My HP eprint Envy 4500 and ChromeBook 11 can't communicate together

Hi, anyone kindly help me to connect my Chromebook 11 with my new HP Envy 4500.
I already registered with HP but still can't connect my printer to Google using Google Cloud Print.
I am a beginner so please explain as simple as possible what steps to do.
Thank you very much

  • Envy 4500 and Windows 10

When Windows 10 came out, I upgraded it.  Everything worked fine except for the printer.  The scanner worked fine.  I called HP technical support and they could not solve the problem.  Is the problem that the driver is not compatible to Windows 10?  If this is the case is there any time frame on when this may be fixed.  I had to revert back to Windows 7 because the printing is essential for me, and I love my envy 4500. Please let me know what you all think.

Hello , I was able to find a Windows 10 driver for your Envy 4500. You could try the download page first; HP ENVY 4500 e-All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Drivers. If it doesn't work, you could try this direct download link.  Please let me know if any of these steps resolved your issue, or if there is anything else I can do to help.  I look forward to hearing from you! Thanks,

  • HT1600 I just bought a mac for close to $4500 and I can't use air play.

So now I am told that this wonderful machine needs an app like Air Parrot to make it work ??? Apple sort your stuff out and make it work please. Very Frustrating...!!!

The technology for AirPlay lies in the computers processor, the Mac Pro uses a different processor to other Macs.

  • AppleTV and iChat: can they work together?

Right now when I use iChat, I hook my the video out of my laptop up to my HDTV and the audio to my stereo. So far it's worked great.
I was hoping that AppleTV would let me do that a bit more easily. Does anyone know if that will be possible with AppleTV

    Hi James,
It will depend on whether it is software on the TV that calls the Computers iTunes and iPhoto libraries or whether it is just a point to plug the Computer to something that can display on a TV screen.
I am reading it as the latter.

  • IPhoto and iDisk Can They Play Together?

    Hey All,
I want to start backing up my iPhoto library using iDisk.
I can not find a way to create a shortcut in the iDisk folder to my Pictures folder.
What is the easiest way to backup my iPhoto library in iDisk without doing it manually.
    Thanks!

About the only way I can think of doing it is to make an Automator workflow. On the other hand, you could just backup the Originals folder from you library to the iDisk and for that you can use an application like Transmit which will mount the iDisk (enter password, etc.) and then, when you click on run it will compare the Original file in your library to the one on the iDisk and copy only those new files. Transmit will copy files to the iDisk faster than you can in the Finder. There are other backup applications that can do incremental backups.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • For 3 years my iMac and miniMac both communicated with a Canon printer and the internet using an Airport Extreme.  Last winter, the miniMac lost printing via the Airpor and now can't communicate with the network at all.

For three years my iMac and Mac mini were networked via Airport Extreme with a printer and the internet.  More recently, I added an iMac and iPhone.   PROBLEMS:  A few months ago the Mac mini lost its connection to  the printer, and now it cannot locate the network at all.

If you use the extreme as a router then the tc should be connected via its wan port to one of the lan ports on the extreme. Tc should be set up in bridge mode. Basically you could set it up to create another wireless network beside the one created by the extreme. There is no need to use WDS or extend the other network.
Use the same SSID and password for both machines. Computers will connect to the strongest signal.

  • Can no longer scan with the HP Envy 4500

I can no longer scan documents with the HP Envy 4500.  When I try to scan it times out and I receive the following error message:
"Scanner communiocation cannot be established. Ensure your product is powered on, check the connection, and ensure your network is functioning properly. If these conditions are correct, restart the product and try scanning again." I use a wireles connection to the HP Envy 4500 and it is working fine as I can print documents with no issues. I ran the HP Print and Scan Doctor and it flagged the issue as a potential problem with the device driver. I uninstalled the HP software and downloaded the latest version from the HP site, installed it, and tha did not correct the problem. At this point, I am not sure what else to try and correct the problem. Any suggestion would be much appreciated.

Thanks for getting back to me
If the printer will not make copies, the unit may have a "Scanner Failure", unfortunately, and resetting the router, or computer troubleshooting would not make a difference.
You can try a power reset on the printer, to see if that will help:
    Power reset the printer:
Press the Power button to turn on the product.
With the product turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the product.
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
    Wait at least 15 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the product.
If the product does not turn on by itself, press the Power button to turn it on.
You can also try using a different wall outlet to see if this makes a difference.
If the problem continues, contact HP's Technical Support directly to discuss your printer replacement options, as you would require a new printer if there is a Scanner Failure.

  • HP ENVY 4500: Wirelesss Setup Will Not Recognize Correct Password!

