My GT70 went crazy.. over 90% RAM?

Hey guys,
i dont know whats going on, but since the the last big update for Windows 8.1 my GT70 (0nd) is going to have a crazy RAM usage.. its over 90-94% after 2-3 hours. Mostly its google chrome, but even when i close chrome and theres no process in the task manager its still on 85-87% usage of RAM? Why is that? i have to reboot my laptop like 3-4 times per day.. and thats annoying.
Oh and btw. I cant even use "Core Temp" anymore on windows 8.1 .. because my whole laptop is freezing when i start this program.
Any help?
I installed all the drivers of course and all updates.
Thanks

Is Chrome the only software to do it? Update to the latest version or beta.
My Win8 did in the beginning this: on the desktop I had just GPU-Z open or MSI Afterburner set to logging. The memory used in the Task Manager did eventually creep up from about 30% to nearly 100% and then - poof. Playing some game with Afterburner on the background did stop after a while nagging about missing memory. After all kinds of software updates I haven't suffered about that behaviour anymore but can't be sure if it is totally fixed; now I'm on 8.1 with the latest update.

  • Yesterday, as today's deadline for filing tax returns approached, I was paralyzed by the inability to create new IRS PDF forms and to retrieve archived ones from a year ago. My computer went crazy. 24 hours later, I am still paralyzed. Can you help?

My computer went crazy yesterday on two occasions involving PDF documents. One dealt with attachments to an email from a bona fide corporation. The other dealt with IRS PDF forms & schedules needed for today's submission.
As both dealt with PDF and had nothing else in common, I suspected my PC had a virus. When I asked a local store technician, he agreed. I turned to Norton, which protects my PC from viruses, and after a few hours of really thorough searching, the computer was found to have no viruses.
Before describing what I call "crazy" computer behavior, you need to know that I have long had IE8 as my default browser but a few weeks ago switched to Mozilla Firefox because IE8 had beome incompatible with some websites from which I get information.
When I received the email from AT&T email service and clicked the first of four icons representing attachments, there was figuratively an explosion on my monitor: a series of new tabs, each called New Tab, burst onto the monitor--but no text or picture. The new tabs appeared faster than I coul kill them. I finally decided just to shut down the computer, hoping they would not reappear when I restarted. I was wrong. After 2 repeats, I decided to forget about the attachments and asked the sender to send them to me by regular mail.
That was no solution for my IRS PDFs. I wanted to complete filling in the various forms and schedules that I had begun months ago so that I could mail them today to the IRS (without having to copy them all in ink). When I tried to open the first one, BOOM. The same thing happened: the blizzard of New Tabs atop blank pages; my IRS form or schedule did not show up. Did the same shutdown/restart routine with the same results.
When I looked at the list of current forms that had to be completed, I noticed something very strange: the icons that began the listing of the documents' names were replaced one by one by Mozilla icons. When I moused over them, they said Firefox HTML. Why?
Starting the day today, I had the same experience. What's more, when I started to retrieve 2012 IRS PDFs from a year ago, the same New Tab tabs appeared and had to be killed, and Mozilla icons replaced whatever icon was there before.
Assuming that the problem arose with Adobe Reader's reading of the PDFs, I contacted Adobe but got no helpful phone number because PDFs are a free service and was directed to use this Forum to get help.
What do I have to do to (a) read and use PDFs in the normal way and (b) remove the Mozilla icon from those that have appeared on icon documents. If Mozilla is the source of the problem, shall I go back to IE8? (In my 80s, I want eventually to replace my old computer but for the time being I must continue using it. It will not take an IE9. Anther possible default browser would be Google Chrome, but I have unfavorable impressions of it because of its intrusiveness, loading my PC with stuff I do not need.
    Can you help?

The problem is absolutely not Reader. The problem is that FireFox has stepped in front of Reader and handles all the PDF stuff - wrongly in your case. FireFox is DESIGNED to take over PDF files. But it is not capable of doing IRS forms!
To start with go back to IE for these forms. When you save them to disk DO NOT DOUBLE CLICK ON THEM until this is fixed. Just open the in the normal way - start Adobe Reader and use Open from the File menu.

