My HP-P6210Y

OK, my HP-P6210Y prod. # NY545AA#ABA will not stay running. I turn it on and the power button glows blue for about 30 seconds, The fans turn on, everything appears to be working properly in the tower, however the monitor, keyboard, and mouse do not work. After running for 30 seconds, the computer shuts off. The computer then starts up 8 seconds later runs for another 30 seconds and turns off again. This happens continuously and it never stays on. I have tried a different monitor, keyboard, and mouse with no change. Whats next?

Hi,
Try this procedure:
Unplug the PC and open it up. Clean out all the dust. Carefully remove and replace all the cables going to the motherboard one at a time. Do the same for the memory dimms and the video and sound cards if you have any. You might want to buy a can of compressed air to blow the dust out of the CPU heat sink and video card if one is installed.  Plug your PC back in and give it a go.
Do you hear any beeps?

  • Will a GTX 750 work with my Hp Pavilion P6210Y?

Hello everyone, recently I've been reading post saying that people have bought GTX 750's and there machine would not boot. I want to get a GTX 750 EVGA for my HP Pavilion P6210Y but I'm afriad it won't work. Can someone tell me if it will... I bought my computer at a yard sale so I'm not sure if the BIOS has been updated. It probably hasn't. I would be shocked.  Thanks!

Hi, The GTX 750 will not normally work in your PC.  I have seen some tricks on the internet for getting newer graphics cards to work in older PCs but it's not worth pursuing. Search the forum for issues with the M2N78-LA (Viloet) motherboard. You might find some interesting issues with this motherboard.

  • P6210y Sata port

Is there any known issue with the Sata ports on this p6210y desktop system?  Motherboard is an M2NZ78-LA Pegatron board
I have tried all 4 ports, changted wires, but sometimes when I boot it says theres no hard drive or CD drive...I have set the BIOS to show me this info at boot up, and all four SATA ports sometimes show None...on boot up.  I tried another hard drive too.
Its out of warranty, and replacement boards seem expemsive, and a lot of the ones I saw on ebay all said the SATA ports were defective.

Sorry about the mistake.  I guess I had USB on my mind.

  • Problem with system recovery for a new hard drive in my Pavilion p6210y Windows 7 Premium 64bit

I decided to swap out  my hard drive when my computer would fail to start up or crash right after starting. Diagnostic tool at startup said the hard drive was faulty and other times I would get BIOHD-1 and BIOHD-2 errors. I replaced the old WD Caviar Blue 640GB with a new Caviar Green 1TB. I ordered and received from HP a system recovery disc set which included five discs labeled:
    Use This First! System Recovery,
    System Recovery 1:1,
    SYstem Recovery 1:3,
    System Recovery 2:3, and
    System Recovery 3:3.
After putting in the new hard drive I used the "Use This First!" disc and everything seemed to be going fine. The scene showed "Loading Windows" or something like that. After about 10 minutes the CD drive opened and the Monitor showed three images: a big green check mark which I assume meant everything was good up to that point; a graphic showing the removal of the first disc; and a graphic showing three discs to be put in. Wondering whether to put in the System Recovery 1:1 disc or the System Recovery 1:3 disc, I noticed that the drive bay closed with the "Use This First" disc still in. I managed to get the Drive to open after pressing the open button quite a few times. I closed it with the 1:3 disc and nothing happened (no light showing activity in the DVD drive). After a minute or so I managed to get the drive open again after quite a few times pressing the open button. I put in the 1:1 disc and still nothing. At this point I could only open the drive bay with a paper clip in the release hole. With the computer unresponsive and the monitor still showing the same as when the first disc came out, I decided to turn it off with the "Use this First!" disc in the drive hoping to start from the beginning again. Now the directions that came with the HP System Recovery discs state:
CAUTION: Do not turn off the computer, or use the keyboard or mouse during this time. Doing so will interrupt or damage the software installation.
Now when I turn the power on I get either:
the HP blue screen with the green hand, (F11=system recovery), (F9=Diagnostics), (F10=Setup) and (ESC=Boot Menu). pressing esc, F9, F10 or F11 does nothing.
Or the HP blue screen appears and then almost immediately goes to the black screen with " Reboot and select proper boot device or insert Boot media in select Boot device and press a key". I've gotten this scene while trying almost every System Recovery disc in the drive. Hitting a key does nothing other than repeating the same message.
Once I got a "The file is corrupt. The file header checksum does not match the computer checksum" error. That appeared only once in about 30 try's.
The open DVD drive button works sometimes and not other times. I can't seem to figure out a pattern for when it will work.
I don't know whether I might have accidentally moved the mouse or hit the keyboard during the first attempt. Can I  do something to the new hard drive to get it back to a state where it can start from the beginning again? Might it be a problem other than the old hard drive. Anyone have any suggestions?

