  • Why Nvidia Official notebook drivers cannot be used to update U460

i ran the latest nvidia notebook drivers only to find out that it cannot detect the discrete graphics.
had to resort to the one provided by lenovo on their website...
why cant we simply update based on latest drivers??

you can use official nvidia graphic drivers.
just make sure you install the correct drivers for your u460 and also make sure you have nvidia graphic adapter.

    Hi:
There is no W7 32 bit switchable graphics driver for that configuration from anywhere.
Your only choice if you want to succesfully run W7, is to install W7 x64, and then you can use the drivers and software from the m6t-1000 except the BIOS and firmware files.

While obviously not of benefit in the OS X side of the house I'm curious to see if this might not (start to) open the door to access to the 9400M graphics system when using Windows under Boot Camp.

this is nice hopefully the cook somthing up for os-x

  • 8800 GS drivers

Like many others I am suffering freezes and BSOD's whilst gaming. I have isolated the cause to the 8800 GS driver (although using wireless mouse/keyboard made it worse).
When I check what driver I have via the XP control panel/systems/device manager etc. it tells me I have a NVidia 8800 GS, version 6.14.11.6763, dated 1/24/2008.
When I use the Auto Check on the NVidia site it tells me that I have a 8800 GS and the current installed driver is version 167.63. As the last five numbers are the same as detailed in Windows, at least both checks are giving the same result. (I would not have been surprised if they were different!)
My first question is this. Where did this driver come from: It is not listed in Boot Camp 2.0 which I have installed (but not 2.1). Was it on the OS X installation disc or perhaps the Win XP SP3 disc?
I also used the Nvidia website to tell me what update I needed for my 167.63 driver. The recommendation was:
"Latest Geforce Release for Notebooks Version 179.28 - Release date 18 Dec 2008" . And of course the drivers included in that update are all "M" type including 8800 M GS
So my second question is: Why is NVidia recommending a Notebook update when it has identified my existing driver as a desk top version? I would have expected it to refer me to the Jan 8 2009 release of update 181.20 which included my 8800 GS!!
    Confused from England!

    Dealbata,
I am at work currently and dont have access to my Mac, but I found the imac's 8800 specs (cant remember where) and matched them to the specs of the 8800M GTS specs supplied by nvidia. I had also read that the iMacs use the notebook version of both CPUs and graphics cards because the of the lower power consumption and heat output. It is necessary to keep those both low due to the confined space of the imac.
Personally, when I update the drivers I use the drivers for the 8800GS (desktop version) because they are the newest drivers and are not Beta such as the notebook drivers are. They function great for me. ALWAYS REMEMBER TO SET A SYSTEM RESTORE POINT BEFORE UPDATING JUST IN CASE!!!! It is a little tricky to install the drivers and I am going off of memory here but here goes:
    1. Download the newest drivers for the 8800GS
    2. Extract to a folder where you will remember the location
    3. Click on start, control panels, then system. Go to the hardware tab, and device manager. Once the window opens, double click on display, then nvidia 8800. Click on driver in the new window, then update driver button.
    4. When windows wants to connect to windows update click no not this time. >click next, Then Click on Install from specific location. >click next. Then click choose specific location >click next.
    5. in the next screen you should see the nvidia 8800gs in the list. Click have disk and navigate to the folder where you extracted the new driver you download.
6**Windows will give you a warning saying this driver might not be supported and may yield unwanted results, etc. Click ok and install the driver. Once the driver installs, you will need to restart.
    7. After restarting the new driver will be installed. You can verify the new driver version as well.
    Good Luck!

    aggwann

    Hello Mike
Thanks for your answer. Now i have downloaded the biosupdate from the toshiba site. When i extract the zip-file, there is no exe like discribed. So i can´t run the update.
Okay, all normal functions of the Computer are ok. I work with it like i did before.
Perhaps the problem is really, that i run this Notebook with DOS and Win 3.11.
    However, your answer helps.

