My gallery  and icloud

I'M NOT HAPPY THAT I SWITCHED TO ICLOUD THINKING IT WAS GOING TO BE BETTER BUT THERE IS NO MORE GALLERY.
HOW CAN APPLE THINK THAT ICLOUD IS AN IMPROVEMENT TO MOBILE ME WHEN SO MANY OF US USED WITH SUCH EASE MY GALLERY???
I HOPE APPLE COMES UP WITH AN EASY SOLUTION REALLY SOON, EVEN IF I HAVE TO PAY FOR IT.
NOW I WISH I COULD GO BACK TO MOBILE ME.

We need to shout because Apple is not listening.  I have been a loyal Apple fan for 25 years and now they just turn their backs on us.  I would have been willing to pay twice the amount for Mobile Me.  And I can't stand these people talking about all the wonderful alternatives and alternatives and alternatives.  The very reason I came to Apple 25 years ago is now gone.  I don't want to shop the marketplace, learn FTP (don't even care what it stands for and never needed to know).   I just want to push that button and publish.  Truth is, I am a retired tech person - one who fought with PC people my whole life and convinced many of them to switch to Apple.  I am embarrassed now that the very reasons I got them to switch are being whittled away - and APPLE really don't have to do it.  Now on TV and the net we see all these greedy vendors trying to sell you replacements to Apple. If they can make a profit, so can APPLE.   I don't need ICLOUD.  I want galleries, IDISK, IWEB.  Without those, ICLOUD would only offer me SYNCED emails and I can use YAHOO mail for that.  So now I have to find space somewhere and buy it and learn how to upload to it.  I have to learn new web design tools that could also dissapear in a year or so.  I have to figure out what to use in place of Gallery - and I don't want to make my family sign up to some service like snapfish just for the privelege of seeing my photos.  I don't want them to have to pay to get a few photos.  I read someone who was ENRAGED.  I am right there with him.  Apple is making a mistake - they make one back in the 80's as well.  So now it's back to the wild wild west - a huge mess of products, vendors, procedures to replace one simple beautiful thing - Mobile Me.  They are wrong.  I am very hurt and upset.  And all the time and energy I will spend because of their decision will probably weigh on my future purchases.  I may still be here, but the excitement of buying all the latest products is gone.

I have a Photo Gallery app on my ipad to access all albums on my iMac.  With iCloud will I be able to access any album on my Mac on demand like I can now with Photo Gallery app?

                                    SHALL I CRY?
I thought that Apple and I were kind of like long-time partners and that our relationship was strong and friendly. My MobileMe Account says Member Since: Jan 6, 2000. I believed that Apple respected me and would continue to make my life better. Apple has helped me to be creative and let me show to family, friends and colleagues who I was plus I could freely express myself to other members of a great Apple community around the world.
But now Apple has decided to shut down the creative works we have built together in my Gallery and on my webpages, using the tools and the support that Apple provided, without even considering its impact to me or to the Apple community as a whole. Then Apple faithful from all over kindly asked Apple to correct this obvious mistake with their postings within the Apple Communities, Facebook and other social media.
                                  Apple didn’t reply.
Then Command Guru, an Italian software house specializing in Apple Apps, organized a petition and got more than 7500 Apple users from all around the world to raise the issue and identify the services that they didn’t want to lose. http://www.commandguru.com/blog/icloud_petition_1st_round
                          Apple didn't reply again.
I am all for change when change means progress. But I don't feel that flatly dropping long-term clients or kicking them in the face is positive change. No longer partner and supported, likeable and friendly Apple has become arrogant and that make me sad.
Apple has quickly become a huge company and young, arrogant MBA's are probably driving it forward. With Steve gone, I’m certain that Tim has had to make a very special effort just to keep that Apple spirit alive. The damage that has already been done to Apple’s image hasn’t even registered yet. It’s like a flashback to an earlier time, when Steve himself was driven from Apple by those who overlooked that spirit. Driven by greed, they never recognized that it was the spirit that made Apple so successful. Maybe it’s time for a refresher on
‘how to win friends and influence people’; the basics are all there.
                            Apple, save your spirit.

  • Aperture, Gallery and iCloud

I currently have a Ton of picture galleries out on my Mobile Me account.  Does anyone have a good suggestion with what to do with all those pictues with MobileMe going away ?    I mow there are plug-ins for iPhoto to ublish to various other sites like Flickr etc but I don't sees the same level of support for Aperture 3,
    Anyone ?
    TIA
    Peter

    Peter,
Kirby already pointed out the intergrated Flickr and Facebook support - I do not use those.
    I found this page by Roger Wilmuth very helpful;
    Migrating from Mobile Me:
    http://www.wilmut.webspace.virginmedia.com/notes/migrate/frommobileme3.html
also Old Toad's Tutorial on how to patch iWeb to work after MoMe will be gone: iWeb will still work after MobileMe's demise; you'll only loose the web host. So look for anoter hosting service.
    Modify the iWeb Application: http://oldtoadstutorials.net/No.26.html
I use Aperture's Smart Webpages to publish my Slideshows; these do not depend on MobileMe. You can publish your webpages to a folder on your disk. Then use FTP to upload the pages to any web host of your choice that offers FTP - I like to use Cyberduck for this.

