My home button won't work. What do I do to fix it?
I tried powering off and restarting but nothing is doing the trick. Phone was fine last night and then this morning it would not go home.
Or it could be that the home button is uncalibrated or something. If it were stuck you could just replace it yourself, but I'd have an Apple Genius look at this one.

Hello my name is Leslie and i would like to ask you guys a question on how to fix my ipod or what is wrong with it. My ipod touch 5th generation will not turn on and the home button doesn't work. what can i do to fix it ?
Has the home button worked in the past, or is this been something that hasn't worked for some time? The only way to reset the device is with the sleep/wake (power) and home buttons together. Without it, you would have to wait until the battery dies and then plug it in to try and reset it. The Home button is used for several user troubleshooting steps. Without it, you cannot perform a reset, put the device into recovery mode, or place it in DFU mode. You need to get the home button repaired.

What should I do if the home button won't work?
What should I do if the home button won't work?
You can try this.
Calibrate the home button
1. Open a stock iOS app, such as Contacts
2. Press & hold the sleep/wake button at the top of your device until the red slider control appears.
3. Immediately release the sleep/wake button and press & hold the home button. Hold until the red slider disappears.
As a a workaround, you can use Multitasking Gestures if you can't get the home button to work.

However, you might want to try restoring the iPad to see if that returns the functionality of the home button and/or take it to an Apple Store and let a Genius have a look at it. -

Help, my home button won't work at all!!!
Hi,
my home button won't work at all, and when I tried to restart the phone, the message appears that this action won't work unless the phone is on the airplane mode. Can't really read the whole message cause it disappears after a second or so.
I put the phone on the charger and the USB connection also failed.
What happened? It sounds like it's broken. Assuming you haven't jailbreaked or otherwise hacked it you should try a Restore or a Recovery. If you put it in the cradle and you can't restore it see: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305797 for Recovery mode.
If this doesn't work call Apple or take it to an Apple store; it probably needs to be replaced.
If it HAS been hacked go to the source of your hacking tools for help; we aren't allowed to discuss it here. -

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

*** HOME button won't work all of a sudden - help!
I have a weird problem. My phone hasn't been dropped on the ground or in water but all of a sudden, the home button doesn't work anymore. Nothing feels broken on the phone (i.e. the button doesn't feel like it won't press down) but whenever I'm in an app and need to exist, pressing the home button does nothing! If I'm in my email and want to surf Safari, I have to reboot my phone - which is obviously very annoying.
I tried restoring my iPhone as both a new phone and from my latest backup but it still doesn't work - bummer. Is my phone broken or does anyone have any tips and tricks that could get it up and running again?
Thanks in advance for any help!Possibly a hardware problem. Mine developed that issue, although at first a really hard press worked. Apple replaced my phone.

My itouch (5th gen. 32GB) was working just fine, with a full battery. I set it down, and 15 minutes later it didn't turn on. I brought it back home to see if it needed to be charged for some reson, but it was still pitch black. I plugged it into the computer to see if anything would happen but nothing did. I know you can reboot/ restart it by holding the power and home button at the same time for a few seconds, but my home button is broken... I have no clue what to do...
If your iPod Touch, iPhone, or iPad is Broken
Apple does not fix iDevices. Instead, they exchange yours for a refurbished or new replacement depending upon the age of your device and refurbished inventories. On rare occasions when there are no longer refurbished units for your older model, they may replace it with the next newer model.
ATTN: Beginning July 2013 Apple Stores are now equipped to do screen repairs/replacements in-house on iPhone 5 and 5C. In some cases while you wait. According to Apple this is the beginning of equipping Apple Stores with the resources needed to do most repairs for iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touches that would not require major replacements. Later in the year the services may be extended as Apple Stores become equipped and staffed with the proper repair expertise. So, if you need a screen repaired or a broken screen replaced or have your stuck Home button fixed, call your local Apple Store to see if they are now doing these in-house.

my iPhone 4 doesn't want to turn back on, its randomly turned off on me before but now it wont turn on at all.
i left it charging over night to hope it would turn on in the morning but still hasn't worked... i plugged it into the computer and its been connected for about 10 minutes and still wont turn on. my home button is broken so i cant do the sleep/wake and home button reset.
what do i do? HELP! thank you.Hello jabez2440,
Not being able to use your device can certainly be frustrating. After reviewing your post, I have located an article that can help with your iPhone. It contains a number of troubleshooting steps and helpful advice for the issue you are experiencing:
iOS: Not responding or does not turn on - Apple Support
Your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch may occasionally stop responding to buttons, switches, or touchscreen input and may exhibit one or more of these symptoms:
Does not return to the Home screen after you press the Home button
Does not wake from sleep after you press the Sleep/Wake button
Does not turn on (or power on) when you press any button
Does not start up past Apple logo
Appears frozen or unresponsive
Is unable to "Slide to Unlock" or "Slide to Power Off"
To troubleshoot these symptoms:
If a single application is not responding or stops responding when it opens, you can force it to close.
If the device is unresponsive or if certain controls aren't working as expected, restart your device.
If the device remains unresponsive or does not turn on (or power on), reset your device.
If there is no video or if the screen remains black, verify that the device has enough charge to turn on:
If you are using an iPad, ensure that it's connected to the USB Power Adapter supplied with the device.
Let it charge for at least twenty minutes, then see if it starts normally.
If there is no image on the screen, press the Sleep/Wake button to attempt to wake the device.
If the screen displays a red battery icon, continue charging the device until the battery is fully charged. Learn more about charging iPhone and iPod touch, or iPad.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, or the if the screen remains black or shows a persistent Apple logo, try restoring with iTunes:
Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane. Learn more about restoring iOS software.
If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try to force the device into recovery mode, and then restore it.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, contact Apple.
Thank you for contributing to Apple Support Communities.
Cheers,

My home button won't work correctly after I plug the charger in
My iPhone 5s's home button doesn't respond correctly after i plug in the charger. I'm not sure what's wrong.
At first, it wouldn't charge so i had to find a different charger that i had ordered from amazon (not from apple) and it only worked when i plugged it in with one side. the other chargers that i have from apple do not work. the home button sometimes works correctly, but im sure that it starts to not respond correctly after i plug the charger in. i have tried almost everything i could find on the internet. im not sure if its a hardware or software problem. please help. thank youSorry but I'm not clear. Do you have more than one charger from Amazon? Did this problem start after you used the charger(s) you got from Amazon and now using the Apple brand chargers it doesn't work either? I'm wondering if the Amazon charger damaged the phone.
