My home button isn't working. Is there a way to fix it?

Instead of saying "Home" it says "homeButton.label;" and it just doesn't do anything. There's not much more detail to it than that. I don't know how long ago it started or if it happened right after I got an add-on or anything, I just know it's not working.

Sounds like a broken theme or extensions.
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

Try temporarily disabling your firewall and antivirus software and try again...

(1) Open the Mail app.
(2) Press the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider shows.
(3) Immediately release the Sleep/Wake button and press the Home button. Hold until the red slider disappears and then release the Home button.
(4) Now try out the Home button again.

How to get rid of switch control on an iPod touch that home button isn't working and wifi is off.

My son has an iPod touch and his home button doesn't work on it. Because the home button didn't work he had the touch button on his screen to navigate through things. Last night he was out, shut his wifi off because there wasn't any wifi to connect too, and was fooling around with his iPod. Somehow he enabled switch control on his iPod, then it shut down and now can't get into it because the touch home button has disappeared, wifi still isn't connected and home button doesn't work.
We tried rebooting it and wiping it remotely, but because there isn't wifi, we can't connect. Also, it's password protected and we can't get into it from the computer because of the switch control.
Please help if you can. He's had it for two years and is feeling pretty down today, it took him a long time to save up and buy it.

IPod touch won't turn on and home button isn't working

So two days ago I was using my iPod and I put it town for a few minutes, and when I came back it would not turn on. It was fully charged so it is not a battery issue. It's a iPod touch 5th gen. Usually when this happens I do the home and power button press but now my home button doesn't work. I don't know what happened to that either because it suddenly stopped working. I tried to use TinyUmbrella and Macboot (or whatever it's called) but they didn't work because they didn't recognize my device. Is there any other way to fix this? No need to download, is a native application on the iphone. go to settings »General» accessibility »assistive touch" turn on.

How can i get my ipod touch 4th gen out of recovery mode if my home button isn't working?

i am not interested in fixing my home button myself. the ipod is 2.5 years old and the home button seems to be pushed in too far so it will not work and i was updating an app when it went into recovery mode. i have tried all of the tutorials on YouTube and none have worked. i tried pressing the home and sleep buttons until the apple logo appeared, it did but less than a second later, it went back to the "connect to itunes" screen. please help

The only way to get an iPod out of recovery mode is to connect it to iTunes and restoring to a previous back up. If there is no back up the data will be lost. Hope this helps!

Hello! For the past two weeks my home button hasn't been working and since I'm too lazy to go to an apple store I just started using assistive touch instead. But ever since yesterday my iPod won't turn on which I know is a normal problem with as easy fix, to restart the device, but that requires a working home button, which is something I don't have. I've tried using rubbing alcohol to fix the home button but it won't work, if anyone has any other solutions I will be forever grateful!

Here is an extract from a thread, the author and exact context of which I do not recall :
1. Open a stock iOS app, such as Contacts
2. Press & hold the sleep/wake button at the top of your device until the red slider control appears.
3. Immediately release the sleep/wake button and press & hold the Home button. Hold until the red slider disappears. Release the Home button.
You should now be on your home screen and your Home button should be recalibrated!

I do not know with a iP4. But with iPhone 3G and 3GS, the Home Button circuitry that is used for a typical press to return to Home Screen is different than used to Reset, Enter Recovery, or DFU. So a Reset could still help. Anyway along the lines of your thinking, it would still be better to Restart the iPhone, here you would just be using the Power button. The Restart could even get the Home button to respond again. So the best advice maybe for any iPhone problem would be as often stated on this Forum.....
Restart, Reset, Restore and then last resort before throwing iPhone in trash, DFU Restore.

Probably nothing. Apple doesn't support the iPod Touch 2G anymore. My display is cracked, and i'm thinking of replacing it myself. You can also do that with lock button. Just google it, and you'll probably find how to do it.
