My hp pavilion dv6 laptop hp_ tools e drive is full?

hey i was wondering why my hp_tools e drive is full, i got this laptop not too long ago in march so it's still fairly new but i keep getting notifications about that drive being full but all it says that i can delete is my already empty recyling bin. all the files on that drive are
Hewlett- Packard (file folder)
User HP- (file folder)
Jordan- (file folder)
HP_WSD.dat- (dat file)
HPSF_Rep- (text document)
MediaID.bin- (Bin file)
i would try something on my own but i'm too afraid that i'll really mess something up on it, oh and i noticed that it takes a REALLY long time to load videos on basically every website but web browsing it self is fine except for youtube so if some one could suggest how to fix that, that would be awesome. hope this post is specific enough.

The HP tools drive is for testing your system. Take not of the size, it is a very small part of your total hard drive and is not meant for anything else. I imagine Norton or some other anti-virus program is monitoring your system and reporting it. Next time it comes up , see if you can just check not to notify you again about that.

    Impossible to say with no information on which to base a diagnosis. "can't download" by itself doesn't tell us anything useful. What OS is your laptop running, and where exactly are things going wrong, including error messages if any?

  • Problem to connect iPhone 4s (6.0) to a HP Pavilion DV6 laptop via Bluetooth

    I'm having problem to connect iPhone 4s (6.0) to a HP Pavilion DV6 laptop via Bluetooth, the plan is to share the Internet (3G) from the iPhone to the laptop.
    The driver for serial port is not installing and I don’t have the option to connect to Internet via the iPhone. The problem is isolated to the iPhone as my Samsung mobile installs and connects ok, and is available in the control panel. During install I receive an error that the drivers (I guess for the COM port) cannot be found by WIN7. Drivers and options for headset, sound, SMS etc has installed correctly and is selectable in the control panel for Bluetooth.
    For troubleshooting I have reinstalled HP Bluetooth package sp44774.exe, no success. I then goggled and found a another package sp53961.exe, still I have the problem. Windows Update is configured to auto search for updates.
    Anyone have an idea what to do next?

    Amazing how it can be the simplest things that get overlooked.   Glad it is working.

  • Hp pavilion dv6 laptop has a black screen problem.

    Hello,
    I dont know how to fix my hp pavilion dv6 laptop.
    The laptop is working,have the necessary sounds after i
    turn it on,but the problem is that the screen stays always black
    ..I connect the lap top to tv screen or external monitor and it shows that everything is working properly.
    The laptop may have hit a hard surface. The laptop worked well until about 1 week ago when I turned it on and the screen was hazy at first. I turned it off and turned it back on and the screen was completely black but still had the start-up sound. Someone suggested I see if it works on an external monitor and that worked.
    Does anyone kow how I can fix the black screen of my hp pavilion dv6 laptop?
    I do lots of study with it and have my exams coming up soon. I need my laptop to be mobile with me and not stationed in one place. Thanks in advance for the help!

    Hi all please is any one help me I have my hp pavilion dv6 laptop.

    ..I connect the laptop to external monitor and it shows that everything is working properly. But It not working on laptop screen what should I do heplllllll

    Hi
    I'll try helping you with this,
    You'll have to give it for repair - display assembly replacement. The display panel might be at fault here as your system works good when connected to external monitor.
    But before that,
    Do a hard reset first --
    Turn off the computer by pressing SHIFT KEY while you click SHUT DOWN.
    Remove the computer from any port replicator or docking station.
    Disconnect all external connected peripheral devices such as USB storage devices, external displays, and printers.
    Unplug the AC adapter from the computer, shut down system.
    Remove the battery from the battery compartment.
    Press and hold down the Power button for about 15 seconds to drain any residual electrical charge from the capacitors that protect the memory.
    Insert the battery and plug the AC adapter back into the notebook computer, but do not connect any of the peripheral devices.
    Press the Power button to turn on the computer.
    Next:
    To confirm, connect it to other monitor & do a full extensive hard drive & memory test from BIOS, tap quickly F2 or F10 soon after powering on the system.
    If all tests are passed, contact HP service center.

