  • P6N Diamond X-Fi Xtreme, back audio jack not working after windows reinstall

    Hi everyone,
I've been having a problem with audio since reinstalling windows. Previously under windows xp sp3 i had no issues but after the most recent reinstall of windows xp, the rear jacks for the audio aren't working despite the front headphones jack working perfectly fine. Since this was only a short term measure, i didn't bother trying to sort it out until now, when I've now installed windows 7 on the computer and the issue still exists.
I'm using the latest driver available on the msi website http://www.msi.com/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=driver&maincat_no=1&prod_no=1168 and I have also tried using the audio driver patch available on the same page.
The fact that there were no problems before a recent windows reinstall and that the issue is mentioned on the driver download page makes me think the problem is with the drivers and not with the hardware.
I searched through the forums and while a fair few people seem to be having the same issue or similar issues with audio jacks not functioning properly, i couldn't find a relevant solution for me.
    Cheers,
    Dave

Yep that sounds exactly like my problem. The issue lies with the on board soundcard and their vista drivers. Creatives' vista drivers are notoriously bad. This coupled with the fact their drivers won't even INSTALL on a p6n board because their drivers do not detect the onboard soundcard adds to the problem. As far as I see it there are two ways to solve this issue:
1.) Buy a front audio panel addition to your case.
I am not sure on your setup but here is one with HD audio support: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813999356
And that will fix your back panel port, and give you the option to use the front as well.
    2.) Buy a new soundcard.
This is what I did after learning that the onboard x-fi isn't even a real x-fi card. I opted to buy the X-Fi gamer (cheapest of the X-Fi cards) and so far the drivers have been acceptable in vista. My non-hd front ports work, as well as my back port.
Another alternative would be to wait for MSI to release an update to the creative drivers that they provide. No guarantee on that though.

  • P965 Neo-F audio jacks not working.

I've been having serious issues with the audio jacks on the P965 Neo-F board.  I have actually tried two boards, convinced the first board was defective since my speakers worked fine on other computers.  On both the current board and the last board, I did a complete clean XP install, formatting my hard drives and installing the latest RealTek HD drivers (5.10.0.5404 dated 4/23/2007, from MSI).  The first board never so much as peeped, while the board I have now has made some sounds, although I honestly don't know why.  On this board, I had a set of Altic Lansing 2.1 speakers, but because the speakers would pop and make static noises every now and again, generally only if I bumped one of the small stereo speakers or wiggled the cords on the back of it, I thought perhaps the problem was the speakers being old.
On the current board, I tested a monitor that has speakers in it, and there was no sound.  RealTek's sound manager, which I have installed, did not recognize that there was anything plugged into the jacks even though I had a line in, microphone, and line out plugged in.  When it did recognize the lino out, it also recognized the microphone.  However, it only recognized them for no more than a minute.  The new speakers (also Altec Lansing 2.1) made one squeak for less than a second; other than that, there has been no sound at all.
I've tried several different RealTek HD drivers from MSI, Microsoft, and RealTek, but none have made any difference.  I've enabled and disabled only to re-enable the audio device through BIOS with no success.  I've checked the volume, DxDiag, and played music--Winamp and iTunes are both making sound, but no sound is coming out.
I'm pretty much out of ideas here.  The only thing I can think to do is get a sound card, but I don't see why I should have to do that when I'm not an audiophile and the board jacks should suit me fine.  I am quite at my wit's end with this, and would appreciate any help I can get.

It recognizes that I pluged something into the microphone jack but can't get the microne to work.
This problem usually has to do with the fact that the computer case used, or to be more precise: its front panel audio connectors are not fully Intel HD Audio compliant.  Disable the Automatic Front Panel Jack Detection Function in the Realtek HD Audio Manager and retry.
If your mic still does not work as it should, browse through the Realtek Program Folder and look for an executeable file named "miccal.exe".  Run it to calibrate your microphone.  Also, enable "Microphone boost" in the Mixer-tab of the Realtek configuration program. The top half part of the mixer Tab ("Playback") can be scrolled to the left via <> buttons.  Scroll left and localize the input jack your mic is plugged into (example:  "Rear Pink In").  Click on the Options button and enable microphone boost.
    Quote
When I go into the mixer settings I can't adjust adjust any of the inputs - cd, mic, line etc. Although it shows places for a sliding volume adjusters but doesn't show a slider to be able to adjust the volumes of the inputs.
That is totally normal and not a problem.  It is basically a limitation of the Realtek HD Audio Driver in combination with Windows XP.  It has nothing to do with the board.  Here is an Asus-example:
There is nothing wrong here.  If you scroll through that output devices/jacks in the Mixer tab of the Realtek HD Audio Manager, you will find that you can adjust the input/output volume for each audio jack individually.  Doesn't make sense to adjust input volume in the output section?  Well, ask Realtek which genius designed the interface and ask him personally.