Yes, of course! See the link to your model's spec above.
My apologies. The previous link went to a spec for the Satellite A505-S6960 (which came with Windows Vista installed). I had too many spec pages open at the same time and got them mixed.
So, are you telling me that I won't get this one to work?(the BPKT)
No. But you may face the problems that I outlined in this message.

  • My p6210y desktop shuts down & message says environmental issue, please service immediately. Help!?

I've tried cleaning the dust out, the fan is super loud, tried updating everything, including nvidia driver, java, origin, windows updates, etc. Windows 7 & my daughter was playing Sims 3 when this first started yesterday. Sent my computer for repair twice when under warranty for same issue, now it's 2 years old so support wants $60 to troubleshoot over the phone.

    Hello Stephaniedannyo,
I understand your PC at this current moment will not even boot up.
You stated that you have the PC serviced twice while under warranty; do you remember what exactly was done or replaced on those 2 service calls?
Also when you turn the PC on if you look at the keyboard do you see any lights that blink it what seems to be a rhythm? (Ex. The caps lock or number lock lights)
Please respond at your earliest convenience.

  • Update intel hd graphics driver for hp pavillion p6210y desktop

I can no longer view some youTube in full screen.I hane nto had this issue before. I did all suggested: Updated Adobe (all products) and disabled hardware acceleration. The last recommendation is to Update the Intel HD Graphics drivers and I don't know how. I know almost nothing about computers (I should say I know nothing). Is there someone who can assist me?

    Hi:
The product specs page for your PC indicates it comes with a NVidia graphics adapter, not an Intel one.

  • P6210y not booting

Hi, i am trying to figure out how to fix my computer. Last night my computer froze up and I turned it off. Tried to turn it back on, all i get is nothing. Their is power but no booting, no BIOS, not even turning the screen on. All I get is 2 beep from the motherboard buzzer when turned on. I tried troubleshoot some and i get 1 beep if i unplug the CD-RW. Not sure if I need to clear the CMOS and password from the motherboard. All I hope is that my hard drive is not damaged. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi,
It may well be worth resetting the bios defaults either by removing the CMOS battery for 20 minutes or by using the reset jumpers on the Motherboard.  The position and placement of the jumpers is described near the bottom of the page on the following link.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01635734&tmp_track_link=ot_recdoc/c01859864/en_...
Also, if you have any extra expansion card that are not needed to boot, try removing them to see if this makes any difference.

  • Hp p6210y shutdown due to overheating now won't boot up

i was working on my computer this evening and it shut down, after i rebooted it said it was due to overheating. shut down, restarted and it happened again within 2 minutes. tried to reboot and all the fans start up, i hear the hard drive accessed for 2 seconds and then nothing. 45 seconds later it shuts itself off and tries to boot again with the same results. during boot up the monitor doesn't receive a signal and i don't get a bios screen.what should i try?

If you see an error message that says shutdown for overheating do not restart a PC until the fan has been replaced with a new one and new thermal interface material put in place. The fan sensor may have failed or the fan itself may be faulty.
I dislike having to tell you this, but the failure to pay attention to error messages of so serious an event as this may have cost you the CPU.
Your PC's release to market year was 2009. It is unlikely to be under warranty unless you purchased an extended warranty.
Did you remove the cover to investigate the issue? I suggest you take it to a shop to have it looked at or if in warranty contact HP.