  • My HP Pavilion dv6 laptop wont turn on

    My HP Pavilion dv6 laptop does not turn on. Problem with my laptop started couple weeks ago.  At that time, when computer goes to sleep mode after inactive for some time, power light and led lights stays on but screen is black. I can not do anything else but to press power button for few second and force turn off. If I turn on computer right away then computer will have black screen and nothing happens. If I remove battery and wait for few minutes and connect the power cord directly to computer and turn on then it will turn on normally and work until it goes back to sleep again. But now, its not even turning on at all. So far I tried hard reset, plugged in to different monitor and RAM test but no luck. Again when I turn on, caps lock and num lock lights blink and fan turns on and power lights, volume lights and wifi lights stays on but nothing on screen. Thank you in advance for any help.

    I came across your post about the Notebook, and wanted to assist you! I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook and having issues with performance. Here is a link to computer will not start.  I would start at the top and work my way down. Mine was fixed with reseating the HDD. Others have had it fixed with just reseating the Memory. Here is a video that shows you how to remove and reseat the HDD and memory. Please note remove any and all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices, as these could cause some issues.  You could reset the BIOS with this document selecting the reloading the BIOS default settings. Which has helped others as it restores the default settings. Plug the power adapter directly into a functioning wall outlet. Do not plug it into a power strip, surge protector, or secondary power source as this could cause and issue. Please let me know how this goes. Thanks.

  • URGENT QUESTION concerning Pavilion DV6 laptop charger

    Hey I have a question: I have two HP laptops; one is the Pavilion dv6 and has a charger with the series number PPP009L-E, with input 1.6A and 65W;
    The other laptop is the Pavilion dv6-3236NR, with the charger having the series number PPP009D, with input 1.7A and 65W.
    My question is, can I use the second charger for the first charger's laptop? My first Pavilion dv6 won't charge at all! Could someone PLEASE help me ASAP and tell me if it's the charger's problem, battery problem, or both, and whether I could use the second charger on the laptop!

    Hi Sekhar,
    Well the error code would certainly indicate that the drive has started to fail, but just in case, you could try wiping the entire Hard Drive first and then reinstalling the Operating System as described below.
    Download and install Killdisk on the link below - ( this application will write zeros to the entire drive ).
    http://software.lsoft.net/KillDiskSuiteFree-Setup.exe
    Download and install ImgBurn on the link below.
    http://download.cnet.com/ImgBurn/3000-2646_4-10847481.html
    Go to the Kill Disk application you have installed in All Programs, open the main folder, then select Bootable Disk creators and from that select Bootable DOS CD Creator which will burn the bootable ISO to a blank CD.
    During the next process do not worry about any warnings as your Windows 7 installation disc will reformat the HDD.
    Insert this CD in to your PC that is unable to load Operating System properly. Shut the notebook down, then start it again to boot from the Killdisk CD and follow the on screen instructions for Kill Disk.
    A brief description of the process is here Killdisk.
    Use this to wipe the whole of the Hard Drive, highlight (80h) and press f10 ( you will also have to type a confirmation and hit enter ) - ( this will make sure you include all partitions and then start the process - this may take a couple of hours! ).
    When the process is complete, remove the Killdisk CD and try installing Windows 7 again.
    If it still fails, I think your only option is to replace the HDD.

  • Pavilion dv6 - laptop receiving power but will not power on

    Pavilion dv6-6c53cl
    Windows 7
    As of earlier tonight, I can no longer power on my laptop. (I powered it successfully earlier today.) When the power adapter is plugged in, the indicator light on the laptop next to the power connector socket turns on, so at least the laptop is receiving power. I've tried removing the battery and disconnecting the adapter, draining the power, and reconnecting the adapter with and without the battery in, and in various orders. I've also tried removing and reseating both RAM sticks and the hard drive, all to no avail. Any suggestions?
    This is the fourth major failure of this system---the first three were a fan problem just weeks after purchase, a hard drive failure, and another fan problem---since I purchased it 22 months ago, and I feel I've bought a lemon.
    I'd like to avoid taking this in for repair if possible, because the local repair contractor (I live in Australia) badly bungled the previous repair: They took several weeks even to start on the repair, failed to fix one problem, and introduced a second, more severe problem (a keyboard failure, which somehow they didn't test despite apparently removing and reseating it when fixing a fan problem). I asked HP support about this, and the rep said there were no other shops near where I live that do in-warranty repairs. Please help!

