Try downloading and running the Hardware diagnostic utility located here. It can resolve a lot on its own. If not it will give us a better idea of what is going on. Let us know the results.

Even if you have been using a surge protector/power bar all this time and you feel it is not the cause, please connect it to a wall outlet just so we can eliminate the power source as the root cause.     I juts bought a 61 xl ink cartridge for a deskjet 2050 but seems to be incompatible, any suggestions?
    Is it necesary to update the software?

    What country are you in?  The Deskjet 2050 has regionalized cartridges, if you are outside the US you may need a different cartridge number.
    According to the links from the site here the 61 XL cartridges should work in your printer.
    What exactly is the error message?  The document here may help address the issue.

  • The Adobe Print Engine has failed to output your data due to an unknown problem

    I am currently having a huge problem printing from indesign.<br />I am running CS3 on a hi spec 08 Mac Pro (10.5.2) connected to an Epson 3800 Stylus Pro A2 printer.<br />I keep getting the message <Printing Error: The Adobe Print Engine has failed to output your data due to an unknown problem>.<br />I have tried trashing the indesign preferences, I tried a new account... In fact I have just done a clean install of the entire OS. Just can't get it to print. I did have it printing on this machine before and the same document prints from my iMac.<br />The problem seems to be something to do with the print dialogue. If I print WITHOUT checking the Printer settings in the Print dialogue is sends to the print, but the output is shocking as the paper selection is not right and uses photo black not matt black.<br />When I DO check the printer settings and set it all correctly it gives me the <Printing Error: The Adobe Print Engine has failed to output your data due to an unknown problem>.<br />Anyone else had this or have any thoughts?

    I am seeing this error too, but I've narrowed it down to an isolated set of circumstances. My client has begun rolling out Active Directory integration with Macs on their network. Here are the specifics:
    -- Mac OS X 10.5.4, IDCS3 5.0.3
    -- Using the Directory Utility, Macs are bound to AD with using the mobile account option (user folder is cached locally on workstation, hosted on the network)
    -- The message immediately pops up after clicking 'Print' button in print dialogue.
    -- Printers are a couple of different versions of DocuColor (250 and 260) with Fiery RIP front ends. Print queues are hosted on an AD print server and listed as Open Directory under Kind in the Add Printer dialogue.
    -- Only IDCS and ILCS3 (13.02) exhibit this problem. PSCS3 (10.01), Acrobat (8.1.2) and Safari do not have the same issue, so it appears to be Postscript related
    -- Printers not going through AD (IP or BonJour enabled HP B&W lasers) print successfully when logged in via the networked user. Logging into a local admin account resolves the problem as well.
    -- This issue appears on freshly imaged machines, G5s and MacBook Pros, not just an isolated workstation. So its possible there is a problem with the source image, but it was created by another office and I'm just a consultant onsite at another location trying to sort things out. Other workstations still using Thursby's Dave software for file and printer access, running 10.4.11 do not exhibit same issues.
    -- The console output lists this error when ID fails:
    7/23/08 3:28:59 PM /Applications/Adobe InDesign CS3/Adobe InDesign CS3.app/Contents/MacOS/Adobe InDesign CS3[1374] passwordCallback: didn't find keychain item for "ipp://localhost/printers/DC01_Fiery250_5th";prompting for it
    I have created a keychain entry to match this with no success.
    -- None the suggestions in linked KB doc. resolve the issue. But that doc seems to be outdated as it references CS 1 and 2 versions of ID.
    So, has anyone seen the same issues? AD integration appears to be the common thread, but I cannot find the cause.

    I have run the print/scan doctor, alignment and cleaning options. The printer engages as it is printing but there is no ink on paper. Cartridges seem clean and fresh ink will come out of cartridges. Unable to print color or black ink. Thank you in advance

    I see that you are having an issue with the printer not printing black of coloured ink.
    First off, please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Please click on the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
    I have also located a document that deals with Fixing Ink Streaks, Faded Prints, and Other Common Print Quality Problems.

  • HP 3IN 1 Deskjet 2050-scanning problems.

    Hello.  I have a  3 in 1 HP Deskjet 2050 H510 printer.  It has always been a relaible printer.  Today, I decided to use it as a scanner.  I  downloaded the approprite software, scanned, and sent it off.  All was well, BUT the machine will not release the original job, so that I may use it for another scan or printing operation.