  • Hp 6310y can't get new hard drive to load windows 7

    model 6310y -- Windows 7 home premium 64 bit
My desktop PC stopped working.  I took it to local computer store and they said it was HD.  I bought new hard drive and tried to install retail Windows 7 home premium 64 bit OS.  I got an error message Code 0x80070002.
I called HP support....they told me I needed their brand of recovery discs because the motherboard or BIOS wouldn't allow me to install Windows 7 on the new replacement HD w/o it being their (HP) discs.  So I ordered them...$17
I bought another new HD and tried to install Windows 7 OS with the HP recovery discs.  This time got Error Code 0xe0ef000e.
I should mention both times trying to install OS on new replacement HD...it got approx 8 to 12 minutes into installation before getting error messages.
I called HP support....this time was told that the retail version of Windows 7 OS should have worked and that I didn't need the HP brand recovery discs when installing new replacement HD.   They offered me to pay $199 and send them my desktop to fix it....all inclusive fix.
Very confused.  I have never encountered anything like this before...I've had mulitple hard drives die over the years and have replaced them myself and installed all the software including OS myself w/o any problems like this.
Memory checked out ok when utilizing the diagnostics f9 key .... it did show problems with HD during one of my many diagnostic attempts
Not sure if its a bad motherboard or built in video card ..... not sure how to find out either....since I can't get the PC up and running
It will boot to blue HP screen & most of time won't allow me to get into f10, f9 or esc screens.
Not sure if its worth paying $200 to fix this or go and buy a new one for around the same price.
any suggestions or help is appreciated
    thanks

    1) A retail OS should have worked.  That particular motherboard's NVidia Sata controller chip had a bad batch. You need to make sure the hard drive is recognized in the BIOS. If not, nothing can be done.
    2) Their brand of recovery disks was wrong, and was acknowledged. What about your $17 ??
If you had either a retail OS, or the recovery Disks that you made, these are acceptable.
The HP version when used with a new hard drive require conditioning "CyberLink Recovery Discs utility resolves an issue where Recovery Discs sent from HP do not work on a new hard drive".

  • SATA Host adapter issue

Hey guys,      I Believe that I have found an issue with the SATA host adapter in a Pavilion p6210y desktop.  I have having trouble restoring the system after a hard drive replacement and I discovered that if I have BOTH the hard drive and the CD-ROM drive unplugged then the machine will boot.  If I plug in either the hard drive OR the CD-ROM then the machine will hang on the HP BIOS screen.  Voltage output of the PSU is normal.  I'm thinking the host adapter (motherboard) is toast.

If you already haven't tried, reset the BIOS to 'Default Values'.Or if that doesn't work, try clearing the BIOS entirely by using the Clear CMOS jumpers on the motherboard or removing all power and the CMOS battery for several minutes. Also, you don't need a CD/DVD drive to run a system diagnostics. If you don't have the most recent version of HP Vision Diagnostics, download the most recent version onto a CD or flash drive using the steps in the Creating HP Vision Diagnostic Media section.* HP Vision Diagnostics is supported by systems manufactured between Sept 2010 > June 2012. You can also try BIOS diagnostics. If the computer does not boot, and you do not have a Vision Diagnostics CD available, use the BIOS diagnostic tests. The HP Vision Diagnostics tests are built into the BIOS of your computer and are a quick and easy way to identify basic computer hardware problems.  HP 3 in 1 Diagnostics USB KeyThe HP PC Hardware Diagnostics 3-in-1 USB Key includes the latest UEFI based diagnostics as well as the older HP Vision Diagnostics. In addition to diagnostics, it now supports the recovery of a corrupted BIOS on supported systems. • DUAL MONITOR HELP!!!

    System Information:
    HP P6210Y
    Win 7
    NVIDIA GeForce 9100
Above is my system information. I'm running an HP P6210Y with a GeForce 9100 graphics card. I have two [2] Dell IN2030M monitors. I purchased a VGA Splitter and that worked, but now how I wanted it to work. I then bought a DVI-D to VGA adapter and the DVI plug doesn't seem to work. VGA monitor works. DVI doesn't. It's just a black screen I get. Both monitors work perfectly. Any idea what I can do to get dual monitors going? I'm new to this and I find myself wasting more money trying things my way. Any/All assistance would be greatly appreciated.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