  • Presario R4000 Laptop Audio Drivers not working

So, I've got this older Laptop, the Compaq Presario R4000.
It was giving me a really hard time with software with the original OS and stuff, so I decided to format it and install my own Windows XP Professional on it, as opposed to the Compaq-ware filled XP Home that was already on it.
So I formatted, installed Windows, and found the driver page for it.
I Flashed the BIOS despite the fact that I don't think it was necessary, but I wasn't sure.
I installed the graphics drivers no problem.
Installed the wireless device drivers, though not sure if these are working, but it's not significant.
What is significant however, is that the Audio Drivers provided on the site do not work at all. I looked for other drivers, looked for other driver versions for the OSs and various other Presario models, but nothing has worked.
I don't know what the problem is. I'm really hoping someone is able to help!
    Thanks in advance.
    Error Message:
BTW, I should mention what the error message I'm getting is.
A command window pops up running the following command:
    c:\swsetup\SP29873>start /min \swsetup\audio\setup.exe /s
I tried fiddling with the batch file that was running these commands to see if that would help, but it doesn't.
Still always get the same error message:
"Windows cannot find '\swsetup\audio\setup.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the Start button, and then click Search."

I have the same error message, have you figured it out yet? If yes, please tell me what you did <text deleted> Thanks

  • Audio Jack not working on iPhone 6 plus

I  have had my Iphone for about 4 days now and just the other day I found out that my audio jack does not work. I plugged my headphones in and instead of the music playing through the headphones it just continues to play through my speakers. I have tried several different headphones and I have even tried plugging an AUX cord into it while I was in my car and still nothing. Has anyone else encountered this same issue and if so have you found a way to fix it? Or is this something that I need to fix by taking it to my local apple store?

Given that it is practically out of the box, you should take it in and make it Apple's problem. They should fix it, replace it or refund you for a new one that works.

  • Headphone and other audio jacks not working on msi GT 70

I was wondering if anyone could tell me why the headphone jack isn't working properly on my new laptop.  When I plug them in it only works in one ear and the onboard speakers still play.  Also nothing pops up from realtek when I plug them in.  I have already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the newest version of realtek.
I have been having a heck of a time with the graphics cards.  It will not default to the Nvidia GTX 670MX when I am in a program such as adobe premiere pro or photoshop.  I went into Nvidia and changed the certain programs that I wanted to run the Nvidia card - still wont run off of it.  I changed the global setting to Nvidia - still nothing.  Finally I just disabled the intel driver in the device manager.  It works fine now except exported video is very glitchy on the players.  It plays the videos fine when I enable the intel driver again.
I guess I can live with the graphics card problems, but can't live without the headphones working.  Any help is greatly appreciated
    Thanks

be sure everybody has same problem https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=180629.0 or https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=180690.0 I found a way if you had new nvidia driver delete nvidia sound driver after delete your msi sound driver after reboot , install your msi sound driver it will be normal but if not try first msi driver after nvidia with beta or new sound driver if still not use realtek new drivers but dont forget delete nvidia sound driver , but you should always repeat it , msi couldnt fix this problem just offer to use old driver and old nvidia driver

  • Rear Audio Jack not Working on New Mac Pro

    Hello All,
Here's the deal. I just pursuaded my company to buy a brand new Mac Pro to run FCP Studio 2 as a test run to see if they perform well enough to eventually replace our remaining PC's. We've had the Mac Pro for less then two weeks and I'm running into an issue that I can't resolve, and I don't want to fall on my face. The rear Audio input jack keeps failing. Meaning sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't when speakers are plugged into. The jack on the front works fine, but the rear jack doesn't appear to recognize the speakers after the computer is shut down then restarted. You have to restart the computer 2 or 3 times before the speakers start pumping out sound. Which in all honesty is extermely dissappointing to me. And if I have to bring this thing in to get serviced, my boss will not move forward with buying anymore Mac Pro's, which I'm working hard to make happen.
    Please help me out.

