  • IPhone 5S home button seems loose.

The home button on my iPhone has a strange feel to it after about of week of use. When I press it, there is a slight click before the actual button press. It's really noticable when I double-click it for multi-task. Also, the touch-id won't work when the button is loose. Anyone else have a similar problem?

Same here as well- I exchanged my first iphone 5S a couple weeks ago under warranty for a defect in the oleophobic coating (had this weird smudge that you clean off, but once you started using the phone it would return.. and was visable against light backgrounds). Now this one has the 'double click' sound, if I'm push down the home button for a few a seconds it'll go away for a while- I'm guessing part of the adhesive isn't holding properly. I'll probably hold off on try to exchange it again- this one does much better with it's touchid sensor. The first one would give me a 'try again' 50% of the time for any of the fingers I programmed it for, even after relearning. The new I haven't received a single false negative yet.

  • My home button is loose and snappy. When resting my thumb on the home button I can gently slide it around. Also when pressing home buttonit sounds snappy...!?!?!

WHen i rest my thumb on the home button... i can gently slide it around. Also when I press the home buttton it sounds snappy... Similar to when pressing the center of a jar cap after it has been opened. Is this normal? Do I have a defective phone?

The button has multiple functions.  Pressing, tapping, reading your finger print,..  If you think it is too loose, visit an apple retail store (with an appointment), and have them look at it.  But I think that it should have some play, as to access reachability, you have to touch it twice, while tapping it twice brings up the app switcher.

  • Loose home button and dark screen

I just bought my new iPhone 4 from the AT&T store today.
I have noticed that the home button is loose and tends to slide around left-to-right, and the upper half of the screen has a small but noticeable dark tint to it. There are also some light gray streaks and spots.

Will they let me return it for a new one or look at me like I'm crazy? I know these are small issues but they are an annoyance.

i just bought my iphone 4 yesterday and the home button is also moving left to right. So I brought it in today for a replacement at the apple store in CERRITOS MALL, CALIFORNIA, and this salesman was such a smart *** that he wouldnt believe that there is such a thing existing!!! im like, HELLO?!?! read your own FORUMS!!! And it was just RUDE for me that they wont LISTEN TO CUSTOMERS THAT WANT THEIR MONEYS WORTH!!!!!!! so what he did was offer me an appointment with Genius Bar (which I was expecting anyway to happen) and have it checked. We VALUED CUSTOMERS WONT WALK HOME WITH SOMETHING ANNOYING IN THE PRODUCTS WE BUY! ISN'T SALES ALL ABOUT CUSTOMER S-A-T-I-S-F-A-C-T-I-O-N?!!?!?! Get some new sales people and managers that love their job! coz these people are RUDE! I tried explaining NICELY a problem one time, and the APPLE MANAGER cuts me off by tellin me, "JUST LET ME DO MY JOB!" I paid cash for an iphone 4 with a loose home button which annoys anyone for sure, so wouldnt you want a new one with a rock solid button like the normal ones? Does anyone feel me here?!?! thank you...

  • Loose home button

hi, the sapphire glass on my home button is loose and clicks when touched but not pressed, are there any temporary solutions to this and will Apple repair or replace it at the genius bar free of cost? Thanks

Yeah I got the same problem. It seems I can 'move' my home button a little bit from left to right when I place my thumb on it. It also sometimes clicks when I lay my finger on it

  • Can I glue my home button back on? Or should I bring it in for service?

My home button was loose and then fell off. I still have it, but and the phone works fine still but I want to know if I can superglue the button back in place or should I make a service appointment to have them do it?

    You should make an appointment.

  • IPhone 6 clicking noise coming from home button and also a little loose..anyone else have this issue or suggestions on how to handle it? Any and all suggestions are appreciated

It seems as if when I push my home button there is a loud click or a clicking noise that shouldn't be there.  If I push the home button in certain areas or kind of on the side it's not so bad.  Also it seems as if the button is kind of loose or wiggles a little bit and can also feel the little silver ring and seems as if it's either not on properly or the home button is sunken in pretty good.  I was at the Apple Store and checked out some display models and didn't notice it on those and they all felt solid.  Has anyone else had this issue or experienced this?  Any and all suggestions will help greatly...I just want to know if it's normal or how I should go about taking care of it...thanks!

ok...the doctor is in!....well, yes I agree with other posts concerning "clicky" crunchy touch id/home buttons...ah... we do swaps, cleanings, alcohol wipes....NO NO NO! yes dirt can and will trap inside the extreme minor spaces around the home button and the screen cutout..yes twirling a q-tip round the button only stuffs grime deeper in, but can clean the edge...in this case, that crunch you hear (new out-of-box), its a very popular notice that most do hear a crunchy glass-like snapping sound...being that the touch id does have a sensor ring on the outer side, the actual noise your hearing is ........wait for it......MISS-ALLIGNMENT!!!! yes... pop that sucker open, remove bracket....what do you see??. touch id pressed thru and adheared around the ends of the button...and also most cases, not perfectly aligned..that noise is the actual ring brushing against the screen hole cutout causing metal and glass to bind against eachother... re-seating the button will correct the issue..being that theyre so close together, the slightest miss-alignment can cause that annoying crunchy click sound. find a swap that doesn't...ok that one works but now the silent switch is loose!!!!! ive seen it all