Here are the specs for your HP Pavilion p6210y Desktop Computer. According to the specs, this model has integrated nVidia GeForce 9100 chipset graphics that support one VGA (analog) output and one DVI-D (digital only) output. There is no way to make a passive DVI-to-VGA adapter work. These adapters only work with DVI-A and DVI-I outputs. It would require an active DVI-D to VGA converter to change the digital signal into an analog one.
    The technical specs for your Dell IN2030M 20-inch Flat Panel Monitors indicate that they support both DVI-D and VGA inputs. To resolve your issue, you will need to purchase one DVI-D cable and connect as follows;
    Computer > DVI-D cable > Monitor #1
    Computer > VGA cable > Monitor #2

  • Sudden no DVI/VGA signal

    Pavilion p6210y. Stock, nothing fancy.
Over a year ago my power supply exploded abut I replaced it with a Norwood Micro 350W I found in a  free box. It worked just fine, we used the computer for about 6 months then set it aside because we got a laptop. The other week I started it again and it worked fine for about 30 minutes then the monitor shows me no DVI/VGA signal and go to sleep. The computer is still running. I let it rest for a day and then started it again and the same thing happened. Power supply? Motherboard?
    Thanks!,

  • Everything I click on freezes!

I have a Pavilion p6210y PC.  On Sunday, my screen froze and left me no option but to turn off at case. It never booted properly again. I couldn't get into setup - would not boot from cd - occasionaly it began a CHKDSK, but never finished and froze. Since it wouldn't boot, assumed hard drive corrupted and replaced.  Full system restore done on new HDD running Windows 7 Home Premium.  All installed correctly, updates installed correctly, programs restored and in less than 24 hours same issues began. HDD light stays lit - no cycling sounds - all frozen - then it starts up again with a click - over and over. I can't run two processes at once - screen freezes & must turn off on case.  I managed to run HP Diagnostics Tools and all hardward passed - Motherboard, Processor, Memory, HDD, etc. Product no longer under warranty and Microsoft says not their issue - Windows 7 reinstall would have addressed any issues with software. HP tech says in his opinion I need to install an external Graphics card and disable one on motherboard. Computer is 18 months old. Card installed is NVIDIA GeForce 91000. There is no diagnostic tool on HP to check it  Has anyone else had this issue? Does this sound like the correct solution? I don't want to keep throwing money at this PC unless this sounds like a good solution.  Any help at all greatly appreciated!
Edit:  I am unable to download anything. In addition to the first post, I wanted to add that when I try to load IE or Google Chrome, I get a blank screen with "waiting for cache" along the bottom.  VERY SLOWLY the page loads. When it finishes, anything I click on freezes the page - not the mouse - just the page.  The mouse moves around, but anything I click on has no reaction.  Someone suggested that I have a really bad virus running in the background that is using up a huge percentage thus not allowing anything else to run, but I have not found anything.  However, as an experiment, since I had deleted the volume and reformatted the original HDD, I plugged it in, unplugged the new one, and tried a re-install of Windows 7.  It stalled at 8% and froze, so I think we can eliminate a virus.  Does this sound like a graphics card issue to anyone as HP tech suspects? I also got an error code after several restart attempts:  0xc00000e9 unexpected I/O error has occured. Anyone???

That computer has the infamous M2N78-LA motherboard. The NVidia controller is more than liklely overheating.
When it finally goes UP, it will jumps top booting.

  • NVIDIA - GeForce GTX 660 Ti 2GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 Graphics Card

How difficlut is it to replace a grphic card in a HP P6210Y

Here are the specs for your HP Pavilion p6210y Desktop Computer. According to the specs, this model has a PCIe x16 graphics card slot and a 300 watt power supply. In theory, the computer's PCIe x16 slot is v2.0 and a PCIe x16 v3.0 graphics card should work in this slot. You will need an open space next to the PCIe x16 slot to accomodate the GTX 660 Ti. Please see "Adding or Replacing an Expansion Card (Video Card, Sound Card, etc...)" for instructions on installing a graphics card in your computer.
You will also need to replace the power supply with a unit rated to work with your new graphics card. It appears the minimum system power supply requirement for the GTX 660 Ti series of cards is 600 watts. Please consider the Corsair CX600 or CX600M for your power supply needs. The Corsair CX600M is modular, which allows for better cable management and air flow in the HP case. Please see "Replacing the Power Supply" for instructions on installing a new power supply in your computer.
