My Gmail app tab is not glowing when I receive new email

On Firefox 4, when I received new email my Gmail app tab would glow. Now when I have Firefox 5, it no longer works. Is it a setting issue or a version issue?

I have found this to be somewhat intermittent.
I often miss the first "new Message" that is sent, no matter which service it is with.
However after I have replied at least once I can bring other apps to the front and then I hear the Sound and the Notification appears.
As of yet I have not discovered though, a way to make it work first time every time like it should.

I opened Google Chat in a tab and pinned it as an App Tab, but the App Tab does not "glow" when new message arrives in Google Chat.

I am running Firefox 4.0.
I opened this page for Google Talk (http://talkgadget.google.com/talkgadget/client), signed in, and initiated a chat with one of my contacts.
Then, I pinned the tab (containing the above chat page) as an App Tab.
According to the documentation for Firefox 4, when the contents of an App Tab's page is changed, the corresponding tab is highlighted.
However, when a new chat message arrives in the Google Talk page (that corresponds to the pinned App Tab), the tab is not highlighted.
App Tab highlighting works for Gmail, and other web pages (i.e., when other web pages are pinned as App Tabs the corresponding tab is highlighted when the contents of the page changes), but App Tab highlighting does not work for the Google Talk page. Is this a bug in Firefox 4?

@cor-el: I think you are correct ... App Tabs do not glow when the content of the page changes (which would result in the tab "glowing" when a new Google Talk message arrived) ... but App Tabs only glow when the tab title changes.
I thought about writing a java script (to be used with greasemonkey) to change the tab title when a new message arrives in the Google Talk page .... but the Google Talk page looks like it's Adobe Flash.
I know that there is a "beep" when a chat message arrives, but I wanted some kind of visual notification (like the glowing App Tab) when a message arrives (because my computer is playing music and I don't hear the "beep" when a message arrives).
Any suggestions for getting a visual notification when new Google Talk chat message arrives?

Switches to email tab without being clicked when i recieve new email

I like to keep my email tab onscreen so I can look at email when it arrives. But now FF switches to that tab without being clicked. when I get new email.
How do I stop this very very aggravating issue? Can't type, cant even click, Nothing will work until the message is seen in "new mail". THEN I can switch back to the tab I'm using.
Also how do I have FF open Adobe reader to view PDFs . All I get is a blank background.

If Safe Mode solves the issue, the behavior will be related to an Add-on.
Just disable all of them and start activating one by one until you replicate the behavior. The last one that you have activated will be the one that is causing the behavior.

App tabs will not save. when close then open ff, the app tabs are gone. how do I save them?

Every time i set up some app tabs, they disappear when I close ff. So upon reopen, have to set them up again, just to disappear again when i close ff. I thought once setup, they stay until deleted. Am I wrong on this? If they are supposed to show up after closing, it is not working on my pc. Running windows xp service pack 3.

The add-on "app-tab initializer" 0.2 fixed it for me. You define your preferred app tabs and it opens them each time firefox is launched.

How do I make an app-tab if "pin as app tab" does not appear when i contol-click an existing tab?

When I control-click my existing tabs to create an app tab nothing giving me the option to create an app tab appears. It only says "reload tabs," "new tab," "new bookmark," and other general menu options. I want to know how to create an app tab if this is happening or if there is something I am not doing that I should be in order for it to work.

You can't make App Tabs in Firefox 3.6.x versions. 
You need to update to the latest Firefox 5.0.1 version to get App tabs.

Mail icon won't change when I receive new emails

I have 2 mail accounts on my 8530. I can still receive and send email from both accounts without
a problem. Now, however, when I receive email, neither icon changes to show that little red asterisk. What happened? Anyone know how to re-activate that notice/icon change?

Outlook 2013 not responding when creating a new email item in Windows 8

This issue occurs intermittently. No add-ins are running. No anti-virus programs are running. Outlook does not respond and it must be restarted. This issue also affects reply email items and forwarding email items as well.