I recently attempted to establish a wireless connection for a HP ENVY 4500 and I could not get the printer to accept the CORRECT wireless network password.  This is the second such printer like this that I have set up and I have one
    additional one to go.
Going through the onscreen wireless setup provesss, I found the network (SSID) name okay.  Repeated attempts of entering the correct password failed with error messages indicating the password was not recognized.  The password has upper case/cap letters, lower case letters, numbers and common keyboard characters all of which were found on the printer's password input panels.  I even tried the modem/router's original default password and it did not work.
The only difference between my last printer set up and this one is a different type of internet service (formerly cable, later DSL, and the modem/router control panels look differently).  On the current DSL modem/router, I am using the default security settings.
I know most readers of this posting will think I must not be entering the password correctly but I am.  I have paid attention to every proper character of the password especially caps.  I was able to connect other devices to the wireless network with no problem.
Does anyone have any suggestions for trouble-shooting?  Thanks and I look forward to your responses.

I share your concern about WPS as it is easy to crack and doesn't take long to retrieve the network key.  Making matters worse, even turning it off on some routers doesn't disable the vulnerability.  That is the case with every Linksys router I've checked.  But you can connect by WPS and then turn it off.  If it is not a Linksys router you will probably be ok and even if it is a Linksys router you are no worse off than you were before.  The WPS attack is a brute force attack and takes some time (in the hours category which is relatively quick for a brute force attack) so leaving WPS on for a few minutes is pretty safe.  Another thing came to mind after reading your post, are you sure you have the right SSID?  If there are many people nearby and you used a common or default SSID name like "Linksys", then the printer may not be connected to the network you think it is.  The other thing I would recommend is changing the wireless channel used by the router but to do that you would need access to the router's EWS which it sounds like you do not have.  You might want to ask Century Link about how to access it.  I can't image not being able to access the router on my home network.  You might want to ask them for options.  Router's are cheap.  I would buy my own if the ISP wouldn't give me access to the one they provide.  Let me know how it goes.

  • HP ENVY TouchSmart & HP ENVY 4500 e-All-in-one-Printer

My HP ENVY 4500 e-All-in-one-Printer has been installed & uninstalled twice.  It is presently uninstalled.  When you first install & print test is prints from my HP ENVY TouchSmart w/Windows 8.1.  After the initial installation is tells me its offline.  I have this same printer installed on an older laptop running Windows 7 & it prints perfectly every time.  I run a test result paper on my printer and it tells me there are NO PROBLEMS found.  So, it has to be my laptop.
I have looked at every help page I can and have tried everything it says will fix it included the HP Doctor and nothing works.
I ask our tech guy at work and he is also puzzled.  I am no where near a tech so I would really appreciate your assistance.
    Thank You!

    Hi NittanyLions1,
I would like to help you with this conundrum. From your description, it sounds like the software is installing properly but tells you the printer is offline. This sounds to me like a communication issue. You mentioned that you have another Envy 4500 and it works fine with an older laptop running Windows 7. What operating system is on the computer you are trying to use this printer with, and are both of these printers on the same network or is the other one with the Windows 7 in a different location?
While I wait to hear back from you, please complete the solutions offered in the following document; 'Printer is offline' Message Displays on the Computer and the Printer Will Not Print.
    I hope this helps.

  • About HP envy 4500 printing for both sides for mac os x 10.9.4

I got the printer recently. I have installed the lastest software and set up air print successfully. I was trying to print out mt notes for both sides of the paper but I did not see the " print both sides" option. I looked up the old post in the forum and tried to follow the set up step by step, but it is still not working. Can anyone tell me how to set up the both sides printing option.
    Thank you so much.

    Hi @chloe_chie,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand that you are wondering how to print on both sides with your HP Envy 4500 on your Mac OS X 10.9.4, and I am happy to help!
Please make sure that the correct driver has been selected on the Mac. Meaning, it should read HP Envy 4500, not the Airprint driver.
To do this go to the Apple Icon, System Preferences, then Print & Scan and look for the images below:
Once we have verified that we have the correct driver selected, then please follow through this guide, Printing on Both Sides of the Paper (Duplexing) for HP Deskjet 3540, 4640, ENVY 4500, and Officejet ....
Hope this information helps, and have a nice day!

  • HP Envy 4500 prints only half of each document

    Hi,
Brand new HP Envy 4500 and brand new laptop running Win 8.1 64. All printer drivers up to date. Static IP assigned to printer. Printing over Wi-Fi.
I have seen many threads saying the same thing and no answer as yet.
Please can you provide some answers?
Some documents print 2 + pages before stopping. Some just print half the first page. Printer says "cancelling" before stopping.

Steve give HP a call  at 800-474-6836 for more options.