    I noticed that your HP Deskjet 2050 H510 printer will not release the original scan job. I am happy to help you with this scanning issue!
    For further assistance, I will need to know the following:
    If you are using a Windows or Mac Operating System, and the version number. To find the exact version, visit this link. Whatsmyos.
    If the printer is able to make copies by itself.
    If the power cable is plugged into a surge protector, or directly to the wall outlet. Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector. This applies to Inkjet printers as well.

  • Printer start-up problem. HP Deskjet 2050 All-in-One J510 series. Part# CH350A

    Whenever I first turn on printer it immediately prints a page and says I need to scan the page and realign it.  Also, the colors are somewhat faded looking.

    If the unit is printing an alignment page on each start up, then the unit is failing to align.  If the unit fails to align, then it will attempt to do so on the next start up.  Do you get an alignment failed message on the computer screen?
    I would advise following the steps in the document linked below to troubleshoot this condition in your Deskjet 2050 J510 series All-in-One.

  • Acrobat X Pro doesn't see HP Deskjet 2050 scanner

    I'm running OS X 10.6.7. Recently installed an HP Deskjet 2050 all-in-one printer / scanner. Both are working fine, however Acrobat X Pro (v. 10.0.2) doesn't recognize the scanner, so I'm unable to create PDFs from it. The printer driver is up to date.
    I saw in the forum that there is a similar problem with Acrobat 9, there said that the same has been fixed in Acrobat X. However, I'm still having this problem and I don't know how to fix it. The Acrobat online help is very poor, didn't find support for scanners.
    Solutions, comments, suggestions? Thanks in advance!!

    I'm not really sure there's anything you can do. I have a low-end HP all-in-one printer/scanner (got it free when I purchased an iMac). I wasn't even expecting to scan to PDF. But when I brought up the File > Create > Scan from PDF, it was just there. There was no special installation required. It was just a scanner driver that Acrobat X Pro could recognize. I guess all I can suggest is looking for other HP printer/scanner drivers or calling HP Support.

  • Apple IMac 27 has a problem. Random black screen. Over 1 year without any fix

    Apple IMac 27 has a problem.
    Random black screen.
    Over 1 year without any successful fix.
    IMac 27 10.8.4 (12E55) - bought in 2010
    3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    4GB 1067 Mhz RAM
    Graphics ATI Radeon HD 4670 256 MB
    The IMac computer screen goes black randomly but the machine still running beyond.
    In order to go back to normal i need to awake the computer by hitting with the pointer a hot corner previously created " sleep mode" ( top left ).
    ..the black screen would come back after one second again..and then again and then again and then again..with different intervals..sometime 2 seconds after the other, sometime as soon as appears the user login screen.
    I took the machine to an Apple Store two times over one year, they opened, cleaned it but they didn't replace anything has they could not understand what they real problem was. I was happy for that because they didn't try to make me spend money on something which was not going to solve my issue for sure.
    Last time i kindly asked them to inspect everything meticulously, part by part, i left the machine with them for over 2 months. They couldn't understand why this was happening..after couple of weeks, 5 more machines came in with the same problem.
    On some of them., upon request of the client they changed the graphic card but apparently this was not the fix, the problem come back again. Apparently changing the graphic card or the screen or else it didn't solve any problem to anyone. I'm almost thinking to "trough it out of the window"..we all spend money for this machines and i think we need to know if Apple is looking in to this or not.
    Lately i tried to do an SMS RESET and PRAM RESET, it feels it got better a little but problem still coming back.
    Also, all usb  devices are disconnected and the problem still there

    I'm now thinking to try to take the machine to its original firmware and see if it still does it, does anyone have any sugestion?
    I use a lot photoshop and other image software, this computer is essential for my work. For more then one year this issue caused me problems.
    Luckly i have a Macbook Pro too and i managed to do some of my work there. At last I was thinking to buy an external screen and attach it to the Macbook pro in order to work on my big images. But who wants to spend money again!!!???? This is not a fixture, this is silly. I wish to have my IMAc working again.
    The warranty it's obviously over and this problem happened right after the warranty was over...
    I write this post because i'm so tired of this issue and online nothing can be found apart from posts from so many people that have the same problem and no fixture has been found.
    The only fixture seams to be to buy a new computer... Ole'!!!..new money flowing in in the cashier!! forget it!!! i would rather change company if apple doesn't respond to this.
    For over 10 years i have been a Apple owner..
    When this problem appears it's like someone it's playing a joke at you...

