Hi @Beaglemom49779,
I see by your post that you replaced the toner and are now getting all black pages. I can help you with this.
Did you have the same issue with the printer before replacing the toner?
It could be a hardware or fuser issue with the printer.
If the issue just started after replacing the toner then most likely it is the toner.
Make sure the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet. (don't use a power hub or a surge protector)
Number one cause of toner issues.
Inspect the toner cartridge for damage:
1. Remove the toner cartridge from the product and verify that the sealing tape has been removed.
2. Check the memory chip for damage.
3. Examine the surface of the imaging drum on the bottom of the toner cartridge.
CAUTION: Do not touch the roller (imaging drum) on the bottom of the cartridge.
Fingerprints on the imaging drum can cause print-quality problems.
4. If you see any scratches, fingerprints, black on the drum, or other damage on the imaging drum, replace the toner.
5. If the imaging drum does not appear to be damaged, rock the toner cartridge gently several times and reinstall it. Print a few pages to see if the problem has resolved.
Please call our technical support if the there is a issue with the toner and inquire about a replacement, at 800-474-6836. If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the link below to get the support number for your region. Contact HP.
Have a nice day!

    Help?
    Using Windows XP (Home Version)
    Product # CB419A

Could be a number of issues.  First could be a bad or not connecting transfer rollers which moves the toner from the drum to the paper.  Only way to test is a half test by putting paper on the manual tray and printing a self test.  When the back edge enters the printer, open the toner door to stop printing.  Remove the toner and flip back the cover over the toner drum to see if there is any image on the drum.  If image is present then it could be transfer roller issues.  Use the service manual and look under engine diagnostics in the index and it will direct you to a page that shows how to perform an engine test.  Do the test to see if you get a sheet of paper with lines on it.  If you get lines, then the issue could be the formatter.  If no lines and the shutter has been removed then I would think you are having high voltage issues.  You may have to bring the printer in for service.

  • Laserjet 1018 both side printing WinXp SP2 problem

Hello I hope this is the right section for posting this , if not I apologise in advance. I run WinXp SP2 with a Laserjet 1018 printer installed  and I need to print a document with 2 pages per sheet and I used the Print on both sides option (to save paper). When the first half of the print job is done the warning led (with the exclamation mark) goes on and I don't get the continue option (mentioned in the manual). i have tried reinstalling the drivers but with no luck. I can do normal print jobs with no problem though.

    Hi
You can try running the following utility at the link below. It sounds like a network issue since you are able to print fine when you give the users admin rights.

  • HP Laserjet 1018 does not print (Vista)

    Hi,
I've had the HP Laserjet 1018 for about 2 years and have been a very happy customer. Recently I upgraded to Windows 7 and have been using it without trouble for a few months. Just a few days ago I started having some spooler problems on Windows 7. Eventually the printer would not respond. I also have a laptop running Vista so decided to just use print using Vista instead.
The problem I'm having on Vista now is that when I send a print command, the printer does go into a warm-up state for about two to three seconds. I can hear moving parts inside and at the same time the 2 lights blink alternatively. But after this warm-up state the printer would just stop.  At this pint the print queue on windows would be empty again, as if the print job has been complete.
I've used this printer with my Vista laptop for a long time without any problem. I hope this is a common problem and can be easily resolved. Thanks in advance for helping me out.
    Theo

I have a similar problem. Dell XPS 64 bit desk top using Laserjet 1018 with Vista. Upgrade to Win 7 four months ago without a problem. Six days ago the print spooler stopped and stops immediately every time I start it. Pages of error reports in event log, but can't find one with a cause (that I can understand anyway). Cannot print. Can't uninstall HP drivers to install any new drivers because the spooler is stopped. Ran Windows system file checker without a problem documented. Windows says the printer is working and trouble shooter did not help. Printers display on control panel with limited function upon right click. Can't choose print directly to printer. A number of similar posts on Microsoft site without viable solution.

  • HP LaserJet 1018 no longer prints after security update

After installing the following updates on my HP Pavilion dv71023cl running Windows Vista:
Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 9 for Windows Vista for x64-based Systems (KB2817183)
    Installation date: ‎4/‎12/‎2013 4:06 PM

and a new driver for the 1018 from HP:
    Hewlett-Packard - Printers - HP LaserJet 1018
    Installation date: ‎4/‎21/‎2013 2:01 PM
    Installation status: Successful
    Update type: Optional
Hewlett-Packard Printers software update released in September, 2012
    More information:

It appears I can no longer print from Internet Explorer 9.
Clicking on gear icon and selecting the Print item, shows the Microsoft XPS Document Writer is highlighted instead of the HP Laserjet 1018 as I expect. When I select the HP Laserjet 1018, the Print Button becomes grayed-out.
Attemping to print from Adobe Reader X also hangs the application.
However, printing is working when using Open Office.
I cannot recall if I attempted to print between the time these 2 updates were installed, so cannot determine which is the cause of the problem.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

