My girls were yelled at when FaceTime called wrong person
Face Time called someone else... Idk how or what happened.. I(mommy) uwas at work and getting ready to go home when my girls facetimed me.. I told them I was driving home so i'll see them soon, of course being 7 n 6, they facetimed me three more times waiting til I answered said love you and hung up.. Whatever.. So I see it ring once and then stop.. Ok??? So I try them and dad picks up screaming at me because some jerk just threatened them for accidentally getting the wrong person.. They are in tears, super upset.. Where's mom? Why can't our call go thru to mom? Who is this mean guy? And as freaked out as they were, I feel awful.. Dad tried face timing my number from his other ipad and it went to the guy.. And he yelled at him, asking if he realized he just threatened two little girls, who thought the cops were gonna really come and arrest them. :-(
so any suggestions on what else I can do to try to prevent this from happening again??
Obviously going through all accounts to double check they have the right info, explaining to the girls what happened, but can't obviously do anything about the jerk, so .. What now? :-(

How can I fix this?It might be a good idea to reset network settings & reboot your modem:
Open Settings->General->Reset->Reset Network settings. You will have to enter your wifi passwords again.
Also go to Settings->Safari->Clear History & a Website data. -
In FaceTime calls, other person's audio cuts when mine is sending (when I'm talking)...
I seem to remember a time when this wasn't the case... Maybe I'm misremembering?
In a FaceTime call, when I'm in the middle of speaking and the other side speaks, they can't be heard until I stop speaking.
I.e. Audio only goes one way at a time it seems.
This is extremely problematic in slightly noisy areas where there's some background traffic where I am having to mute my end everytime I finish saying something just so I can hear the other person at all.

Am I crazy, or didn't it used to allow me to use the headphones as well as the microphone at the same time?I have the exact same issue... I've been using a Jabra Extreme2 and just this weekend, bought a Plantronics Marque2 and today had the same issue, so it's clearly not the headset but the phone or OS.

Facetime calling wrong people since update IOS7
I was using Facetime to call my mother, on my phone and I didn't know that her new home phone wasn't an apple product. Instead of saying that this device doesn't support Facetime, it continued calling, I hung up. Moments later I had an angry phone call asking why I called this person and threatening to hand my identity to the police. I checked the number and it was definitely wasn't wrong. I had absolutely no idea who it was. Apple you really need to fix and address this problem. On the internet there are many problems like calling others through facetime, and not receiving the call and in fact another stranger or contact receiving it. This is awfully embarrassing!!
Same problem in Sweden from couple days I'm traying to call my mother on FaceTime audio and answering same guy from Sweden. I'm not you're mother stop calling me. My mother change iPhone 4s to iphone 6. I was calling from Apple ID to phone number. I heard from friends some stories aboute face time video problem but I was sceptic about it. Now I experiec that and is not funny. If that mistake is possible so what with credit card numbers if I had her in family on my apple id? iOS 8.1 iPhone 5s

When I Facetime my wife only her iPod rings and NOT he iPad. However she can answer the call on either device. Any comments are appreciated.

Because it's not something the phone can do. The carrier has to do it.

I have the New iPad. My friend and I were able to FaceTime. Now, I can call her but when she calls me s it says unavailable. There is a movie / camcorder icon on my contact for her but no icon no longer one on her contact for me...sorry, it is sounding convuluted. Any help would be appreciated.

My iPad 2 does not ring when receiving incoming FaceTime calls since updating iOS 8.1. iOS 8.1.1 has not helped this problem. I checked the settings to make sure Restrictions were off. I cannot find anyplace that turns sound notification for FaceTime on or off.
Any suggestions?
Thank youIn spite of the fact that you said you checked the settings, I still believe that you have system sounds muted.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the control center if you are running iOS 7. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to get to control center . Tap on the bell icon and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock can be accessed in the same manner as described above.

AS for your other issues, have you done any other troubleshooting like resetting your iPad, resetting all settings or doing a complete factory reset? -
My facetime doesnt work. If I call somone they see I call but when they accept it doesnt work and when they call me the green camera light turns on but no sound or pop up of the video chat screen appears, please help! Macbook pro user.
MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain LionI just wanted to follow this up by saying that you were entirely correct in your diagnosis of the situation. My computer did have the faulty part you linked to. I brought my laptop in and specifically told them to run that test, had it fail and then argued with the person at the genius bar and the manager. Eventually they offered to have it sent out and have everything replaced for free of charge. They did so mainly because I had complained about graphical issues almost every other time I had come in with problems and no one ran the test. They should have caught this problem during my warranty, but they didn't, even though I mentioned the problem.
Anyhow, after having the part replaced, I haven't had my computer crash a single time since, or had many of the issues mentioned above. I've never had this experience before. Even brand new, I got occasional crashes. Hopefully this new trend continues.
I do find that web browsing is still incredibly slow. Web browsers just chug along at a slow pace, even though I have great internet speed. Maybe I'll try just deleting my web browsers and reinstalling them...

Before ios8, facetime calls from my kids' ipods showed their names. Now when they call, it shows my name like I'm calling myself. Previously I had an issue where my texts were showing up on my family's ipods and ipads. That has been corrected...I'm wondering if this is similar.

Why is it that when I call my MIL with FaceTime I end up calling another person?
When I call my mother in law with FaceTime, I end up calling a total stranger. I use her number from my contacts and it is the right number, it works just fine if I make a regular phone call. Today, I called her and talked to her for some time and after a while we decided to switch to FaceTime. While on the phone with her, I pushed the FaceTime button on my screen, the call ended, FaceTime started and instead of my MIL it was a complete stranger that answered the call. What can I do to fix this problem?
Check to see if you have an old phone number associated with this person in your address book. When you call someone on Facetime it calls ALL numbers/emails associated with that persons contact sheet! This was my problem, this stranger has my husband's old phone number!

I have recently updated the operating system on my iPad. Now my alarm is silent and my FaceTime doesn't ring aloud when a call comes in. How do I fix this please?
Do you see a half moon icon in the upper right corner of the screen? If so, you have Do Not Disturb enabled. Settings>Do Not Disturb. Turn it off.

I just purchase my ipad2 2 days ago. yesterday, there was a sound. today there is no sound. there is a sound only in movies and you tube and music. but no sound on all apps and keyboards. I look it up and seems like ther are few that have this problem. I called walmart coz I bought it there and they told me that they have not heard that before but if I can't fix it, just return it and exchange it with anew one since I have 14 days to do that. I tried rebooting it and still won't work. Should I just restore it?

I have two IPhones and one IPad all with the same Apple ID. I can call facetime between the two IPhones, but I cannot call the IPAD from either of the IPhones and when I call my IPhone from the IPad it rings my wife's IPhone after briefly calling mine.
Each device needs a separate address. Use an email address (gmail.com) on the iPad.
