My HP 1005 laser printer cuts both top and bottom lines in half

I have a 2nd hand HP 1005 laser printer and every time that I'm printing a full page it will cut on the first page the bottom paragraph in two and
the other part will appear on the the other page. The page is set on US Letter and sometimes I have to scale to about 90% but the
font will be small. So what can I do to fix this annoying problem?? I have a Canon printer too and it never printed this way even out of
the box it always printed the last paragraph in full without any adjustments. Any help with this would be welcomed!!!

Try downloading the latest HP driver from Apple. Both the Laserjet P1005 and M1005 are listed on:
OS X: Printer and scanner software available for download
which suggests if having the latest HP driver, you may fix any issues on Snow Leopard through Mavericks. Double check HP to find out if there is a more recent driver for your printer as well for Mountain Lion.

Without looking at the design you have in mind, I think you will need to create a Cell Style and include that Cell Style in a Table Style. Here is what might work for you:
1) Create a Cell Style. In the Cell Style Options dialog, under Strokes and Fills, click on the top and bottom (horizontal) lines of the Cell Stroke to exclude them from being considered. Set the Weight of the left & right vertical line to 0.
2) Create a Table Style and in its Options dialog, select the Cell Style you created above for Body Rows. If you want a separate color/weight for the Top and Bottom Borders of the Table, set it under Table Setup. Then set the Alternating Pattern (Every other row) for Row Strokes.
Then apply the Table Style to the table.

Printing from LinuxMint-17 to HP7525 cuts-off top and bottom of pages, enforced 15mm margins

I am printing a page from my bank (Fidelity), but there is an enforced margin of 15mm at the top and the bottom of the printed page.
This cuts-off most of the form name at the top of the page and the most of the barcode at the bottom of the page.
I find I have to "take screenshot" and import into "gimp". Then crop the page and then print directly from "gimp" to print the entire form. I have tried to teach this to my wife, to no avail. I wish HP would fix the drivers to allow Linux to print inside the margins. There is no problem printing from Windoz XP, but that is using an old hard drive and the computer runs dog slow and is ready to die.
Again, HP please update the linux drivers so my brand new printer will work as it is supposed to.

Formula for printing balance on top and bottom

Hi guys,
I'm fumbling around quite a while now and browsed the forum without any success (probably due to lack of knowledge of the right key-words in English). I want to print the balance of transactions at the top and at the end of each page. As there is some grouping (departmens, account group and accounts) and then in front of the transaction-lines (flag = 2) of each group first some summary lines show up (flag = 1) it's not that easy as I thought.
Here's a verbal description of what I did so far:
defined global nubmverars in a formular-field in the report-header-section
added a formular-field for summing up the required fields and increment a counter for the detail-lines in the detail-section (only 6 or 7 transactions each page should be printed depending on if there's a balance from the last page or not)
adding sub-sections in front and after the detail-section that show the balance of the last page respectively the balance of the current page
both balance-sub-sections are suppressed if the flag of the data-row is not 2. the balance-sub-section at the top is suppressed if there's no balance
summary of each account should be directly printed if there are no more detail-lines of after the top-balance
a formular-field in the page-header-section should set the counter back to 0.
the balance-detail-sub-section at the bottom is printed, if counter = 7 (incl. top balance-sub-section) and a pagebreak is forced.
The big problem I encountered was that the counter was not resetted to 0 at the beginning of each page and it was also not evaluated in the section-setting area (where you can turn pagebreak on/off etc). In the section-setting-area only "WhilePrintingRecords" is allowed, but that doesn't help.
So how can I achieve this kind of report? Best would be a special field like RecordNumber giving the number of records printed on a certain page so far. Any suggestions?

I don't use You Tube but at least in Vimeo, their encoder sees something like this correctly.
Here is what I assume is what you did…
To change the aspect ratio of the image without changing the frame size (which is what you're showing) use the Trim function in the Transform>Crop options. You will lose some of the image in the re-framing.

I agree with Rick Dee, in addition, as far as I know， you probably fixing the issue by resizing the screen through the graphics cards firmware which actually makes a custom resolution on the screen so that you can view the entire image, but there is a setting
on most newer TV's called over scan which basically cuts the edges of the screen off for broadcast television but with a digital connection its not necessary. If you turn that off in the tv settings or if you put the screen format to pixle by pixle it should
resolve the issue permanently.
If the issue still occurs after you tried the suggestions I provided above, please check your TV zoom levels. You can also lower your laptop to 1280x720 to match your TV's res for the best picture.

