My HP Pavilion doesn't detect the built-in webcam

Sir, I have a built-in webcam that used to work perfectly until recently. My Laptop came with Windows 8 in 2013 and I upgraded it to Windows 8.1. However, now my computer is not able to detect the built-in webcam. I know it's a software problem because the hardware couldn't have been damaged. I have tried installing the 'youCam software' with the help of HP recovery manager, and it was successfully installed. Still, when I open YouCam, it says, "No available camera detected. Please check if camera is connected and try again". Even device manager has no 'imaging devices' option. I guess something turned the webcam off, and for some reason, no driver is able to turn it back on I need to get that camera working. My product name/number is, 15-n010TX. Please let me know what I can do.. thank you

Try a hard reset as follows:
1) Remove the battery and unplug the DC power adapter.
2) Press and hold the power button for more than fifteen seconds.
3) Plug in the DC power adapter (leave the battery out for now)
4) Press the power button

The Apps usually only work with wireless printers, though if its free, there is no harm in trying, and see if it gets picked up, but its doubtful, as the print server would need to transmit in the same protocol the Brother Print App is expecting from the supported wireless printers.

Skype doesn't detect the webcam

I know this problem has been posted out many times, but unfortunately after trying each solution, it's resolves nothing on my problem.
I'm using ASUS X44C series, skype doesn't detect the webcam itself. And using Windows 7 64bit.
I've been trying to reinstal the lifeframe for webcam. Doesn't work
Tried to using many cam. doesn't work
Tried to making default the windows itself. Doesn't work
Reinstall and update skype. Still doesn't work
I even calling an IT to fix this, but he still unable to find the problems.

Please, run the DirectX diagnostics tool (32-bit version).
Go to Windows Start and in the Run box type dxdiag.exe and press the OK button. This will start the DirectX diagnostics program. Run this diagnostics and save the results to a file. Please, attach this file to your post.

Screen Saver when calling and need to use the Keypad, the screen saver doesn't detect the phone has left the ear and blanks out the screen. Even ending a call is difficult as the screen blanks out within seconds

I have to use the Keypad a lot when making calls. Make the call, the Robot then asks to enter a number for a service, pull the phone down from the ear, the screen may light up for a second, but then the screen saver cuts in, blanking the screen out. Sometimes you hit the Home Key to awaken the sccreen, enter your number and then back to the ear to hear the next set of instructions. Back and forth just trying to enter the options is a pain. Sometimes even trying to end the call, the screen blanks out and you fight to try and end a call.
If I use the Speaker function the keypad works; the speakler phone is not alway appropriate.
It appears that the phone gyro, doesn't detect the phone has moved from the ear to the viewing angle. This wasn't an issue until recently and I can't remeber if it's the iPhone 5 or one of the updates. It definitly wasn't there earlier on, as I threw away an Windows 6.5 phone for the same problem.
I'm not sure if it's a hardware or software (design) issue.

It is not the gyro. This has everything to do with the iPhone's prioximity sensor.
Are you using a case that may be blocking or partially blocking the proximity sensor? If you are using the case, remove the case prior to the next call to see if the same occurs without the case.

After 4.3.4 update the ipPad is in Recovery mode and iTunes doesn't detect the device

Hello,
brand new Win7 installation, restored iTunes folder and installed latest 10.4. iTunes64 bit.
Hooked up both my iPad and iPhone4
Detected new firmware 4.3.4
and bang, both devices are now stuck into recovery mode.
No matter I set the iPad/iPhone into Recovery or DFU mode, iTunes will not detect any device for recovery.
Uninstall/Install iTunes => no change
The driver will display that the units is detected and in DFU or Recovery mode, but iTunes doesn't detect the device.
Tried TinyUmbrella etc but no fix
Any other hint?

Ethernet port doesn't detect the cable is connected and doesn't function

It's since this morning that I can't make my en0 ethernet port work. Please note: changed dozens of cables, hubs, etc. The port simply doesn't detect the cable is plugged in and the actual network interface configuration crashes with the following log upon system boot-up:

I had a similar issue with a MacBook Pro. When connecting the network cable, the network preferences would show 'not connected'. I thought it was hardware, but when I transferred the user to another Mac, I found that that ethernet device all the sudden stopped working as well.
I was able to get the ethernet back with:
System Preferences
->Network
->Assist Me...
->Diagnostics...
At some point the ethernet device went green and all was well.

Mac doesn't detect the hard drive

Hello, my Powerbook doesn't detect the Hard Drive (tryied restarting, tryied Disk Utility from DVDs)... Yesterday and some days before I heard some clicking noises coming from the PB.
I'm still under Apple Care coverage, I think they'll remplace it for me (won't they?), but the most important thing: does anyone knows if the data on the hard drive can be restored??... And if Apple Care will try to restore it or it will just remplace the Hard Drive?... do I have any other option?

Here's some answers. Everyone else here chime in if I'm wrong!
Apple Care will replace the drive (unless they determine you killed it by intentionally abusing the PB itself, very unlikely).
Apple Care will not transfer any data they find to a new drive, just replace it and very likely load a default Software Configuration.
Here are some options. In both cases, be READY to start copying data the INSTANT the drive is recognized. If it comes up at all...
- Restart the PB in Target Disk Mode by holding down the "T" key during the bootup process. If you can get the PB to load as a Target Disk, you can plug it into another Mac and copy off your files (or clone it if you want to get more advanced)
- Have a local shop remove the hard drive and replace it with a new one. Reload the default software yourself, then put the original malfunctioning drive into an external firewire/USB case to see if it's still salvageable.
Yeah, clicking noises from a hard drive are never good. I've had a couple drives go bad on me, and was lucky enough to have time to backup real quick - biting nails all the way. Let us know how you're doing with the repair,

New iMac 27" WILL NOT connect the built in webcam to any websites. HELP!