Sounds like you've run into some printer issues since your most recent update. First I wold recommend removing the software and then going to the HP website and re installing the software from the direct driver downloads.
First if you use a USB cord, make sure to remove it (this is important). Do not plug it back in until the software directs you to. Then go through the Devices and Printers, Programs and Features and Device Manager folders and insure that all copies, files, and programs related to the printer are removed. Then as directed, restart the computer.
In the START menu type "%temp%" and press ENTER. Here I want you to press Ctrl+A and hit DELETE. Some of the files will not allow you to delete them, skip those files and delete the majority that allows it.
Download this file, and if optional use the Full-feature software.

If that does not work I would try the PL6 drivers :
    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/ProductList.jsp?locale=en_US&taskId=135&prodTypeId=...
Install that and let me know the result!
    Have a great day!

  • LaserJet 1018 shared on Printer server doesn't print

Hi, I'm a multi HP owner (notebook, desktop a Photosmart printer and the LaserJet 1018)... I recently bought a Iomega NAS with the printer server service and I tried to share both of my HP printers on it. The PhotoSmart 7260 works perfectly, but the LaserJet 1018 does not: it says that it have a job pending but the print doesn't start. I've passed the same nightmare when I've tried to share the printer on the Desktop PC with Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit: job pending but no printing unless I restart the PC... on startup the print stated. I've found the way to share it with Ubuntu Server 9.10 by installing HP linux driver. Now, having this nice NAS I would like to use it as my printer server (energy saving reasons).
I've read a lot of people with the same problem but havn't find the solution. Somebody even says that the 1018 is a low budget printer and is not enabled for sharing, but it sounds bull**bleep** to me (it prints under linux). Somebody knows if and how to solve this problem? My clients are both Win7 x64 (I have to test my Ubuntu 10.10 desktop)... should I install 32bit version drivers? ore something like that? Or should I buy a new printer (!HP)???
    Thanks
    Alessandro

If the printer is not postscript, and you are using 'generic' then the printer is likely not understanding what is being sent to it, so it is dumping the job.
HP printers default to HPs own page desription language called PCL (Printer Control Language).
If you did not install all the 'additional printers' when you installed your OS, might want to do so.
If not, check HPs site for Mac drivers, or check out GIMP & GhostScript from SourceForge.net to see if they support that particular printer

  • IPhoto shows a printer continuously printing.

    Hello,
I have an iMac 3.06ghz  Intel core 2 duo with 8gb memory and an nvidia g force 9400 256 mb graphics card. I have iPhoto version 9.6 installed.
iPhoto shows a printer icon on the left side of the screen with the wording printing next to it.  If I click on the icon to see what it's meant to be printing in the hope I canceller it it hangs iPhoto and I have to end up using force quit to get out of it.  I checked under system/printer settings and the printer has not got anything ready or waiting to be printed.  If I use the printer in another program, e.g. pages, it works correctly.  I have tried uninstalling the printer, restarting my mac, restarting iPhoto and tried accessing the print photo on a selected photo with iPhoto with the menu bar and with the right side sharing option that is on the bottom right hand side of an individual photo.
I am wondering if this problem has manifest because our old printer (Epson x635) broke three weeks ago.  We replaced it with a canon mg7150 which works well with the other macs, iPhones and iPads in the household.  Is it possible that if I had an unprinted photo in a queue on the old printer (even though all visible trace of the old printer has been deleted from my mac) that it could be confusing the iPhoto program in some way?  The old printer just failed to switch on one morning, we tried the fuse and looked on forums, it just wasn't turning on again.  That means I can't reinstall the old one just to clear a possible print queue then delete it again and install the new canon one again.  If I uninstall the printer entirely so theres no software associated with a printer at all on my mac it still shows up in iPhoto as printer printing.  I am starting to wonder if the only way out of this is to uninstall and reinstall iPhoto.  Is that the next step? Hoping someone is kin d enough to come up with a solution.
    Thank you for your time.

    Try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete the contents the following folder:
    User/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto
3 - reboot, launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: For Mavericks and Yosemite,  go to your Home folder and use the View ➙ Show View Options menu to bring the this window:
where you can check the Show Library Folder checkbox.