  • Netbeans 6.1 went crazy after updating

This is driving me crazy (too).
After updating Netbeans 6.1 went crazy and doesnt stop opening itself everytime I close it.
In other words "*Everytime I Exit Netbeans it opens itself again, then I close it and it opens itself again...*"
Anybody can help on that? (I dont know exactly where to ask about this).
    Thanks

Just uninstall it, and do a clean install of 6.1

  • How to play Netflix on my Imac G5, it has Safari and Firefox 3, and over 1gb Ram and Mac OS X 10.4.11

How to play Netflix on my Imac G5, it has Safari and Firefox 3, and over 1gb Ram and Mac OS X 10.4.11

You referenced that you had a iMac G5 model?
G5's are PowerPC CPUs and not Intel CPUs.
The Microsoft Silverlight software works with Intel chip Macs only.
And, if I am not mistaken, the software requires OS X 10.5.8 Leopard or greater to install.
So, you need both an Intel Mac with, at least, OS X 10.5.8 as minimum requirements.
Netflix will still not work on your Mac.
    FYI.

  • My mouse went crazy - really it was possessed . . .

anyway, I was looking for something on my harddrive and my mouse was highlighting stuff randomly and it moved stuff from one application to others willy nilly. I think it moved something major because when I went to retreive emails using Entourage, everything was gone and it was asking me if I wanted to run the set up assistant or whatever the thing is called that gets you started.
Here's my question, is there any way that go back and so that my system is restored to before the time my mouse went crazy? Please someone say there is.

    Hello aarbelle
    Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
Sorry no one has come to your Aid but not sure what could be the problem accept for a mouse that is dying!
You stated that you cleaned out the lens and that's about all you can do.
Even though you cleaned the lens double check that there is not a hair or small piece of lint stuck between the plastic and blocking the laser.
You might try to take the batteries out let it sit a minute and then put them back in.
    And reboot your Mac!

  • Iphone5 touch screen lost control and went crazy itself

I had my iphone5 for two weeks. The 2nd day after I had it I started to feel sometimes my touch screen commands were not very responsive. The 3rd day when I was using it with Safari, I totally lost control with the phone. Touch screen commands generated itself. The phone zoomed in automatically, keyboard poped out and started inputing itself with "," , "1", etc. I went to home screen, apps randomly launched itself and the pull down menu kept pulling itself half way. I had turned off and on the phone and the same things still happening. Ended up I restored my phone and it was ok initially. But everyday I felt the non-responsiveness getting more severe and eventually the phone started to go crazy from time to time for a brief moment. Today it completely lost control same as the first time it happened again. I restored it immdiately with itunes and on the initial configuration screen, I cannot even input the wifi password as it input itselfs with random numbers. I can certainly take it to apple store but it seems the problem is intermittant.
Anyone with iphone 5 have similar problem?

I had the same issue with my iPhone 4S. When I kept my finger on the touch screen to scroll, the content was jumping up and down. Sometimes I could hold my finger 3mm above the screen and it activated wildly buttons. In short the touch function has gone crazy. The Apple support could not help.
I suspected that it comes from an over sensitivity.
I put then a screen protection film on (which reduces the sensitivity) and the problem disappeared.

  • ITunes eating up over 1GB ram with Cover View

I noticed that as I scroll through my album views, the amount of ram that iTunes uses keeps increasing. It went from 54MB to over 1GB, could this be a bug, or is it demanding to view covers?
    1GB seems a little excessive.

  • P7N SLI Platinum Unstable with over 2GB ram and/or dual channel memory on.

