTunes to switch target drives when I try to burn; iTunes just quits "unexpectedly."

ICloud won't recognize my new password on MacBook Air

I recently changed my Apple ID password. My iPad and iPhone have accepted my new password, but I cannot enter new password into iCloud in system preferences on my MacBook Air. What am I doing wrong?

Is it possible that it could not change your password in iCloud because you were not logged into iCloud at the time when you changed your Apple ID password ?
If so did you try using your old password to access the iCloud and then sync everything up and then log off and back on to iCloud and see if it recognizes your new password ?

Help- MainStage won't recognize this new Alesis V49 usb keyboard.

My MainStage program will not recognize my new Alesis V49 midi keyboard. I installed the current Alesis Editor software (there is no driver) and Garageband recognizes the keyboard, but not MainStage. Just updated my Mac OS X to 10.9.5 and MainStage to 3.1.1-- what gives? Thanks!

actually, I went back to your original suggestion, and this time I blew on the conectors and that did it. I imagine it must have had some dust in the pins or something. I just did not think of doing that until last night, haha.