Column headings top and bottom

In a report region, is there a way to have the column heading print at the top and bottom of the column?

The only way I know how to do it is via the "Named Column (row template)" report template. This report template is for when you know the number of columns returned from the query and want complete control over how the report is displayed.
If you'd like a good example of a Named Column report template, download the Aria sample application from the ApEx home page and view the report template which displays the profile of a person.
Perhaps there are other methods, but I don't any easy way of doing them via the templates.

Why does the top and bottom of my clips get cut off?

Hi, I'm new to iMovie and I've encountered an annoying problem. I imported all my movie files from my flash drive without any issues. I dragged a clip from the section with all the clips to the play reel. I previewed the clip, both normal screen and full screen, and both times the top and bottom of the clip was cut off. I tried it again with different clips but the same thing kept happening? Can anyone tell me why this happens because my head keeps getting cut off and I don't like it one bit.

First, you can go into File/Project Preferences and adjust the aspect ratio of your project to either widescreen (16:9) or standard (4:3), to match your footage.
You can combine footage that is widescreen and standard in the same project. In this case, you have to tell imovie how to handle the clips that do not fit the overall project aspect ratio. To do this, you can select a clip in your project and use the Rotate, Crop, Ken Burns Tool. If you select FIT, it will preserve the whole frame by inserting black bars (letterboxing). If you select CROP it will cut off the top and bottom. You can select the default for this in Project Properties.

Need a printer for both Tiger and Classic

I posted a question before (July 13) about trying to get my HP psc 1315 All-in-One to print from Classic applications when running Classic in OS 10.4.7 on my new pre-pentium G5. Now I just want to know if anyone out there knows if there is any All-in-One unit that I can buy that will print in both Classic and Tiger.
The problem seems to be that the new Mac is emulating OS 9.2 rather than just running 9.2 as a background system. Because of that, printer drivers will not mount in Classic -- at least that's what HP and Epson and Apple all tell me.
So if anyone can tell me of a reasonably priced All-in-One that will do what I want, I'd be extremely grateful.

If you don't want to buy any more hardware and have a printer connected to a desk top or laptop computer you could try printjinni. You would need to share the printer to make it available to the app (locate the printer in printers & faxes right click the printer and select share from the content menu)

How can I print the top and bottom halves of 11x17 PDF on 8.5x11?

I have a multi-page 11x17 PDF of quiz cards designed to be printed double-sided so that a question appears on one side and the answer on the other side. (Page 1 has the questions; page 2 has the answers.) My printer is 8.5x11 so I would like to print the top half of 11x17 page 1 onto 8.5x11 page 1 and the bottom half of 11x17 page 1 onto 8.5x11 page 2. Then I will flip the 8.5x11 pages over and repeat the process, this time printing 11x17 page 2.
Is there a way to print the top and bottom halves of an 11x17 PDF onto two 8.5x11 pages?

The easiest solution I know of requires you to have a copy of Adobe InDesign. You can easily layout PDFs within InDesign in the configuration you want and create a new PDF.
I don't know any way to print it directly in that layout, unfortunately.

Problems with hp laser printing in leopard- wired and wireless

Printing problems in Leopard are slowly eating away at my last nerve!
Here's the background: I have a Macbook Pro 2.33GHz Core 2 Duo, 4GB ram, running 10.5.2. Ever since I upgraded to Leopard, I've been having printing problems, both wired and wireless. I have an HP Laserjet 1160, which is a wonderfully reliable printer- I've had it since 2005 and have never had a problem.
When I installed Leopard, I began getting a popup message after starting up my computer and logging in. The message has a lighthouse icon on it and reads:
"Popup Error: Failed to listen for incoming Popup jobs. You will not be able to use Popup printing for the duration of this session. Please report this incident to a system administrator."
(for the record, I only have one computer, it's not on any system, and I have the administrator account)
Here are the two problems I have:
-First, wired printing is spotty. Half of the time, when I connect the USB cable and click print, nothing prints. Usually, if I unplug the cable and plug it into the other USB port, then printing works. This is in spite of the fact that the computer recognizes that the printer is there- I can delete then re-add the printer to my printer list and still nothing.
-Second, wireless printing does not work at all. Again, the printer is recognized when plugged in to either the time capsule or the airport express, and I can add the printer, but printing doesn't work: the job is sent to the print queue, but the queue stalls on the "connecting to printer" phase.
This problem is a huge pain, and I have no idea how to solve it. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks for posting this problem Cathjock. I have had the same issue with a NEC Superscript 1400. Thinking it wast he printer, which is getting up there in age, I went out and purchased a new HP P1505 to no avail. I have been researching this for a few days now and think that all of this is related to a user permission in CUPS. I have de-installed, re-installed, re-booted etc as prescribed and got three pages hours after the fact via my Airport Express connected new printer. Generally, however, nothing comes out immediately as was the case in the past either on Airport Express or via USB cable. I am stumped and am starting to get worried.
I can't print invoices for my business and am considering firing up my old Windows machine if you can believe it !
Seriously, Apple has created a monstrous situation with all of htese printing issues and nothing is apparently being done, nothing that I can find in any of the discussion forums at this time.
My last option is to re-install 10.5 with an archive and install as I really cannot afford to start from scratch.
Now if you look at this forum, there are 242,847 views logged with 2,514 questions and 13,848 messages.
This should mean something for Apple as many people need help and are getting really really ******-off.
So pleeeeaaaaase Apple. respond and offer a fix for this problem that is plaguing a ton of people.

