My home screen does not rotate

Many (but not all) of my screens on my iPhone 4S do not rotate to landscape.

I got my iphone 4S 2 weeks ago and just realized it shoudl be rotating.  I've been so captivated by everything elst that it does I guess I didn't need it before now.  Today I need it and it is not working.  I've gone through the other posts that are similar to this one and all they recomend is to hit home buton twice then swipeing back on app bar until Screen rotations setting; then verify it is not locked.  Mine is not locked and the home screen simply will not rotate.  Is their a solution somewhere on this issue or is a fix needed from Apple?

II'm not sure what the problem is, but reset your iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time until the Apple logo appears on the screen. It takes about 10 seconds. See if that fixes it.

Check to see if Calculator will rotate into landscape mode.  Not all apps support rotation.

  • The time on the weather widget on my home screen does not match the phone time.  Initially it did, but one day it started being 1 hour earlier than the phone time.  I went into Settings/Date

The time on the weather widget on my home screen does not match the phone time.  Initially it did, but one day it started being 1 hour earlier than the phone time.  I went into Settings/Date & Time & now the time on the weather widget is correct, but the phone time is 1 hour earlier.  Any suggestions??

Settings | Date and Time  then select Automatic date & time, and Automatic time zone. In this way, the carrier time will populate the phone. If it's still going 1hour off, then I'd call VZW and inquire if they have a tower issue, specially if it happens in one particular place.

    You'll have to contact the developer about this. Apple doesn't make this app;

  • My new iphone 5 screen does not rotate from portrait to landscape.  It is stuck in portrait.  I checked and its not locked (double clicked home button scrolled over and the circle arrow does NOT  have lock inside it).

My screen refuses to rotate (the home screen).  I already double clicked home button and scrolled over, the circle arrow does NOT have the lock inside it.  I went thru all the settings and can find nothing to try and fix this.  Do I need to send the phone back?  Is it broken?  I just got it yesterday.  It has not been damaged in any way.  Please help.

The home screen doesn't rotate to landscape mode.  Only apps do.
Good eye Rob, I didn't even catch that.

  • My ipad screen does not rotate. I tried all things, reseting, even reseting and deleting applications.

My iPad2 does not rotate. I have already tried all the suggestions. reseting, erase all content and settings. I don't know what to do more. Shall I contact support service and ask them to change my iPad?

Is there a lock symbol at the top of the screen next to the battery indicator ? If so, then depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (rotation lock or mute notifications), then you can lock/unlock the rotation by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad, or via the taskbar : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and it's the icon far left; press home again to exit the taskbar. The function that isn't on the side switch is set via the taskbar instead : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4085
If there isn't a lock symbol then try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • Ipad2 screen does not rotate

The screen on my ipad2 does not rotate when using any of the applications. I have done a reset, reboot and checked the orientation lock - none of these have made any difference.
I've heard that something can break inside? How can I check if that is the case and therefore get a replacement/refund?
    Thanks

    1. Make sure the Side Switch is set to Lock Rotation: Settings>General

    2. Now check the Side Switch to make sure it's in the unlock position

  • Nokia N8 Call Screen does not rotate landscape

After PR1.1 the dialer rotates to landscape mode on the N8, but the call screen that comes up after this, is still in portrait mode.
Yet, on the C6, the call screen also rotates to landcape mode with PR1.1
(see screenshot of C6 call screen in landscape mode)
Why does the C6 call screeen rotate landscape yet the N8 does not?
    thanks

You are correct, C6 is not but I meant to say NOKIA C6-01 is running S^3, and the call creen rotates landscape, yet the N8 does not.

I would like Nokia to tell me why this is, and if they are going to address it.
I want a landscape call screen also for my N8!

  • Ipod touch 3g screen does not rotate after update

after upgrading my iPod Touch 3rd Generation os to ver 5.0.1 I have noticed that the screen will quit rotating.  I can do a hard reset and it will rotate but after a very short period of time it quits rotating again.

Try restoring the iPod. First from backup and if problem persists, restore to factory defaults/new iPod.
If you still have the problem then you likely have a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • TS3899 Suddenly, when I check my email, the screen does not rotate to the direction the phone is being held.  How can I correct this?  (Displays horizontally rather than vertically.)

My phone has suddenly started to display my emails horizontally and does not self-correct when I am holding it vertically.  I have tried to correct this - to no avail.  Does anybody know how to correct this?

  • In Safari when I turn my phone to horizontal the screen does not rotate is there a setting for this?

How do I get my phone (iphone 4s to rotate the screen in Safari) it works in the photo app?

I solved the problem! After turning the rotate to unlock you must re-boot the phone. Then when you are in Safari, etc. and turn the phone horizontal the screen rotates from portrat mode.

  • Screen does not rotate

Just started using my new iPad 2. Why doesn't the screen rotate? My other products did this right out of the box

The little side switch mentioned by the previous poster can be used to lock rotation. If rotation is locked a small lock in a circular arrow will show in the top status bar of your iPad.
The little side switch can also be used to mute the sound on your iPad. The action of the switch is selected in
Settings > General > Use Side Switch
If the screen was locked and the selection changed above to Mute Sound then the screen will be locked and the only way to change it to allow the screen to rotate is to go back to he settings.