    Can you post the different things you have tried and Current version of OS on this notebook?

  • HP Pavilion dv6-6c53cl Notebook - Internal Hard Drive Options

    Greetings,
    I just purchased an HP Pavilion dv6-6c53cl Entertainment Notebook PC (at Costco), and so far it's been a great deal. Everything seems to be working just fine.
    Because I do a lot of development work in Virtual Images, I have been running a number of external Hard Drivers from the notebook over the couple of weeks since I've owned it (including an external SSD). All that seems to work fine.
    But, I was wondering if anyone knows whether it is possible to install a second Hard Drive or SSD in this Notebook Model. I saw on the HP site that some Notebooks allow the installation of a second Hard Drive, but I couldn't find any information on this model that would suggest it can handle such a configuration.
    My primary objective for doing this would be to retain the original 1TB Hard Drive that came with the Notebook, but have a secondary SSD Drive to perhaps run the Paging activity from, when such functionality is needed upon running some of my larger Virtual Images.
    Any assistance with clarifying if this is an option with the HP Pavilion dv6-6c53cl would be very much appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Wayne

    We would need to know what operating system you installed but I am going to guess it is Windows 7.It would help more to know if it is 32 or 64 bit. Without that info I cannot link you to anything specific.
    This Forum has a Windows 7 upgrade guide specifically for your laptop:
    Upgrade Guide
    Your laptop has the AMD processor I believe and the network (LAN) driver is part of the main chipset (nVidia nForce) driver, which is absolutely critical to getting your laptop to work properly.

  • [solved][laptop-mode-tools] hard drive power settings not applied

    I've used the laptop-mode-tools now for quite some time. However, recently the power management settings are not applied anymore. Possibly since updating to systemd...
    My laptop-mode.conf looks as follows:
    CONTROL_HD_POWERMGMT=1
    # Power management for HD (hdparm -B values)
    BATT_HD_POWERMGMT=254
    LM_AC_HD_POWERMGMT=254
    NOLM_AC_HD_POWERMGMT=254
    However, even after doing a systemctl restart laptop-mode-tools.service I always get
    $ sudo hdparm -B /dev/sda
    /dev/sda:
    APM_level = 96
    Setting it manually works:
    $ sudo hdparm -B 254 /dev/sda
    /dev/sda:
    setting Advanced Power Management level to 0xfe (254)
    APM_level = 254
    $ sudo hdparm -B /dev/sda
    /dev/sda:
    APM_level = 254
    Of course, the settings are lost upon rebooting in this case.
    Any idea where the problem could be?

    I apologize if it is bad style to answer to a post marked as [solved] but:
    Same problem here!
    HDParm-settings are not applied on boot by LMT.
    laptop-mode.conf:
    # Should laptop mode tools control the hard drive power management settings?
    # Set to 0 to disable
    CONTROL_HD_POWERMGMT="auto"
    # Power management for HD (hdparm -B values)
    BATT_HD_POWERMGMT=100
    LM_AC_HD_POWERMGMT=200
    NOLM_AC_HD_POWERMGMT=254
    # hdparm -B /dev/sda
    /dev/sda:
    APM_level = 96
    Any ideas or solutions on this so far?
    And why is this post marked as 'solved'?
    edit:
    1.) manual set hdparm-settings survive reboot but not suspend!
    2.) no difference between CONTROL_HD_POWERMGMT="auto" or "1"
    3.)
    # systemctl status laptop-mode
    laptop-mode.service - Laptop Mode Tools
    Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/laptop-mode.service; enabled)
    Active: active (exited) since Do 2013-01-24 14:05:20 CET; 8min ago
    Process: 664 ExecStart=/usr/sbin/laptop_mode init auto (code=exited, status=0/SUCCESS)
    4.) pointed out that this seems to be a bug: https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/33262 as systemd does not restore apm values on wake up.
