  • My mic won't work on any applications. What do I do?

Ok. So whenever I skype call someone, My mic won't work! So I have to type in the skype chat while they talk. Kind of embarrising. Also, I need to make some screen and audio recordings on QuickTime Player. So I try to talk. Play back the audio recording. And no sounds! How do I get my mic to work?
Info on my computer: I run on Mac OSX Mountain Lion.

So do you have your internal microphone set as the input? Go to System Preferences > Sound > Input
And on Skype > Preferences, is this what you have set in Audio:

my mic won't work on my webcam? HELP!

OK, well you could try the "Macam" driver from here:
    http://webcam-osx.sourceforge.net/
...it supports lots of webcams - including some generic no-name ones from Staples!
Also: does the webcam ONLY have a USB cable? No 3.5mm minijack plug as well?
    What application are you trying?
If Skype... under the Skype Preferences menu, audio-visual tab: are there any choices on the microphone drop-down menu?
Under the Apple Menu: System Preferences: Sound - Input - are there any choices shown?

  • External mic won;t work

imovie won't record voice over using my
Plantonics USB mic. It worked on my last project
several months ago I've checked prefs and its selected

Hi Terry - just guessing but are you trying to record while the movie is playing? It won't do that. You must record while the play-back is stationary.

  • Headset Mic No Longer Working

As of a few days ago, the microphone on my iPhone headset stopped working. I've tried it on my wife's 3G and it works fine and I also purchased a new headset that isn't working, so it's not the mic or the headset apparently. any thoughts on what the issue might be?

    Hi,
Make sure there isn't any debris in the headphone jack, as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2802#faq25
If the issue persists after trying the tips in the article, the iPhone will likely need service. You can setup service by making a reservation with a Genius online here: http://www.apple.com/retail/geniusbar/ or by calling U.S. iPhone technical support at: 1-800-MY-IPHONE (1-800-694-7466)

  • Mic won't work with Skype on Windows installed using BootCamp Assistant?

I recently purchased a 17" MacBook Pro in Australia. I installed Windows 7 Ultimate and updates as well using BootCamp Assistant. Everything works fine in Windows except when I downloaded and logged in to Skype and video-called one of my friends.
I could see my friend and he could see me, but we couldn't hear each other. I beleive there is a problem with the built-in mic, which Windows doesn't recognize or doesn't have the driver for it installed. If it's a driver problem, can anyone tell me which specific driver to download? It'd make things so much easier!
    Please help!
    Thanks.

Did you download and install the drivers? You need to download the drivers then install them from within Windows. See the Boot Camp Installation Guide. http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/boot_camp_install-setup_10.7.pdf
Also search these forums for links to the audio drivers from the manufacturers's site.

  • Plug-in Mic won't work in SB-CS3

    Hello, all!
I am trying to record voice-over files in SB CS3.
I have a regular, cheap standing microphone that simply plugs into the mic jack in front of my computer.   It works for me without a problem when I'm recording in Audacity.
But, I get nothing when I try to record a new file in SB.  I read the help section, which says that I might need to activate the mic in a panel, but for the life of me can't find that panel anywhere in my workspace or on any menu or tool bar.
I'm fairly Adobe savvy, and can usually sort of intuit my way around work spaces.   This one has me stumped.
    Can anyone help me??
    Thanks!!
    Mary

    Follow up...
The choices I get when I click into the preferences/settings panel for output and input are:
Conexant HD Audio Output  :   on the output panel.
Conexant HD Audio Input :  on the input panel.
Those are the only items listed in these windows.   They are already "x" ed off and can't be un-"x"-ed.
The choices for ports on the recording panel are:
Conexant HD Audio Input-1/ Conexant HD Audio Input-2
    and
Conexant HD Audio Input-3/Conexant HD Audio Input-3
Them's all the choices I can find throughout.
    Thanks again.