  • Envy 4500 has stoped scanning

Ok Here goes ... have been previewing all posts related to this issue and have tried all(most) recomended fixes.  Scan doctor stops at Driver scan and says "the scan driver is unable to communicate with the product" Rebooting does not help, Reinstalling software does not help. Starting and stoping processes in the system.msc app does not help. Is there a firmware update available or is the device just flaky? btw tried running software on a windows 7 machine and no go. Nor did hooking printer up with a usb cable. Printer runs fine which is frustrating as this does not appear to be a hardware issue but software/firmware related. Have tried using my browser to access the scan function and I get a "the device is busy" messagePlease help

Hi  I saw your post regarding the problems you are having with scanning. I think I may be able to help you further.
I just wanted to confirm that the printer can copy without issue, correct? HP does regularly release firmware updates, you can click on this link to Get Printer Updates for HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 3540, 4640, HP ENVY 4500, and HP Officejet 4630 e-All-in-One Printer Series, to ensure your printer has the most up to date firmware.  Do you know if you are able to scan using Paint? To Scan from Paint: HP Multifunction Printers - How to Scan: Windows 7Click the Windows icon (), click All Programs, click Accessories, and then click Paint.Click the Paint button (), and then click From Camera or Scanner.Make any desired setting changes, and then click Scan.
To Scan from Paint: HP Multifunction Printers - How to Scan: Windows 8Right-click the Start button () in the lower left corner of the screen, click Search, and then type Paint.Click Paint in the results.Click File, and then click From scanner or camera.Select your printer, click OK, and then click Scan.  Also security software installed on your computer is designed to protect your computer against threats but can sometimes block communication between devices and can cause problems when using your printer or installing software. A quick troubleshooting technique is to disable your firewall/anti-virus and see if the problem goes away. Remember to re-enable your security afterwards. You can see the category 'Specific security software and firewall vendor information' from this site; Security Information and Firewalls if you need more information about your security software.   If you could let me know the results of these 2 steps (scanning from paint and scanning with your security software disabled,)  I would be able to help you further. I look forward to hearing from you!   Thanks,

  • Envy 4500 "Scanner Problem"

I just purchased an HP Envy 4500. It connects to my home WiFi network and prints just fine from Mac and PC computers, iPads and iPhones. However, ever since we opened it it has repeatedly said this when we try to scan: Scanner problem:Turn printer off and then on. If the problem is not fixed, the scanner component is broken and cannot copy or scan. Here are the things I've done to try to see if I can fix the problem that did NOT work:-Turn Envy 4500 off and on several times-Unplug Envy 4500 and plug it back in-Go through the steps on the "HP Print and Scan Doctor Download page"-Download and install the "HP Print and Scan Doctor 4.2" software and follow instructions until it said "The tool was unable to resolve the problem, even after a restart. Go to HP Customer Care for help resolving the issue"-Go to HP Customer Care and check all resources there with no luck At this point I'm assuming the Envy 4500 is defective and needs to be replaced. However, if there is something else I can do to try to fix it before exchanging it I would like to do that. Any advice on how to proceed is greatly appreciated.  Mike [email protected]

Thanks for the response. I have tried scanning a few different ways... Every time I try to scan via typing the Envy 4500 IP address in the browser (after enabling webscan in the admin settings) it  gives me the following error in yellow text: The printer is busy. Try again later. It says this even though it is not processing any other jobs and the unit is on. If I try to scan from the HP Utility on my Mac (after successfully connecting to the Envy 4500) running the current version of OS X 10.9 I get an error that says: Communications ErrorUnable to communicate with device. Check cables and connection settings. If the problem persists, try restarting your computer and the HP device. If I try to do a test scan in the "Scan to computer " section of the utility within preferences it says: Error testing shortcutThere was an error testing shortcut "Photo (Jpeg)" If I try to scan from the "HP Scan" window of the utility I get the following error: Scanner reported an errorHP Envy 4500 is currently unavailable. Please check if it is turned on and connected, or try again later. After all of these errors I've tried restarting the Envy 4500, unplugging and plugging back in the Envy 4500, and restarting my computer and trying these methods all again with no luck.   It's also worth mentioning that after all these attemps I still get the same error on the LCD display of the unit when starting it up or going to the scan section: Scanner problem:Turn printer off and then on. If the problem is not fixed, the scanner component is broken and cannot copy or scan. Is there anything else I can try or is this unit defective and needs to be exchanged for a working model?

  • HP Envy 4500 will not print after trying everything

Hello, I have had this printer for about a year now. It has been working fine but all of a sudden it won't print from any computer any more. I know my computers are connected to the same wifi as the printer but it cannot ever locate the printer. I have rebooted the wifi, the computer and the printer, turned the wifi on the printer off and on, followed several HP forums detailing 12 ways to fix it and nothing works. I recently downloaded an updated software for the printer, and while installing it, I have to select a device. It doesn't show up and when specifically finding it manually, it says the device is not reachable. I am at my wit's end!! Any help would be appreciated. I'm pretty frustrated with this printer. Thanks for your help,Rachel.