Hello need some help or to report something to MSI regarding blue screens, freezes when booting Vista 64 (SP1 + all fixes installed) with more then 2GB ram.  Single channel mode works (either 1 stick of 2 GB or 3 sticks of 2GB) and is rock stable.  Booting with 2 x 2 or 4 x 2 yields instability and blue screens.
I read over Microsoft's hotfix KB929777 however it appears this patch was applied during SP1. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929777 - when I attempted to apply this hotfix I got the message this update does not apply to your system.
Memory tested in other gaming system using 4 sticks of G.Skill 1066 DDR2 ram and still have the same issues.  Other forums like Evga.com, Tom's hardware and 411overkill.com tend to suggest some problem with this new bios version 2.0, written by Nvidia.  Some others mention possibly an Nvidia nforce driver issue.
Therefore, under duress during testing - with 1 stick or 3 sticks of ram, all tests perfect and passes all stability tests, good marks in Sandra, plays any game.  With 2 or 4 sticks of ram, very unstable won't stay up but for seconds.
Any ideas?  (Tested 7 ways until Sunday!)
My other rig, rocks solid and stable with Vista 64....  It's the Evga new mainboard 780i with triple SLI (132-CK-NF78-A1), 8gb of Gskill 1066ddr2, MSI 8800GT (x2 sli mode) Q6600 @ 3.2 ghz - Raid 0 on dual WD caviar 640 gb/sata 3.0gb/sec.  Seasonic 700w p/s.  8gb of memory and not a hiccup.  Ram 2.0 volts, cpu @ 1.36v.  Will handle the memory from both systems with out fault.
Considering I can swap memory back and forth and confirm it's not the sticks, swap graphics boards (own 3 of them!) and rule out that....
    Fyi.  Any help is appreciated!

Dump question, but have you pickup the correct update e.g. for 64bit? ==> http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=91672C7C-614B-404C-850C-377541E93C18&displaylang=en
"This comes inside SP1 for vista 64, as noted with my other system during the build. "
    Better double check it.
Install all four memory sticks and do a memory check with >>Memtest86<< 1st, ensure that no error(s) will comes during testing.
    Also how about that?:
Quote from: BOSSKILLER on 07-April-08, 23:55:36
Remove your OC then see how its goes.
"When the system boots in single channel mode (only 2 or 6gb of ram meaning 1 or 3 sticks installed into the 4 slots) its' rock stable.  When it boots into dual channel mode (2 x 2 sticks or 2 x 4 sticks) extemely unstable. "
That means, timings are too tight, or they need a bit more vcore help, or some of the memory stick has failure.
    "MSI P7N SLI Platinum - MS-7380 - Bios 2.0 on Vista Ultimate 64-bit - all updated."
That BIOS is not for your board, you should use 1.xx

  • Help! IMovie 11 went crazy on me & stopped working.

So, I've been working on a project on IMovie 11' since November w/ music & clips I downloaded from YouTube. I was more than half way finished with it, it was perfect & all of the sudden, it went nuts on me. The first thing that happened is an entire event folder of video footage greyed out - I assumed it was because I had over 10 hrs worth of clips & it was too full, so I moved some to another folder & it worked - all the clips came back & I could see them in the project.
The next time I opened the program, it was saying "Optimizing Video" & loading something. Then, it wouldn't even let me playback the project, edit or add anything to it. The thumbnails were still in the project & all the clips played within the event folders, showing the orange line indicating what was in the project ... but when I try to playback the project, it's just a grey screen & plays random audio from another one of my video projects.
I even tried exporting the movie & saving it to my computer - when I played it, it was a totally different video project!
None of my other video projects will play either, it only plays the audio & shows the grey screen. ALL the clips play in the event folders, so I don't understand why my projects won't playback.
Anybody have any idea what's going on here? It's really not letting me do anything & I'm really upset because I've worked so hard on this If anybody knows the problem or how I can fix it, I really appreciate the help!
If I have to, I might have to redownload IMovie & start over. I know there is a new version of IMovie, but if I update will I be able to get all my old projects & do you think they will work?
    Thanks!

@iphonejunky : Perian was installed by a pref.pane I needed to watch trailer in HD with Front Row on my MacBook.
The installation was automated so I didn't check the version on Perian after installing the pref.pane.
Anyway, i don't use Front Row anymore to watch trailer because I recently bought a Apple TV 2.
FYI, Here is a link to the pref.pane in question

Another important information : Perian was in "my account/library" because I choose the "only for me" installation but maybe it could be a good idea to check in "/macintosh hd/library/quicktime" in case of "all users on this computer" installation

  • Screen went crazy, then black - now iBook won't boot up. Help?

