MI have managed to transfer my purchases but thats it any ideas pleasey drive went and i now have a new hard drive when i try and synch my ipad itunes tells me it will wipe out all my stuff on the ipad i reall want to transfer it to my new library as it took me hours to get it into the original library burning from Vynl and CD

Depending on the definition of "broke" you might still be able to recover data from it if you can mount it in an external drive bay. Failing that...
You should be able to:
Backup the device to the new installation
Transfer your purchases into a newly authorized library
Recover any other media using third party tools as suggested in this post from forum regular Zevoneer
Restore the device from the backup
This process should switch the association of the device to the new library, preserving the data and settings in your apps.
May also be prudent to attempt a backup to iCloud directly from the device before you start... Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > iCloud Backup > On. It won't save any media but it would preserve the general account settings and documents in case anything goes wrong while you are trying to extract your other data.
When you get it all fixed, make a backup!

I would always import all my photos from iphone and ipad 2 onto my laptop (windows). My hard drive crashed and I previously had stored a back up of the photos on a flash drive. But I needed the flash drive to install the one time Windows recovery install so I had to delete and reformat the flash drive. Is there any way to be able to get the photos back? Either off flash drive if I copy contents of windows recovery onto a new flash drive or from an icloud back up? I can't go the easy route and see all my back up son Windows becsuse this is a new hard drive. Thanks for the help. Also, the ipad 2 has been stolen so I can't use that one but is bought a new Ipad 2.

Obviously by my sign-on I am not on the Cloud - but if you are backing up to it - you may be able to get your photos back - depending on the type of backup and the amount of data kept.
I have two external back up drives - time machine and one for a full backup of my library. Also have burned photos on DVD & have them two places.
Once you go digital on pictures - no hard copy - you have to consider multiple backups.

Thanks, but ringtones not purchased from iTunes, created them just before computer crashed.just before the next scheduled biweekly backup.
I found and downloaded TouchCopy 12 for PC and was able to copy the ringtones from my iPhone to my Windows laptop very easily. It also enables you to transfer photos, memos, voice messages, etc.

The simplest solution would to restore from your back up - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4112
If you do not have a back, you can select first track on list in song view, from menu > edit > select all. Next ctrl+click and select download from pop up. You may wish to do this in small batches as it will take some time to download.

Yes, there are downloads available. You should check you Adobe account online as there might be links provided there. Your serial numbers will be needed for activation, and they might also be found there.

Since you lost the installation(s) without deactivating them first you probably should contact Adobe Support thru chat and ask them to reset your activations so that you have the two available to you in case you want to have a backup installation on another machine. Downloaded program. Hard drive failed and program lost. Any way to retrieve it?

I purchased my iMac in Dec. of '07 and purchased iWork shortly thereafter by download. Unfortunately my hard drive failed and I didn't have a backup so I lost not only my iWork but also my Snow Leopard update. Is there any way to retrieve these (especially iWork) without having to purchase them again? I haven't had any luck getting through to Apple support.

I you purchased iWork "shortly after" your Mac purchase, there was no app store; the only way you could have bought it was as a retail disk or, if there was a trial version on your Mac, you might have purchased a registration number. If the former is the case, you should have the disk; if it's the latter, I'd suggest calling Apple to see if something can be done.
And: your next purchase should be an external hard drive so you can make a backup.

First in iTunes preferences check the box for prevent automatic syncing when a device is connected.
They connect your iPod to the computer and transfer iTunes purchases to the computer. See:

Then right click on the iPad listed under Devices in the left hand side and click on "Back Up". After backup is complete I think you will have to restore the iPad from backup to complete the process of using your iPad to the "new" computer.

You can re-download everything you already bought, if you remember what it was, and you won't have to pay again. This assumes the music you purchased is still available for download.
Other than iCloud backup, which does not store your non-iTunes purchased music anyway, that is all there is.

If your harddrive ever crashes again, and you connect your iPod to that empty iTunes library, or your PC crashes and your iPod starts acting up you will be screwed if you don't have a backup

Depending on whether you saved your files to DVD in folders or just as a group of files, put the DVD into your computer, open iTunes and go to Add folder to Library or Add File to Library. Navigate to the DVD and add your files back into iTunes: About the Add to Library, Import and Convert functions

By any chance do you have McAfee ActiveScan or any other disk scanning software installed on on your PC? If so try switching it off before you eject.