  • Print server recommendations for Laserjet 1018

I tried using Apple's Airport Xpress with my laserjet 1018 as a print server, and it worked ok on my laptop (wireless) but quite poorly on my desktop (wired). My laptop is Vista; desktop is XP. Apple said that the problem was with the OS or the printer.  Man if I had a dime for all the tech support calls that have claimed that their product wasn't the problem....
Rather than making numerous trips to best buy or purchases on amazon, is there a compatibility list for the 1018 and print servers? I know this seems to be tricky, as I've seen numerous complaints about the lack of compatibility between printers and print servers.  At this point I'm willing to use either wired or wireless print servers--I just want something that works.
EDIT: Even if someone doesn't have a list, if there are print servers that are known to work with lots of printers, at least that would give me better odds of finding one that worked with my 1018.
I suppose the price ceiling I'm looking at is 75 bucks or so, as that would be the difference betwen (a) buying a new HP 1505n  and (b) ebaying off my 1018. So if its much more than 75, I think I'd be better off just getting the 1505n.

  • Continuously printing pages

Please help me in the issue in hp laserjet 1022 series printers. it is automatically printing some pages after a fix interval of time which contains some kind of advertisements. i am quite fed up with it. plese tell me the way i can rid of this problem please

    Hi @Rahul001 ,
I understand that you are having issues with the printer continuously printing out several identical pages. I will do my best to assist you with this issue, but I will need some more information.
Power cycle the printer, make sure the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet. (don't use a power hub or a surge protector) This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation.
In the mean time, download and run the Print and Scan Doctor. It will diagnose the issue and might automatically resolve it. Find and fix common printer problems using HP diagnostic tools for Windows?
What operating system are you using? How to Find the Windows Edition and Version on Your Computer.
How is the printer connected? (USB/Ethernet)
If the printer is the Laserjet 1022, where is the USB cable connect to? (computer, dock, USB hub)
If you have the Laserjet 1022nw, is the printer hardwired to the router by a Ethernet cable?
What were the results when you ran the Print and Scan Doctor? (did it print or scan, any error messages)
    Have a wonderful day!

  • Laserjet 1018 paper feed problem - started suddenly and now wrinkles paper but does not feed it in

This HP Laserjet 1018 is 4 years old, has worked flawlessly.  But a day or two ago it fed a sheet of paper, there was a ripping sound, and the paper emerged, printed, but with a 1/4" wide, 5" long missing bit near the bottom, running the long way of the paper.  I found and removed the crinkled up torn strip of paper, and have restarted this printer numerous times.  Since that incident, it refuses to feed paper correctly, but bunches it up and wrinkles it a bit from the left to right and does not feed it in.  Thus, won't work.  I can't see any broken parts or anything stuck inside -- and taking this printer apart is v. complicated -- no easy panel to remove to see the feed mechanism.   I'm doubtful I can take it apart enough, and still get it back together.  I've cleaned the feed roller (small half-round gray rubber thing) and it does not seem to be the problem.
    Questions:
    a) anyone experienced, and solved this problem?
    b) is it worth trying to send this for repair (I got it on special for $69, and the replacement equivalent now appears to be the HP P1102w, which is selling via Amazon for $94.99
    Thanks

  • Can no longer print with Laserjet 1018 under Yosemite (10.10.1)

    Hello all,
I used to be able to use the HP Laserjet 1020 driver from Apple's HP Print Drivers 3.0 kit to print documents on my Laserjet 1018. It worked like a charm. Now that I have done a clean install of Yosemite, updated to 10.10.1, and installed the HP Print Drivers 3.0 package, the documents get sent to the print queue but no documents are printed...
What are my options, short of buying a new printer or downgrading to Mavericks?
I really resent regressions.... especially those you only find out about after the fact.

I just realized I had been trying to use the HP LS 1200 driver for my 1018, while I should have been using the 1022 driver, which is the one that works with the 1018 (since there is no specific driver for 1018).
So now that I have already upgraded to 10.10.1, I'm not sure if the update fixed anything for me or if I was just using the wrong driver from the start.
Anyway, the HP LaserJet 1022 driver works on the 1018 on Yosemite 10.10.1. Confirmed.

