I understand that your MacBook Pro is not charging properly. According to the following article, this symptom may indicate that an SMC reset may be necessary:

After performing normal troubleshooting, these symptoms may indicate that an SMC reset may be necessary:
Power
The computer doesn't respond to the power button when pressed.
A portable Mac doesn't appear to respond properly when you close or open the lid.
The computer sleeps or shuts down unexpectedly.
The battery does not appear to be charging properly.
The MagSafe power adaptor LED doesn't appear to indicate the correct activity.
See the above article for steps on resetting the SMC, and what to do prior to the reset.
You may also find this as a good opportunity to reset the NVRAM:

Also, just noticed this now....i have it connected and its got no battery. It will shut off like it died (while connected to the laptop) and then after a few minuted it will turn on. with the battery icon saying "not charging"

Chances are your USB port is charging but only when the screen is off. This is e behaviour i get from our pcs.
Make a note of the battery level, plug it in and make sure the screen is off, after and hour check the battery level.
It should have charged a bit but very, VERY slowly.
Your computer port normally only delivers 500mha of power. Some modern macs deliver 1100mha. Anything less than 1000mha wont charge with the screen in.
The iPhone charge delivers 1000mha and the iPad charger delivers 2100mha.
So it not charging via the computer is normal.

The current provided by most USB ports on computers is not sufficient to charge the iPad. It may charge but the not charging icon will show, and the charge rate will be quite slow.

First ensure you are using a 10 watt/2 amp charger if you are not using the one included with the iPad. Then I would try a new sync cable. You can then test the charger by connecting another USB based device such as an iPod or iPhone to it to see if it charges. If the iPad is completely dead it may require some charge time before it will become responsive. If the sync cable and charger work fine with other devices you iPad is probably defective and requires repair.

the steps provided above helps you to remove the static charge stored on your computer. it may resolve several issue caused by static charge storage. however in your case it might be an issue with the battery connectors or the damaged AC adapter which is not providing enough power to charge the battery or power on the laptop or both.
please try with another AC adapter.

IPod wont charge when plugged in to PC

How come when I plug in my iPod to my pc via firewire (have no usb cord for ipod), it wont charge the iPod? Is there a patch to download for this? ITs a pain cause a full battery charge dies in like 30 minutes when Im working on it via iTunes. How in a world can I back it up if the battery dies on me not even halfway through the process. I downloaded the latest update.

Just another tip for anybody else interested.. Instead of buying a special product for this purpose, all you really need is an unpowered firewire hub. These can be found pretty cheap usually. A 4 port unpowered hub should only be $20.
Then you plug the computer into the hub, the iPod into the hub, and the iPod AC adapter into the hub. The AC Adapter turns the hub from an unpowered one into a powered one, and voila, it just works. Plus you have an extra port leftover for plugging something else in, like a DV Camera or a Firewire hard drive.
Cheaper than one of these power injectors, and works exactly the same way.

HP 625 Laptop - Only charges when turned ON...?

recently received an HP 625 laptop,
It has a charging fault or needs settings changed. Looking for opinions:
If using the laptop with battery only - works fine.
If battery gets low, to enable charging on the laptop the laptop must be switched on.
Used to laptops being able to charge when powered down.
Is this a feature, can it be changed? BIOS/Windows settings?
Any help would be appreciated.

Droid ultra wont charge when on since 4.4.4 update only carges when off

Worked just. Wife accidentally allowed 4.4.4 update. Phone now can only be charge when shutdown. I have already tried resetting the phone to no avail.

Z10 wont charge when plugged into chargor

This is my first post - i apologize if this has been answered - i looked through the postings and found one similar, but i didn't see how it was solved.
I have had a blackberry forever - love them... well, til this time - i have had this Z10 for approproximately 6 months - it seems to not charge when its plugged into the blackberry cable it came with. If i move the cable a bit, I can see using the blackberry monitor, that it is... but then it stops. This is total frustration. I am using the appropriate cable and spending countless minutes 'wiggling' the chargor and watching to make sure its charging.
Is anyone else having this issue? If so.. what can i do to fix it? Again, the phone is only 6 months old.

Try any other charger with a micro usb plug, if the same thing occurs, you may need to have the phones usb port replaced.

I assume that you are referring to the ipod being plugged into your Mac when charging. The Mac cannot be in "sleep" mode if you want to charge the ipod by plugging into USB. However the Mac can be in "sleep" if you plug into the Firewire port. The reason is that the FireWire port is powered while the USB is not when the Mac is asleep.
BTW you can charge via the USB 1 and not just USB 2. I have a 4G ipod that will charge when connect to my older iBook (2002 model) that only has USB 1.