  • Can't Update nVidia Drivers

I have the latest version of the 24" iMac with the nVidia GT 130. I can't seem to upgrade the drivers though under Windows Vista after booting with BootCamp. With my old Mac Pro I could easily install updated drivers, but now when I run the update I get an error stating that "The NVIDIA Setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. Setup will now exit." I've double checked under Device Manager and I do indeed have nVidia GT 130 listed.
Any ideas why I can't upgrade the drivers?
UPDATE: On a whim I tried installing the notebook drivers and that worked. I was under the impression that the GT 130 wasn't a notebook card, but I guess I was wrong.

iMacs do not have actual video cards. They have mobile versions of the GPUs integrated onto the motherboard. I suspect that's the reason for what you see.

  • Who wants new drivers for Toshiba Qosmio series?

Since there is no poll here please write a reply if you are interested in getting updated drivers from Toshiba for your notebook. Your notebook, what driver you nee
    Your notebook:
    Drivers you would like updated:
    Reason you need updated drivers:
    Notes:
Maybe if they see there is an interest they might start working on it as it seems they don't work at all in this segment.
    Cheers!

I am also one of the gamers completely disappointed by Toshiba's attitude towards tech support.
I decided to give them time after I had purchased my laptop 3 months ago, but this is becoming an outrageous issue.
Clearly the drivers need to be updated, why you ask?
Playing Battlefield Bad Company 2, with forced directx10 (instead of 11) on absolutely lowest details @1920x1080 results in reocurring "overheating" and massive framerate drops, which last about a minute or two and then everything goes back to normal (gaming is then impossible, until it cools down). Same with DIRT3. Not to mention I've got a brand new zalman laptop cooler, which constantly pump air beneath my cpu. So yes, I would like my new updated drivers. Is Toshiba really that careless when it comes to customer satisfaction? I mean what were they thinkin, that people will settle for one driver version?
I had different laptops before, and never have I seen such a ridiculous case of misconception.
Once again - GAMING LAPTOP - so support should be worth the money gamers spent on their gear.
Thats not how you compete for anything in e-sports. Toshiba will dig they're own grave if strings are not pulled soon.

  • AE2420 updated graphic drivers

    Hi all,
As per subject: where can I found some updated drivers (at least the graphic ones)? On the msi support site they are still stuck at v.1 from 2010-10-06...
    Thanks!
    L2k

What operating system are you using?
I presume you're still using the included Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit as originally supplied. If so, try this tool from AMD, it will check if you're able to use their generic notebook drivers (The AE2420 uses the Mobility Radeon HD5730 GPU).
    http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/radeonmob_win7-64.aspx#1
Very very BAD move, which I strongly suggest other forum members not to copy: the AMD utility confirmed that I could use the generic drivers and downloaded them automatically.
However, they do NOT work with our system (it will crash once then reboot with the generic windows 7 drivers with a low resolution).
I've been able to re-install the original ones from the MSI website, so now the resolution is fine, however the catalyst control centre will still not work, and games complain that no DX11 drivers are available...
So basically I'm in a worse situation than when I started... at this point I'll probably have to restore the system from scratch, unless anyone has some other idea to try first?
    Cheers

  • Problem updating windows drivers for ipad, problem updating windows drivers for ipad

    Any ideas/suggestions ?

The most reliable information on running Windows on a Mac is most often not going to be your store or elsewhere but from ATI and Nvidia.
Apple does not provide graphics drivers anymore than Microsoft does, just something basic is all.
Nvidia - pls. check their web site for information first - has said they would in 2009 provide mobility drivers, for any and all platforms and users.
A Mac running Windows is just a personal microcomputer. And all laptops have faced trouble with graphics.
NVIDIA® is making it easier than ever to get the most capability and performance from your notebook by making NVIDIA® GeForce® notebook drivers available on NVIDIA.com. These drivers deliver sharp, crystal-clear, on-the-go graphics with lightning fast performance for games, videos, and images, all while maintaining manufacturer customizations, including hotkeys.
And one more thing – NVIDIA notebook drivers now bring NVIDIA® CUDA™ technology to notebooks for the first time, including NVIDIA® PhysX™ technology for the latest games.