  • Built In Audio jack not working for Guitar

I'm using Garageband 6.0.2 with my new MacBook Pro.  I have a guitar plugged into my amp, and from my amp into the audio input jack on the MBP. I have the settings set to use the Built-In Input, but it doesn't pick up any sound from my guitar when I play; it's using the built-in microphone instead. (and yes, I'm using the Electric Guitar Track). All my cables are good, my amp is good, I've tried multiple different settings to make sure I'm not overlooking anything, and everything's fine until I try to get some sort of signal from the Built-In Input. It just insists on using the microphone.
I've succesfully used Garageband plenty on my last MacBook Pro, but this one just doesn't seem to want to cooperate. Can anyone please help troubleshoot this?

I am using GarageBand 5.1, but this should work with newer versions.
I recently put together a simple Garageband electric guitar setup.  Here are the steps that I took to use the audio input jack.
    Required Materials:
    Guitar
1/4" to 1/8" cable (Adapter acceptable)
    Macbook
    Headphones or External Speaker
First, plug in the headphones or external speakers.  This will prevent any unwanted audio feedback, which could damage your macbook.
Next, open system preferences and navigate to the Sound preference pane.  Command+Space "Sound" should get you there.
1.)  Click the input tab and you should see two options: Internal Microphone and Line In.  Click Line In.
2.)  Plug your guitar into the audio line in jack on your Macbook.  You should see the Input Level jump when you plug in your guitar.  Strum normally and adjust the input level.  I turned it all the way up for my acoustic-electric guitar, but if you have an electric guitar with good pickups, you may have to turn it down.
3.)  Open GarageBand and select "New Project" subcategory "Electric Guitar".
This is the extent of the information that I was able to aquire through Apple GarageBand documentation. Everything that follows is either third-party or trial and error.
4.)  Open GarageBand system preferences (Command+ , ).  Open the second tab labeled "Audio/MIDI".
The first two settings are "Audio Output:" and "Audio Input:".
Changing both of these options manually to "Built-In Output" and "Built-In Input" guarantees that you will be able to record and modify audio from your guitar and hear it live.  Clicking "Optimize for Minimum Delay" is useful if you want to hear your guitar with effects with minimum lag.
I have experimented with changing these settings with limited success.  If you learn anything new please contact me on my profile.

  • My Laptop Audio is NOT Working

Model Name and Number: HP Notebook dv6t-A1U59AV
I was listening to music, paused for a second, and continued it a bit later and it played but no audio came out of my headphones. I proceeded to use my speakers instead and recieved the same result. Next, I tested out different audio outputs such as iTunes and Youtube, all yielding the same result, no sound.
    I have intergrated beats audio.
    I am not muted.
I downloaded IDT (By reccomendation of a different post) and no solution came.
I checked device manager and it said all was normal, I troubleshooted my sound card and no problems were discovered.
I think the problem could be that the sound card itself broke and the computer does not recognize it (I dropped my computer about 2 inches on a hard table while the music was paused)
    Please Help!

  • Audio jack not working when cover closed and hdmi connected

    Pavillion Sleekbook 14 (14-b017cl)
    Windows 8
I have an external monitor connected via the hdmi port.  My external monitor does not have built in speakers.  I connect an external speaker via the headphone jack.  I can play audio fine if the notebook cover is open.  As soon as I close the notebook cover, the audio stops.  How can I get the audio to still be sent to my external speakers with the cover closed?
I have my power settings set to "Do Nothing" when lid is closed.  I don't know what else to try?
    Thanks for your help.

What is the status of the TV when the lid is closed? Does the image remain as it should?
Try installing this audio driver as it was released after the launch of Windows 8.
What program is playing the audio? For example, a music player or movie program? Is there no audio in any program when this happens?

Hold down the option key while using the Finder “Go To Folder” command. Enter ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.dashboard.plist.  Move the .plist to your desktop.
    Log out/in
If it works, delete the .plist on your desktop.
If  the same, return the .plist to where you got them from, overwriting the newer ones.
If you prefer to make your user library permanently visible, use the Terminal command found below.