So, my iBook has problems. therefore I have problems. I was spoiled and grew up using macs as well as having a computer obsessed father who kept everything running smoothly... unfortunately I never took the opportunity to learn from him. So now I'm lost.
Problem started yesterday, screen went all vertical lines and flickered on and off. Rebooted, got to the login screen, same thing again. Rebooted, chime and grey screen. Reset PRAM, same thing. Started up off install disc, alllllllmost started all the way up... then colored lines, black. Reset PMU, still black, no chime now, just fan/ optical drive noise. Got frustrated, left it alone for a while, tried again and it worked!
THEN this morning in the middle of chatting, colored lines and black. Rebooted, just chime. Reset PMU, rebooted, and it worked!
THEN this afternoon... colored lines/ black. repeated above steps, but no luck. Currently all I get is a black screen and fan noise, no chime.
My iBook was bought July 2005, so it's just over a year old.
I'm not a computer whiz at ALL... but from things I've read in these discussions it sounds like it could be a logic board issue?
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated... I'm a broke college student

So, I suppose you've checked the link on the support page
http://www.apple.com/support/ in the lower right where you
can key in the computer's serial number, to see if you have
any AppleCare original coverage left...? The deal there is
with the extended optional policy, you get Support by phone
as well as Service repairs, for a combined period of up to
three years, total; including the first year's coverage.
If it is the matter of a few days, you could spring for the call
to AppleCare (pay per incident, out of warranty) and see if
you can get your issue covered, even though you probably
have lapsed official coverage. Sometimes sales support is
a way to go; other times, if you can get an AppleCare super-
visor; if you can point (hindsight?) to an issue that may have
grown into this current failure, that you were unfamilar with,
that now shows as a probable hardware failure... they may
be able to have the computer checked over anyway.
Out of warranty repairs are often expensive on compact and
portable computers where the parts are very hard to get into.
To get the computer tested and so on would cost you money.
If it cannot be booted from the included Apple Hardware Test
on the included media disc, someone else will have to do it.
Can your parents help you get a refurbished iBook G4 1.33 12"
from the Certified page online? Then, get AppleCare w/ in 11 mo?
These are less expensive machines than the MacBook on budget
and are significant in value as Certified units direct from Apple.
PS: I've owned only a few newer Macs; the total however is a
bit over 100 of them. At one time, I had over 40 in a room and
all of them worked very well; I restored them, & gave them away.

  • IBook went crazy - please help!

    Hey,
I was just downstairs surfing the 'net when all of a sudden my iBook went flooey. The screen went black, and then red, green, white, blue (I'm not sure of the exact order of colors). I tried holding down the power button to force it to restart, but that didn't work. I had to unplug it and take the battery out to get it to stop. When I tried restarting, I got the same funky screens. Oh, and now the fan is going like crazy.
    What happened??
I have AppleCare, but I'm still hoping this something I can fix myself with appropriate software. I hate parting with my iBook while it's getting fixed!
    Thanks in advance!
ETA: I just realized that the iBook wasn't shut down despite me taking the battery out and putting it back in. So I took it out and the fan has stopped.

  • My MBP screen went crazy. Then I rebooted and it was fine.