Get rid of the white space at the top and bottom of the report when Printing as PDF document

Hello All,
I have a wider tablix report which is 29 inches wide. I have given the paper size as custom and width as 29 and height as 11 in report properties.I have deployed it and saved it as PDF document. When I print preview the report I am using the paper size as
tabloid (17 by 11) and selected the orientation as Landscape. I am getting the full report without any stripping but I am getting some extra space at the top and bottom when I print the report. Can anyone help me how to get rid of this space? . I checked the
margins for the report and it was 0in. Please help.

In Reporting Services (SSRS 2008), there are white spaces preserved in the report body by default. When the white space extends the body size beyond the width of the report, blank pages will be generated. To avoid the issue, you can set the “ConsumeContainerWhiteSpace”
property of the report to “True”.
Please try to adjust your margins (top + side) and hopefully this problem will get resolved
Body Width <= Page Width - (Left Margin + Right Margin)
Horizontal usable area:
X = Page.Width - (Left Margin + Right Margin + Column Spacing)
Vertical usable area:
Y = Page.Height - (Top Margin + Bottom Margin + Header Height + Footer Height)

How to remove web data from the top and bottom of my Ebay invoices so I can print them without it.

When I create my Ebay invoices, (which are generated through the browser in a new window) data is also generated at the top and bottom that I don't want to show on the invoice. The data is the date and time at the bottom, together with the page number, and at the top it shows the web location. In Explorer, you can remove this before printing but I can't work out how to do it in Firefox. Help please!

You can change that in Page Setup, choose the "Margins & Header/Footer" tab and chose "--blank--" instead of the data that you don't want it to appear.

I only print the top line and bottom line, content in middle doesn't print

When I print an email only the very top line at the top of the page prints and the very bottom line at the very bottom of the page print. For example the bottom line says page 1 of 1 and then on the other side the date and time. Top line has the web address. When I open internet explorer and print and email I have no problems. This just started out of the blue a few updates ago.

If there isn't a Page Setup in the Print Dialog, open Text Edit>Edit>Page Setup, check borders there or use Custom Page setup & save.

Elements 8 [Mac IOS 10.9]: 4 X 6" borderless printing -- top and bottom 1" are cutoff in Portrait and right and left 1 " are cutoff in Landscape

I am using Elements 8 [with a recently installed Mac IOS 10.9] and a new Epson Artisan 1430 printer . When I print 4" X 6" borderless photos, the top and bottom 1" are now cutoff in Portrait orientation and the right and left 1" are cutoff in Landscape orientation. I do not have the same problem printing from iPhoto. Epson tech support says this is not an Epson problem. Does anyone have any suggestions? Maybe I should just install Elements 12 and see if this might solve the problem. Any ideas?

When you have the problem, note the exact time: hour, minute, second.
These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

Photos sent to Kodak iPhoto print services CROPPED on top and bottom

What is the easiest way to avoid cropping of top and bottom of photos I send to Kodak print service? It is a 1019x2000 size jpeg photo, 320kb

This is a long and skinny photo. You may need to actually put blank space in to get them to keep the entire length of the long side, i.e., If you are printing a 4 x 6, your picture will be 6" on the long side and 3.06" on the short side. If you add .47" of blank space at the top and bottom, you will fill out the entire 4 x 6 inch photo with your 2000 pixel dimension on the long side.
(.47" is an extra 157 pixels top and bottom.)