  • Samson Q1U USB Mic won't work in Logic

    Hey there,
My Samson Q1U Mic (USB) will not show as an available I/O in Logic.
It is selected in my Audio/Midi Preferences under Utilities, as well as under System Preferences in Sound Input, as well - it works in Garage Band - however, it does not show as an available device in Logic??
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I was able to enable my snowball usb mic using the following procedure. I had logic studio open at the time, but I don't think it is necessary. In fact, you should probably do these steps (including above) before opening logic. By the way, I had never heard the term "aggregate device" before yesterday!
    1. Mic was plugged in, powered up, and was working in SYSTEM PREFERENCES/ SOUND/ Input. I highlighted the mic and it was registering sound.
    2. Go to UTILITIES/ audio midi setup. After window opens, go to the very top of the screen (menu options for audio midi setup) and click AUDIO which allows you to then open AGGREGATE DEVICE EDITOR.
3.Hit + to add new aggregate device. Select a check by built-in input, built in output, and your mic. Set the clock for built in output, not the mic. Save changes and exit/ close audio midi setup.
    4.*Restart the computer.*
5.I left the mic plugged in I think during the restart, but I may have plugged it back in after restart. I again made sure it was working in apple system preferences.
6.Open logic. Select preferences/audio. The AGGREGATE DEVICE should now be available as an input option. Select and save changes.
7.Go back to your project. Your mic should work on an audio track. I didn't have to do anything to the track input selector- it just worked and it has worked consistently even though I have disconnected and reconnected several times!
    SUCCESS!!

Not sure why such a great program would not have a simpler option for using a usb mic.

  • My Blue Yeti mic won't work on my MacBook Pro?

I was looking through the posts on here and the only solution I could find was to reinstall Lion, so I did, but it still doesn't work. Everytime I plug the mic in it says, "USB device requires too much power." Does anyone know how to fix this? I just bought the mic. I tried calling the Blue mic costumer service but no one answers.

So.....what did you do to fix it?

  • IPhone Headset Mic Doesn't Work

The mic on my iPhone 3G headphones (original) and a new set of Seinheiser headphones for the iPhone 3G do not work. By pressing the mic button I should be able to resume/pause playback on the iPod but need to get the phone out of the pocket to use the functions from the screen. Is this a glitch that needs to be looked at under warranty?

    It worth trying! Yeah...

  • Headset mic doesn't work on ventrilo

Everything seems to work fine on Vent, just the mic side is what i'm having problems with. I can hear everyone else, I just cant seem to get my "mic speaker" to light up when I talk.
    any ideas?
PS: same goes for Teamspeak as well.

We've cleaned the mic several times, didn't make a difference. And the mic doe run for recording, sounds fine. it;s only on calls it doesn't work.

  • Mic won't work with Yahoo voice!

    Hi all...
YahooIM just upgraded their 3.0 beta for Mac, now to include voice chat. A friend & I both upgraded on the same day. I can hear him AOK, but I get get him to hear me, nor show any input bars on the tiny screen VU meters.
Now here's the difference: He has an Intel iMac w built-in cam and mic while I'm running 10.4.11 on a dual G5 silver tower and an iSight cam. [My cam & mic work great on iChat/AIM, as well as input for iMovieHD, so the cam is working OK]
So, anyone have a similar situation?
    Any ideas?
    Work arounds?
    Fixes?
    Thanks!

The voice chat is through the telephone icon. Have you tried using the telephone voice chat to contact your buddy? Did you repair permissions and restart your computer after installing YahooIM? How about reinstalling YahooIM? Remember 3.0 is beta & issues should be expected.
I have been using 3.0 for quite some time and to date have not experiencing any issues using the telephone voice chat.

  • My microphone won't work in a skype call

My mic won't work at all when I make a call. I've tried multiple times but it just refuses to work for me.

I took it to the apple store and it was determined to be a mechanical problem. Since I had apple care, they replaced the phone.

  • 30GB won't work...no matter what :-(

My 30GB black iPod hasn't worked in days, it won't respond. I thought the battery was fully drained so I left it plugged into the computer all night and I wake up to see it still doesn't work. The computer didn't even recognize it, no removable hardware device icon was showing. Just to be on the safe side, I tried the thing two days later (so the battery fully discharges) on my laptop and still no response what so ever. The thing isn't on hold, and I've ran through the most the common 5Rs of solving iPod issues. The unit is less than 5 months old and has never been dropped, gotten wet, or anything else that would remotely cause harm to it. Any suggestions here?

(Re: Mic won't work no matter what I try!? I figured out the Source - mic thing after your previous message just by playing around a bit. I came to the conclusion that it was the same as accessing in the Windows mixer Playback panel though, so I knew that couldn't be the problem.
On a daily basis, I listen to DSS or WAV files through the A2ZS.
I don't know how to find out the impedance of my mic.
I don't know how to tell if there is an integrated (onboard) soundcard that is still enabled. Here's what shows up in my Sounds & Audio Device Properties: Unimodem Half-Duplex Audio Device, Creative SB Audigy, Creative Game Port, Audio Codecs, Legacy Audio Drivers, Media Control Devices, Legacy Video Capture Devices, Video Codecs.
Interesting to note that about 2 weeks ago, I used my Camtasia Studio software to make a video and I was able to record my voice through the microphone without a hitch. I've been racking my brain and can't think of anything that changed between now and then.
