My G5 can't read my iTunes library

Since I updated my I tunes yesterday, I can't open the application!!! when I try to open iTunes it says that the file iTunes Library cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes. I installed iTunes and the library two years ago!! How can i resolve this???

Smae issue here, but I'm unable to get Home Sharing started again (after MAc and iOS restarts, Home Sharing on/off. etc.) This happend a few weeks ago and turngin Home Sharing Off/On fixed the connection issue b/w iPad2 5.1 and iTunes 10.6.1 running on a OSX10.6.8.
I updated to iOS 5.1.1 on iPad2 today, watched a movie and then about 20 minutes into a 2nd movie I lost connection (Sharing tab in Video app disappeared and has not come back.) The update seems like the culprit, but odd it worked for over 2 hours before stopping, odd I can't get Sharing to work anymore (iTunes see's my iOS devices b/c I can conenct to iTunes to enter my passcod efor connecting the Remote app.) Appears to be an issue with iTunes broadcasting Home Sharing, even thougt it says it is on.

A belated reply, as the problems itunes has have discouraged me from using it much. If you uncheck the "read only" box, it doesn't stay that way! Next time you use it, the box comes up checked.
I'm still having that problem, even when I open iTunes as administrator.
I've yet to see the answer to this problem. I use itunes mostly to download audiobooks, and I'm ready to download more, and want to save them!

How can I share my iTunes library between me and my wife?
I do not want to set-up 2 seperate accounts on my mac. Do not want to do home sharing or anything like this.
I just would like to connect my iPad to ONE itunes library and at the same time connect my wifes iPad to the SAME itunes library. Can this be done? How? Thanks! Maybe the answer is something really easy like "just connect both to the computer and sync them".

That is all you need to do.
In the answer from Apple I do not find anything about how the 2 exisiting iTunes accounts will be handled.
They will be handled fine.
All purchases from both iTunes accounts can be sync'd to both/either iPads with no problem.

Devices can only sync to one library at a time. You can, however, have multiple copies of libraries on different computers though it can be tricky making sure they are always synchronized. You can put your Windows iTunes on your Mac.
Moving a library: Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings: Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its sub-folders and files) intact to the other drive. Hold down the option (alt) key (shift on Windows) and open iTunes. At the prompt to create or choose a library choose the copied iTunes folder.
When this is to a new computer put the copied iTunes folder in the default location of Macintosh HD > Users > *User Name* > Music then you don't even need to start with the option key held down, iTunes will automatically look for it there. (Make sure there isn't anything already in the iTunes folder there that you want to keep since you will be replacing it with the one you are moving.)

I want to share one library stores on my server and access it through various local computers. When I buy a song from a computer (non-server), I want it to be added to the library (stored on server). I want it to auto copy to my server, for organization. I want to be able to sync my phone from any computer.

You can authorize your iTunes account on up to 5 computers at a time.

Easy. Copy it from the old Mac to the new one.
There are a variety of techniques including Setup Assistant (as soon as you get your new MacBook Air, it will ask you if you want to transfer information from another computer), Migration Assistant (if you elect to transfer information later), enabling file sharing between the two computers, or copying your music to a flash drive or other storage device followed by importing it to iTunes.

I have almost 10,000 songs/cuts in my music collection and, because of the poor quality of iTunes music, very few of those songs/cuts come from iTunes. My music came from me ripping it disc by disc over hundreds of hours. I would like to be able to add a disc and have both the iMac AND the MacBook music files (plus an external backup) be updated. Surely there is an intelligent, relatively easy to implement procedure for doing this. Thank you Joe - I tried this but it's only showing a teensy amount of music - the stuff on the second users account as opposed to the giagntic library on the 'main' account. I actually went to a Genius Bar and they said that apple doesn't really want you to share music between accounts - parents don't want to hear their kids music etc. Which seemed strange, but it might be the case sadly Thanks anyway!