Which type of email account are you using? POP3, IMAP or Exchange?
If you are using a POP3 email account with an Exchange server account configured in the same profile, this issue may happen because the
delivery folder selection is corrupt and you are referencing a nonexistent folder. To fix it, in Outlook 2013, click on the File tab >

When I receive emails why doesn't the mail icon on the bottom of the home page indicate I have mail. Only after I go into my mail do I find out I have mail. My Blackberry always indicated when I received new emails.

I was wondering if the mail icon on the bottom of the home screen ever indicates that I have mail. It isn't indicating and only after I open up my mail does it show that I have received emails. Is there any type of indicator that is supposed to be on the mail icon that shows I have mail? Thanks

Mail starts up wherever you last left it, or should do without any changing of settings.

App tabs are not saving nor highlighting when I get updates

When I restart Firefox, my app tabs sometimes saves, and sometimes they do not. Also I open a new window in a current session, my app tabs do not save between windows. I would expect them to be on every window I opened; otherwise, they'd really be no different from normal tabs.
Also, Firefox says that when an app tab updates, it will highlight. However, my hotmail app tab and my facebook app tab will not highlight no matter how many emails or facebook notifications I receive.

Is there a way to have the app tab save the page you pinned. For example, have it save my facebook wall and have it open my facebook wall when I restart firefox instead of having it load a friend's profile page?

The app tabs feature is still in a relatively early stage of development. The option to remember app tabs independently of sessions has not yet been implemented, but it will be part of the release version of Firefox 4.

After installing 4.0 yesterday I started experimenting with new features, including the app tabs. I closed some of the app tabs, though not all, and then as an experiment closed & reopened the browser.
Your specs say that:
All of the App Tabs you have set when you close Firefox will open as App Tabs when you start Firefox again.
This did happen for me. Neither the app tabs I had open when I closed the browser nor the ones I had closed were saved. It seems that maybe this feature is not behaving as expected? There appears to be no persistence with the app tabs.

Your System Details List shows the NoSquint extension, so you can check the zoom settings in that extension.

HT201269 The iPhone "Apps" Tab will not open in iTunes v11.1

I purchased the iPhone 5S yesterday and am running iOS 7.0.1. I restored my 5S from yesterday's backup of my 4S which was running iOS 6.1.2. The 5S restored fine but now when I open iTunes, click on the iPhone tab, I can open all the tabs with the exception of the "Apps " tab. Each time I click the Apps tab I get a popup that says an error occurred and iTunes needs to shut down (no error code to check). Clicking on the Music, Video, tabs, etc. all open with no issues; just the Apps tab does not function.
Is this a bug with iTunes v 11.1, and issue with iOS 7.0.1 or could it an app or two on my 5S affecting the Apps tab.
I have 135 apps installed and really do not want to install them one at a time.
Any help/suggestions are appreciated.

You can't have Newsstand hidden in a folder. If you do, move it to the homescreen then you will be able to access the Apps tab in iTunes 11.1. You can always move it to the folder afterwards.

Works fine for me, I can simulate your problem by improperly closing Firefox.
The correct way would be to close the windows you don't want and then to exit Firefox through the File ("'''Alt+F'''") menu then use '''Exit''' or '''Qui'''t depending on your system.
But '''I can simulate your problem''' by closing the good window with "X" in the upper right-corner first (the one with the app-tabs) and then close the other window by any means.
You restart Firefox and open a window, since you closed without app-tabs there are none so you just see a window with your home page.
Firefox has some things added to Firefox 4 and therefore in Firefox 5.

I am having the exact same problem. MacForums has been helping me, and I called Apple. After trying everyone's suggestions, and Apple's, no success.
My App Store app still says "incomplete or damaged." There is even a circle with a line through it on the icon. Apple said reinstall my Snow Leopard upgrade disc (not my original Leopard disc) and then run the Combo Update (like your suggestion). Did not work. I also updated the software from "Software Update". Rebooted.
I think this started after I replaced my hard drive with a SSD and moved the hard drive to where the DVD was. I wonder if the person above who had the same problem also installed a SSD?
Anyway, anymore ideas? Even Apple is stumped.
(In answer to the other post above, my Quicktime works fine.)

Just did some more reading. I was going by the icon in the dock. When I checked in Finder, there it was, fixed and brand new!! Thanks, anyway.
