My hotmail account set up on my iPad is syncing all previous messages, some which are around 5 years old.

I have set up my hotmail account on my iPad using IMAP settings. Using this approach gives me the ability to sync all mail folders including Junk. During the setup, I am not given the choice to decide how far back do i want to go back with my previous emails.The account got set up without any issues but the end result: Mail has now synced almost 2000 messages from my inbox, some being almost 5 years old leading to extra space being used up.
How can I change this so that my iPad onlydownloads recent messages (last 5 days maybe)? Any help will be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I dont think its keyboard or BIOS issue.
Why?
Because usually an faulty keyboard does not prevent the notebook from booting up. The POST should be passed properly but the keyboard would not work.
BIOS issue?
I dont think so since the BIOS cannot be muddled up without re-flashing the EPROM module.
Therefore the issue can be related to the motherboard as well as connected parts like RAM modules.

I dont think so. Low of faulty RTC battery leads only to BIOS data loss (date, time, etc)
But the unit should still be able to power up.

Well, before replacing any parts, you could ask for cost estimation but in case of motherboard issue the fix can be very expensive.

Anyway, I still want to know, what did you refer to by "dashboard"? Do you mean the Navigation Pane on the left side?

Photos on the camera roll can be included in an icloud backup from an iOS device (if camera roll is turned on). But getting the photos back from a backup is risky. Many users have performed restore operations from a backup only to discover the photos were not returned. icloud is primarily used to sync photos to other devices using photo stream - but only new photos taken after the stream is turned on in Settings>icloud will actually be synced, not old photos.
Settings>icloud>Storage & Backups>Manage Storage, tap the device's name and on the next screen, be sure Camera Roll is turned on.
IMPORTANT...
Photos should be regularly synced to a computer (like you store photos from a digital camera) using either USB via iTunes (on a mac use iPhoto or Aperture to move them to an album). You can then sync the photos to the iPad.

Well first off, you can find out the model and all the rest of the info about your computer using the Apple(logo) drop down menu at the top menu bar, and the first option will be 'About This Mac' click on that and then click on the 'more info' button and you'll see all there is to see.
And as far as helping you set up your mail...
Try this. It will be a POP account.
type in your e.mail address where it says address. [email protected]
Then, your full name.
then incoming mail server, should be...
mail.hotmail.com
then enter your username, which is whatever comes before @hotmail.com
Then the password.
And then the outgoing will be this...
smtp.hotmail.com
Then it will ask you your username and password again for that, enter them in and then save them so they'll always be logged in. Keychain the password that is.
I have never tried using a free net account for Mac Mail, but if it is able to work, this will get you through it.

Hi there trying to update my ipad but when syncing it syncs over all iphone apps how can i disable this to only update the ipad apps?

With the iPad connected and selected on the left-hand side of your computer's iTunes, you can use the Apps tab on the right-hand side to select which apps to sync to the iPad - there isn't a setting on that tab to say only sync iPad apps, but there is a tickbox (under the list of apps) for whether or not to automatically sync all new apps.

New iPad dosent sync all photos in photostream

I love the new iPad, but it only syncs about 25% of my photos. These photostream photos are recent and they are under 1000, it only synced maybe my most recent 100 photos. I have plenty of memory. I have done everything the apple help center tells me to do....(I'm on wifi, I have battery, iCloud sync photostream is on, I have reset it). I have also restarted my device, installed any updates, my other Devices include the ancient iPad 1 and an iPhone 4S, no problems with those devices syncing Photos, documents, or apps.

Are you sure that the Photo Stream photos that are on the iPad and the iPhone aren't really in the camera roll on this devices .... Maybe you saved them to the camera roll from the Photo Stream.
Photos that are over 30 days would have been deleted from the Photo Stream wouldn't they have been? If you saved them to the camera roll on the other devices they would still appear on those devices.
I am really just starting to use Photo Stream myself, and im noe expert by any menas, but I am getting my information from here. However, I could be misunderstanding how it works, since I am new to the whole thing myself.

And now that I think about it, the PhotoStream contents are not in your backup so restoring from the backup would not transfer them to the new iPad and only photos that you have taken - after you turned on PhotoStream on the new iPad, should appear in the PhotoStream on the device.

Yes, I would say that your passwords are gone. When the Sync Key is "updated" as indicated in that part of the sync-log that I cropped, the server is wiped of the users data because that data is useless. That Sync key is the encryption key for the users data when that data is off the user's devices which are connected to Firefox Sync. No one except for the person with the correct Sync Key (the "owner" of that Sync account) can use that data as the data is scrambled.
I am curious about the full text of the last two sync-log files, 11kb and 38kb is a lot more data than usual for a sync-log. On my 3 separate Sync accounts I usually see sync-log files of 3kb to 8 kb when there is an error-. Problem is that this forum software doesn't provide for file uploads, and doing a copy&paste of that data into the Reply Box doesn't preserve the line formatting - making it very difficult to read and follow the sequence of events.

My IPad shut down this afternoon and now it won't start up. It's less than 1 year old. I tried plugging it in and pressing the on/off button. After holding the button in for several seconds, the Apple icon appears, but then disappears.

First, try this:
Plug it in to the wall using an Apple charger and Apple cable for several hours. The idea is to fully charge it.
Then hold the home and on/off buttons together for about 10 seconds. Hopefully the Apple logo will appear and it will start. Do not release the buttons until you see the Apple logo.
If it starts, great. If not, you say your iPad is less than a year old. If you bought it brand new from an Apple Store or Authorized Apple vendor, it is under warranty. Take it to an Apple Store or Authorized Apple Service Center for diagnosis and repair.