It's possible to access iCloud email in the Mail application on Snow Leopard, Leopard or Tiger by setting it up manually:
Entering iCloud email settings manually in Snow Leopard or Leopard

Before updating my iphone 3G to iOS 5 all the photos i synced were lpaced in my photo gallery only. Know I have both Photo gallery and The folder I synced. Can somebody help me and tell me how can i have it the old way? if its applicable. Thank you

    Hi Urs
I searched a lot and maybe found a part of the reason for this high data traffic.
I'm synchronizing my contacts, calendar & reminder with iCloud & my mail with Hotmail.
When push is activated for Hotmail, that doesn't matter, but when push is activated for iCloud, the amount of data nearly explodes. So I turned iCloud to manual and let Hotmail on push.
Contacts, calendar & reminder are synchronizing when opened (I think this is enough).
Also I do a backup on iCloud and than I deactivate the function (I do not delete the last backup, I only deactivate the option for automatic backup).
It seems, that the backup functionality also generates traffic when not on WiFi - especially at night!!
The battery life has been getting better, when I deactivated the support for automatic time zone changes (location services were always on).
The battery finaly got MUCH BETTER since the update on iOS 5.0.1.
My traffic is actually higher than on iOS 4 but not so high as before I deactivated some services...
I hope this info is a little help for you!!
Let me know if this works for you, ok?
    Best regards,
    Wolfgang

  • Lion, Gallery, iPhoto, iCloud -- iConfused!

Hello all. I just upgraded my desktop to Lion and thus now cannot access Gallery any longer (though I can on my iPhone. Don't ask why 'cause I don't know why.) Gallery was so easy. And now, I can't figure out how to provide friends with a link to my photos/videos. I don't want to email them 20-30 pics or a whole video. I'd rather just upload the pics and email a link. Is that possible now with Lion and iCloud?

Go to iPhoto > Preferences > Accounts and delete MobileMe. Delete it in System Preferences > MobileMe because it doesn't work

  • HT4918 Can I move my Gallery to icloud

I am stumped.... Is it possible to move my "Iphoto" and most of all my "gallery" to icloud?  If so, how?
    Thank you.

Firstly, your profile states that you are using OS X 10.6.8, whereas iCloud requires OS X 10.7.2 or better. Unless you upgrade your operating system you will not be able to use iCloud.
Furthermore, iCloud does not offer equivalents to Mobile Me’s iDisk, Gallery or Web Hosting services. You will need to find a third party solution to replace these services. You might consider DropBox, SugarSync, MediaFire or any other service that offers online storage. (not all these alternatives offer all the services previously provided by iDisk)

  • Can I create a web gallery in iCloud?

Can I make a gallery in iCloud like I did on mobileme?
    Thanks

Yes - to a point. iCloud provides a simple gallery in the form of 'Photo Journal' - uploading of photos from iPhoto to web pages hosted on iCloud, but only from iOS devices and not so far from Macs; and the photos are compressed to a size adequate for online viewing but are not available in full resolution as with Gallery. Apple have provided a sample album here.
Apart from that you would need to find a third-party solution - this page examines some options:

  • FaceTime and iCloud must be signed in to the same Apple ID to use iPhone Cellular Calls.

FaceTime and iCloud must be signed in to the same Apple ID to use iPhone Cellular Calls.
This is the error message I receive when I try to add my phone to my Mac for proximity / FaceTime audio calling.  This feature worked until I changed my Apple ID.  I have updated my Apple ID everywhere I can think of updating it.  I've signed out of Apple ID on my Mac, deleted EVERYTHING (calendars, contacts, etc.), signed back in, etc.  I've done the same with my phone, and even done a power-down / reboot and nada.  I keep getting this message from the Mac.
I can't figure out where else I should look for my old Apple ID to be logged into anything or creating problems.  I've gone over my iPhone and Mac and I'm at a loss.  As an aside (and yes, wrong forum), have lost the ability to do SMS forwarding since the Mac no longer receives the code from my iPhone to allow this feature to work.  This was lost after signing out of the Apple ID on my Mac this afternoon.
Bluetooth is turned on for both devices.  Both devices are on the same WiFi network.  Both devices otherwise appear to be working correctly with the exception of the problems I'm having with FaceTime and iCloud being signed into the same Apple ID (which they are).
    Thanks in advance,

(By the way, I should have pointed out in my earlier posting that I'm running OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 on my Mac). I Just installed latest Yosemite update while my iPhone was switched off, and when my Mac restarted, the 'iPhone Cellular Calls' checkbox in the FaceTime preferences was checked and the problem was therefore solved. Switched on my iPhone, still fine. Relief.

  • We have multiple devices in our family.  On each iPad/iPhone each user has their own apple id for iMessage, Facetime and icloud, but we all sign in to the same apple id for itunes.  When one of my kids comments on my shared photostream, it shows my name??