  • HP LaserJet 1018 freezes when trying to print from Homegroup user

    1. I have recently upgraded the OS on my laptop cumputer to Windows 7 SP-1 Ultimate to make it compatible with my desktop.
    2. I run a ethernet/wireless network and I have 3 printers attached to the network:
    (a) an HP 1018 attached to my desktop and have no problems printing from it;
    (b) A  second HP 1018 attached to a printserver (Belkin Home Base Control Center (Software version 1.0.0. SKUPTP Driver 3.3.8.0). The Belkin Control Center is attached to my network wirelessly. I have no problem printinting through this printer from my desktop. Nor did I have problems printing through this printserver when my laptop was running Vista Ultimate SP3;
    (c) a Photosmart all-in-one C7280 printer attached to my network wirelessly. I have no problem printing from this printer either from my desktop OR my laptop regardless of operating system.
    3. When my laptop was running Windows Vista Ultimate and my desktop was on Windows 7, the laptop was able to print through my desktop to the  USB HP LaserJet 1018 as well as the HP LaserJet attached to the Belkin Home Base Control Center. At no time has my laptop had problems printing to the HP Photosmart printer.
4.When I upgraded my laptop's OS to Windows 7 SP1 and joined both the desktop and the laptop through homegroup networking, however, I have experienced the following problems:
    (a) When the laptop attempts to print through the USB-connected HP LAserJet attached to my desktop, the action is recognised by both computers i.e., one computer printer status indicates that the print job is spooling to the USB printer; the printer indicater on my desktop indicates that the printjob is printing. However, nothing gets printed and the job is suspended.
When I try to cancel the printjob, both print status indicators tells me that the file is being deleted. However, it remains in that state even after a restart of both my computers.
I am unable to cancel the job -and unable to print directly from my host desktop computer- until I physically delete the print device, turn off the printer and restart the computer.
    (b) The Belkin Home Base Center on my laptop recognises that the second HP laserJet printer is attached to it and will indicate the fact and ask me if I want to load the print driver. When I indicate yes, the laptop attempts to load the driver, but hangs up while doing so. When I cancel the request and proceed to load the print driver on my laptop directly, the device appears as "Unspecified" rather than a printer on my device manager and I am unable to print from either my laptop or my desktop. Again, I need to delete the devices from both my desktop and laptop and restart just so that I can print from my desktop.
    4. As indicated above, printing to and through my Photosmart C7280 wireless printer is fine whether I try from my desktop or laptop. Also,  I am able to use my Cannon LiDe 500F scanner, that is also attached to the Belkin Home Base Center from both the desktop and laptop.
    SUMMARY:
    1. HP LaserJet 1018 printers can be shared between a desktop running Windows 7 SP1 Ultimate and a laptop running Vista SP3 Ultimate on a local network.
    2. The Windows 7 desktop and the Vista laptop can both share an HP 1018 printer attached to a Belkin Home Base Center printserver
    3. When the laptop is upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate and joined to the desktop through Homegroup networking, the laptop can no longer print through the HP1018 printer attached to the desktop, and any attempts to do so will freeze the printer so that not even the desktop can use it unless the device is removed and restarted on the desktop.
    4. Both the desktop and laptop computers can communicate with the Belkin Home Base Center printserver and activate a Cannon scanner also attached to this printserver. The desktop can also print through a second HP 1018 printer attached to this printserver. However, when the laptop attempts to print through the printserver, the print job freezes on both the desktop and laptop computers.
    5. Regardless of operating system or method of being networked, both the desktop and the laptop are able to print through a Photosmart C7280 printer.
What appears to be the incompatibility between HP LaserJet 1018 printers and Homegroup networking, and how can it be resolved?

Hello computerdude100, welcome to the forums
I read through your post about the issues you have been having since changing your router to the Linksys WRT1900AC. From how you are describing it, the printer itself seems okay without the new router, as your previous router setup worked fine and a the local connection to your computer works fine. The hardware is proving out to be okay.
I do recommend contacting Linksys to see if they can configure the settings for you as it is not communicating with the printer.

  • HP Laserjet 1018 - Not Printing - Both lights on solid

    Hi,
My printer seems to have encountered some sort of fault.  It starts up fine and is recognised by XP.  However, when printing, it seems to accept the data transfer but stall at the actual printing part.
I've rested it for 30 mins and had a look inside but I can't see anything that sticks out as causing a problem.  Attempting to print a test page results in the same; normal operation until the actual print is just about to start and then both lights go solid and the printer is unresponsive.
Any help very much appreciated.  I've run the HP diagnostics utility and that doesn't turn up and problems.
    Thanks,

  • HP LaserJet 1018 printer and windows 7Ultimate 32bit

I have HP LaserJet 1018 printer and it hasn't any problem when I used windows 7 professional but problems started when I replaced it with windows 7 Ultimate 32bit , In the beganning the windows didn't detect its existance so I ran the Hppsdr tool but it didn't help so much it convinced me that the problem in the USB cable so I bought another one and another for the power and the I downloaded the driver and even a setup called hp laserjet solution but it also doen't help so much the chance that the  problem related to the hardware is imposible because I visit the maintance shop and the Beleive or Not it worked so fast without any mistakes , Now the problem definetly related to the software especially that the windows detected the printer and when I start to give the print order it stuck in the queue for a long time even if it the test page by the way also I tried to use the cleaning utility but it doen't work also as it encountered an error I don't now . The printer seems so dead now .....Help me please.

    Hi,
Looks like there is a driver conflict on the computer....
What i would suggest is to remove all of HP printer S/W and install it back...
Go to control panel>add or remove programs> uninstall any program related to the HP printer....
Restart the computer and reinstall the printer S/W
    Hope this works.......