    Setup:
    MacBook Pro (Late 2011 version)
    OS X 10.9.4
External power connected via Apple AC adapter
    Device Connections:
    - Display Port: 24" L-Inc monitor, via VGA adapter
    - USB:
         Port 1: Apple external keyboard
Port 2: 4-port USB hub with the following attached:
              Lilliput 7" mini-monitor (using 2 USB connections)
              Lenovo wireless mouse
              External hard drive
I was working on some code in TextWrangler, and as I was using Shift+up arrow to select some text (something I have done thousands of times before without incident), my external 24" monitor went completely blank, my Lilliput displayed a frozen desktop, and my MBP display showed blue with slightly darker blue vertical gradient lines.
After a few seconds ensuring that the computer was well and truly locked up and not accepting any input, I performed a hard reset on my computer.
When I performed the hard reset, the initial startup screen, which usually displays the Apple logo in the middle, looked like this:
The horizontal lines on the screen were actually on the screen; they're not an artifact from the photograph. The image in the center—which appeared to be the Apple logo, albeit highly distorted—was also flickering.
After a minute or two of that, the screen went completely gray and didn't do anything for about ten minutes. I heard no hard drive action either, but the cooling fan turned on after a couple of minutes.
So I performed another hard reset.
This time, the initial startup screen looked completely normal, and the computer booted up like it usually does. Thus far I have noticed no additional problems.
However, I'm concerned that the problem could recur, and it would be good to have some idea of what's going on so that if it's a problem I can fix without needing to take the computer in to the Genius Bar and lose the use of it for a week or more, I can just go ahead and take care of it. (I'm not overly concerned about data loss, as I am regularly backing up to an external HD through Time Machine, but would like my hardware to continue working for obvious reasons.)
Has anyone noticed symptoms like these before?

Reset the PRAM >  About NVRAM and PRAM
If that doesn't help, run the Apple Hardware Test >  Using Apple Hardware Test
It could be the graphics card which is not something you should try and repair or replace yourself as that may do more harm than good.

  • My Macbook Pro went crazy and now won't turn on!

My macbook pro (that is barely 1 year old) wont turn on - I take very good care of it and it has been functioning perfectly fine. I uploaded some pictures to my laptop (which already has thousands of pictures) and my laptop started lagging and freezing and eventually just randomly turned off. After trying to turn it back on it wasnt responding so I left it over night. The next day I turned it back on and it loaded my desktop picture but none of my desktop icons were visible and not even the top bar or the scrolly bar and the spinning rainbow ball was there for half an hour. After a while I tried restarting - didnt work, tried closing the lid and opening it and the top bar appeared after a while but still nothing else. I tried starting it in safe mode and my desktop image was gone but the desktop icons slowly appeared and it was apparent that everything was there and nothing was lost - but I couldnt open anything because it kept freezing and then after half an hour returned to idleness and had not opened anything. After finally leaving it I decided to restart it one last time and it switched off after freezing for another half an hour but now when I try to turn it on (in anyway) it loads the light blue background with the apple and the spinning loading icon thing - and after 10 minutes just switches off - refuses to turn on at all... what to do? The battery is fine, it had been charging fine and my laptop is given to me by my university which means if I mess it up (or people who think they know what they're doing in the apple store mess it up) I have to pay. As of now I am on vacation and really need to use it but dont know what to do right now. Help?

Try running Repair Disk: Boot from install disc (insert disc>restart>immediately hold down c key and keep holding it until you see “Preparing Installation”)>at first screen select the language and click Continue> click on the Utilities Menu in the menu bar>open Disk Utility>select your HD in the panel on the left side>click Repair Disk at bottom of main window. Run this at least twice, and keep running it until it says “appears ok” twice in a row. If that doesn’t happen, you may need a stronger utility such as DiskWarrior or if the directory is damaged beyond repair, you may need to reinstall the OS, or you may have a damaged HD (repair utilities can only repair the directory structure, not the HD itself).

  • HELP MY IPOD WENT CRAZY

Hi i just recently bought a 30gb 5th Gen pod, and have been enjoying it, up until today, when during an update, my computer froze, and it absolutely wiped the ipod clean of all my music!! I had stuff on there that wasn't on my computer, and now i've lost it all. Can anyone tell me why this happened, and whether or not i should be worried that it might happen again?
Oh also since then, it won't let me play the music from my ipod through my computer - is there a way to resolve this too?!
    ARGGG this is so frustrating!!

I got a mini a couple of x-mas's ago and in about 6 months its screen went bananas. We restored it several times and tried all sort of the suggestions on the troubleshooting sites, etc., but to no avail. I had to return it. They sent me another last fall, and now this one is actin' a fool, too. I'm doing the 5 R's and all, but no good, and I haven't received any help since I've posted questions on here... I think this model is just funky. I love the software and the convenience of the mini itself, but I think I'm going to have to return this one too, and that's two times too many!
