My headphones won't work on my laptop.

I want to use my headphones to watch things on my laptop but when i plug in my headphones, sound only comes from my laptops speaker. I've tried two pairs of headphones already, and it's the same for both pairs. Both pairs of headphones work perfectly on other devices. I have windows 7 on my laptop if that's any help.

Hi Izzy_N, welcome to the HP Forums. What is the model number of your notebook? Were both headsets 3.5mm connectors or USB connectors? If they are 3.5mm have you verified you are using the correct port?

  • Headphones won,t work in the front pa

    Hi all,
Sorry to disturb you again with this problem but I went through all the forums and even if tons of other people got the same problem, they never got any serious answer. So I'm trying again....
I own an Audigy 2 ZS card and my new headphones won't work in either green or pink connectors in the front of my computer case. I have no problem with speakers. My headphones work on other devices but no sound if I plug them in front of my computer.
Is there someone at Creative who can give us an answer to this problem? I bought my expensi've headphones only to play games on my computer, I would like them to work properly.
    Please help "me" (or "us")
    Thanks in advance.

    Well,
Thanks for your fast answer. But do you mean that these 2 jacks are totally useless? If so, I'm wondering why they are there. That makes no sense. These jacks are there for headphones and micro. And by headphones, I guess we are talking about any kind of headphones.
And I guessed that these jacks were not directly linked to the audio card but I was sure that the mother board was the link between these in-line and the audio card.
Anyway, my only question is: "How come they put these jacks there if they are not linked to the audio card?"
    Thanks

  • Headphone won't work with X-Fi Fatal1y I/O dr

<SPAN>I have a new Creative X-Fi Fatalty, and I can't get my <I><SPAN>headphones</I> to work when they are plugged into the <EM>headphone jack on the Fatalty's I/O front bay dri've</EM>. I'm playing music files using Windows Media player. Also, I tried other media players with the same results. The headphones work great when they are plugged into the X-Fi sound card port at the rear of computer, and they also work when plugged into a headphone jack that is included with the wired remote volume control that came with my Creative 5. speakers. I think I have everything set correctly. I've tried several settings to see if it made any difference. For example; mute speakers when headphones plugged in (on & off), make headphones the default speaker selection, tried the three different sound modes (gaming, entertainment, creation). I tried disabling the onboard sound and that didn't work. I've followed all of the troubleshooting guides provided by Creative and they failed to solve this issue. I read a lot of <EM>headphone not working posts</EM>, but couldn't find anything that sounded like it might work for me, or anything that I haven't already tried.<SPAN>

. Bad power connector to the Fatalty I/O dri've. If the I/O dri've had a function light on it, I would of know it wasn't getting power. But anyway, those little computer voltage testers made just for molex plugs and other plugs work great and helped me find this problem with my power connector.

  • My plug in speakers and headphones won't work in either headphone jacks

The headphone jack won't let my plug in speakers or headphone work. it will only let the built in speakers give out sound. i don't know if its broken or not.

Check the Audio Midi Setup Application in Applications -> Utilities.  Make sure it is set for 48kHz.  Higher frequencies frequently make audio unplayable.   Some of the older updates would change the default frequency.

    dan

On my computer plugging the headphones in disables the speaker, ergo your computer is not seeing your headphones. Are you sure they are working? Have you tried them on another device? Have you tried rebooting your computer, running [Disk Utility to repair permissions and verify drive|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214]?

  • Videos won't work on my laptop!!!!!!!!?

I Have a dell studio laptop with Windows 7 install on it.
Few weeks ago sudently I couldn't watch any videos on any browsers installed on my laptop (Explorer, Firefox, Chrome).
When I open a page that contains a video the page don't respond anymore.
I checked that I had the lastest version of adobe flashplayer and adobe shockwave player, to be certain I redownloaded them.
    The videos still couln't work.
So I started to search for some answers on the internet but I couldn't find any.
So I lunch a system restore and all went back to normal.
Few weeks later the same problem appends so I did a system restore again.
At this point I tought it was a problem with the windows update but when after the system restore I reinstall the updates the problem didn't show off.
Finally today I was watching a video on my laptop (not on the internet) and the player crashed.
I went on youtube to see if I could watch videos and gest what I can't.
I can't even see the ads that shows up in the yahoo homepage.
I ready the make an other system restore but I want to get rid of this problem once and for all!!!!
    CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME

Hi tim, the first thing I would do is confirm that you have the correct Flash Player files installed.
Go to C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash. Post back all files listed. On the ones NPSWF32.dll and NPSWF32_FlashUtil.exe, right click on those two and check properties to get the version number.
Then you can check All add ons in IE and look for Shockwave Flash Object...ActiveX Control....Flash10e.ocx( vs 10.0.45.2)
    should be listed and Enabled.
In FF or other browsers look for SWF vs 10.0.45.2 and make sure it is listed and Enabled. Also be sure there is only one
    listing of the SWF.
    Thanks,

  • Headphones won't work with soundc

I have an Audigy2 Platinum. I have a Logitech headset/mic plugged into it. Everything worked fine. Then I reformat my hdd. I have the headset plugged into the back of my soundcard. The mic will work, but the headset doesn't. I also have a Li'vedri've. I can plug the headset into it and it works fine. I have plugged a different set of headphones into the back of the card and it didn't work either. I have installed all the latest softwate updates but still I get nothing. Any ideas what could be wrong? Thanks

I just had the same problem with a Skullcandy headset on my E73.  (Does yours also have the integrated microphone?)  I always saw the message "Accessory not supported".  Headsets, headphones, etc. aren't exactly USB devices, i.e. there's no plug-and-play happening, so I couldn't understand how the phone knew it wasn't supported before I tried playing music.  I am still not sure.  Either the conductors (the 4 metal bands) on the plugs of official Nokia products have special lengths, or the phone does an impedance/resistance check on the thing you've plugged in, and compares it to known values.  I would still like to figure this out, but the moral for you is that I doubt that Skullcandy headset will ever work.   I don't know which country you live in, and my E73 uses a 3.5" plug, but I was able to get a Nokia OEM headset from EBay US for $8, shipping included.  Stick to "Nokia compatible" headsets so you know it will work, even if that means using mail order.

  • IPhone 4 bluetooth and headphones won't work.

When I connect to bluetooth or headphone jack. The music/sound plays through my iPhone speakers. I've tried with Bluetooth headsets and speakers. Also with an aux cord and headphones. It just started recently with the latest iOS 7.1.2 update. I will be downgrading my software to see if that works. Couldn't figure out what what going wrong.

Figured out that, with the update, the new pull up menu has a place to change where the sound plays through. It loaded it as default to the phone. All I had to do was change it. Whoops.

  • I downloaded some songs to my ipod touch 5G and now headphones won't work properly.

So I bought some songs from Jessie J a couple of months ago and today I completed the album. After all the songs had downloaded I tried listening to them through my headphones, but no sound was coming through. I can get some sound if I twist them around, but the sound is not consistent. This is not happening with just the new songs, but old songs and other apps. Sound is working fine without the headphones plugged in.  I have no problems like this before but the headphones are relatively new as I lost my previous pair. My ipod touch is about 5 months old.
What can be done to fix this? Any help or suggestions is appreciated.

First confirm there is not a problem with the headphones
    Then
    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
If not under warranty Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for this price. They do not fix yours.
    Apple - iPod Repair price
A third-party place like the following will replace the jack for less. Google for more.

    Replace the jack yourself

  • My own headphones won't work with the iPod?

I have a pair of Sony Psyc headphones [http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/sr=1-3/qid=1136948303/ref=sr13/602-4413487-1679852?%5Fencoding=UTF8&asin=B0007N55P0], and they're 3.5 mm stereo headphones, but only the right headphone works, and the left headphone has no sound at all.
This means that the iPod has a mono signal or that the headphones are not recieving the stereo signal.
    Any way to fix this?

I feel stoopid!!! Yes, it does require a much more significant "push" than I was expecting. Thank you much for your help as well as yours Stedman1!!!

You may want to take a look at the article below.

    Compatibility with other Bluetooth accessories
Bluetooth support on Apple TV is for keyboards only. Headsets, speakers, and other devices are not supported.
If you are having difficultly connecting or using a third-party Bluetooth keyboard, contact the manufacturer to verify that it is compatible with Apple products and Apple TV.
