My HP and my Acer are both authorized for home sharing but nothing showing up under shared

So what should I do???
HP runs vista and acer runs windows XP

For home sharing to work, both computers have to have itunes open. And they both need to be logged in to the same itunes account.

If you need to authorize your new computer and are unable due to already having five authorized computers, you can deauthorize all computers by doing the following:
1. Click iTunes Store on the left side of iTunes.
2. If you're not signed in to the store, click the Account button, then enter your account name and password.
3. Click the Account button again (your Apple ID appears on the button), enter your password, and then click View Account.
4. In the Account Information window, click Deauthorize All.
Note: You may only use this feature once per year. The Deauthorize All button will not appear if you have fewer than two authorized computers. If you need assistance on using this feature, please contact iTunes Store support via email (http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store/).

It would help if you would describe what a 'broken' computer is. Did a truck run over it? Does it just not turn on? etc.

For a couple months now, every movie purchase through iTunes fails to transfer to my iPhone or iPad giving me the error: "some of the items in the iTunes library, including were not copied to the iPad because you are not authorized for them on this computer". I have read many forums about deleting, reinstalling, de-authorizing and authorizing my iMac through the iTunes store. Many suggestions don't work except to rename the movie to *.MP4 in Finder under the iTunes movie directory. I imagine this is a setting or a bug somewhere... any suggestions on how to bypass having to rename the files in Finder? My research into Google suggests this problem dates back to 2007 or so but it is now more prevalent than ever.

Yes. If you are using two different instances of iTunes on your computers, make sure the music is on both copies of iTunes.
The person with the new Apple ID will not "own" the music, as it is owned by the one with the former ID. But the way to deal with this is for the new ID person to do Store > Authorize This Computer from iTunes' menu, then have the person with the ID that purchased the music enter his/her Apple ID and password.

I have the same problem. It is only with tv shows and only with programs I have downloaded after the software update.
Apple support sent me the above link too....but it doesn't solve the problem...my computer is authorized and the content is in my library and will play on my Mac air, but it will not sync the tv shows, it keeps saying my computer isn't authorized for it.

Photostream only syncs photos over Wi-Fi, make sure you are connected to Wi-Fi to begin with.
Photostream only syncs when the camera app is closed, ensure it is closed.
Photostream only syncs when the battery is above 20%, try recharging the device
Try disabling photo stream on your device (settings > iCloud), restarting your device and then re-enabling photo stream.
If this doesn't help you may need to reset photo stream. You can do this at icloud.com by clicking on your name in the top right corner and then the advanced settings in the pop-up dialogue box that appears.
Note: disabling photostream and re-enabling it will result in any photos that are currently in the photostream album on your device, that are older than 30 days old, not being added back.

One workarwound is to do the following:
1. Remove the digital content from iTunes (but keep the files)
2. Rename all .m4v files to .mp4 files
3. Add the files back to iTunes
This seems to fix the problem for me

I was thinking that some of the songs in your library may have been purchased under a different apple id. You have already done the first thing I would have done by de authorizing and re authorizing. To verify this, highlight one of the songs that will not sync over and use File>Get Info. Here is the help menu link for it if you need it help://bookmark='https://help.apple.com/itunes/mac/11.0/help/index.html?localePa th=English.lproj#itns2937'
In the Summary section there will be an Apple ID entry. If it shows something different than what you are currently using then I recommend signing into the Apple ID it shows and authorizing the computer for that one as well.
