My HP computer saying my Windows 7 copy is not genuine
I have HP TouchSmart 610 desktop pc Windows 7 SP 1 and my windows OS was activated 2 years ago without any probem.
Several days ago a pop up alert started showing up saying "this computer isn't running genuine Windows."
An option exists to "resolve online now."
After clicking on that a message comes up saying "validation process cannot continue because your web browser may not be configured to run the required script." To continue with validation please do the following:
1. Click "Validate now" to run the alternate validation process [optimized for browsers unable to run original validation script.]
2. When prompted click Save, or run this program from its original location.
When I click "Validate now" the message says "What do you want to do with legitcheck.hta?"
size: 2.56KB from: www.microsoft.com
So I choose run this file and after open window from Microsoft - Install genuine Windows with this information -
Files that Windows needs to work properly have been modified, removed, or disabled. To resolve, you need to install genuine Windows.
I called today Microsoft Activation Center and Support - I give them COA code - They said that my OS windows 7 home - is OEM version - so I need to contact HP support with this problem.
I check Start/Computer/Properties/Windows Activation - and there is - Windows is Activated
I also clean up my pc using instruction from bleepingcomputer.com so there are no any viruses and my pc is clean.
Please help
John
This has been known to happen for some unknown reason and sometimes resolves itself after a couple of boots.

My computer says it can't copy some songs to my iPhone because my computer isn't authorized, but it is.
Hi Sonnova,
Do you happen to have more than one Apple ID? If you've authorised your computer using the one you're signed into then the most likely cause is that the iTunes purchases were made on another Apple ID.
To check you bought them on the Apple ID you're signed into, you can go into iTunes, click on Store and View My Account. From there you should have a Purchase History option where you can check the songs were bought on that account.
If you have another Apple ID then try to sign into that one (sign out of current one and into new one under Store in iTunes), then Transfer Purchases again and you should have no issues.
Hope this helps. -
I cant recover my computer to normal factory settings because of not genuine windows 7
1. 2CE9135QF4
NB049UA#ABA
2. not genuine windows 7... before that windows vista
4. i downloaded windows 7.
5. i cant restore back to windows vista, my recovery disk is empty but it says its full. it laggs to much and i think it fryed my video cardHere are the specs for your Compaq Presario CQ60-211DX Notebook Computer. According to the specs your system shipped with Windows Vista Home Basic SP1. HP states in its Upgrading to Windows 7 FAQs, that you should create a set of HP system recovery discs before upgrading the OS. If a problem occurs during the upgrade process, you can use the recovery discs to return your computer back to its original software configuration. Your recovery disk (partition) is most likely near full but the folders and files are hidden. It is likely that the link to the recovery partition was removed from your system during the upgrade to Windows 7. This HP Recovery Manager Installer Patch may help, if you did an upgrade and not a custom or clean install.
Did you create a set of HP Recovery Discs??? If not, you will need to order a set from HP.
Did you purchase a Genuine Windows 7 installation disc with COA and product key??? If not, you will need to purchase a Genuine copy of Windows 7 from Microsoft or a retailer.

Why does my computer say that its plugged in but not charging yet the battery is not reducing
it says plugged in, not charging, 99% (battery life)
but the battery life is not reducing & hasnt for 2 days. it just stays like that.

i have had a few weird occurences and im not sure what caused it. abruptly my speakers would stop working & my battery life would start reducing. that happened i think 3 times over the course of several months. this last time which was the 3rd is when i changed electrical outlets thinking that maybe that was the problem. and the power & speakers immediately went back to normal. its only been a few days since i changed outlets & everything is working as it should be however as mentioned the battery icon on the taskbar says that its plugged in but not charging & it remains at 99% for the last 2 days.Hi,
First of all, shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter, remove the battery, and then hold down the Power button for 30 seconds.
Now, plug in the AC Adapter without the battery inserted, start the notebook, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager, expand the entry for Batteries, right click on and the Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery and select Uninstall - do not uninstall anything else here. When the uninstall is complete, shut the notebook down, unplug the AC Adapter, re-insert the battery and then start the notebook on just the battery. Windows will automatically reinstall the driver - leave Windows running for a few minutes. Shut down the notebook again. Now plug in the AC Adapter ( with the battery still inserted ) and start the notebook to see if this has helped the charging issue at all.

Window is showing its not genuine, even though it is.
Hi,
I have a HP dv6-1206ee model that I bought about 3-4 years ago. It came with Windows Vista Home premius pre-installed and 1 year factory warranty and it has been working fine since I have had it, however now its asking me to validate windows and when i go for it then its saying cannot validate current copy.
When I run the Microsoft validation software I am getting the message
Validation Incomplete
The validation service is unable to determine whether this copy of Windows Vista is genuine.
I have made not a single change to any hardware or software and would like to know why this is happening and how it can be resolved.
This question was solved.