    CREATE A NEW USER
Go to System Preferences --> Create a New User in Users & Groups
Decide on whether to setup as Admin or Standard User.
Switch to the New User by logging out under the Apple in the Menu Bar or use Fast User Switching
Fast User Switching allows other users to leave current applications and windows open. Depending on RAM, you might need to log out rather than use FUS.

  • I found My iPhone contacts on my friends Iphone we both have 4s! But we use the same apple ID and ICloud ID! How can undo what happened? all my private stuff is now on his phone!!! help me plz!!?

I found My iPhone contacts on my friends Iphone we both have 4s! But we use the same apple ID and ICloud ID! How can undo what happened? all my private stuff is now on his phone!!! help me plz!!?

Of course if you are both connected to the same iCloud account you have the same contacts - what did you expect?. The contacts live on the server and are read from there by the devices; so as you've both managed to sync your contacts up to iCloud they are now inextricably mixed. You can only delete your contacts by deleting individual ones, and doing that will delete them from your phone as well.
You can only unravel this by
    1. In the iCloud contacts page at http://icloud.com, select all the contacts, click on the cogwheel icon at bottom left and choose 'Export vCard'.
    2. Sign out of System Preferences>iCloud
    3. Create a new Apple ID and open a new iCloud account with it for your own use.
    4. Import the vCard back into the iCloud contacts page.
    5. Go to http://icloud.com and sign in with the original ID. This is now his ID. Work through the contacts individually deleting the ones you don't want him to have. When done sign out and advise him to change his password.
    6. Go to the new iCloud account and delete his contacts individually.
Of course if you have also been syncing calendars and using the same email address there are problems with doing this.

It is not possible to create a new iCloud account using a Windows machine. You must create the account using a Mac (10.7.5 or more) or an IOS device (iPhone etc). Once that is done you can sign into and use the account on your Windows machine.

  • Can't view camera photos in gallery and some other...

I need help here. Everything in my phone is missing. I accidentally lost all data after disconnecting from computer and how do i retrieve them back? Since then, whatever pictures i took doesnt appear in Gallery and all my PDF documents are still missing and movies that I've downloaded too. How? Ive tried restoring. Still nothing. But when i back up my phone using Nokia Link, the items i cant find on my phone are all backed-up. Whats going on?

Oh and by the way, Im using a Nokia N9.

  • Iphone 3gs and icloud lost 2/3 of my contacts for no reason, backed itself up on icloud, now they are gone.

    1) I have 3 iphone 3gs phones (2 16gb and 1 8gb) all updated to iOS 5.0.1.
    2) I added the 8Gb device to my itunes account and icloud this weekend and then I decided to make another itunes account for that phone and seperate it from the other 2 phones as it is used by another family member who does not need to be connected through icloud to the other 2 phones.
    3) When I did this it changed my old itunes account email address to a non-existent email address that was a strange combination of the two email addresses for which I have appleIDs with.
    4) I went back to itunes and fixed the appleId email address back to the correct address.
    5) Following this ordeal, 2/3 of the contacts vanished from my icloud account and phones. Never to be seen again since icloud does not back-up any contacts but mirrors them.
Therefore, since it backed-up to icloud prior to discovering the problem, I will need to manually recover over 100 contacts. If you need to restore from the iCloud back-up, how do you do it? You can set what you want to back-up and you can delete the back-up but you can not restore from the back-up in any obvious or easy way??? If it simply mirrors this information, then quit calling it a back-up... not true!  It would have changed how I set-up my phone in itunes... also, why would any contacts just disappear without notice or anything? Just vanished?  I assume when it backed-up to iCloud but it happened on the 2 phones connected to the same iCloud account, because they are synced with iCloud.  So I can sync to iCloud and back-up to my computer but then I have to deal with duplicated data on the phones which have limitted memory.
Another issue, a single instance of online support from apple is $29? Enough never to use apple product again.  They change the OS so often they should always carry free online support for these changes that are not associated with the purchase date of the phone.  Ridiculous! and discouraging... I found the same thing from HP support... If you can't put out a product that works longer than 1 year, then I won't buy your products anymore.  Apple has 90 days of complimentary support on products and a 1 year waranty? in this economy that is irresponsible and they have poor engineering if your dependable lifecycle is 1 year.  That's all they can guarantee? Based on the average american's income, they expect you to spend a large percentage of this on this kind of technology every year? Figure it out Apple.
Can anyone guide me through the propper way to use this crap without losing data.  I have not quite coped with the fact I have lost all of that data.  Horrible.
Thanks Apple for making my life more difficult

  • I have changed my apple email address and icloud is asking me to sign in under my old email then saying my password is incorrect how can i change it pls

I have changed my apple id but when i try to log into icloud etc it lists my old id therefore my password is wrong as there is no such account now, how do i change this to show my new id and get into my account

To change the iCloud ID you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iDevice, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use.
If you don't know the password for your old ID, or if it isn't accepted, and your old ID is an earlier version of your current ID, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.
