My homepage is being hijacked by the mozilla firstrun page

I've tried all the "fixes" listed for other homepage hijacks, but they don't seem to cure this problem. Whenever I close Firefox and reopen, the homepage is always the Mozilla firstrun page. How can I get this to be MY preferred homepage, not the Mozilla first run page?

Every time I click on my home page it opens two tabs one of which is the mozilla atart page. I would like it to stop.

I believe that the question is self descriptive. I open a new tab and it opens. I click on my home page which is Google. The browser then opens a second tab and in the second tab that it opens is the Mozilla start page. if I do this several times during the day I end up with several tabs open to the Mozilla start page and it is irritating.

Firefox can have multiple home pages, check your list of home pages to ensure that the 2 sites are not listed. See [[how to set the home page]] for details.

That is the snippet container.
You can hide that container or set the <b>browser.aboutHomeSnippets.updateUrl</b> pref to an empty String on the <b>about:config</b> to make Firefox use some default snippets.

When I enter a search in the Mozilla Start Page and press enter the browser does nothing. It doesn't bring in any search results. I use Windows Vista pack2

I just upgraded Firefox for windows to version 21.0
After upgrading, when I enter a subject to search in the search box (in the middle of the page) of the Mozilla Start page and press enter nothing happens. It doesn't bring in any search results.
The only way to navigate using the browser is to enter the website name in the address box at the top of the page and press enter. I'm running the browser for Windows Vista - 32 bits.
I tried re-installing firefox and I got the same result. I also tried re-booting after installation and it still behaves the same way.

Understood! We don't like being bombarded with advertising any more than you do.
If this is happening every time you open Firefox, it might be that Mozilla tab has also been set as your homepage.
To check this:

# If the Mozilla web address is included in that home page box, delete it.

What's the difference b/w Google searching from the Mozilla Start Page and the search bar?

It's not a high-priority question, I just want a general answer.
I read that Google renews the license of Google search bar on the Mozilla Firefox Start Page, and that's from where Mozilla makes 90% of its money, because it's a not-for-profit organisation.
I want to know whether I am giving Google a signal of making use of that license renewal when I search from the Start Page and not from the search bar I have.

I need the actual address of the Mozilla start page. It is not the default in my Firefox options.

Everytime I start up it goes to the mozilla start page, as if first time started

Everytime I sart firefox it shows the start up page. If I change the home page, when I shut down, then start back up again, it changes to the firefox start page.
I also see a skype page for a little bit

Just updated to 9.0.1~ select homepage as about:blank & startpage as blank but it continues to open with the mozilla whatsnew page how can I stop this & have blank as I require?

Per above I am using Firefox 9.0.1 with Windows XP Home Edition & have been unable so far to set my Firefox startup preferences per all previous versions to Blank page even tho' that's what is selected under Tools-Options-General

It might be a pref.js issue, so the second article should fix your issue with the search bar. These should give you all the information you need!

My homepage is being hijacked by esnips.Everytime I reset it in options it overides it.I have also tried resetting in about config but it also overides this.

I have checked my plug ins and extensions and can find nothing related to esnips.

Try to "Reset all user preferences to Firefox defaults" on the [[Safe mode]] start window.

Why are active menus and dialog boxes disappearing/being overwritten by the active tab/page content?

Frequently when selecting a download directory/filename in the "save to" dialog the entire dialog is overwritten with the active page content. It appears the dialog has closed, but if you tab through the dialog the active field/control is written but the rest of the dialog remains hidden/overwritten. This has also happened with the "open file" dialog. The the drop down menus on the menu bar are occasionally being overwritten after being activated/pulled down. I have not been able to determine a common/specific event causing this problem.

I seem to have fixed it by putting <div class="clearfloat"></div> after the navigation bar?

You should be able to close a tab via the Ctrl+W shortcut.

Why would i get 'The Connection Is Untrusted' when i attempt to go to the Mozilla support page? Why not put something in the error log specifically for this?

Because i'm connecting to a Mozilla site with firefox 'Untrusted' seems unnecessary.
If i were a Mozilla browser i'd trust that site.
I reinstalled Mozilla and it fixed the problem.
Seemed an odd error though.

I am surprised that reinstalling Firefox fixed this. Perhaps a file got corrupted during the previous upgrade?
There are many reasons that an SSL certificate might not be considered trustworthy, but at this point, I don't think we'll be able to investigate the exact reason you had that problem since it won't be possible to re-create it.