I can't get this HP Compaq PresarioCQ60 2CE927T6QQ to work. It shuts down, it won't start up past the login unless you wait hours and it slow and shutdown and bring me back to the login. I'm currently using it in safe mode. I've tried system restore about 4x and start-up repair about 2x. I've tried removing the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current Version\Schedule\TaskCache. And about to try other things!
I first got errors 0x80000ffff and 0x800700b7 withe the system restore failures. Then The Audio Service is not running and also found elsewhere that Windows Service not running and failed. Now I have Windows 7 Build 7601 This copy of Windows is not Genuine. Arghhhh! What caused this torture? How can I fix it without cost? I'm going to keep trying stuff until I get help.Hi,

what you are experiencing is not unheard of, part of the counterfeit protection on the MS OS involves taking note of certain aspects of the Hardware, including the hard drive, so changing the drive is VERY likely to trigger this reaction on part of
the OS.
All you need to do is to perform the validation process again, as you did when you initially installed the box (or initially used the box, if pre installed by manufacturer), using the same original windows key (you should have it in a label attached to the
box of the computer of in the supporting documentation of the purchase).
You can do this from "control panel" -> 'system security" -> "system" or by typing "
cscript slmgr.vbs /ato
in the command line (admin privs required in this command line)

Windows 7 copy did not come with a product key
I recently ordered a copy of window 7 home premium(OEM version) to use in a computer build I was doing. pardon my ignorance but up until i was asked I was unaware that I would need a product key to activate my operating system. I checked through my disc
case and the manual included with it and there is nothing about a product key. Also, my friend who also built a computer recently told me that he found his behind the disc in the case and that it was on a small piece of white paper, which i never had and of
course still do not. Does anyone know what I can do about this problem? i already have windows installed but it tells me i have 23 days to activate windows and forum searches tell me that once this time is up the potential problems will become a persistent
annoyance. Thank you to anyone who can shed some light my situation. :)Hi Guys,
I am afraid that this forum is not a correct forum for this issue. Since this forum is discuss about Windows form development. In my opinion, it is an issue regarding Windows 7
System activation. I suggested you to post this thread to

I have done all the troubleshoots and reset functions but my iPod shuffle is still not working. Every time I plugged my iPod it only shows red light that lasts for about 3 seconds and will disappear after some time. I've been using the same computer and laptop back then, and it stopped working since the last week of October.

Windows 7 Enterprise is not genuine after installing new hard-drive and cloning the old one
I retired from my job as a university professor two years ago, and they let me keep my laptop computer, which is a Dell Latitude E4300 with Windows 7 Enterprise installed. I do not have any of the original disks for Windows. Recently, the hard-drive began
to fail, so I replaced it with a new one, cloning the old hard-drive onto the new one. Soon after that, a popup window began appearing saying that this computer is not running genuine windows. One important consequence of this is that I can no longer use Windows
Update, so I have concerns about security. If I go to the control panel under “System”, it says windows is activated and gives me the Product ID. I have talked to tech support at Microsoft, and they tell me something along the lines of the following: that
the problem is the new hard-drive is not recognized as being licensed to use this copy of Windows, and that I should post a question on one of the forums asking this: How can I reinstall Windows 7 Enterprise on the new hard-drive? Any assistance will be much
appreciated.
PS I have no idea which forum this should go under, so pretty much just picked one randomly.Thank you for the reply. Below is the diagnostic report:

I am unable to open certain documents in Pages. A number of documents in Pages have the new logo and when I try to open it, I am prompted to update, yet my computer says Pages update is installed. Not sure how to get around this? Thanks
You are not on OSX 10.7.4, you are on OSX 10.9.
You have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
The newer Pages 5 in your Applications folder which can open the older Pages '09 but frequently alters/damages the file.
The older Pages '09 in your Applications/iWork folder which can not open the newer Pages 5 files.
You appear to be alternately opening one or the other.
Apple has removed over 90 features from Pages 5.

Best is to archive/trash Pages 5, after exporting its files back to Pages '09 versions, then rate/review it in the App Store, and get back to work.

I downloaded the AVG toolbar and search engine. My computer says it installed - only it does not appear when I open Firefox. For what is it worth, when I downloaded it on my Admin acct (same computer) it worked fine, but didn't transfer to my standard acct.
Hi myrt4sw,
The standard account may have a different profile? Once the avg is downloaded for the standard account, in the new style you can place the add on to the toolbar with the "Customize" option on the three horizontal line menu.
