My headphone jack seems o have a short can only hear on side in my earbuds

My i-pod 5th gen seems to have a short it the headphone jack. I can hear one side fine but the other side has much lower volume. I can "jiggle the jack" and sometimes this will help, Anyone know how or where to get this fixed??

That's usually a very good indication that the headphone jack is damaged and in need or replacement. You can choose to have Apple exchange the iPod for a flat price or send it to a third party repair company to have them actually swap out the headphone jack for a little one at a lower cost.

TS3474 My earphone jack seems to have a short in it.

The music only partially comes through. If I pinch the ipod near the sleep button, it plays well. Does anyone else have this problem? I took it to a local Apple store twice, and co one could figure it out. I reset the ipod and that didn't work.

Apple will only replace your iPod with a refurbished iPod. If not under warranty, here is the price.

There are third-party places that will be less expensive if not under warranty. If you are capible you can alsways replace the jack yourself. Hee is one company that will either replace the jack or sell you a replacement jack with instructions.

- Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
- Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.

i can only hear sounds on my ipod touch through my headphones

first try plugging and unplugging your headphones at least a dozen times really fast because somtimes the headphone jack sometimes has debris in it. i used to have the same problem.
if that doesnt work restore it back to factory defaults by going to the setting icon then go to the general bar, after that scroll al the way to the bottom and click reset, then click reset all settings after that if it still wont work do the same thing accept click on erase all content and settings

Back it up in iTunes! Just make a backup of the entire device but make sure you check sync contacts and the option to add contacts from phone to address book on computer.

When you import them into your Premiere Elements project, what does Premiere Elements Properties for that import give for
the audio description in the way of number of channels? If you open the Audio Meter (Window Menu/Audio Meters) and you play back
the video in the Premiere Elements Editor, how many channels does the Audio Meter display?
I just drag and drop video and when playing back only channel 1 will appear

I think you can only use audio if it's recorded on channel 1 or it does not recognize it.

It is intermittent, so we don't know exactly when it will reoccur. Absolutely no problem with data. The data speed is great.

I accidently got something in the headphone jack,does anyone have any suggestions?

Me and my friends were prank calling with my iPod touch, when her mom was coming down the stairs. We were WAY up past the time we were so post to go to bed, so I quickly ended the call, grabbed my headphones, and shoved the headphones into the headphone jack and jumped on the couch. After her mom went back upstairs we immediately went back to prank calling. But when I pulled the headphones out I broke the part that goes into the headphone jack, and now it's stuck in the headphone jack. Yeah typical stupid, 13 year old thing.

My iPod touch (3rd generation) has been going to voice control constantly and on top of that, I think my headphone jack is destroyed...what can I do?

My iPod is a 3rd generation used iPod I bought at Gamestop this past January. At first, it was working great, but roughly around August and September did it start it's annoying "voice control" thing along with it messing with the headphone jack. I think I destroyed the jack, and maybe have broken something inside after toying with it repeatedly to get it to work, but all my iPod is good for now is a paper weight and for the apps. I can't listen to a song with out it going to voice control, or the headphone jack fizzing in and out. I've gone through maybe three pairs of headphones trying to get it to work properly and headphones aren't the cheapest things ever. My ipod is up to date, I've had to reset it constantly, week after week it seems like, but nothing seems to fix the problem. I'm getting so infuriated, that I might just break down to purchase a new one, or to give up on it completely and revert back to the iPod nanos. At least those didn't give me any issues when I used it.

It is very likely the jack is causing the VC problem since VC uses the jack for input.

A can only hear volume when i use the headphones: no ringtones, no music, nothing without the headset. what did i do? it's a 48 hour old phone

I have done something to my volume. there is no sound unless i use headphones. I must have done something when using suri, but i don't know what. i have turned the phone on and off with no change. please help. the volume is up, and the slider for mute is not on.

I had a similar problem, I could only hear Siri when I was using headphones. Without headphones, I would call up Siri and I wouldn’t hear that “ding” nor would she audibly speak back her answer.
I found out that Siri has its own volume control. To access it, activate Siri and when the Siri microphone pops up, go ahead and adjust the Siri volume using the volume controls. I had my regular volume up pretty high but I had the Siri volume all the way down. This was driving me crazy, now it works fine.

Try cleaning out your headphone jack with compressed air and/or a tissue/cotton swab.
Try plugging your headphones in/out about 20 times.