    Hi, I've seem to have found out the source of the problem.
    The issue is related to heat, and an iMac 27" gets hot pretty fast.
    If I boot the iMac straight after first start into Windows 7 I seem to get a lit built-in display at all times. I can also boot OS X first and then into Windows 7 and the built-in screen get lit every time as long as the iMac isn't hot.
    Strange thing is that the monitor connected to the display port gets lit every time. So I can only assume that the heat only interfere with output to the built-in LED screen.
    So this iMac is going to an Apple premium reseller for service, and I'll tell you guys how it went.

    I bought an iMac a week ago and installed Firefox via Safari. It worked fine for a while but, after a recently switching on, it won't connect to the web whereas Safari has no problems.
    I've tried following the Firefox Help, looking into the iMac firewall, but still no luck.
    I've no idea whether related or not but yesterday I had a system glitch where the iMac stated no wi-fi was installed and only connected via a physical lead to my house router. Also, there was no sound output via Safari. However, after booting up today all seems well – apart from Firefox still not working. It loads the start page but can't access the web.
    I have Little Snitch running, and wonder if that's the culprit... but it's working fine with Safari, seemingly.
    (Finally, how do I stop a dialogue box appearing on start-up saying that "To open “X” you need a Java runtime. Would you like to install one now?)

    On the wireless networks that your Mac has had trouble connecting to, do you know which Wireless Security type (WEP, WPA, or WPA2) is being used?
    If it is WEP, one of the problems is that the actual standard relies on a 10 character HEX key for 40bit WEP and a 26 character HEX key for 128bit WEP.   In order to make things easier, vendors use certain algorithms to convert simple alphanumeric passwords (or passphrases) into HEX keys, thus enabling the use of simple easy to remember WEP password rather than lengthy HEX keys. The problem is that different vendors use different algorithms to generate the HEX key and therefore a ASCII password on an AEBS will be hashed differently on a non-Apple client and vice versa.   You may find the following Apple Support article helpful.

    Hi Oto,
    In India you should buy both the Black and Color 802 HP ink cartridges, then you should contact HP support and reset the printer for your region:
    http://www8.hp.com/in/en/contact-hp/phone-assist.html#section1
    Be aware that by resetting the printer for India only the 802 ink cartridges will be accepted by the printer unless you will reset it back for another region in the future, as well be aware that this process is limited and cannot be done more than 2-3 times for the device.

  • PPro CS4 - ImporterProcessServer.exe has encountered problem, unknown error

    Hi,
    I'm using XP SP3, RAM 3GB, CS4 Master Collection Trial Version 30 days.
    New comers CS5 is in 64 bit, so is not our option, our PC only 32bit.
    We going to buy CS4, but seems during product assesment not so impresive.
    During Exporting/Encoding video, import from mix .swf, .jpg, .avi. but most of time came out error message "ImporterProcessServer.exe has encountered problem ... ". Check on log file Unknow Error

    - Preset Used: NTSC Source to High Quality Download

    - Bitrate: Compressed, VBR, 2 Pass, :0, Avg 1500.00 [kbps]
    - Encoding Time: 00:06:45
    5/20/2010 5:40:09 PM : Encoding Failed
    Error compiling movie.
    Unknown error.
    I have look thru the previous posts, but I still not sure what is the real problem, H/W spec problem, Windows problem, or CS4 Trial problem?
    From prev post I conclude some posibilities:
    Need to troublehost, http://premierepro.wikia.com/wiki/Troubleshooting
    CS4 more problem, downgrade CS3 is option, CS3 no problem
    Windows C++ problem, need to reformat.
    etc.
    If we have to thoubleshot then problem, I just need to edit the video.
    So should we proceed to buy CS4? Otherwise will try other product.
    We have 2 general around, Gen. Bill Hunt and Gen. Harm Milaard, hope can give enlightment.