  • IPod Touch 3G Home Button Loose

    Hey All.
I recently got the 3rd Generation iPod 32GB Touch for Christmas and I have used it quite a bit.
I've just noticed that the home button is a bit loose if I use my finger or thumb to move it around a bit.
Are there problems for 3rd Gen iPod Touches or is it due to my excessive use and excessive use of the home button?
Thanks. If only there were exit buttons on the apps then I would not use the home button as much. Wondered if anyone could help me with this query.
    Thanks

Well my parents bought it for me. I believe they did not buy it from an Apple Store but from a store like Currys, PC World etc. Would I still be able to take it to the Apple Store with the reciept?
Is Apple most likely to fix the button or replace the whole thing?
Also I would like to know I downloaded a few apps free and paid and backed them up to my PC so if the whole machine has to be replaced would I be able to copy the apps to the new iPod Touch?
    Thanks Alot.

  • IPhone 6 plus home button/Touch ID button is loose and wiggle Please Help!!!!

okay so when I got my 6 plus on Saturday, I was enjoying my new phone until when I noticed that there was a wiggle and loose home button when I slightly touched it. Is this normals because when I checked the display iPhone 6 plus, it was a bit loose as well but I couldn't really tell because it was crowded. do you guys have the same problem?

No I don't have the problem. Return the phone and ask them to check it out.

  • Loose Home Button (iPhone 5)

I bought a brand new iphone 5 in October from verizon. Anyways, what I've started to notice is that the home button tends to be "somewhat" loose.  I can move it side to side or up a down. It doesn't make any noise when moved. The button works fine and it's not like it's falling off.  Its very on and off. I just get nervous now thinking there is something wrong or it's defective.  But I've heard others have noticed this as well with the 4s/iPads too.  Does anyone think I should really worry about this or is it considered "normal?" Does anyone else have this "wiggle" issue? I have been using it for a few months now, so maybe it's just from normal wear and tear from the home button itself.  The applecare tech said it was normal so i just wanted other opinions. Hopefully I'm not the only one. Thank you for any helpful answers.

Well, he opened it and tightened it up. It is more resistant when I press it, but it still wiggles like it is too small for the cut out and it will weaken. I will just deal with it for now but hopefully it won't become a problem in the future.

  • Home button unresponsive at times, also very loose?

My 3 month old iPad 2 starting acting up on Wednesday in terms of its home button. I noticed that it was unresponsive or I had to put more pressure on it than normal for it to work. I restarted my iPad, and then it seemed to work for about a day, then went back to being unresponsive or being VERY hard to click. I then called the complimentary 90 day over-the-phone tech support and the genius guided through me on what he called a Hard Reset. I did that, and now it seems to be working very fine (sometimes I might have to click it twice, but other than that it seems to be working). But now I have another problem. After doing the hard reset, my home button seems to be pushed down that you can even feel the glass, and it's very loose (if you put your two fingers on either side, you can literally rock it). Remember now, the home button is now like this because due to a "glitch", I had to put more pressure on the home button than usual. Now, I'm very annoyed on how the home button feels. Can I take it to a local apple store and have them fix it for free of charge (since I still have an active 9 month warranty?) Can they some how "tighten" the home button or make it like new (stiff, non-loose) again AT the store or does it have to be sent away? Can this even be fixed? Any useful response will be great!

If there is an Apple store nearby, make an appointment. If this is determined to be a hardware failure, your iPad will not be repaired, it will be exchanged under warranty at the store right then and there. Immediately before going to the store, update the backup for your iPad in case your iPad is exchanged under warranty.

  • IPad mini home button loose

I received an iPad mini for Christmas. Using it last night I feel the home button slightly moving a bit if my thumb moves back and forth on it, as if it is loose a bit. Is this normal?

It may be normal, but without being able to test it myself I can't say. The home button on my iPad (not a mini) does have a bit of play to it. If you are concerned, make an appointment ot take the iPad to an Apple Store, if there's one in your area, and have them check it out. Or visit an iPad dealer and check out how other iPad minis feel.
    Regards.

  • IPad 2 glass loose by home button and slightly raised.

The glass by my iPad home button is lose and slighly raised. I took it to a genius bar and they didn't replace it. It also makes a ticking joins if and kind of pressure is out on it. What should I do. It's really irritating.

How long have you had the iPad? If it was like that when you took it out of the box you probably should have boxed it back up and returned it immediately.
The iPad comes with a one year warranty against manufacturer defects and while the device may be operating properly right now, it's hard to imagine that the loose glass will not get even looser over time and cause problems for you in the future.
I'm basing my opinion what I would do based on your description of the device - assuming that it is clear to see that the glass is loose and that the clicking noise could be replicated so that someone else can hear it.  With that in mind, I would take it back again and plead my case, very politely, but firmly, and ask to speak to someone higher up the chain of command at the Apple Store and explain your concerns again and try to get it replaced.
Once again, if the glass is clearly loose and there is some clicking noise resulting from this, it would seem logical to expect it to get progressively worse so the sooner you deal with it the better off you will be.