I have the iMac 27'' 2.93 GHz Intel Core i7 16GB.
The built in webcam, (and also any USB webcams I have tried to connect,) will not connect to any websites such as Chat Roulette, or any other broadcast website that requires Adobe Flash Player. I hit accept, and it just comes up as either a black screen, or says detecting video. (Depending on the site.) I have tried on multiple browsers, is there a random setting I don't know about?
The webcam works perfectly with Skype, Photobooth, iChat- but it will not work when trying to broadcast through any website.
Can someone please help me solve this problem!? It's ridiculous.

What is wrong with webcam?
Every notebook model is delivered with preinstalled OS and webcam should work properly.
I presume you should have Win7 64bit, right?

G62-340us does not recognize the built in webcam

I have a hp g62-340us with windows 7 home pr 64 bit and I installed a new 320 gig HD and purchased the recovery discs for it from HP and everything works except the built in webcam and it does not even recognize it is there. I could use some help if anyone has an idea. I went through the HP website and found nothing.

I tried it but it goes wrong while setup, I get a message to connect the webcam and does not go on, setup is waiting and can not come forth.
I opened all the files in the setup with Winrar and tried through Windows and it did not work.
I know it's not your fault, it's very poorly by HP that does not have a driver for something that itself produces.
It would be simple to download drivers when needed.
Now I have an HP product that is not working because HP does not have drivers for all their products.
A big fiasco from HP!

IMac doesn't detect the base station correctly (with new base station)

I have a brand new Airport Express. I'm trying to connect to my iMac G5. Everything works fine in the start up with getting the green light on the Express base station. But, my iMac doesn't "connect" with the base station.
I try the "Airport Setup Assistant" and get a window that says "No new Airport networks were found."
I look at the "pie" at the top of the iMac screen. It has the white and black stripes on it. I click it and find "Apple Network e3fec9" and select it. The signal level shown has all blue buttons. That window also reports "Status: Connected to 'Apple Network e3fec9'" and "Base Station ID:00:19:E3:E3:FE:C9". That's what makes me think that my problem must be in the iMac and not the base station.
I had also tried my Dell laptop (from work) and found that it found the internet network. It detected the "local host" and "Apple Network" and the signal strength was very good (~90% or so). The only problem was that the laptop thought it needed to recreate an IP address before it could connect to the internet. I didn't do that, since I saw it was detecting the network.
Please help. Why should this be so hard?

I'm confused. You say you're connected to "Apple Network e3fec9", and you're having trouble connecting your iMac? It sounds like you've managed to connect to your Airport Base Station.
Have you configured the Internet settings for the base station? Try this:
1. Launch Airport Admin Utility (in /Applications/Utilities/) select "Apple Network e3fec9" and click Configure.
2. Under the Airport tab, give the base station a name, click the Base Station Options… button, and make sure Enable Ethernet Port is checked.
3. Select Create a Wireless Network (Home Router) if it isn't already selected, give your network a name, and check Create a closed network
4.Click the Wireless Security button and set it to WPA Personal, and enter a password.
5. Under the Internet tab, set Connect Using: to Ethernet, and in the Configure dropdown, select Using DHCP
6. Click the Access Control tab and click the plus button on the right side of the window. In the panel that pops up, click the This Computer button.
7. Click Update
I'm hoping it's something simple, like Enable Ethernet Port wasn't checked or something, and not something more serious.

Photo booth doesn't work, the built in web cam stopped functioning

i've just purchased macbook pro and the built in camera stopped working, when i open the photo booth application, i see a green screen, and the photo it takes is all green.
it worked yesterday, and now it doesn't

IMac doesn't detect the keyboard

I just replaced the batteries of my blootooth keyboard, it powers up just fine (I have also tried it with another mac) but my iMac doesn't detect it - so I cannot log in. Can anyone help me? I have tried to turn iMac off and unplug all cords but it doesn't help.

When I connect my iPhone to my iTunes, my iTunes doesn't detect the phone

WINXP not able to detect the built in sound card

I'm using 875P Neo Series (MSI 6758 M/b NEO) Mainboard.
I try to install the driver from the CD drive utilities installer...
After install the "Intel INF Drivers" but can't found "MaxSoundDriver" in the
installation CD. Anywhere I have download the "ADI SoundMax Drivers for ICH5"
and do the installation again. Below prompt message appear:

Driver not found! Reboot you system and run this setup again.
I did reboot and reboot. But still encountered the same problem.
It seem the built in Sound Card not detected by WinXP.
But the WinXP system setup and working fine.

And sorry for the above "typo" error... of "SoundMax Drivers".
In previously, I'm using the utilities driver installation CD,
to install the "INF Drivers" and "SoundMax Drivers".
But I didn't saw the menu of "SoundMax Drivers" during running the CD.
So I download the latest version of "Intel INF Drivers"
and "ADI SoundMax Drivers for ICH5" from

The "Intel INF Drivers" setup fine and do reboot my system.
But when I doing the installation of "SoundMax Drivers"

I did install also the "XPInfoView" utilities from the driver installation CD.
